The last we heard of 41 year-old Hung star Thomas Jane, he was filing for divorce late last summer from his wife of four years, Medium’s Patricia Arquette. Arquette and Jane had a rocky relationship, and first filed for divorce in early 2009, after which they reconciled for a while. So it looks like they gave it a good shot, maybe for the sake of their daughter Harlow, nearly 7. That’s why this news of Jane’s latest relationship just rubs me the wrong way. According to Star he’s dating a 21 year-old actress he met at a Christmas party. He wasn’t cheating and he’s single but I never pegged him for the type to go out with a girl young enough to be his daughter. It makes me think way less of him.
Thomas Jane and Renee Olstead, an actress on the ABC Family series The Secret Life of the American Teenager, made their relationship official when they were spotted hand in hand at the Golden Globes. Thomas and his estranged wife, Patricia Arquette, pulled the plug on their four-year marriage for good last August. He was miserable for months – until he clicked with Renee at a December holiday party. “The relationship is moving fast, but they’re definitely still in the hot-and-heavy stage, kissing and touching all the time and for all to see,” says an insider. Apparently their 20 year age difference – Thomas is 41, Renee is just 21 – hasn’t been an issue. Adds the insider: “they think it might be love.”

So Star didn’t just make this up and Jane was actually seen holding hands with this girl. It’s just typical male behavior during a midlife crisis, and it’s disappointing in Jane’s case. I’m not really surprised by much lately, though.
Look at this girl and tell me if she looks above 20. I would guess she was 17. This isn’t a Hugh Hefner level age difference by any stretch, but I still find it creepy.
This got me wondering when Hung is coming back. I watched it the past two seasons, but it started to really falter this last year. It will be back this summer on HBO, along with True Blood, which is what I’m really anxious for. Maybe Thomas and this young actress will be long over by then. I’m sure they have so much in common, though. (eyeroll)

I’ve seen him on interviews and he’s an odd duck which is why I thought he was perfect with Arquette, I’m sorry they couldn’t work things out. This chick is too young for him.

I’m on the fence about watching Hung when it comes back. I felt like it got to the level of sheer ridiculousness for awhile and that eroded the soft spot I had for the show.

If he is looking for some one young to be with fine, she is looking for someone older.
Will they stay together forever? Probably not, they are only dating…

He and Arquette were perfect together. That arm nymph is just using him … and I suppose he is using her to get over Patricia.
I don’t know if it’s the age difference so much as the strange vibe this pairing gives off. Plus, she looks like every other run of the mill “actress” to me, and she’s posing way too hard in these photos. I’d like to see him back with his wife, but if this does not happen, I hope he will move on quickly from this girl.
People are always so mean on these things just for the sake of being mean. Everybody has a choice and never is it fait accompli. What you choose speaks only about you. Isn’t Renee Olstead the girl who had that great singing voice at 15? She used to sing the old standards (beautifully) like Michael Buble. I remember watching her being introduced by David Foster on an (Oprah(?) show as this incredible talent and an old soul.
Despite that this is an odd match up! AT least he gave his marriage another try before getting into this May /Dec relationship!

It most probably won’t last. She’s too young and unexperienced to settle down with him long term. Unless he breaks if off then she will by the time she’s 30.

She is very talented according to IMBD she plays violin, sings, dances, does character voices, sign language, etc. She was very funny in that comedy series “Still Standing”. What on earth does she see in him? He way to old for her. She could do so much better…
I had no idea that was Renee Olstead! She has such an amazing singing voice (I have 2 of her CDs). And she used to be an adorable red head. Now looks like every other singer/actress/model out there. Sad.

When I was 21 I ran around with a 44 year-old guy for awhile. It was the age difference that made it fun, neither one of us were planning to get married and pop out babies, was just something new and different and still a little “off limits.”
Can’t blame a middle-aged guy for trying — and succeeding — to convince himself and those of us who pay any attention that he’s “still got it.”

I used to watch Secret Life now and then if I caught it while channel surfing. Her character is so ditzy, I just can’t see her being a mature enough 21 yr old to be with someone 21 yrs older.

I had no idea she was such a good singer either! I havent seen the pregnant teen show – but I remember her from Still Standing. She was so cute with her curly red hair. She is still pretty – but she is sharing that slutty look that every other actress now has.

Ah, so this is where men in my age group are – dating 21-year olds. Everyone has baggage, I guess I don’t see that as a big deal, unless someone wants me to carry it for them. I’ve had conversations with men in their early 20’s. Yes, they are great looking. But there’s something really nice about talking to someone who is your peer.

They will have really fun sex, they will tire of one another, they will split naturally, they won’t be angry, or bitter but will depart as friends. As a person his age I would tend to stay away from women this young… why? The reason they have no baggage is because they have no experience, I want a woman. Not a little girl who was playing princess at the prom a few years back. A woman who can go brian pan to brian pan with me. Not one who thinks Buffalo have wings or the internet was invented in the old timey days. Guys who go after these youngsters are often immature, not too bright and in a way are looking for someone to control…. off my box.
