Ashlee Simpson sure is encouraging the press in the whole “is she or isn’t she” pregnancy runaround. Though she’s technically out and about promoting her new album, Bittersweet World, it seems more like she’s promoting her relationship/engagement/possible baby. Or maybe it’s the reverse. Surely all this publicity right as Ashlee’s releasing her first album in years can’t be entirely a coincidence. If it is – my goodness, what a fabulous time to get accidentally knocked up.
Ashlee stopped by for a visit with Ryan Seacrest on his radio show this morning, where she talked about her upcoming wedding, and gave a few vague, confusing quotes.
“I didn’t know I’d be getting married right now, but I’m so happy to be!” she said, calling from her mother’s Ritz-Carlton hotel room in NYC. “I’m a lucky girl.” How did Wentz – a Hot Hollywood Style honoree – pop the question? “That part I am keeping sacred,” she said, “but I will tell you that it was very thoughtful, and he did a great job. Of course, it was thoughtful,” she added, “He’s like that.”
Simpson — who flashed her new engagement ring (which Wentz designed) in NYC Wednesday — said she loved her rock. “It’s definitely a big diamond!” she said. “I go, ‘Oh, my God, I can’t believe its on my hand!'” When asked if she’d be marrying soon, Simpson replied, “I can’t tell my secrets,” but added, “my mom loves Pete, so does my dad!” Seacrest avoided asking flat-out if she were pregnant, but asked whether she’d be drinking booze during her stay this week in NYC (where she is promoting her new album Bittersweet World). Simpson replied, “Who knows? Maybe.”

I thought the whole “I didn’t know I’d be getting married right now” thing was kind of odd. The phrasing is kind of poor and leaves you guessing what she meant – though maybe that’s intentional. At first I took it to mean that Ashlee didn’t know she’d be getting married so young – but then I thought perhaps she was hinting that she didn’t plan on getting married at this point in her life. Which makes you wonder why she would. A part of me can’t help but wonder if Ashlee is indeed really pregnant, or if her manager/dad is just exploiting the rumors to help album sales.

she looks wierd in this picture, a little off, but new couples are fun to hear about but it seems like they are taking this above and beyond the call of duty. why can’t they stay low key like kimora and her new boyfriend? i can’t even remember his name, but im sure if i saw more of them i would know it!

I remember seeing a snippet of an interview with siblingbot v. 2.0 a couple of years ago. She stated that she had learned from the disastrous nuptials of siblingbot v. 1.0 and she wanted to wait until her late twenties to even consider marriage. She saw how when people marry young they often don’t even know who they are, let alone their partner. That’s by far the most intelligent thing I’ve heard from ANY Simpson. And I totally agree. Everyone I know who married straight away from high school or university is now divorced. And we’re in our early thirties! That’s crazy. I digress … I find it foolish to marry for the sake of a pregnancy. Either you love, cherish, respect, are loyal and treat your partner with dignity, or you don’t. If someone is an ass/bitch or cheats before a scrap a paper says you’re bound legally, the only difference that paper makes is a longer, bigger pain in the as split. Gawd, I digressed again … over.
Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz getting married? Hell, I bet Summers Eve and Massengill are in a full on brawl right now to see who will get to sponsor this festival of douche bags. And when it comes to a lot of speculation about Pete and you .most of that speculation is about whether Pete Wentz is only a little gay or fruitier than Elton Johns banana hammock. Hey Pete, heres a hint ..youre not supposed to be wearing more makeup than the bride! Ashlee you better get ready because Pete has put in special requests for your wedding shower gifts. Youll be getting a Clay Aiken mask and a giant strap on. Did I say that? Man, I am such a jerk because weddings are so beautiful. I can hear their vows now .Do you Douchey McDouchebag take Ass-face McLipsyncer to be your wife? Do you promise to have and to hold and to never steal her eyeliner?
