Elisabetta Canalis is a shockingly terrible actress

Thanks to LaineyGossip for this – a clip of Elisabetta Canalis beginning her five episode arc on TNT’s Leverage. Now, who watches Leverage, honestly? I tried watching a few episodes the first season, but I thought it sucked. Hard. Like, I can suspend my belief and watch some really strange fictional shows and enjoy them fully (like Lost), but some of the premises of Leverage episodes are just too stupid. I spent the whole time feeling bad for Timothy Hutton, who I actually adore. Anyway, so Elisabetta’s big American acting debut is on a sub-par basic cable show where she says lines like, “I know why you’re here, and I think it’s cute, but this is a matter of national security.” UGH. Note how she tilts her head when she says “national security” like she thinks it’s time to play coy and girlish.

Good Lord, her accent is thick. I mean, I get it, she’s Italian, she’s going to speak with an Italian accent. I have a good ear for accents too (my father has a thick accent, I’m used to being able to understand foreigners attempting to speak English), but I couldn’t understand half of Elisabetta’s lines. Guess we know that Clooney isn’t keeping her around for her witty conversation. In a recent interview, Timothy Hutton was trying to be nice about how no one understands a f-cking thing she says. Hutton said: “Working with her was great. She’s just such a lovely person and she brought great excitement when she came to the set. She was so excited to be in the show and she worked so hard and she was worried that her accent was too thick and you know one of the great things is her accent. She’s working very hard to minimize the accent and we all wanted her to have the accent.” Yeah. Timothy Hutton just cashed a check from Clooney.

Anyway, at the end of the day, this is what Clooney bought her. If I was Elisabetta, I would want a refund. And if I was Clooney, I’d want one too. No kicky sex for a week, they’ve both decided.

  1. JJ says:

She is so stunning . . . but man those tattoos are trashy.

  2. ctkat says:

Isn’t it interesting that even with the power of Clooney, all she could get was 5 episodes of a failing basic cable show?

After all, Will Smith bought his son a whole movie franchise!

  3. Patrice says:

Really, THIS is a shock??? On what planet?! George seems to have a thing about taking his “model”/cocktail waitress girlfriends and turning them into “big” stars while they are dating. “While” being the key word here…remember Sarah Larson’s attempts at television stardom? Exactly : P

  4. Fluffy Kitten Tail says:

She is awful and she is not that attractive, IMHO.

  5. BW says:

    1. Are those tassels hanging off her boobies?

    2. That’s some really unfortunate water placement.

  6. Beck says:

Well, I watch Leverage sometimes. I saw the first part of that episode. I think they had to do voice-overs (or whatever it is called) for her part. Timothy Hutton sounded fine but she sounded amplified or something. It was strange. And, it definitely wasn’t the accent.

  7. Anna says:

She should not quit her day job as a model, that’s for sure. And it’s not the thick accent that bugs me, I understand what she’s saying, but her acting is stiff and strangely pageantry. Yikes.

  8. meme says:

i wasn’t shocked at all by how awful her
‘acting’ is. it’s what i expected. she’s very mannish looking and her tats are trashy.

  9. sasha says:

I can’t for the life of me decipher her last line – “I need you to take down ……… Demi Moore …”

It can’t be that can it ..?

  10. Obvious says:

i’m sorry failing? Leverage is one of the higher rated cable shows. I love it, and there are tons of people who do.

That being said she sucked. Hard. It was bad. The episode was kind of enjoyable minus her. Yuck.

  11. Oi says:

I watch Leverage, honestly. I really like it. And it isn’t failing. Its actually doing pretty well, considering. She sucked. Period. Please let her go. Aldis Hodge’s brother did a good job though.

  12. jane16 says:

We started watching Leverage when it first started a couple of years ago. We liked the 1st season, but the second pretty much sucked. Anyway, we watched last night & the girlfriend was t e r r i b l e. I think she was smiling as she said all her lines. Simply cannot act. And its not just the accent, she has a weird voice. This was a bad idea; hopefully, Cloon won’t foist his dates off on other struggling tv shows. If he really wants to help her, why doesn’t he put her in one of his movies??? (Ha! That would be funny!)

  13. Liana says:

oh my…. that’s all I really can say. oh my….

  14. MooHoo says:

Ah no. How could she make such an eeejit of herself. Obviously has no sense of irony or is in any way self critical. The material in that show isnt exactly Tennessee Williams, so it wouldve been hard to do much with it – but jesus, this is very wooden. she wouldnt have got a look in only for who she is – which means some struggling actress from oklahoma missed out on this little part and the first rung on the hollywood ladder so someones girlfriend could have the role. sad.

  15. Mel says:

Beyond over-rated in the looks department. I don’t get the ‘stunning’ thing at all. About time Clooney got some fresh trash.

  16. Green Is Good says:

@BW: That’s some really unfortunate water placement.

    Ha ha ha ha!

  17. Sammie323 says:

I love Leverage. I think it’s a really fun show, Clooney’s gf notwithstanding. And they’ve got some cool people coming up as villians-of-the-week.
    SPOILERS!

    John Schneider for one 🙂

  18. original kate says:

    wow…awesomely bad.

  19. Anna says:

Ah, well she’s got more range than ugly Jenny.

  20. Sammie323 says:

BTW, Leverage received $14 million in financing by a private company for this season. I don’t think this is a common practice in TV (could be wrong 🙂

Private financing ensuring a full season + George Clooney’s girlfriend in a recurring role in that same season = Conspiracy Theory!

  21. k says:

    it’s “shockingly,” not “shocking”

  22. bellaluna says:

I just wish Leverage would ditch the “guest stars” altogether, except for the clients and villains-of-the-week.

Last season with what’s-her-face was painful to watch (her scenes, at least), and now this season will be the same until this “model” is out. UGH.

  23. Ellen Smith says:

Thanks K. I abhor improper grammar.

  24. fizXgirl314 says:

That almost sounds like a French accent… Not very Italian at all…

  25. Nanea says:

I don’t get why people still think Clooney is someone special.

Not only has his taste in women gone downhill in the past years, but he shills for a product (Nespresso) while the parent company has had trouble with ethics (Nestlé) for decades.

It’s sad that better looking, and more talented actresses can’t get jobs because of favoritism.

  26. Obvious says:

@bella luna, what’s her name was only there because our wonderful Sophie was on maternity leave. At least she still made appearances.

  27. simplicity says:

    Barbie speaks, and shouldn’t.

  28. Kitten says:

She’s not that bad . She’s better than some of the crap I have seen on tv . It must be hard to act in English when you don’t speak it . She needs a better acting coach .

  29. jane16 says:

@ Nanea, yes, its very sad that an actual actress missed out on a job so that cloon’s could give this to his piece. Its not like she got the job on her own merit. The nepotism in H’wood is worse than in politics, and is why movies and tv have gone so downhill, bad writing, bad acting, etc. I thought cloon would’ve been above that sort of thing,

  30. MaiGirl says:

I was willing to give her a chance, since I love Leverage (seriously, Timothy Hutton is such a delicious older man), and how bad can one actress ruin such an ensemble piece? It was kind of like watching a great basketball team with one terrible player who can’t pass or shoot.

I get why Hollywood actors hook up with women who don’t really have their own careers. What I don’t get is why they don’t seem to understand that these women don’t have their own careers for damn good reasons.

  31. Sigh. says:

    That. Was. Awful.

And like others have said, her accent is the least of her troubles. Hayek, Cruz, and Bardem have thick accents, and still manage to deliver a line or two with enough conviction to garner Oscar noms/wins in English-speaking roles.

You can see her thinking about every move/word, which would explain the lack of facial expressions, I guess. And the obviously placed pauses…are badly timed, and…annoying…So, apparently Cloon-tang…didn’t run lines…with her…at all…period.

But was she an “actress” or the catch-all term, “TV presenter/model” in Italy? Not that it makes this excusable.

  32. Beth says:

I like Leverage but I usually watch it on weekend repeats. Elisabetta reminds me of the ugly/pretty girl on Seinfeld. Sometimes she looks very pretty, other times, like that bikini photo, a hot, tranny mess. It’s obvious George set this up. Somebody with minimal acting and english skills is not going to get such a big role.

I love the whole cleansing of Sarah Larson. I get a chuckle remembering People and Vanity Fair/W? had her as a future big star just because she was dating George.

  33. RHONYC says:

    hahaahahahaaaaa!

    that was hilarious!

especially the scene at the bar where after every line from her timothy looks up at her like “are you for real?” lol

1:13 tim – takes a shot after her terrible grivle and goes “ahhhhh”

he looks like he’s thinking…”really? i gotta do this sh%t?”

1:34 eli – “you’re as good as they say”

tim then looks at her like her wants to beat her senseless with a shovel. haha

    priceless. 🙂

  34. CC says:

Give her a break, she prob doesn’t understand half of what she’s saying. Penelope Cruz was the same way in the 90s when she was a big star in Spain and tried to do movies in America, she didn’t understand any of her lines.

  35. Mia says:

I love Leverage. It’s a fun show. Had no idea that was Aldis’ brother. Neat. I’m so glad “Sophie” is back. I slowly came around to Jeri Ryan, but the team didn’t gel and the season felt off without Gina’s presence.

The Italian Queen should stick to Italian TV because she sucked mightily last night. I zoned out when she was on. Very painful 5 minute cameo.

  36. Solveig says:

I’ve seen worst actors in HW movies, so what’s the point? She’s not that bad IMHO, and she played a comic role in some italian sit-coms and she was cute.
At least she’s been very honest admitting she has a lot to learn in acting and accent departments.
But I get it, she’s one of those celebrities people love to hate, ’cause… it’s all the rage (e.g. Megan Fox).

  37. HAHAHAHA says:

this is my deepest hope: canalis sees the leverage episodes ~ has an epiphany…I can’t act!!! returns to Italy a sad, but wiser woman. searches her wardrobe for the nun’s habit she had a feeling she would need again. enters convent. and is never seen or heard from again. Americans and struggling actors everywhere dance in streets.

  38. THuttonDeservesAMedal says:

cc: and that makes it alright? how dare you compare that wretch to penelope cruz! penelope has been acting since she was a teen. it is one thing to struggle with a second language. it is another to pass yourself off as an actress when you have no talent or clue. she had no business being on that show and if she has any real friends, somebody will tell her.

  39. goodgrief! says:

poor Tim! he is so good and such a good sport! maybe he’ll ad lib a gun under the bar and shoot her thereby saving himself and the viewing public the ghastly mess that is canalis’s acting

  40. Sincerity says:

I really love George Clooney but he needs to accept that Elisabetta is certainly no Sophia Loren by a long shot. It’s not about her accent, it’s her lack of “confidence or stage presence”. I’ve met quite a few Italians in my life and they have never failed to impress me with their “Old World” primal cool whether they were Americanized or native born. Elisabetta lacks the ability “to feel” or “own” the character she’s portraying. If she’s not comfortable with English, it’s time for her to learn it, period. Language barriers are seldom an obstacle for really talented people. Personally, I really like Leverage. The cast is composed of “well seasoned” actors/actresses and Elisabetta is not ready to work with professionals. Being “attractive” does not equate to being “talented”. His friend, Mel Gibson, can certainly “school” him on that score.

  41. jane16 says:

Penelope Cruz was the same way in the 90’s?!?!?!?! Are you kidding?!?! Holy crap! What a ridiculous comparison!

Well guys, we had this post to ourselves all morning, now I guess this is the time when her friends all start chiming in with how beautiful and talented she is and how we’re all ugly, jealous haters.

  42. Anj says:

    Clooney looks ugly

  43. benven says:

To anyone here who thinks her hideous performance was the result of her being Italian, you have apparently never seen our entertainment industry. We have many excellent actors and actresses who perform beautifully in several languages. This woman is not an actress. Period.

  44. anonymous says:

She is horrible as an actress, and she’s not even a real model. Until she had name association with Clooney, the only modeling work she could get was nude or in soft porn. She’s actually far too short and has skin that is far too bad to be a real model.

Let’s hope Leverage’s writers will be killing her off at the end of her five episodes, as I think they will. Let’s also hope that her character’s death is a sure-thing kind of death and not one where there’s even the slightest chance of survival.

  45. TeeTee says:

that is a damn man!! I do not and will not beleive otherwise…she looks just like those men that changed their sex via an operation.

    She was a HE.

  46. benven says:

My mother could have turned in a better performance. And would have needed a lot less makeup.

  47. Mouse says:

Whoa, she could give Megan Fox some competition for worst actress w/ awful tattoos.

  48. benven says:

@ Beth, yes, she’s like the ugly/pretty girl on Seinfeld, perfect comparison (except of course that the girl on Seinfeld could act). From some angles and in certain lighting she looks pretty, in others, not so much.

  49. cringe-worthy says:

I wonder how many takes they had to do just to come up with this? Just awful.

  50. Feebee says:

I didn’t think she was much worse than half the actresses on cable, the likes of Kyra, Holly, Glenn etc excepted.

As for her accent, meh. Sometimes American actors mumble and you can’t
understand what the hell they said. Interesting that there are so many good foreign actors that are required to hide their native accents, yet she gets a pass.

I don’t get all the hate, especially since no one watches this damn show anyway.

  51. cringe-worthy says:

I beg to differ, Feebee. She was beyond unbelievable, so much so that it takes you out of the story.

  52. Stacy says:

I love Leverage and Canalis was AWFUL! I’m really pissed about the stunt casting of Clooney’s flavor of the month.

  53. weslyn says:

lol i like that show..can’t wait to see how she fares

  54. Sammie – just to add to the conspiracy theory. The private financing company that invested in Leverage this season, last year invested in the film ‘Men who stare at Goats’ starring George Clooney, made by his production company, directed by his buddy Grant Heslov. Now his current piece was in the season 3 premiere. His best friend Richard Kind was in the Season 2 finale. And George’s productions company has a tv show starting on the 22nd June on TNT called Memphis Beat. Clooney has a relationship with TNT and so once it is confirmed that the show he is producing is getting picked up, another show on the same network gets finance from people he knows and the thank you is to hire two people in his circle for roles on that show. Maybe. It is quite a coincidence.
And she was that bad. She didn’t emoted once and spoke like she was reading from the yellow pages instead of a script. I thought she would be passable as the producers had talked her up. I am more scared by how bad she was when you think that she is being used to sell the show (Leverage trading on Clooney name recognition as all the articles have used his name in the title) so her scenes would have been heavily edited to try and make her look good and that was the best they could use from her takes. It doesn’t debunk the ‘she got the role because of who she is sleeping with’ stories, does it? I hope Clooney ups her allowance – she isn’t going to be getting much work in the future. If this role was the kiss-off present, she might be a problem for Clooney. No work means she might go to the tabloids to make a quick buck.

  55. sonola trip says:

    @ bored at work,

I usually find conspiracy theories abhorrent but the direct ties you just outlined between Clooney, TNT, and Leverage just sent a chill down my spine. This is really disappointing news.

  56. bellaluna says:

@ bored at work – I don’t believe in coincidence. What you wrote was quite enlightening. Thank you! 🙂

  57. jane16 says:

I love this website. Best threads ever! God you guys are funny! And informative!

  58. irena NL says:

Will never get into tattoos on women. Bad enough on men. Her accent must turn him on. He likes brunettes with brown eyes – earthy looking women.

  59. Kate says:

Shes an interesting looking woman…. she’s handsome and I mean that as a compliment. She’snot pretty or beautful, but handsome and attractive in a unique way.

Her tattoos are awful and add to her already relatively manly frame and overall appearance. She did not need those tats and they detract from her looks.

But the acting? My God, the acting… yikes is all I can say.

  60. Persistent Cat says:

I’ve never heard of that show. Her “performance” was bad. It was something you’d see in a high school production. “Oh, I’m a bad guy, ok, I’ll purr my lines, that’s enough, right?”

I hate to sound old fashioned but those tattoos really take away from how lovely and elegant she can look.

  61. Snowbunny says:

I like Leverage and she was terrible. I also like George but wish he would date someone who wasn’t looking for a boost in their model/acting career. Why is it he dates someone and they hit all the sexy lists, etc. They have been around for a decade and all of a sudden they are raving beauties? Hmmm, George must pay his PR guy double for the additional work.

  62. katyalia says:

As if Nanny Fine was easier to understand…

  63. cringe-worthy says:

LOL. Canalis’s peeps are posting on JustJared. Guess they figured it was too late to skew the comments here.

  64. Orbit says:

Yeah, I’m sure Clooney is attracted to her acting skills. He arranged some bit part on cable TV to keep her happy and dependent. I don’t think he wants a Mensa member for a companion. He’s not especially deep himself.

  65. CB Rawks says:

The phrase is “suspend your DISbelief” because you are choosing to stop disbelieving for a moment and allow the crazy premise.

  66. sauvage says:

I don’t find her that bad. Have seen far worse by people who called themselves actual actors.

  67. Michela says:

Elisabetta Canalis is famous here in italy for dancing on a table in a famous tv show, for doing hot calendar suitable for truckers and for dating a famous soccer player, that’s all… and she’s not that pretty, in the region Sardegna where she was born there are prettier girls than her.

  68. nnn says:

Her acting skills is awful. her body is sick ! I like her waist/hips ratio.

  69. paola says:

  70. viper says:

Megan Fox is easily the WORST.

  71. fata says:

@cc: how can you compare her to
Penelope Cruz? Penelope was a fine actress and a big star indeed when she first moved to the US. This supposedly TV presenter/model hasn’t done anything in ITaly, except for nude calendars and is well-known for not having any talent whatsoever. She is pretty trashy looking as well.

  72. Amanda says:

Come on, she’s a great actress! She’s acting as the George’s girlfriend, and she’s perfect!

  73. me says:

Does anyone know if she’s eligible for a SAG card for getting 5 episodes?

  74. lola says:

Clooney’s girlfriend does not know acting even in Italian!for Italians is not an actress.some call “eliCAPRETTA” capretta in english translated is: goat

  75. cringe-worthy says:

I don’t know, me, but it may be a moot point. I don’t think anyone in the U.S. is going to be hiring her again.

  76. Vicky Corday says:

Hollywood has been shoving attractive women who can’t act down our throats for years. What’s one more brainless, someone’s girlfriend in this industry.

  77. Agostino Sanna - Italy says:

Bad acting, ok… she needs some (a lot of) coaching or maybe she should do something else but before critizing the thick accent, take into consideration that she’s an Italian speaking English. An American friend once told me: “I wish I could speak Italian the way you speak English!”

  78. sunny says:

She’s not that bad and she is beautiful.

  79. Grace says:

HELLO, I’m Italian and I don’t like Elisabetta either.
She started her “carreer” as a dancer… if you can call a dancer someone who dances for 2 minutes on the table of a fake TV News comic show!

She is a pretty girl and a good model too… but nothing more than that! I don’t like her way of acting either. AND especially I hate those little Italian stars who think they MUST film some American series in order to become “someone famous”. Old 1950s tales… out of fashion!!!! Gees,….

  80. pepper says:

what did she have over several boyfriends on her curriculum?
    I don’t understand this George’s mistake…
she really looks like a man with heavy make-up to cover her bad skin, she’s ugly and on her face the make up artists de-horsing is failed!
    Horse-face strikes again!

  81. ZymoF says:

    Another Italian here..!!

When i first heard that Elisabetta was going to be in Leverage i was shocked..!

I thought: is it possible that someone like her (with no acting skills at all) could be in a USA TV show?

Well, after i saw her, i was just embarassed..!

    Thank God it’s just 5 episodes…

  82. She's Done says:

Accents can be charming, as long as you understand what the person is saying, or else what’s the point? It was obvious she didn’t understand what she was saying either because she had the wrong mannerisms, inflections and she smiled throughout in a moronic way. When she was on the phone in the car, the way she walked into the room, the way she threw the portfolio down on the bar, all wrong wrong wrong. She seemed conscious of the camera the entire time; I would guess that alone would be the death knell for her “career”. Is it me? She doesn’t seem very bright. Someone with a modicum of talent could have used this gig to her advantage. Methinks she has ‘risen to the level or her own incompetence’ (peter principle). Stick a fork in her…

  83. Nobilone says:

I’ve seen EC ‘act’ in some Italian shows and commercials and, trust me, English is the LAST problem she has to face as an alleged actress.

  84. She's Done says:

Okay, so far this is her resume gleened from comments posted about her:
Objective: find wealthy man, preferably movie star, to support me and cater to my every whim
    Skill Highlights:
    -dances on table tops
    -speaks gibberish in two languages
    -does impressions: girlfriend, animal, mentally-challenged
    -has own costumes, tattoos
-has unique two-faced quality (can pass as woman or man)
-facial expressions: can pout, look sour and/or dazed simultaneously; complains effectively; can also look disinterested when escorted by world’s most handsome man; feigns boredom well/excellent yawner; can also do rude, petulant and spoiled.
-can provide nude photos (not recent)
-willing to travel;can cook fish (when necessary)

  85. cringe-worthy says:

ROFLMAO!!! She’s Done, thanks for posting that. You gave me the laugh of my day.

  86. judy says:

George better get her to an electrosis shop and fast lol…she will be sprouting hair on ehr chest soon..she needs to be able to wear a bikini uhhh without the added attraction. and if her hair line is any indication she will have a mustache by the timne she is 40. LOL good luck george

  87. spot checker says:

She’s Done, your comment on 84., priceless. You win. Congratulations!!

  88. snowbunny says:

    She’s done that was great!

A couple of items to add –

    A true red carpet Diva

Not responsible for her own comments or actions

Any bad comments are said by envious people (good thing she has concrete barriers)

  89. Ashley says:

Sort of off topic but I love playing six degrees of seperation, so Eliabetta is dating the Cloon and so she obviously hangs out with Pitt & Jolie right? Wonder if Htton and she talked about little Mrs. Jolie? Apparently when she starred in that God movie with him she had it for him hardcore, tried to get him to leave his wife, etc, etc. He apparently turned down her many advances. Just thought it was funny that they’re on a show together now. Wonder if Jolie knows or cares. She had it BAD for Hutton.

As for the article. Just another one of Clooney’s many “gifts” like Kirsta Allen, Larson, etc. The man hands out roles like diamonds to a mistress. I’m surprised he’s been with this one this long, but then again he found one that looks exactly like his crush Crawford, so I shouldn’t be surprised.

  90. justine says:

the author of this article for honesty should publish articles with this title for several “actors / atrice” Americans are unwatchable on the screen …. Elisabetta Canalis does not deserve all this hate, is his first time, and it is right and proper and civil enable it to improve.
Try a little ashamed of who wrote !!!!

  91. Anto says:

Elisabetta Canalis will find her way home like Raoul Bova already did in his “What About Brian” in 2006
    That’s all. 😉

  92. steola says:

but please….how can you be so bad and evil??? she is italian, she doesn’t speak your language…and she is not acting for an oscar…give her a hope…you are killing her…she is beautiful and she is italian….far away from your undefinied american style…I cannot go on reading your comments…you are so cruel and merciless! “an italian girl”

  93. caffein says:

in Italy, E.Canalis is known as “HOOVER”…guess why…i think she has been taken too much!

  94. She's Done says:

Italian posters: canalis is like many others these days who want the success and money without the work. It is one thing to have someone help you get a job if you are qualified. It is quite another to steal that role from a qualified actress and then be so bad you are laughable. For this and so much more, she has earned our contempt. It is understandable that you are embarrassed by her representation of your country. We do not view Italy or other Italian women through the canalis lense. That would be unfair. Stop trying to pawn this disaster off on us. As you have so kindly pointed out, we already have enough problems of our own.

  95. micaela says:

If I was her I would die of shame, as far as I’m concerned I feel ashamed of her.

  96. Eleonora says:

I’m Italian, I’ve seen the telefilm, only the short part where she acts and I am agree with you. She’s awful, But it is not a surprise for italian public.
I can’t speak about her accent, but her acting is unreal and fake also for not-english speaking people.
She could be good in modelling or presenting because she is sparkling and natural, but acting is quite another matter. please don’t let her act again in American telefilm which I love so much!!!!!

  97. bitch-face says:

Awful acting…she’s too focused on what she has to say, plus she’s NOT an actress. not even in italy.

  98. Fleur says:

Hmm, I know I’m off topic, but…GOOD BYE, ITALIAN SOCCER TEAM, HAVE A NICE WAY HOME :)))

  99. Eve says:

Here in Italy everybody knows that she has no capabilities as an actress or whatever. After exporting Pizza, Pasta and Pavarotti, she’s cutting a crappy figure and bringing shame on our country. If her agent will ever realize that she’s nothing left but playing a poor devil in some reality-show, you’ll finally get rid of that Italian tv trash.
    Have a pizza!

  100. Andrea says:

I’m an Italian man, and cannot judge over her English. But had the chance to watch her while performing in an Italian serial: in my opinion, she’s lovely, but only if she keeps her mouth sealed, let alone acting. Also, she doesn’t seem to be a very smart person, so Clooney dating and supporting her career is one of the most inexplicable misteries in the show business.

  101. Marcello says:

    Hello everybody,
    I’m italian.
Elisabetta had a TV born as a null-showgirl (just standing in front of the camera showing her butt),
    then she was the_soccer_of_the_moment_girfriend;
    after, they let her act in soaps (not acting, just she was herself);
    and now Clooney…
trying to resew a new verginity???

  102. giulia says:

Tutti invidiosi. Elisabetta se ti capita di leggere quí sappi che invece sei stata molto coraggiosa a lavorare in una lingua che non é la tua. Vai avanti e migliora.

  103. cringe-worthy says:

LOL giulia. She’s been trying to be an actress for ten years, therefore there’s not much chance of improvement at this point. She needs to pursue a different vocation, and anyone who tells her otherwise is setting her up for continued ridicule. I find it funny that she probably begged, screamed, and demanded this sort of opportunity, and now it is painfully obvious to the entire world that she didn’t deserve it. You can’t buy talent.

  104. New at this says:

She was just awful and it was not just her accent. She looked and sounded scared.Ely was not as prepared as she should have been. This was a big mistake on her part.I know English is not her first language but still, she should have gotten more experience first.I don”t want to see her again. To bad she is not here to face her critics. She sure can dish it out but she sure cannot take it – Iggy pop-aniston remark By the way she is visiting her parents while George is doing reshoots of his movie. They will go to lake Como after. Must be nice to be rewarded for a job not so well done.

  105. cringe-worthy says:

@ New at this, what makes you think she will be at Como? Are you just guessing? I wouldn’t bet too much money on that.

  106. New at this says:

@ Cringe-Worthy, It is just a guess, but all the other sites are reporting this.

  107. cringe-worthy says:

By reports, do you mean comments? Probably just her people spamming the comments sections as usual.

  108. New at this says:

    @ Cringe-worthy.Other websites.

  109. cringe-worthy says:

I know you meant other sites, but the comments sections or actual reports or bloggers giving their opinions? I doubt there have been any reports, just comments and blogger opinions.

  110. massima says:

Americans are stupid people without history, I do not find any problem with the performance of Elisabetta Canalis. Why do not take back all that stupid american actress that are around italy and speak with that stupid accent!!!!!

  111. cringe-worthy says:

massima, what about the people of Italy who didn’t watch Canalis’s TV shows there? All of her Italian TV shows got low ratings and were cancelled. Why would Americans be any different?

  112. massima says:

    Because you like junk food!

  113. cringe-worthy says:

LOL. I suppose that’s true, but we have minimum standards even for junk food, and apparently Italy does, too.

  114. new at this says:

@ Cringeworthy Don”t you think it makes sence that they would be together since he has a film opening at the venice film festival in Sept.? sorry about any spelling mistakes, keyboard sticky.

  115. Messenger says:

To all Italian posters defending canalis’ “acting”: do not take this personally! We trashed Sharon Stone on L&O because she stunk, why should canalis be exempt from our scorn? Besides, your argument doesn’t hold up…if she can’t speak or understand English then she had no business taking an English speaking part! It’s very simple! You do not practice English on a television show! She had to know she was opening herself to ridicule by doing so. Or worse, she thinks she is so naturally talented that she thought she could pull it off. That is pure hubris. Well, maybe now she will face facts. As for myself, I laughed really hard.

  116. massima says:

Yes you are true, we have a lot of american junk food over here!

  117. cringe-worthy says:

@new at this, the last I read was that The American was going to skip Venice. Even if it were to show at Venice, I don’t think it would make sense for Clooney to show up with Canalis. He has already gone above and beyond any agreed upon contract with her and has to cut his losses at some point. I’ll be glad when he starts living a real life and enjoying himself again.

  118. Kristin says:

Uh, yeah. The author of this post is way off in my opinion. Leverage is a very good show and judging by the ratings, I’m not alone in that line of thinking. The story lines are entertaining and yes, sometimes far-fetched, but who gives a shit? It’s supposed to be entertaining. And the cast has great chemistry together. If it was such a “crap” show like the author insinuates, TNT wouldn’t have renewed it for a 3rd season.

  119. new at this says:

going out on a limb here, and going off topic, but don’t you think she could be the one he wants. She is from Italy knows the language and culture he spends more time there than anywhere else, that way he is not taking anyone away from her family, friends, career. George has been showing her off differently then all the others he has had before{showing her off at all the red carpet events} as oppose to the back door route}.George seems to be looking to finding someone more permanent to share his life with. Lots of men don”t get settled until around 50,then the nest thing you know it”s the next girl around the corner because it looks like she is not going anywhere anytime soon. This is the second girl he has brought home to meet his parents in a short time. I’m not a fan of hers she seems full of herself but so does he.I’m gonna get it now.

  120. cringe-worthy says:

@new at this, you’re certainly entitled to your opinion, but I see this very differently. Canalis is not well respected in Italy, despite what her “people” continually post on these blogs. You would need to look at some Italian blogs and also at the evidence of her ratings and show cancellations in Italy to realize that in Italy she is nothing more than Paris Hilton is in the U.S. Also, she is from Sardinia rather than Italy, and according to many Italians does not speak Italian very well. You said that Clooney spends more time in Italy than anywhere else, but that’s not true. He spends summers there, and last time I checked, summer is just one out of four seasons in the year. As for red carpets etc. he did the same with Larson. Maybe if I’d ever seen him look happy to be with Canalis I might buy into what you’re saying, but I’ve never seen it. He always looks like he’d rather be having a root canal than be with her, and she always looks like a b*tch.

  121. new at this says:

O.K. respect your opinion but why go through all of this then, why not go to the red carpets alone then keep trying to fool everyone into believing that your someone that your not. Is it not better to live the truth then a lie. Just show up alone then. I like him that way anyway. so could you please tell me what would be in their or her contract with him if you could. thank-you. my question mark is not working. I know I’m off topic but I have wanted to say something about them or her for awhile now. by the way do you think tonights episode will be any better

  122. cringe-worthy says:

The publicity contract was probably one of those “It seemed like a good idea at the time” mistakes which all of us have made at times, the difference being that most people’s mistakes aren’t played out in the public eye. Clooney had three movies come out in the last half of last year, which is a lot. A publicity contract probably seemed to make sense at that time. Also, I’ve read elsewhere that Canalis is associated with the people who financed the movie The American. Now it’s come out that Leverage has also received financing from an Italian company. I guess if you follow all of the money trails far enough, you will arrive at the truth. The answer to why a contract is that it was a business deal, pure and simple, or so it seemed at the time.

  123. new at this says:

@ cringe-worthy Thank-you for all of your great insight, I appreciate you taking the time.

  124. cringe-worthy says:

As to your question about whether the next episode of Leverage will be any better, IMO the episode will be fine but, depending on how many takes they had time to do and how much editing, dubbing, and CGI animation the producers are able to do before the show airs, Canalis will turn in another bad performance. As someone else said, either you have it or you don’t. She’s had ten years in Italy during which it would have shown by now if she had it, which she doesn’t.
    .
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

  125. massima says:

Dai Elisabetta fregatene di questi stronzi ed invidiosi che sfogano la loro vita repressa e vuota in questi siti internet! Noi in Italia ti vogliamo bene e tifiamo per te!

  126. Ka says:

Dear Massima, what are u talking about???!!!!!Nobody in Italy loves her….she got famous just due to her affairs with soccer players and directos..do u remember her relationship with Muccino? I think her real purpose was to achieve Will Smith (good sexy boy)….but never mind, she got George!!!! I’m Italian and I feel really ashamed for her. Americans pls listen to me, Italian women are not all like that, we have a lot of beautiful and talented girls down here….and Elisabetta, sweetheart, be honest with yourself and learn a little bit of humility…So much for that, I gotta go to make a huge plate of REAL ITALIAN PASTA…who wants to join me???? Kiss to everybody, I love Italy and America, I’ve lived in NY for a while…guys, u are very cool!!!! ELISABETTA, MA VAI A ZAPPARE LA TERRA!!!!!!!!!!

  127. cringe-worthy says:

Hi Ka! I love Italy and Italians. We have a similar saying to “MA VAI A ZAPPARE LA TERRA!!!!!!!!!!” in America. Elisabetta, go pound sand! 😀

  128. new at this says:

@ Ka I’ll join you! haha, I wish people would reply in English so that I could understand what they said. Hope that’s not rude.# 125

  129. sonola trip says:

I just saw Elisabetta’s second “Leverage” episode and believe it or not, it’s even WORSE. I’m actually in shock right now at how bad she was.

  130. snookieAteAcookie says:

There are photos of canalis and her friends on gazette and she looks much better in these photos then the last bikini outing (from the neck down anywaY) She really is unattractive and looking smug does not help her cause. I think you have to be really desperate/delusional to feel good about a fake relationship and a debut that reveals how truly talentless you are. She will milk her time in the limelight on clooney’s dime for all it’s worth. As delusional as she is, after seeing leverage, she has to know she has no future in hw, except maybe in porn, which I think suits her perfectly. If you notice the women that do porn have good bodies but are not very attractive facially for the most part. After all, its where she started out and she will end up there, if there’s any justice. I hope the actress that should have had that leverage part is sticking pins in a canalis wax doll. Something has to wipe that smug look off her face.

  131. snookieAteAcookie says:

Hello~ I am a little disappointed that my name is only showing partially. It is Snookie Ate A Cookie, hommage to the JersyShore kids. I have felt a little disgusted by them and their show, but I realized that they are entitled to their fifteen minutes just like everybody else. They’re young and no I don’t watch but somebody is, and they’re not exploiting children or hurting anybody, as far as I know. So here’s to The Jersey Shore. Enjoy it while it lasts.

  132. new at this says:

@ cringe-worthy I just saw on another post on another web site that canalis is on a boat ride on Lake Como with some friends note how she is holding her girlfriends hand

  133. Heather says:

not impressive. whatever. Sorry, are we under the illusion that George or any other A-lister chooses women based on personality or talent? ROFLMAO. Uh huh. While you will see plenty of gorgeous chicks with men who are not necessarily handsome (but most do have money), you will practically never see a male A-lister who is not a modelizer. It’s an entitlement that comes with success in the male world. She can’t act. Who cares. She’s arm candy. I don’t see a ring, anyway. He’s notoriously single.

  134. Lorenzo says:

Ahahahaha, these boat pics are prizeless!
C_anal_is sticking out her talent !!!
    LOL .

  135. carla says:

I’m italian, and I have to say she’s Not a Model!she’s never been a model…I don’t think the problem is the accent, she clearly doesn’t know what she’s saying..in Italy she’s known only for partecipating in a program where she “danced” in the moments the presenters did a pause. And she’s known for dating some soccer players…she tried to make some fictions with bad results..and now she doesn’t do interviews because she’s so important.ridicolous

  136. carla says:

and as an Italian (so we have the same accent) I can’t understand half of what she’s saying!sorry for my bad english!

  137. Alessandra says:

I couldn’t expect more from someone like her.
Just think that I’m italian and I can’t even understand what she says while she speaks italian.

  138. Palmer says:

All the Italians who have posted here really made me laugh, heartily! I LOVE you guys! (and thank you to those who posted in English) We Americans can post opinions all day long, but in the end, we have one year of experience with ‘the Canalis’. You have a long history with her. And it is refreshing to hear the Italian version firsthand.

Personally, I think Canalis has a handsome face, but agree that the tats are really trashy and her body is simply that of a skinny girl model. GC likes young, skinny girls, not curvy, grown-up women. A la Tony Curtis (remember him?) he was a HW arm candy guy, too. Canalis’ appearance on Leverage didn’t improve her. In my opinion, the show is low-level American dribble, (like junk food) but even junk food can be made worse. She was awful. It was clear that she depends heavily on coy head-tosses and that so carefully cultivated ‘bored’ facial expression. The Paris Hilton of Italy comment is spot-on.

The poster who wants to see GC happy for a change has MY vote. He has looked unhappy for so long. I had given him the benefit of the doubt–maybe there is pressure from work, financial issues or health problems. However, I’m beginning to move to the dark side folks. It is his relationship. Yet, Canalis is still around. The last time he looked happy in public was with Sarah Larsen. He literally glowed with her on his arm. Now, people think he’s gonn’a settle? I certainly hope not.

GC, honey, listen and stop being so damned stubborn. If you don’t like females, then go with it. If you do, get a woman you can actually connect with, not a girl with whom you have absolutely nothing in common. Or if you are a perpetual player, then OWN it and stop the serial monogamy crap. You’ll save a lot of money. I know you men don’t listen, but I’ll say it yet again–letting your penis be your guide means half your sh*t and a side-by-side internet compare and contrast with Mel Gibson.

  139. Harriet says:

Nothing new under the sun. Young women with no talent but good looks will continue to use older men to get ahead and she is no different from most ethically challenged females.

  140. Italiano says:

I’m Italian and I do not know English well, and many follow Leverage high standard with Italian subtitles. I am very sorry that Elizabeth will have disconcerted by his presence in the series, but, please, we very best actresses of her that can emerge and they are much more prepared. Here in Italy no longer produce the television series based on a story or soap opera actors but only for good mules apathetic. Americans do not judge us for our pseudo actress recommended by Clooney. Do not judge us by a prime minister who is running away from corrupting judges constantly issuing laws to save himself and remove the parliament control over its actions. As you can imagine Canalis is the minor problem we have in common. Before the law, then we’ll learn how to pray in English. sorry.

  141. She's Done says:

What’s the deal with New at This anyway? she seems like she has some stake in the outcome of this relationship. Is she living vicariously or on the payroll? Inquiring minds want to know….

  142. Butch says:

Elisabetta just the newest ride at his favorite ride park. Leverage is fine, if you don’t take it seriously. Think A Team or Hawaii 5-0, not an Emmy.

  143. Egidio says:

  144. she looks very hot , she is good in performance, thanks for sharing this gallery.

  145. Wow! Thank you! I continuously needed to write on my site something like that. Can I implement a fragment of your post to my website?

  146. Lily says:

She is a bad actress, but whoever wrote this “blog” is an ever worse writer! Sorry!
