TMZ: Lindsay Lohan is the ‘victim of a bad diagnosis’ for ADHD

42746, BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA - Tuesday July 20 2010. Lindsay Lohan arriving at the Beverly Hills Municipal Courthouse with Shawn Chapman Holley as she prepares to serve her 90-day jail sentence. The actress was earlier this month ordered to serve 90 days in jail for missing alcohol counseling sessions which formed part of her probation terms stemming from a 2007 DUI conviction. TMZ is running some very pro-Lindsay Lohan stories today. In one, they claim that Lindsay’s problems are all due to the incorrect Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder diagnosis she received years ago, leading a doctor to put her on Adderall, which is essentially prescription speed. For people who don’t need Ritalin, it can make them manic and out of control, behaviors we’ve certainly seen from Lindsay over the past few years. I think her issues go much deeper than that, but of course being on speed is going to make her spiral downward. Where does personal responsibility come into this equation? Plenty of people get prescriptions for all sorts of things and don’t become addicts who piss away careers and get multiple DUIs. When they see that things are getting out of hand, they check themselves and/or get help. Not Lindsay, although if you consider her immediate options her situation makes much more sense.

According to another story on TMZ, Lindsay has been weaned off of all of her prescription medication, including Adderall, but she was never a serious addict and it’s some bad doctor’s fault she was on it in the first place. Lindsay is expected to return home from rehab sometime in the next two weeks.

TMZ has learned … the doctors who have evaluated Lindsay Lohan at UCLA have concluded she does not suffer from the drug or psychiatric problems that were previously diagnosed.

Sources familiar with Lindsay’s treatment at UCLA tell TMZ … there’s a feeling among doctors that Judge Marsha Revel “overreacted” when she ordered Lindsay to stay at the facility for 90 days.

We’re told Lindsay has been “weaned off” all of her meds — Dilaudid, Ambien, Adderall, Zoloft, Trazodone and Nexium — and has had no adverse reaction. Likewise, she has had no withdrawal issues in the alcohol department. Bottom line — the docs don’t think Lindsay is an addict.

And, we’re told Lindsay was misdiagnosed in the past with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) — which is why she started taking Adderall. The UCLA docs say LiLo does not have ADHD.

And finally, as for having psychiatric problems — again the doctors say it’s just not the case. Morningside Recovery — the rehab facility Judge Revel initially chose for Lindsay — determined she was bipolar, but the docs at UCLA say she is not. Our sources say Lindsay suffers from a personality disorder, which is all too common in society and sometimes partly the result of difficulties when growing up in Hollywood.

Our sources say the doctors are recommending an early release from UCLA — we’re told they think the maximum amount of time she should spend there is 30 days — followed by outpatient care…

Lindsay Lohan’s Adderall dependence — the result of a medical misdiagnosis — may have been the reason she went off the rails.

As we first reported, the docs at the UCLA rehab facility believe Lindsay was misdiagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder … and then prescribed Adderall to treat the phantom affliction.

Dr. Joe Haraszti — a prominent L.A. addiction specialist — tells TMZ … people who take Adderall when they don’t need it can experience similar effects as people who use cocaine or methamphetamine.

Dr. Haraszti tells us … people who unnecessarily take Adderall can display manic symptoms … and often do things like “driving around until all hours of the morning … smoking heavily … tweeting … and texting all night long.” The doc adds, “They can become very impulsive.”

The doc also notes that people in that situation “might then complain of insomnia and then take Ambien or other sleep aids to help fall asleep … it’s a vicious cycle”

Dr. Marc Kern — another addiction expert — tells us alcohol abuse is also very common among patients who take Adderall.

Dr. Kern tells us, “The Adderall counteracts the sedative side effects of alcohol use … making these people often drink more than someone who does not take the drug.”

Bottom line — a bad medical diagnosis may have set the ball rolling that unhinged Lindsay’s life.

[From two different stories on TMZ]

This sounds just like Lindsay – it was somebody else’s fault, and she never had a problem anyway, and even if she did it’s all better now and she’s fine and “working,” and we never let her just focus on her career. It could be accurate, though, that Lindsay probably isn’t as lost a case as they normally see in that facility. She’s not going to change, though, if she doesn’t lose some of that sense of entitlement. I could be wrong, and I hope I am for her sake. Can you imagine if she got out and seemed a lot more clearheaded and regular all of a sudden? Yeah, that’s not going to happen and even if it does it won’t last. But go ahead and prove me wrong, Lindsay. You’re about to get a hell of a lot more chances to mess up.

    that & ‘bad parenting’ 🙁

  2. wonderful says:

Yeah, right, 24-year-old sober people develop not one, but two sets of bags under their eyes allll the time.

  3. jc126 says:

Some people do take Adderall to get high. If you don’t really have ADHD, it’s like a legal version of cocaine. I’m sure Lindsay knew she didn’t have ADHD and just wanted to get high.
The bipolar thing – way overdiagnosed. And Morningside Recovery has been on Intervention, if I remember correctly. I wonder if that place is not so great.

  4. Hautie says:

Geez when did Harvey hire Dina to write their copy?

What is not being address is that Lindsay most likely got the Adderall for what she used it for.

Legal speed to drop her weight.

She manage to get some questionable MD to write the script and off she went.

But for any medical professional to claim she has not been abusing the drugs and alcohol is suspect. Looking at her worn out face tells a complete different story. One you can not lie about.

I thought UCLA already had to settle a huge lawsuit over personal medical records making it to TMZ. (I believe it was Farah Fawcett’s records that finally got everyone fired.)

So how is it that TMZ has this allege diagnosis of Lindsay?

  5. Lisa Turtle says:

“Bottom line — the docs don’t think Lindsay is an addict.”

No. Once you are in rehab you are treated for addiction. The only people left on earth who don’t think Lindsay is an addict have the last name Lohan.

  6. jammamma says:

Told ya. (To all the haters that bashed me)

  7. bagladey says:

Team Lilo’s still playing the blame game. Now it’s a wrong diagnosis instead of the most likely truth that Lindsay “copped” a prescription to Adderall. How does a small child who can focus to learn two sets of dialogue to play two parts in the same movie have Attention Deficit?

  8. LittleFATMe says:

Um, this trick was paying doctors to get high. BUT OF COURSE – it turns out it’s not her fault. It’s some d-bag doctor. Poor, poor Lilo.

  9. wonderful says:

If she isnt an addict of ANY kind, why the SCRAM anklet? Why order rehab at all? Why is she the only actress in Hollywood that people, including other actors, continually call out/voice their concerns/spread rumours about in regards to her drug use? This suggests her addictions are far more OBVIOUS and extreme than the majority of Hollywood, and that says a lot. Do they think we are stupid?

  10. sapphire says:

Lots of explanations still missing-like why a dentist prescribes opiates usually given to terminal cancer patients. How and why was she diagnosed with ADD. And why is an individual on an amphetamine given Ambien.

A personality disorder IS or can be a serious problem-it’s not treatable in the long term.

  11. mln says:

It’s against federal law to for UCLA to release any info to anyone except the judge so this is more Lohan B.S.

  12. Julie says:

Oh PLEASE……… I’ve had enough of the BS concerning this woman. Like she wasn’t doing coke & probably meth as well. I do hope she gets better but this is sugar coating a serious problem that someone has.

  13. Fluffy Kitten Tail says:

She was on Adderall because it is the legal form of meth. She is/was a meth addict, and no one can convince me otherwise. She didn’t want to get in trouble for trying to score meth, hence the Adderall.

  14. Julie says:

@ Sapphire…she was probably taking Ambien to come down off all the other drugs. At some point, she is going to have to catch some shut eye.

  15. Merry says:

I agree with Hautie: she knew she was taking Adderall without having any medical issue, so she could to get high and lose weight(probably learned the trick from some other Hollywood starlet).
On another note, many children/people diagnosed with ADHD and other disorders linked to hyperactivity are usually treated without arsh medications and are completely fine. Adderall and similar are only used in really complex cases, at least here in Europe.

  16. celandine says:

I expect I’d get a diagnosis of ADHD if I went to the docs coked up to the eyeballs!

  17. LolaBella says:

And this is why this woman will NEVER have any sort of personal accountability!

Between her celebrity-wannabe, ‘parents’ (who have got to be the most delusional, self-absorbed people on earth) and the UCLA doctors they are continuing the cycle of Lindsay blaming everyone ELSE for her problems.

What about the illegal drug use?

    What about the alcohol abuse?

FFS, this woman needs to put on her big girl panties, accept responsibility for her mistakes/problems and get serious about getting and staying sober.

The authorities really need to go after these disreputable doctors who are prescribing all of Hollywood with these unnecessary medications.

  18. jackson says:

It’s against federal law to for UCLA to release any info to anyone except the judge so this is more Lohan B.S.
    =====

Um, with Lilo’s consent, this information can be disseminated to the public/media outlet via her lawyer, publicist or doctor.

  19. Riley says:

This is weird cause didn’t she give a story about how she knew her life was spiraling out of control and she could not get a hold of her addiction to cocaine without the help of rehab? Maybe she just gave that interview for money, though. Maybe her mother manipulated her into giving the interview for cash since Disney wasn’t calling anymore. I think LL needs to ditch her Dina. I think Lindsay will do a lot better on her own without her dumb as a box or rocks mother trying to be her voice. Not everybody’s parents are good for them. Drew Barrymore’s life really turned around for the better once she legally and emotionally freed herself from her parent’s manipulation. These stage mom’s kill me. It’s as though someone said to them, “Look, through your child, I will bring fortune and fame to your family. You will be known all over the world and everyone will scream your name. You will wear the best clothes, drive more than one of the fanciest cars, and have houses in every major city. I will give this to you but keep in mind that by the time your child is 22 she will be spiritually dead. Her life will be tormoil. She will not know how to live on her own as an adult, and this is if she lives at all.” To which, the mother’s replies, “I think that will be ok. We will have money so we can take care of those problems when they arise.” Money ain’t everything, honey.

  20. mln says:

    @jackson
You are right HOWEVER she can also choose to withhold whatever information she chooses which is why I think it’s B.S.

  21. TQB says:

I agree, Adderall = legal speed. In a perfect world, this would actually all be true and she would roll out all put together –> and maybe people would think twice about putting young children on heavy medication.

Since it isn’t a perfect world, I’m sure this is all BS, but still, people need to realize how toxic Adderall is and stop peddling it to little kids who have mild ADHD and frustrated parents and/or teachers. I wasn’t diagnosed until I was an adult, and as an adult I choose not to take that stuff. I am forever grateful that no one diagnosed me as a kid and put me on that crap before I was old enough to know better. Schools push parents to medicate children just because they don’t want to deal with their hyperactivity. Pathetic!

  22. Gwen says:

How stupid are these people? Adderall is a drug people use to lose weight – you just go to the doctor, lie about ADHD, and get a script. That doesn’t explain the coked out carjacking, or being caught multiple times with coke in her possession or on the table. She’s an addict and it’s obvious to anyone who doesn’t have their head firmly planted in her ass!

  23. emu says:

If you believe this, you should look up hater in the dictionary AND, Google HIPPA. Then I’d like to sell you a bridge or two…

  24. jackson says:

    @mln

Hmmm…did you want the full report? The information that she was misdiagnosed and is not an addict is sufficient information to berates all the rumors that she was an addict. If the doctors release her early, then that in itself speaks for itself.

  25. Praise St. Angie! says:

    “berates” all the rumors?

    did you mean “negates”?

    Lindsay, is that YOU?

    if so, be adequate.

  26. logan says:

    BOYCOTT THIS TWIT!!!!!

  27. Ohforf says:

Adderall is one of the most abused prescription drugs available today. She probably went to the doctor seeking it and made up the ADHD story to get it. I’ve seen it in the area where I live too, and it’s predominantly girls and right about her age group too. No doctor “did this to” her, she just wants someone to blame for her piss-poor addict behavior.

  28. Lucy says:

Send this delusional, disfunctional and drug addicted human to live with Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar for 90 days. They will whip her into shape in not time.

  29. jackson says:

    @Praise St. Angie!

Ha! Um, no I meant ‘berate’ as in rebuke or criticize. (French kisses Praise St. Angie). I think you need to keep your grammar lessons to yourself. And no, I’m not Lindsy…you only wish!

  30. TQB says:

@jackson, nope, sorry, still the wrong word.

  31. jackson says:

Why is it when someone defends Lilo, people here get into attack mode and start acting crappy? I noticed that about commenters here. I’m not a follower (aka sheeple) or will kiss butt, like some people here. Just cause you’re negative about Lilo, doesn’t mean that everyone else has to share the same senitment. I don’t appreciate people acting like their in high school or getting facetious with me because of it. So not cool.

  32. jackson says:

    @TQB

Okay, maybe I used the word wrongly. I can live with that. I’ll use an appropriate word next time. Thx

  33. Innocent says:

Sorry this post was a typo

  34. Innocent says:

This proves this Judge was wrong to order the 90 days of court ordered rehab and the sentence she imposed for a minor probation violation was reprensible.

You can bet Lindsay will be getting out of rehab early as she should have never been there in the first place

  35. Praise St. Angie! says:

well, “berate” doesn’t mean “rebuke”, and one doesn’t really “criticize” a rumor.

berate means to “scold”, so I don’t know exactly why you’d use that word.

unless you’re Damon Wayons character from “In Living Color”…

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WrjCX8ude04

    “Allow me to proctologize myself…”

EDIT: oh, I see you’ve “berated” yourself already.

  36. TQB says:

What isn’t cool is trying so hard to use 10-point words that it makes your point unclear

EDITED to remove the snarky dictionary quote, which wasn’t cool. My apologies, I’m hungry-cranky.

  37. red says:

In this case, it’s not Lindsay saying “You’re all wrong,” it’s the doctors at UCLA, a highly reputable institution. The Neuropsychiatric Institute is world reknown. I wouldn’t question it. It’s true that people take Adderall as uppers. If you have ADD/ADHD it evens you out. If you don’t, it hypes you up. (Unless you’re allergic to it, and then the reaction could be anything). Sure, her life is a trainwreck and her parents are HORRORS but I’m not so sure that she was able to make sane choices if she was mis-diagnosed and mis-prescribed.

  38. wonderful says:

    #37 – please see comments #7, #16, and #22.

  39. krissy_kitty says:

Because LL would NEVER go to a Dr. and lie about having ADHD symptoms. (full body roll)
She got busted one too many times with coke and figured out that you could get a script for Adderall and not worry about anyone questioning her because she “has” ADHD.
She is a full on addict to anything she can get her hands on and we will be having this same conversation in 1yrs. time again.

  40. grisgris says:

So she is not an addict just a plain old a**hole.

    Just as I suspected.

  41. MissyA says:

That smug smile is going to fall off the Lohan’s collective faces once they realize they’ve got to work hard to get back into the manner to which they’re accustomed.

And by “manner to which they’re accustomed”, I do mean legal speed.

  42. jackson says:

    @Prairie

Um, yeah, berate does mean rebuke. Here’s the definition:

    http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/berate

Duh…so, it seems that I did indeed use the words ‘berate’ and ‘facetious’ correctly. I guess we know who needs the grammar lessons here. HA!!! Thanks for making yourselves look unintelligent.

  43. Marjalane says:

So she acted like a cracked out freak all on the strength of her own shitty personality? Let’s give her a million bucks for her “story”. Right.

This little twat was taking Adderall to keep her weight down just like half of Hollywood does and now we’re supposed to feel sorry for her? Sorry, not going to happen.

  44. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

I’m not sure how acting like this because of choice rather than compulsion is supposed to make her more sympathetic.

  45. soxfan says:

    This is Lohan spin-nothing more.

  46. bellaluna says:

I call BS!! Lindsay started using Adderall when she & Sam were dating because they were participating in that competitive under-eating game (using that word loosely here). Look how much weight she lost during her time with Sam – that’s why she started on the Adderall. No one will convince me otherwise.

Of COURSE it’s not Blohan’s fault. Is it ever? 😛

  47. Fluffy Kitten Tail says:

I love those that come here and say Lindsay had a MINOR probation violation! *eyeroll* .

The woman got one DUI, and THEN got another while she was on probation, was also found to have drugs on her and hijacked a car. You tell me, HOW IS THAT MINOR? She should have been in jail on the second DUI.

Don’t know how the law works in California, but where I am from, a 2nd DUI while on probation lands you in State prison, not county jail but prison for 120 days. No exceptions! If at any time you violate after you are out of Prison you go back. Now how is it that she gets 2 DUI’s, has coke on her person and carjacks someone and she only gets probation. Those are not minor things and she should be serving more time, not having people feel sorry for her and criticising the big, bad, judge.

The girl is a druggie and she is an actress who can lie her way out of rehab. Many normal people lie their way out of rehab, telling the doctors what they want to hear, so why couldn’t an “accomplished” (I use that word loosely) actress fool the docs?

No sympathy here, and she is an addict. I have known many and she is the definition of one.

  48. Praise St. Angie! says:

and “rebuke” ALSO doesn’t mean negate, according to that website. it means “criticize”. a person is “rebuked”, a rumor is “refuted”.

and though I’m not the one who brought up the misuse of “facetious”, you were in error there, too.

but hey, I’m always entertained when people use words they think they know how to use but don’t.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBM6CBtuHS4

UGH. OK, I’m done. sorry to all of the folks that had to read this crap. Have a nice day.

  49. jackson says:

    @Prairie

Still at it? All you have to do is admit you’re wrong. I never said the word rebute means negate. You made a reference to that, I didn’t. You clearly don’t know what the word ‘facetious’ is either. Sucks to be wrong.

Just admit you’re wrong. You’ll feel better for it. 🙂

    Have a great day!

  50. TQB says:

jackson, even your dictionary links prove you wrong. Why don’t you try admitting it?

  51. Nudgie says:

I’m just here to ‘refudiate’ the misuse of ‘berate.’ 😉

  52. Ruby Red Lips says:

Regardless of this ‘official’ announcement thats Lohan is not an addict, she is still a heavy drug user and alcohol user who has destroyed her face in a small matter of time (due to meth which she was def on at one point)

Agreed, now Lindsay can argue again that she is once again an innocent victim…..

    Blah…..I give up!

  53. california angel says:

Bad diagnosis seems suspicious, she probably went in knowing the symptoms and (edit) knowing exactly what she would get for them. Many a friends pulled that move to help them study in college and (edit)they wouldn’t sleep for days. Im no angel as far as illicit substances are concerned but it kind of discredits people who are legitimately suffering from ADD/ADHD. I’ve only know one person with legitimately diagnosed ADHD and when they took their meds, they would fall asleep. People with (edit) ADD/ADHD have a unique chemical signature and the brain responds pretty much oppositely to an upper like amphetamines than someone without the condition. P.S. I know my grammar sucks today

  54. mollination says:

The stuff about the adderall is spot-on, and I am sure that it is PART of Lindsay’s story. But what of her 17-year-old days when she wasn’t on the adderall and wasn’t disgusting looking, but was STILL out all night getting into trouble?

That is the crackie that lies beneath the layers of crack she’s been dippin into lately. So, we have multiple crack issues if you will.

Not to mention, um, bags of coke and lines on a mirror in the south of France anyone?

  55. original kate says:

lohan was using adderall probably to stay skinny, as does every other actress in hollywood, i’m sure, prescription or not. and what kind of doctor leaks medical information? it’s illegal, so that tells me this “doctor” is a figment of dina lohan’s insane imagination. i’m tired of this no-talent skank and her trashy family.

@ jackson: negate, berate and rebuke are all different words and not interchangable. negate is to nullify, berate is to criticize and rebuke is to censure. rebute is not a word – i you believe you meant refute? the dictionary is your friend.

  56. elvisgrace says:

@Jackson – Your posts are becoming more and more unintelligible.

  57. Fluffy Kitten Tail says:

Jackson, FYI, it is Praise, not Prairie. Not sure if you were trying to be funny, or not, but if you weren’t , there is her correct name.

  58. Innocent says:

    @Fluffy Kitten Tail
After the first DUI she spent 45 days at Promises, voluntarily wore a SCRAM and then was formally booked after she was released.
Shw wasn’t placed on probation, her license was suspended and she was given a court date of August 23rd
Only 0.4 g of coke was found in her purse in the wrecked Mercedes a felony charge is a minimum of 0.5g

    2nd Dui
I don’t think the individuals who claimed she “hijacked” and “kidnapped” them are credible.
The cops dropped some of the “unknown white substance”that was on the card on the floor. Also the cop apparently thought it was a wet crushed breath mint on the card and threw it in the bin. According to TMZ he looked at the floor and thought it might be cocaine and recovered the card from the bin.

    TMZ
“The cop says the coke was in the trash for about 2 minutes. He put the card in an evidence envelope, then scooped up the coke that had fallen to the floor and placed it in a separate evidence envelope.
    In short — EVIDENCE CONTAMINATION!!!”
She was then given the same court date of August the 23rd for the 2nd DUI and went to rehab again.
The only extra charge she got for the 2nd DUI was driving on a suspended license she was not on probation when she commited it.

She had Blair Berk as her lawyer who helped negotiate the very reasonable plea deal
She was a young offender with a difficult upbringing and dysfunctional family who sought rehabilation after both of the crimes were commited.
She was given the minimum sentence 4 days cut to 2 days in exchange for 10 days of community service with 1 day credit for time spent in custody.
As her lawyer said she had done everything rehab, visits to the morgue, jail time, community service etc.
She even completed the program within the deadline and made up the few classes she missed.
It was a minor probation violation and even the prosecution disagreed with the extremely harsh sentence imposed

  59. Vanessa says:

Hmm. I stayed in that hospital and they misdiagnosed me too. UCLA hospital, that is. Worst hospital EVER! Bad doctors, the patients smell bad, and I was the only white person there!!! (not that has anything to do with it-I’m not saying anything racist or insulting to anyone just my experience!) Ugh.

  60. Crash2GO2 says:

It surprises me that no one here seems to have considered the fact that she may indeed have been diagnosed as a young child as having ADHD and been prescribed the Adderall. I think the real concern here is the tendency of doctors to overdiagnose ADHD and to write prescriptions to make parents happy and feel like something is being done to help their kids.

  61. Ruby Red Lips says:

Thinking about it, what makes this last diagnosis more accurate than the initial ones?

The ones where she IS an addict…

Why is this one suddenly the right one & the others (many saying the same) are suddenly wrong…

Hmmm…maybe mama Lohan slept with all the staff to get this diagnosis…(or pimped her daughters out)

  62. Jeri says:

I think “she requested” all of the drugs, including the Adderall and the doctors came up with medical reasons for the charts. No one said her age when she started the Adderall.

We’ll see how her porn Linda Lovelace movie goes. She said there was no nudity in it but the producers said there was “total nudity.” I’m betting the producers are right.

  63. Jeri says:

1st Picture: I know it’s Lindsay but it looks like White Oprah, hard to tell the difference.

  64. TQB says:

@Crash2GO2, exactly, we need to stop doping up children who have only minor issues! I get it, it’s frustrating to have a kid (or be a kid) with ADHD, and I’m sure the serious cases require meds, but you can accomplish amazing things with behavior modification and hard work.

  65. Erin says:

Wasn’t Brit Brit misdiagnosed too? Also, Courtney Love says she is on Adderall. I doubt these two women have ADHD. It seems like a popular Hollywood drug.

  66. Fluffy Kitten Tail says:

@Innocent- Your name says it all.

You will not sell me on anything with Lindsay and too harsh of punishment.

Let’s not lose sight of the facts, that when you get a DUI, you get a DUI! She was driving DRUNK. She had cocaine in her system and she did violate her probation. I do not know one state othe than California, who lets DUI multiple offenders skip any jail time.

Please do not tell me about Promises, a cushy place where celebs and rich people go to get “treatment”.

How would your opinion be if your family was killed by a person like Lindsay, a multiple DUI offender and druggie? Do you think it is okay for her to be driving at high speeds, in that condition? Are people capable of driving safely?

She deserves what she got and far more. Grow up and look at the statistics on people killed by drunks driving. She learned nothing during all of this, except how to lie better.

No need to respond, as I am done with this topic. Lohan is trash and she deserves more jail just like the rest of teh people who are actually serving their time for deeds similar to hers.

  67. skeptical says:

so if lindsay doesn’t have ADHD then how’d she get the adderall?

I agree with those who say she shopped around until she found a doc willing to provide the scripts she wanted. She realized how often she’d been getting caught with cocaine and so she switched to legal drugs.. legals drugs she was even allowed in jail.

That’s probably why Revel demanded the rehab. Only a medical rehab would be ALLOWED to carefully wean someone off prescription drugs.

Edit: I’m right there with ya Fluffy. Lindsay chose to get behind the wheel while in that drunken state (and probably high too). She put other people in danger. Drunk drivers kill people. Drunk drivers are a public health hazard. Lindsay has been treated with kid gloves.

  68. BethL says:

I don’t know why people are so quick to say drugs are Lindsay’s problems. I don’t know why it hasn’t occurred to more people that she just sucks and is simply an irresponsible, entiled, brat.

  69. soxfan says:

For the love of Pete, she has been to rehab 4 godd*mn times, whether court ordered or not! She has a problem-she publicly stated after either the first or second DUI, that her life was out of control and she had problems w/drugs/alcohol. Sounds like addiction to me. @Innocent-are you really that clueless?? Does it matter how much freakin’ coke she had on her??? It’s COKE and it’s ILLEGAL.
Lohans-morons every single one of them.

  70. gg says:

The girl is an addict in denial, no matter how you slice it. She will resumate her prevonious behaviorage soonequently, I predicate. 😉

I think we should expotate her.

  72. GatsbyGal says:

So will it finally be her fault when she dies?

    that is all….

  74. bellaluna says:

Actually, this is her 5th trip to rehab – she went to both of her previous “rehab vacations” twice each, with the exception of UCLA.

    2 + 2 + 1 = 5

  75. Adderall really isn’t “legal speed” when ingested properly. At least, not if it’s taken on a regular basis because the body quickly builds up a tolerance to any speed-like effects, and these are minimized by the medication’s slow entrance into the bloodstream.

However, it CAN be used in the same way that cocaine can be used… by crushing and snorting the pills. Up the nose and straight into the bloodstream, so to speak.

  76. DD says:

since this subject is very close to my heart, I will say from personal experience that untreated, undiagnosed adhd can over a very long period of time be extremely destructive and psychologically disabling. ritalin has made life much more bearable and stable, and probably saved me. I hope one day I won’t need it any longer, a lot of this has to do with the stigma of this medication. It is very embarassing to need a medication to function properly over the long term. Not many people comment about the positive effects of ritalin for all the bad stuff I read about it.

  77. d says:

Well, anyway, my bet is that she still won’t get that career comeback everyone keeps talking about and that she’ll still be a jerk to everyone around her, except those she wants something from. They may have fixed her prescriptions, but likely not her attitude. Or her upbringing. Or the fact that she’s got Dina Lohan for a mom and Michael Lohan for a dad.

  78. Joe says:

Bullshit. Alcoholism is not about the drinking. It’s about the thinking.

  79. Greta says:

UCLA may have a world class reputation, but from personal experience with a family member, I found they have a questionable level of expertise, integrity and devotion to helping patients. Other than that, I’m sure everything Mommy Lohan told TMZ is the complete truth.

  80. sauvage says:

A personality disorder seems likely – it’s actually very common. Girlfriend needs some serious therapy. As for her being released early, I think that’s irresponsible. She needs some time away from all the madness (read: her parents, espacially her enabling mother).

  81. Morgan says:

The fact that Lindsay sought out these prescriptions is more than obvious, but what might be more telling of the fact that she DOES have an addiction (at least to stimulants) are the prescriptions for Nexium and Ambien. As someone who heavily abused adderall at one point in my life, I will tell you that the feeling you get of this lump in the back of your throat when you take WAY too much of it is even worse than the sleeplessness. And when the abuse is chronic, the feeling doesnt go away, so you need to start taking other medications to deal with the side effects of your abuse and Prevacid (otc Nexium) always worked wonders for that lump feeling, as did Ambien for the insomnia

I do actually have ADD and can tell you for a fact that may of the other ppl with ADD that I know do in fact get a mild stimulating effect, because not everyone is hyperactive (thus just add and not adhd). but I never got chest pains, or crazy insomnia or that lump in the back of my throat when I was taking it at the prescribed dose (since I always struggled with weight issues the abuse started when the appetite suppresant effect wore off which it does quickly when you take it the right way). Those symptoms only come when you abuse adderall (and not merely take it as prescribed) and abuse it at a really high level of about 150-200+ mgs a day, every single day. That kind of abuse definitely takes more than one prescription per month to sustain too, so don’t think Lindsay didn’t get a second, third, and fourth opinion about that “misdiagnosis” as well

  82. Sara says:

I thought it was common knowledge that many Hollywood girls, Paris, Nicole, Lindsay, take ADHD drugs to stay skinny.

  83. Mrs Odie 2 says:

Joe, alcohol is a disease of the body too. Even the Big Book says it is an allergy of the body and an obsession of the mind. It has to be treated on both fronts.

  84. CB Rawks says:

If she’s not a drug addict and she doesn’t have a mental disorder, then she should be straight back in prison for wilfully and deliberately breaking the law over and over for her own amusement. Those fake problems are the reason she was let out of jail, to supposedly “get help”.

  85. Sisi says:

Wow, well if this is the case, Lindsay will be so thankfull that the judge stepped in and send her to rehab. Because otherwise this misdiagnosis would never have been discovered. Right? (yeah, I don’t think so either)

  86. Roma says:

Why would they expect her to show signs of alcohol withdrawal when she had been in jail?

I still believe that she went to Shapiro’s rehab to do a rapid detox before jail.

  87. Terrifying! says:

First of all the comments are hilarious on this site, better than the story in so many cases! I dip in here now and again & find the celebrity antics so much fun to read about (they’re rich, famous & good looking yet still have problems like the rest of us – not how to pay the electricity bill but y’know heartbreak, bad choices in friends & clothing, that kind of thing 🙂 But I find this story worrying. Not because I don’t believe Lindsay isn’t a hardcore party girl (& when I read stories about her and other celebs I thank God no-one ever documented my twenties in such detail!!)but because whether or not this story is true it’s more than possible that each and every one of us could be ourselves misdiagnosed at some point in our lives. Or for love of another accept a misdiagnosis and the resulting treatments as necessary. Doctors are the best we have and a massive improvement on the last few hundred years of ‘modern’ medicine. But everyone is fallible and mistakes happen. But people seem to expect their physical/mental health and their childrens to conform to some kind of average or norm. If there seems to be a problem both patients and doctors seem over eager for a quick fix when sometimes it’s just not necessary. That doesn’t leave much scope for artistic expression (not talking about Lindsay!)and the eccentricities that used to be accepted and even celebrated not so long ago, remember when we were supposed to be individuals? So, I realise I’m being long-winded but I had two points to make (eventually!) 1: People – please stop jumping into drugging your kids for being a little different, hyperactive or somehow not conforming to your norms.
2: Wouldn’t bet a cent on Lindsay livin’ the quiet life, pills or no pills! She likes to have a good time & it’s not as though all the bars in the world are gonna stop serving anytime soon!!!
