She’s beautiful and looks perfect if she were a normal woman on a beach, but if you’re going to be in a bikini on the runway, lose the rolling back fat.
She looks amazing for a normal woman, but it’s a model’s job to look thin. She doesn’t look model thin. They make loads of moeny for looking a certain way. Not everyone can go on the air and deliver breaking news or edit video the way I do, but I’m expected to be able to that stuff because it’s my job, it’s what I’m payed to do. She’s not doing her job here.
She doesn’t look as thin as the other models. Like say Giselle. Anything extra is considered fat I guess. But, yeah, she doesn’t look like the other models.
She’s not fat.. but for a model I can understand the criticism. People are so inured to eating disorder/anorexic skinny models that someone like her causes a stir. And what does that do? It take attention away from the designer she models for.
She’s paid to be a clothes hanger. Modeling is a brutal business but the models who sign on know this; they make inordinate amounts of money to be scrutinized. Us average folk toil many hours and rarely see that kind of money. In everything there is a trade off. If she doesn’t feel comfortable conforming to the strict requirements she can perhaps retire, or just do print work. Or even start a swimwear, accessory, etc. line like many of her predecessors.
Lose the rolling back fat? As another reader already pointed out, it’s called skin. Comments like that make me feel relieved to have sons. Raising a daughter in a social climate like this would be a challenge, to say the least, and I admire parents who can do it well without losing their minds.
She’s modelling a bikini folks, and she is ROCKING it!!!! I think that she’s the perfect shape to model and sell it because THAT is what women want to look like. THAT is what men want women to look like! THAT is prrrrrrfection! humina humina humina
…and how many adolescent Brazilian models have died of anorexia recently? The hypocrisy is nauseating– people wring their hands when a young girl dies but then they bark at a woman who is just moderately underweight. Not that the U.S. is really any better, though…
Here’s a story I covered last year about two sisters in Uruguay who were both models and who both died within six months of each other from heart failure related to anorexia. Now, these models are paid to be pin thin, sure, but I don’t want to see those sticks and I would more willingly buy clothes modeled by healthy hotties like Kurkova. I am not stinking rich either, so I’m not the elitist starved snob these couture lines are targeting, but there needs to be some changes in the sizes of the models.
She looks awesome, gorgeous, pure sex in that bikini. I hope the line she was modelling for defends her to the end. Sexy is not angular, like you would break if you were hugged or would cut your partner with all the bones sticking out. She is perfection.
She looks sexier than the broomsticks. But it seems the thinner you are the better the clothes hang. So she probably should lose about 10 pounds and she’d be perfect. After all, that’s a requirement of the business she’s in.
This woman is not fat. She does need to work out a little and tighten up. She doesn’t look fat just a little jiggly.
We all get that way when we don’t excercise. I think any woman, no matter what weight, looks nice when they are tight and healthy. Healthy doesn’t mean you have to have your ribs showing.
I once read that wedding shows typically hire models in their mid-teens to display dresses and accessories. Since these girls have a youthful look that is unattainable by most brides, the vendors hope that women will become desperate and buy up as much as they can in a futile attempt to look like the models. I think fashion is the same way– by putting forward only women who are mentally ill (anorexia counts) and near death, they create an unattainable ideal. The hope–and truth– is that women will spend, spend, spend on products that claim to make them able to attain this ideal. But snce it cannot happen, women just keep spending… the same is true for men, too, but is (IMO) generally more of a financial/sexual goal than an appearance goal.
You are kiddin’ me, right?? The child is bending to the side where her skin is bunching! That isn’t fat .. that is loose skin from her body bunching around her rib cage.
Holy crap .. so much for that little experiment of not pushing the anorexia agenda!
What a group of *$$hole Brazilian Fashionista B**ches. 👿
Yes, it’s true that she is curvier than most models, but so what? Why not make this the norm? Why not change the standards so that this is considered beautiful instead of models whose bones you can actually count through their skin. As for people saying she is contractually obligated to stay thin…she is thin. She is thinner than 80-90% of the women in the US. Most of us would have to actually cut off a leg to weigh what she weighs at 5’11.
Sorrrrrrry! That is her j.o.b. and she’s carrying too much weight for what she was wearing. In normal land-she looks fantastic-sexy….but in runway land she’s getting mucho money to show up ready-for-duty.
Yup, McKenna said it, why not make it the norm? In that top photo she’s drop dead gorgeous. It’s sexy when a woman isn’t counting her calories obsessively.
Ok, sure she looks a little heavier than most VS run-way models but she still looks fab! I can’t defend her belly button though — there’s something weird about it IMO 8)
Wow, this is sad. It’s because of people like the ones on this blog calling her fat that models are dropping dead of anorexia. Why not become part of the solution and change your way of thinking so that designers and modeling agencies won’t be forcing these girls to look skeletal.
Yeah, to the people who are saying she is “fat” because she appears to have some actual flesh underneath the skin:
When you looked at the photo, you had the reaction “that’s fat”. Do you know why you had that reaction? It isn’t because this woman is fat. Our whole concept of thin/fat is drilled into us by images of women who had unnaturally thin frames (and doctored photos). Deciding what is fat is a judgement call, a subjective assessment, and we have gone too far into the range of praising the abnormal.
Do you know why businesses want our reaction to Karolina to be negative? It has been proven that the more harshly we judge each other, the more harshly we judge ourselves. Following this, it is pretty unlikely that even the people criticizing her feel thin and beautiful. It’s great for big business when woman hate ourselves because then we will shell out millions and millions of dollars into the beauty industry to try and whittle away our imperfections.
This is just disgusting. All you people who say “it’s her job to be so thin” need to just go to hell. No job–NO JOB–should require someone to maintain an unhealthy weight. Instead of ragging on her, you should step back and think critically about WHY you think she’s fat. Is it because she is or because you’ve been taught to think that she is? Yeah, that’s what I thought. 🙂
Oh, and to add, know who else benefits when women hate themselves? People who don’t have to compete against women for power because we are all too busy crying in the bathroom after standing on the scale.
OK, 10-20 years ago she would be considered too skinny to model – Hello, remember Cindy Crawford? She would be trashed worse than this poor thing, simply because she was a -GASP!- size 6. The trend toward sickly thin as fashionable is dangerous and scary – and I’d glady trade the 80s supermodels for nearly any of the anorexic twigs walking the runways these days.
“Oh, and to add, know who else benefits when women hate themselves? People who don’t have to compete against women for power because we are all too busy crying in the bathroom after standing on the scale.”
Oh come on – you were making perfect sense until you went and blamed it all on men. Let me ask you a question, when you ask a guy what he thinks is sexy, how many men say ‘gee, I just hope she looks like a malnourished 13 year old boy’?
How many straight men work in the fashion or modeling industries? I’ll tell you, not a whole hell of a lot. Look at the women who consistently top the ‘sexiest’ lists: Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Shakira, Elizabeth Hurley, ect. These chicks aren’t exactly wasting away.
You’re right, the image is unhealthy, but by and large, straight men aren’t supporting it. Gay men and other women support it. Let’s put the blame where it belongs instead of tossing it into the pile of ‘crap those evil evil men do to keep us down’.
honestly, seeing someone NOT skin and bones makes the item more attractive. I have boobies and I have a butt… if they would like to see REAL fat…lemmie know… I wont shock em.. I will KILL them…hahahah…wait thats not funny…..
I find it ludicrous that the Brazilian fashionistas are calling her fat. As someone else pointed out, Brazil has one of the highest rates of anorexia and anorexia related deaths in the WORLD. They bemoan the plight of their youngsters and call her fat? SMH, SMH… 😯
Maybe there are many women and gay men in the fashion industry, but I am not just talking about that. You are absolutely correct that most heterosexual men do not find painfully thin women attractive. It is also true that most straight guys I know think that the vast majority of fashion trends look downright ridiculous.
I am talking more about the presidents and CEO’s of advertising companies, make-up companies, etc. Here’s an example of what I mean: take a look at advertising images around you. I bet you $100 that you will see more images of women with the head cropped off than you will find of men that way. Male images in advertising focus on the face, while images of women focus on the body. It is dehumanizing.
The “high fashion” industry isn’t the whole story. This is one example of a society that is skewed to teach women to aspire to unrealistic ideals of physical beauty (and teaches us what to value as beauty). Please believe me when I say that I am not blaming all men for this. Note that I did not actually say “men”–I just said “people who complete for jobs”. This can also apply to other women. 🙂
Anonymous Realist: are you seriously implying that heroin wasted thinness is somehow more appropriate, attractive or sexy than a woman with curves? If so, check your head, quickly. WOMEN are not pre pubescent. Somewhere in this obsession with ematiatedly thin looks is an underlying obsession with prepuberty and THAT is sick.
Oh give me a fucking break. EVERY single chick I hear say “Oh I wish I looked as good as her, she’s not fat” is just kidding themselves because THEY are fat and love anyone who makes them feel as though they can justify their lazy physique.
She’s a runway model. She’s supposed to be super skinny, and she is not. To the “former anorexic who had flaps” that were supposedly skin. Yeah fucking right. Yes, skin does create flaps to a certain extent, but not as much as that.
Look at her arms, they’re sausages. She gained weight, and she’s a model and therefore held to a different standard. If I came to this site and it was shoddy and had grammatical errors everywhere, I’d call you all out on that because you weren’t doing your job right. And neither is she, at the moment.
Get over it. The runway is for skinny women, which she is not. She’s not fat for a normal chick, but for a model, she is. Stop fucking wishing you looked like her and get off your ass and do something about it instead of applauding any woman who allows you to continue your self delusion that its ok to look like a fat slob.
Another example of what I mean was something I saw in a Victoria’s Secret catalog. There was a photograph of a woman who looked beyond perfect. Coming out from about 20 areas of her body (eyes, thighs, tummy, etc) were lines pointing to products designed to repair/enhance them. All told, this one page ad suggested the purchase of about $700 worth of items designed to “fix common flaws”. Now, you show me one example of something like that with a male subject, and I’ll give you another hundred. 🙂
You go Julie!! Now go get back on the scale and cry some more. Maybe shave your pits while you’re at it, sounds like you’d need it. I’m not about to sit around feeling sorry for models who knew what they were getting into from day one. It IS her job to be thin, it is. Stop deluding yourself because you’re sad that you cant stop stuffing your face long enough to get fit, yourself.
You are disgusting. To suggest that because someoene is advocating healthier body images in the media, they must be fat is inappropriate and juvenile. You’re an idiot.
I am reluctant to ‘disagree’, because honestly, I do agree with you. I think that nearly all marketing isn’t designed to say ‘you should want this’, but to say ‘you NEED this or you’re fat/not fashionable/not cool, ect.’
But to say it’s aimed more at women is a little naive. There aren’t 1000 late night infomercials about home exercise machines that are primarily targeted at men? What about the billion or so different ‘cures’ for baldness? Erectile dysfunction medications? Come on. Marketing is designed to make EVERYONE feel bad about themselves, not just women.
I remember not too long ago there was an article on this site with pictures of Brad Pitt on the balcony of his house with his shirt open, and more than a few women called him chubby. If THAT was chubby, 90% of my friends that are married with kids are chubby too – and most of us are ex-military.
Well, the cut of the suit is appalling and it hasn’t been fitted properly. I stopped buying anything at VS beaucoup years ago when the quality went into the crapper. (Okay, it’s been a looong time. VS has been crap forever.)
It’s hysterical that fashion editors, most of whom look like absolute beasts, have the unmitigated gall to criticize this young lady.
To those who think all of us saying she isn’t fat and is perfect are ourselves overweight, my BMI is ‘normal’, at the lower scale. Didn’t even know what my bmi was until we picked up Wii fit, which is a lot of fun btw.
And, Scott F. is right, if straight men were running the fashion industry, all of the models would look like the one above, maybe even a bit fuller, gasp!
Gosh what a sick sad world we live in. How many times have I seen models so thin that their bottom bikinis look like they’re falling off. Or all bunched up. It looks gross. I think women modeling bikinis should have a little more meat and curve to their figures. Kurkova has a better body than most of those skinny models and looks fine here. Thin enough. Her face however is not. Never thought Kurkova had a pretty face.
I hate to say it but it’s the job of a supermodel to look thin! Models give us something to aspire to! If she stays this weight her career will be over unless Lane Bryant is hiring! If I were the designer, I would’ve spared the embarrassment of having her walk the catwalk. Just being honest! 😆
Models give us something to aspire too??? SAYS WHO?? She looks fab. Its funny I’m actually happy to be me…I don’t have any desire to look like anyone else but me.
I’ve got four kids, three of them boys and we talk about how its OK for people to look different, be different sizes have different opinions and live their lives their own way. As long as its healthy and doesn’t hurt themselves or other people. Looking like a walking coat hanger, being able to see bones through skin and denying yourself the proper nutrition you need to be healthy is NOT ok and no part of society should be advocating for it including the fashion sector.
The fact that those bikini bottoms don’t look good on such a smoking hot woman says more about the crap cut of the bikini than it does about her. It demonstrates that high fashion is for androgynous girls with 18% body fat. It is the fashion industry that has dictated models be super skinny because they think their clothes look better on skinny girls. Here’s an idea: design clothes that look good on real sized women and model them on real sized women. After all, it is generally only real sized women in their 30s and 40s who can afford to pay for this high priced shit anyway.
Well, of COURSE she was called fat. She was doing a runway show in Brazil! Compared to all the waifs they have there, she’s a cow! Moo, heffa!
Seriously, she’s beautiful, has proportions that most women would kill to have, most men would kill to fondle, and most queens would kill to have been born with. She’s being criticized by the very people who 1, spent most of their adult lives hanging onto a toilet bowl after “binge eating” some tic tacs and beer, 2, have stock in Hoodia, 3, is married to a plastic surgeon, or 4, simply could never look that good skinny OR “fat”.
Saintdevil, so do I! Haha albeit a fat one and less orange.
I think she looks gorgeous, except her belly button looks a bit odd. But apart from the odd bellybutton, she looks lovely. Whether or not she’s broken her contract is another matter, yes she looks lovely, but models are expected to be thinner than that. Perhaps the contract needs to change? I’m sure Karolina has just aged, to be honest.
This story focusses attention on the terrible body fascism women have to endure all the time. This woman is normal and healthy but that’s not good enough.
And if someone blessed with HER genes is branded “fat”, why do the rest of us even bother getting out of bed in the morning?
I’m Brazilian, and I’m sure no “adolescent Brazilian models have died of anorexia recently” Mary Ann… Where are you getting the “Brazilian statistics” anyway? I should sue them :P. Visit some of Brazil sites (http://ego.globo.com/Entretenimento/Paparazzo/0,,7188,00.html) and you’ll see some cellulite-free healthy women.
You’re all loosing the point here, the problem was not only the back fat, but the whole careless look (back fat, cellulite, flaccid legs, all easily changeable for a pretty and rich lady like her), coming from someone whose only responsability is to look good. If you have a butt like that don’t embarass yourself coming to Brazil to model bikini, go model pants, or something.
I’m not insane, I don’t take broomstik skinny as a dream, or a go… And a person has to be kind of stupid to take it seriously as a pattern… but THIS GIRLS ARE PAID FOR IT.
she may not look like the other models (ie: way sexier and more luscious so screw them anyway) but the standard is not set in stone… nor is there some scientific reason that says models have to be bone thin… basically, there’s nothing preventing us from changing this standard and PAYING THEM for looking like something else… besides, images of models are everywhere and it effects us all… so i disagree with people who act like this is some sort of ordinary job title… the standard we promote effects millions of young women all over the world… so don’t just throw your hands up and claim immunity because some “holy being” out there set a standard and you must simply abide… more and more, i think it’s heroic that women are coming out looking halfway normal… kudos to them… it’s a warzone out there on women’s bodies and it’s sad 😐
ya ppl sometimes portrait being skinny as something completely unhealthy
wich is so not true! not always!
Modeling is a business, and THEY SET THEIR OWN standards, NOT US! period!
and if half of you would stop stuffing yourselves with bad carbs and fat the whole day, which btw also does terrible things to your health…
ya´ll wouldn´t have that much fat to talk about!
No, I’m sorry. That’s not good enough. She is only 24, she has no excuse to have so much cellulite! And I can see it.
She’s a model, this is her JOB. It’s her job to look perfect.
I mean, come on!! I know I don’t have that much cellulite on my butt and thighs, that’s for sure.
Though never even getting close to her status, I’m an ex-model (in the 90’s no less that was Katt Moss era of emanciated) and I absolutely love this. Good for her! The pressure to loose weight is still overwhelming even when you get paid a 10th of what she does. She’s the best at the biz and is sending out a great message that a normal weight is still beautiful and runwayable. This is a photo I can show my 5yr old daughter-too bad fashion magazines won’t go to this level….I canceled all mine to try to keep the industry out as much as I can because it’s just a matter of time before she gets bombarded with the “beauty” industry. Yes it paid my way through college, but the brainwashing of hearing I had to be a size 2 to be beautiful for 7 years will probably never get out of my mind.
Carla- You know what? You are right, I was making a generalization about Brazil that was quite likely unfair. I was thinking of the two Uruguayan sisters that Celebitchy referred to above (I promise I know the difference between Uruguay and Brazil, honest!), and then I googled and found reports of several more deaths. However, that’s not really enough evidence to comment on an entire culture. So I definitely will cop to being intellectually lazy and uninformed in this area and offer my apologies. 🙂
However, I still do not think that KK is fat, and I don’t think that modeling salaries justify eating disordered behavior and ideals of extreme underweight. To me, it’s similar to professional athletes that take steroids– they are taking a major health risk, which others will then have to take to be as successful, and I think it’s wrong. We can agree to disagree though.
To Scott F: I hate those infomercials!! 🙂 I get angry every time I see one of those “male enhancement” product commercials because it is exactly the same thing–playing to insecurity. I do think women have it worse, though, in general. Just look at the check-out magazines. Every single one has an article for a way to “lose 10 pounds fast”. Men, in general, view their physical forms as more attractive than women view themselves. The culture is growing to be more critical of men’s bodies, but this is relatively new. I hate both, though, and you are awesome.
To whoever above said I must be fat, well, I probably am by your standards, but screw off. 🙂 I had an eating disorder for years in high school because people teased me as a kid for being fat. I am fit and healthy now–I dance, figure skate, and have a well-muscled body. But while it is sad for men to be so critical and cruel, it is amazing to me how women are so cruel to other women. Do none of you have anything about yourselves you are insecure about? If not, then it is clear that your personality is the most unattractive part of you, thin body or not. I’ll keep my lot, thanks.
Why is anorexically skinny considered the ideal for a model? They should be slender, but not sickly looking. That model looks absolutely lovely and anyone who says she is fat is a moron. Unhealthy and skeletal is not the feminine ideal and should not be promoted as such.
My mother is anorexic and has been my entire life. I have seen her go in and out of hospitals, missing holidays, etc. because of her illness. Yet, by modeling standards, she would probably be considered fat, now that she’s stable at 5’7″ and 112 lbs.
It’s a disgusting ideal. The girl looks slim, pretty and healthy. And she looks fabulous in that bikini. Wish I were “fat” like her!
She’s not in shape–she’s not fat, but it looks like she doesn’t do any toning exercises or weights at all. If you’re going to make $5 M in one year as a bathing suit model (which is how much she made last year) you should be hitting the gym.
UGHHHH
These people need to learn that in this case “chubby” actually means “healthy.” No need to go switching word meanings on us, you crazy fashion mavens, you.
Larissa, being TOO thin is an incredible strain on the heart… just as being too fat. I have no idea who is educating you but I assure you they are wrong.
AS a target demographic textbook walking living and breathing, I am telling you, that women in my position in my age group are not interested in insanely thin women/waifs.
HOWEVER, a tone woman represents what we are… strong, in control, and in charge of our own lives.
The RUNWAY system is appealing to celebritards that have to be TOLD what glamourous is. And the whole waif industry thing happened with kate moss. Since Kate’s intellect is not equal to mine, I think I will pass on any craze started by her.
Generally speaking, women who look like that often to me anyway appear to have the same look as a drug addict. I have no interest in that association. I won’t hire someone like that either. Call me biased. I don’t care.
To be frank, the girl in that picture is NOT fat she is just simply lacking the gym for a few weeks. OUT OF SHAPE and FAT are different conversations. And I do not think she looks BAD.
However, all these companies question slacking sales. THAT is because when you sell a look that we are not INTERESTED in, we are not going to buy it. The major purchasing power in this country by women are the 30-45 year old women who are secure, in charge, and fun.
But we are not interested in clothing that does not emphasize our strengths and assets.
I would rather see physically fit women who have curves on the runway ANY DAY over these anorexic women who irritate me.
To Julia and Scott F. for a clear and well-thought debate.
Julia, thanks for sharing your background.
I think that stepping back and asking ourselves why we need to judge people and to define “fat” so definitively. When you react strongly to anything in life, ask yourself why. What does it matter to you so much that you need to post a comment on this person’s body? What is upsetting about this woman’s body? And if you say it’s because she’s “fat” “ugly” “not doing her job” – what does that say about us that we create a job where the goal is to examine people’s skin and contours so carefully to determine if we approve. Fashion influences style, but it’s really an art form. What does it say about our art that we are not allowed to be real?
Thanks all for your comments, even the negative ones. It’s all very interesting to read how each of you reacted.
Runway fashion is all about showcasing the clothes–that is why these women look like human hangers. All of them are sickly skinny. it is ridiculous.
Karolina is also a Sports Illustrated model (the Mt. Olympus of bikinis bodies)These are the kinds of women who should be modeling bikinis. Heidi Klum looks like a woman should (with curves) whereas Gisele is a freakishly tall bag of bones with no boobs. Brazil and Tom Brady can have her (seriously Tom, baby mama Briget Moynahan is so much prettier!)
Fashion mags air brush and manipulate pics to make average looking women look perfect when they are not.
All this industry does is create unattainable images of the female form that cause women to develop eating disorders and low self esteem.
PS- that bathing suit Karolina is wearing is butt ugly–let the Brazilians keep it along with their rude comments and ugly women.
Are you all kidding. These women have a job. That model is too heavy for a runway!!!! She looks great for print ads.It is not a comment on weight issues. If you had 24/7 to be prepared-you would be ready. The designers choose these models way in advance to obtain an overall look for a particular show-she was too heavy, period.
Miss Sue Mac why is she too heavy?? Swimsuits made now a days are so ridiculous. I’m a size 6 and wear a size large bikini bottom and XL top from Juicy Couture-when my Gap shorts are 4-6. They make bands that cut into your sides and little strings that tie in your back-and if they are designer make them smaller than normal sizes. If you have an ouce of extra skin or fat it doesn’t look right because we compare ourselves to what the adverts or runways look like. She’s thin and healthy and gorgeous. I was in the industry (read above) and so against it now. All the naysayers on here say it’s her job to look like skin and bones because she walks run way to sell clothes. Who the hell buys those clothes???? WE DO. Are we skin and bones. They are creating a fantasy world that none of us are a part of and will do anything to be in. I have a 5 yr old daughter and think about who’s a celebrity today. You’ve got the skin and bones girls, the ones who were just born into a wealthy family, or got peed on in a sex tape.
She looks amazing and I’m proud of her like she was my own daughter because of the lengths I had to go to be a model. And let’s hope this trend continues.
she looks like she’s in her first trimester of pregnancy or maybe even pms-y bloating. I’m a model too, and unfirtunately when our bodies go through water weight gain or homrmonal changes- we cannot help the course of nature- so remember that the next time you al comment on he we’re “Paid to be skinny”… You are right- but we are also human, not Robots [like Victoria Beckham!!!]
Re the comments about how “it’s a model’s job to be skinny”, well, no..no it is not.
A model’s job is to show off the wares to the best of their ability as is defined by the designer themselves. In this case, unless it is the designer who put her on the runway which is now complaining, and in which case should never have put her on the runway, then…she did the job she was hired to do.
Models do come in all shapes and sizes and, for swimsuit modeling it is not unusual for a model to have a few more pounds than a couture model would normally have.
As for the 80’s…anyone remember the S.I. swimsuit models?
At the moment she walked down that runway she was too heavy for that swimsuit.Do I know about clothes-yeah!! I have been a size zero to a size 18.I know what puts the bloat on a thin person. She had a wicked case of the bloat.I would have used her in a different garment.Yeah clothes are messed up!! Even at a zero I had to buy a GAP extra large rain coat??? I buy clothes for comfort and style.Do I think those women are representitive of society at large-no…do I think they are role models for girls-no.But they never were-same as Barbie. You can only do that job for a short period except for rare cases.I don’t want them to be role models-thats what presidential candidates, authors and mothers are for.
I always wonder why models are required to be tall? It’s not as if the rest of the world is 5’7″ or better. Some of us are a “mere” 5’3″ and clothes look entirely different on us, than they do on models, even if we are thin.
The press that covers Sao Paulo Fashion Week is sickening. People in the industry there are sickening. We in Brazil live in a country full of curvy women, thay praise Gisele for being “skinny with curves” and then when this comes along they say stupi stuff like that. I feel that’s a need for attention. Karolina looks beautiful. And healthy, and that’s what models should look like. 😕
people please… look at the picture where you can see her from behind… her hip is way to wide and her botcheeks disgust me including her fat legs making her bot almost disapear, I might actually throw up if I look at it one more time… Also her arms are a little bit fat – so I have to ask, has anybody in this discussion ever seen a beautiful woman?
Don’t answer that, this was a rethorical question
OMG, are they kidding??? 😯 😯 Man, jealousy really is a beast and not a good look on anyone. Of course, I immediately went to the “ass shot” picture to see for myself and what I saw was a FLAWLESS ass and beautiful, mile-long legs that I would kill for! No wonder so many young girls (and older wommen, nowadays) have such body image issues. Whoever called her fat must subsist on a healthy diet of cocaine, cheap vodka and envy!!
Wonderful. She looks like a woman. And I ask you, what is wrong with that?
I have enough of the “yeah, “normally she would be perfect, but you know, the model business is different and you HAVE TO….”
I say NO, we are the customers and what do we do? We are dumb enough to get them to torture as and then go and buy their loathsome designs. The ideal is that of a boys body. And there is no way, that alle models SHOULD look like a 16 year old boy. I am sick of it.
yes, and how exactly did you become an expert for womens hips, buttcheeks, legs, arms…? Did you manufacture them and now you are just not satisfied with the newer “models”? I guess they have a way to good life, yes that is what makes them fat. Put them to hard labour, poorness never fails too and voila – a manufacturers perfect ‘model’
what a hopeless fool you are
Verena, first of all, thanks for admiting my opinion… your subtone as well as your words unwillingly express your agreement with me, business and attitude have changed for one obvious and only possible direction. Thanks to extremly skinny models, and I’m not talking sarcasticly, this direction, you already pointed out with the word “newer” is called acceptance. It’s ok nowadays for a model to be a little bit chubby. Or in other words, rather cubby then nearly dead. To sum up, don’t confuse the words fat and chubby… in the Model world either you are “perfect” or “fat”. Besides it’s not ok that you’re trying to settle a new social regognized perfect girth, just because you want the world to agree with your own. The “perfect girth” nowadays is medically the healthiest one and any other direction you are going for would mean loss in health.
i can see why she is considered a bit big but before the hating starts let me say my figure looks very similar to hers (except i’m 5’2″)! and i am considerd thin. the difference? i live in the real world and make my living as a pastry chef, and she lives on the catwalk and makes her living looking a certain way. actually she doesn’t look fat, just looks like she needs to tone up a bit. in any case she should definitely lay off the tanning – her skin looks like an old catcher’s mitt!
Yes, she is fat for a model; having said that, I would trade my slightly portly frame for hers, as is. Bythe way, in the world of thin, a size 12 is a plus size. What a shame!
Yes, she is fat for a runway model. Having said that, I would trade my slightly portly body with hers in a flash. By the way, a size 12 is a plus size. How sad is that!
Wow. She Has A Little Cellulite. Just Like 99.999% Of All The Rest Of The Women In The US. Ohhh, Shocker. Seriously. Just Cause She Ain’t Grossly Anorexic Is Not Something To Be That Criticizing About. It’s Not Like She STILL Doesn’t Weigh Less Than Like 90% Of America. Get Over Yourselves… 🙄
realy too fat. I know lots of good looking girls with a little cellulite, beautifull girls, but too fat for the supermodeljob, the real big money. Well kk is professional enough to know it better :), and shit happens.
This model looks like a male-to-female transsexual. Her face looks like a man’s. I’m glad to see that she has a little meat on her bones now, but she’s still not very attractive.
I want all the models to start looking like her…I am sick of this “anorecsic look” that all the movies and magazines show!! I want to see real people , not fourteen-years-old girls or women thats are non stop on diet!!
She gets paid to look amazing and sell the suit. Which she does. Ill bet that if you put her side by side with thiner models like Carmen Cass and asked a hundred men to pick they would all pick her. Models are not paid to be skinny, but to look gorgeous. Why on earth should she look any different. She isn’t fat or thin, but just right. Having a flat ass is NOT attractive. Ill bet every person that complains is either female or a gay man.
A model looking beautiful in their clothing does not detract from a designer. Thats the stupidest thing I have ever heard. First of all, fashion is all about change, you dorks. Models from the 60’s don’t look like models from the 70’s who don’t look like models today. So NO. Being different, as long as it is attractive is not a bad thing. I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of designers or photographers looked at that and thought..hmmm…I like that. Looking not flat assed. Yeah. Like looking a way that most men would not tell you “get out of my bed, you look like my son” So sh is doingher job. And if people criticize, so what? It makes them look stupid, not her.
I’ve read countless comments about how weighing over 90 pounds in the modeling industry means she isn’t doing her job. But why is that so accepted? She looks gorgeous here. Who decided that beautiful means you have to live up to impossible standards? This body type should be the norm, not some malnourished twig.
The lady is gorgeous and certainly not fat; but from a super model stand point, her body is out of shape. She being paid millions of dollars to be super fit, not have love handles.
Guatr Hastalığı,Guatr Kanseri be guatr tedavisi konularında bilgi içeren en iyi internet sitelerinden birisidir. Gutr, tiroid bezlerinde olan bir rahatsızlıktır. Guatr kanseri yada guatr nodülü bu bölgede olur.
Honestly, america has become far too excepting of people being overweight.
Don’t compare her to everyone else because a majority of American people are overweight.
She seriously needs to lose the weight because she’s paid to be skinny. Period.
She doesn’t look that bad in this picture but its still pretty bad and the others look even worse.
She gets paid ridiculous amounts of money to be skinny so she needs to either stay skinny or get a different job.
She is not fat. And you don’t have to be 90 lbs. to b a Victoria Secret model. Victoria Secret models lose their contract if they get too skinny. The average V.S. model is 115. Plus they don’t look for weight, they look for measurements. they want their models to be curvy, so get your facts straight. Shes not fat, even for the skin rolls and the cellulite on her butt she probably looks 10 times better than more than half of you people commenting on how she looks “SO FAT”.
She’s beautiful and looks perfect if she were a normal woman on a beach, but if you’re going to be in a bikini on the runway, lose the rolling back fat.
That happens to ANYONE’S back when they walk swaying their hips. I had that “back fat” when I was anorexic and 78 lbs…its called skin.
While she looks lovely, any chance she’s pregnant?
I feel like an asshole typing this, but these women get into this business because they are skinny.
They are paid disgusting amounts of money to be skinny.
You have to go into modeling KNOWING you are going to be torn apart if you weigh more than 90lbs.
That’s not to say I don’t think she looks gorgeous. It’s NICE to see someone on the runway, and not see their internal organs poking through.
I wish I was fat like that! I mean fit. The girl is smoking.
Yah, what Silent A said. That’s what I was trying to get at.
She doesn’t look as thin as the other models. Like say Giselle. Anything extra is considered fat I guess. But, yeah, she doesn’t look like the other models.
Calling her “fat” is absolutely ridculous! I wish I looked half as “fat” as her. Maybe she was just having an “off” day.
I’d give my left leg to look like her now and believe me, this woman’s body is just perfect.
elisha – glad we’re on the same wavelength!
Heidi Klum has spoken about how it was in her contract to QUICKLY lose her post-baby weight. (http://www.parents.com/family-life/celebrity-parents/health-beauty/baby-weight-hysteria/?page=3)
That’s my point, models are contractually obligated to be skinny anomalies.
I would be pleased as punch if all models looked like Karolina Kurkova all the time.
Not that the U.S. is really any better, though…
the cut of those bikini bottoms is awful- I think that is part of the problem
I don’t know about the fat thing, but her nose could catch a hell of a fish!
Well, this is one model you won’t have to worry about dying from anorexia. Maybe the others will follow suit.
I’m sure they think she should be starving herself to death, how dare a woman actually eat every now and then.
No wonder there are so many eating disorders nowadays.
She looks awesome, gorgeous, pure sex in that bikini. I hope the line she was modelling for defends her to the end. Sexy is not angular, like you would break if you were hugged or would cut your partner with all the bones sticking out. She is perfection.
She looks nice and healthy to me…I like my women with meat on their bones.
She does look like she’s gained a few pounds from prior photos, but she still looks amazing!
That’s one big girl ! Too big to be modeling. Sorry…
If Kurkova is “curvy” or “healthy” ie: fat, then I am Beluga. I’m never wearing a bikini again.
SMH, SMH… 😯
To Scott F:
These comments make me laugh here is a woman that is thinner than any of you and she still is too fat. Oh boy we seriously need to grow up.
Winners Use Drugs
You are disgusting. To suggest that because someoene is advocating healthier body images in the media, they must be fat is inappropriate and juvenile. You’re an idiot.
if she´s fat, i am jabba the hutt
Oh noes, back fat! What a tragedy 🙄
Besides, I’d rather be “fat”(by their standards) than scary thin any day!
Btw, Winners Use Drugs, your comment was so offensive I’m not even going to get into it.
Well….she does look alot heavier then she was…this is true!!
She is paid to be a thin model and frankly these pix do not reflect that…Having said that she does not look that fat, just a little plump!
Woohoo!
Finally I look like a Supermodel.
Albeit a “fat” one.
I’m sure Karolina has just aged, to be honest.
and we wonder why so many young women develop complexes… she is beautiful.
This story focusses attention on the terrible body fascism women have to endure all the time. This woman is normal and healthy but that’s not good enough.
And if someone blessed with HER genes is branded “fat”, why do the rest of us even bother getting out of bed in the morning?
“OK, 10-20 years ago she would be considered too skinny to model – Hello, remember Cindy Crawford?”
This girl does NOT look like 80’s Crawford. Crawford was muscular and sleek. This girl, not so much.
For a real person, she’s hot, but for a model, she could lose a few pounds.
I know I don’t have that much cellulite on my butt and thighs, that’s for sure.
the point is that this woman is not fat… and if you think she is, then you’re either brain dead or just a jackass…
I’d give almost anything to be fat like her…
So, like where is Diva Micah ?
What does Diva Micah have to say about this 24 year old swimsuit model ?
Folks, it’s genetics.
This beautifu woman does not have the body of a 14 year old boy…which is what the camera favors.
Tough. Get over it.
She looks great. I would love to look like her.
If she is fat then I am obese. period. I think she looks damn good.
HATERS!
I’m a model too, and unfirtunately when our bodies go through water weight gain or homrmonal changes- we cannot help the course of nature- so remember that the next time you al comment on he we’re “Paid to be skinny”… You are right- but we are also human, not Robots [like Victoria Beckham!!!]
excuse, my misspellings I was in a hurry…
Sorry, but she did let herself slide a little. She shouldn’t be in a bikini on a runway but sporting outfits, she’d be fine.
I always wonder why models are required to be tall? It’s not as if the rest of the world is 5’7″ or better. Some of us are a “mere” 5’3″ and clothes look entirely different on us, than they do on models, even if we are thin.
What the hell, of course she’s fat, look at the second picture! eeeeeeeeew… 😯
how sad is that????!!!!
calling her fat is like calling Vivienne Westwood a beatuyqueen = just so not true!!
people please… look at the picture where you can see her from behind… her hip is way to wide and her botcheeks disgust me including her fat legs making her bot almost disapear, I might actually throw up if I look at it one more time… Also her arms are a little bit fat – so I have to ask, has anybody in this discussion ever seen a beautiful woman?
Don’t answer that, this was a rethorical question
her hips, legs, ass, and boobs are what my guy friends DREAM of! Where’s the prob?
shes looks hot. i wished i looked that good.
To Marc:
yes, and how exactly did you become an expert for womens hips, buttcheeks, legs, arms…?
Get Over Yourselves… 🙄
that’s not fat that’s beautiful it’s better than the skinny toothpicks we have now. AMEN gurl u keep struttin ur stuff! 🙄
realy too fat. I know lots of good looking girls with a little cellulite, beautifull girls, but too fat for the supermodeljob, the real big money. Well kk is professional enough to know it better :), and shit happens.
SHE´S DEFINETELY 😯 HOOOOOT! NOBODY WANTS TO SEE A SKINNY, HUNGRY MODEL. THIS DISCUSSION IS WAG!
This model looks like a male-to-female transsexual. Her face looks like a man’s. I’m glad to see that she has a little meat on her bones now, but she’s still not very attractive.
I want all the models to start looking like her…I am sick of this “anorecsic look” that all the movies and magazines show!! I want to see real people , not fourteen-years-old girls or women thats are non stop on diet!!
shes to fad for a model!!!
It makes them look stupid, not her.
she is not fat!!, but she DOES NEED TO WORK OUT TO LOOK TONED UP, THAT WHAT SHE NEEDS!!!
I ran into a website which I think might be useful to you guys who want to buy p90x, as the price is unbelieveable.
She IS fat! That picture of her back is disgusting. 🙁 There is nothing tight at all. Seems like she never visits a gym.
