This news came out a little while ago, but we missed it in the shuffle. Colin Farrell was seen wearing what looks like it could be an ornate wedding ring on his left hand. The 32 year old Irish actor was photographed at the airport in LA smoking a cigarette and talking on the phone. When he spotted photographers he put his left hand in his jacket pocket, awkwardly holding his phone on his left ear and keeping the cigarette in his mouth.
The gossip press is speculating that Colin may have secretly married his young sweetheart, student Muireann McDonnell, 22. Colin met Muireann at a party during the 2006 holidays in Dalkey outside of Dublin. She was working at a gourmet food store nearby. The two were photographed on a romantic holiday in Italy in May, 2007.
Colin was previously married to English actress Amelia Warner for five months in 2001. He has a special needs son, James, four and a half, with his ex girlfriend, model Kim Bordenave.
Farrell recently lost 20-30 pounds to play a guilt-striken journalist in war torn Bosnia in Triage, a film adaptation of a 1998 novel by Scott Anderson. These latest photos look as if he’s gained a few essential pounds back. His character isn’t married, according to the synopsis of the book I read on Wikipedia (spoilers in that link obviously), so it’s not probable that he’s wearing the ring for the film.
Congratulations to Farrell if he’s married. If he’s not, then many of his fans will breathe a sigh of relief.
Okay, I wear rings all the time, and before i was engaged I wore rings on my “wedding ring” finger. I think that this looks like he is just wearing rings for the heck of it, I mean he has a ring on the opposite hand, same finger as well. It may be true, but you don’t hear a lot about Colin and this girl, I’m sure there would have been and “insider” somewhere that would have said *something*

Why did you say “special needs son”? I know it’s a bit nit picky to mention it but Colin has given a couple interviews where he’s stated he doesn’t define his son by his condition.

If Colin is engaged or married, good for him. It looks like (to me, at least) that he really began getting his life together after the birth of his son. He’s probably in a better, healthier place now than he was during his first marriage.

I think it’s ok to mention his child is special needs. I agree Colin went off on a young actor asshole tangent (the chain smoking through interviews, trying to be brooding, constant swearing for effect)
but he seems to have calmed down. he’s made some interesting movie choices (Cassandra’s Dream, In Bruges..) lately and seems to be more grounded. Certainly don’t see him all over tabloids like he used to be. I read an interview where he spoke candidly about his son and it was really touching. I can only imagine how hard it must be to properly nurture a special needs child and he seems to embrace the role. He’s proud of his kid as he should be; he is photographed doing things with his son too. Its’ heartwarming and actually made me like him. He is the opposite of Travolta and that creepy wife of his who keep their son (I think is severely autistic, I believe) under wraps. They are out with their other kids but not the special needs child. And they might say they do it under the auspices of ‘protecting’ him from he public, but I don’t buy that for a minute.
ACTUALLY IT WAS KEVIN SPACEY THAT BROUGHT COLLIN TO THE STATES WHERE HE INTRODUCED HIM TO JOEL SCHUMACHER.

Banana Boat, I wholly agree with you. But what’s particularly admirable about Colin is that he was a strong supporter of children with disabilities before his son was diagnosed – he was a special ambassador for the Special Olympics in 2003 and he offered to do the same in 2007.
As for swearing…. I don’t think it was for effect – if you’ve ever been in Dublin, you’ll know what I mean 😉

yes i heard from a close source, around aug of 2007( after they already had a brief brake up ) colin ask her if she would move to los angeles after she finishes her college & the reason was colin wanted to be near his son james cause he needed to spend more time with him which lives with kim in los angeles she said no she would never do that cause she loves dublin and hates los angeles, so colin said i love dublin too, i grow up there and i rather be there with my friends too but my son needs me and i have to be there for my son & that’s the reason for their break up.
after the break up, she started being so nasty & vicious toward colin in any which way possible & she did that in afew british magazines as well as internet, to make him do things her way, i rather not repeat them here, i used to like her too but after the break up when saw her mean & manupalitive side, i changed my mind cause with attitude like that even if you get married it would eventually ends in divorce any way.

I’ve edited my first response here as your longer post about them no longer going out wasn’t showing. Actually I was surprised to hear her name mentioned here – I had assumed they broke up ages ago. I don’t follow gossip about him, so I wouldn’t have heard any different.
It’s an interesting story you have Shia. I have to say I find it difficult to believe all of it (breaking up because she didn’t want to leave Dublin, I do – the rest I don’t. I’m not saying that it’s untrue, just I don’t believe it)
Could I ask where you heard she was a geology student from ferb beh? Because even the broadsheet newspapers said she was medical at the time of the inquest. Not that what she studies matters, but if sources are getting that info wrong, then chances are anything else they say is suspect.
