Bristol Palin, 20, to release memoir this summer

This news doesn’t seem surprising, but it still made me roll my eyes. Bristol Palin, mother, advocate for teen abstinence, highly paid (but controversial) speaker, and former Dancing with The Stars contestant, has penned a memoir at the ripe age of 20. As Radar Online points out, Justin Bieber has a memoir out and Palin has a whole four years on him. Radar forgot to mention what a true piece of crap Justin Bieber’s memoir is and how he has a nation of tweens eating out of the palm of his hand. Bristol has the (assumed) assistance of an arrogant ghost writer who makes pop culture references that only a 35 year-old can appreciate, so maybe her memoir will reflect a level of bitter maturity beyond her years.

Heck — if Justin Bieber can pen his memoir at the age of 16, why can’t Bristol Palin?

Bristol’s still-untitled memoir — all 304 pages of it — will be hitting bookshelves June 21, the book’s publisher William Morrow & Co announced, RadarOnline.com has learned.

From her baby daddy drama with ex Levi Johnston to life as a Palin, the memoir should be an interesting read for fans of the 20-year-old Alaskan abstinence advocate.

Bristol follows in the footsteps of her mother Sarah with her foray into the publishing world, as Sarah’s penned best-selling books such as America by Heart and Going Rogue: An American Life.

[From Radar Online]

There’s goes my assumption that Bristol would keep her head down while she went to broadcasting school at Arizona State. She bought a house there and everything, but she’ll be all over the place this summer when the book comes out. Maybe she assumes she can promote her memoir this summer and then head off to school in the fall. At least she’s going to college. With the bank she’s pulling for capitalizing on her fame she easily could have skipped it.

Who buys this sh*t? I digress…I.don’t wanta know.

  2. texasmom says:

There is so very much I can learn from Bristol. NOT!

There was a great Wonkette page yesterday about possible titles for her memoir. I can’t choose between “Having Sex: The Wildly Profitable Bad Decision” or “Like That Time John McCain Got Captured In Vietnam, But With Some Teenage Hockey Player’s Penis.”

  3. Isabel says:

Sit down, read a book, and raise your f’ing kid.

  4. Nanea says:

I’m pretty sure all the Christian fundamentalist moms who want nothing but abstinence from their teenage daughters will form an orderly queue at whatever place Pistol Bristol will show up for book signings.

Slightly off topic: I’m wondering how many years in how many schools BP will need to get her degree.

  5. saucy says:

    *eyeroll*

  6. Bodhi says:

Head, meet desk… At least she is going to school. But yeah, I too wonder how long it will take her. You KNOW she will take time off for speaking engagements & such. And, of course, in 2012 if her mom runs for president :shudder:

  7. QUEST says:

I really don’t like this fake ass b*tch. How could you write a memoir at age 20???

WTH can you really write about?
Is the book 5 pages long?

    Memoir of Palin:

Chapter 1 -I am from Alaska
Chapter 2- I am Christian with “strong” christian beliefs… holla
Chapter 3 – I screwed around and got caught … oh my
    Chapter 4 – Went on DWTS …oh f*ck
Chapter 5 – moved out my mamas house to screw around some more (hush)
Chapter 6 – Give some moroons a book about my memoirs to read on how a hypocritcal b*t*h can get your money…Suckers!

  8. Iggles says:

I’ve never heard anything more stupid…

  9. OMJ says:

Lemme guess. It’ll go something like:
I had a kid when I was like, super young because I had sex with this cute guy and didn’t use a condom because my mom said sex is bad.
Now, like, I make money telling people sex is bad instead of telling them to like be safe.
    The end.

  10. bondbabe says:

Wow!! We should buy this because she has so much life experience??!! (This applies to Bieber too)–ummm, don’t think so skippy.

Chapter 1 – I Was Born a Privileged White Girl
Chapter 2 – My First Pube
Chapter 3 – Caught With My Pants Down
Chapter 4 – How to Cash in on Your Family’s Fame
    The End

  11. sekb says:

I don’t even care about the memoir; people buy stupid stuff all the time. (Look at the success of the Twilight franchise.)
But what I couldn’t help noticing is that she chose ASU as her college of choice, one that has the dubious distinction of being a great party school that’s light on academics. I’m just sure those Christian “values” are going to serve her well. *Eye roll*

  12. jover says:

For those of you that are getting on your high horse because of her and her mother’s politics, remember Snooki has a “book” out, the Kartrashians have all sorts of crap out, Goopy is insulting real musicians on a continuous basis – to be intellectually honest you better blast those clowns as well. And face it, Bristol and Lady Gaga, for example, are just two aspects of the same gimmicky, media saturated famewhoring pop culture we’re immersed in. From the interviews i’ve read and watched of gaga, bristol, dolt that she and her mother are, are no worse. Some people need to take off their political blinders. Yes, the notion of a book at the venerable age of 20 is absurd.

  13. macey says:

Does she actually believe that ppl will not only buy this book but also believe she actually wrote it herself?

This book is going to be a big flop but then I can see her mom and her nutty fans buying thousands of copies just to get it to hit the best seller list.

  14. melinda says:

Reading the title to this story just caused me to break out in uncontrollable laughter. If I saw a copy of this laying around I dont think I could resist picking it up and reading a few chapters with a glass of wine. Let the unintentional comedy roll!

  15. heatheradair says:

ACTUALLY, I’d rather see this kid cash in a little than those Kardashian bitches continue to roll in piles of cash for shilling for “Krazy Bands” or whatever those glorified wrist rubber bands are called.

Rather than sex tape and a huge amount of fame, she’s left with a son – and she’s actually decided to go to school – rather than move to Beverly Hills, she settled down in a suburb with some distance from her family.

With a ghost writer this should actually be readable – I dunno, we could do worse than her – we can leave her batsh*t crazy mom out of the picture – Bristol’s at least shown the good sense to want some distance from her….

Is she the brightest tool in the shed? Not really, but she could inflict MUCH worse on us.

  16. erika rain says:

A horrible family produces a horrible daughter … go figure. I can’t imagine why anyone would waste their money on this trash. Probably the same people who voted for her mother in ’08.

I’m guessing Bristol’s ghost writer will write her papers for Arizona State as well. I feel sorry for the professors who will be hounded by Mama Palin into passing her precious, roly-poly, baby-makin’, cash machine of a daughter.

  17. Praise St. Angie! says:

“to be intellectually honest you better blast those clowns as well.”

done and done. check the archives.

  18. Boey Jellodonna says:

“Memoirs”…that’s priceless. “My mommy got famous, I got preggers, I had baby, I danced, I wrote this book”. Can’t wait.

  19. Tazina says:

How can someone write a book when they’ve actually never read one?

  20. TaylorB says:

I really do not like it when someone who is that young writes a ‘memoir’, she isn’t even old enough to rent a car at Hertz.
She is wealthy and has a famous name, well so does Chelsea Clinton and the Bush daughters (all three of them are very bright, well educated, and accomplished in their own rights), but they have enough class and integrity to understand that they are, while older than Bristol, too young to write a ‘memoir’.
This is pure nonsense and only being done for money. I am not saying she shouldn’t speak her mind, but a ‘memoir’? at 20? Honestly? That is simply silly.

  21. Feebee says:

So I’m talking to a friend about a Big Brother houseguests who had apparently just graduated from Arizona State. I was voicing my surprise that this woman could actually graduate from a university. I was clued in that Arizona State University is known for taking anybody and everybody. If Bristol Palin is now at ASU, this confirms it. (No offense was meant to any former, current or future ASU attendees and no aspertions have been cast upon your intelligence).

As for her memoirs, it will be as entertaining as her worst dance. I’m gob smacked at the arrogance that her “story” is worth 304 pages.

  22. Annicka says:

“When I was 18 my mom ruined McCain’s chances of being President because she was his running mate. Then I had a baby. Then I was on Dancing With The Stars, even though I’m not a star.” The End.

People under the age of 40 shouldn’t be allowed to write memoirs.

  23. april says:

She’s just trying to cash in while her name is still recognizable. She and her mother are quickly on their way out of popularity.

  24. the original bellaluna says:

Wow. I’m 40, and even with all my life experience (abusive drug-running Blood baby-daddy who nearly killed me; ex who slept with anything willing; 2 years of dating abstinence while “normalising” my children after divorce from said ex) I’ve not written a book. And I could educate some chicks, really I could. But this chick? No.

  25. Anastasia says:

    MONEY MONEY MONEY MONNNNEEEEEY!!!!!

    MONEY!

That family of grifters is all about fleecing as many people as they can.

    The end.

  26. lucy2 says:

No 20 year old can write a true memoir. A book? Fine. Memoir? NO.
Are people really THAT interested in her? And what could she say that she hasn’t already said?
At least she’s going to college. Hope she sticks with it so she can have a career when all this attention inevitably goes away.
TaylorB, you make a great point about the Clinton and Bush daughters.

  27. Whatever says:

Don’t you have to live first and, I don’t know, maybe do something (other than getting knocked up in high school) before you write a memoir? This family is filled with opportunistic famewhores!

  28. Meanchick says:

That chubby chick is NOT a student at ASU! She might wish to be, but you actually have to be, ya know, smart to be a student here! I agree that this whole family is addicted to fame and it doesn’t matter how they attain it. Hope they choke on it.

  29. fancyamazon says:

It’s all “hey, look- I can get as much fame and attention and (maybe) cash as the Kardashians without having an actual sex tape, or paying for anywhere near as much makeup and botox. Ka-Ching!”

  30. ezra says:

My God isn’t her mother insipid enough?!
Must we have to endure the daughter as well?!

  31. original kate says:

“People under the age of 40 shouldn’t be allowed to write memoirs.”

@ annicka: i agree. if they have been a POW, beaten cancer or won a gold medal, i’ll make an exception. but if they have famous parents, have been through rehab or have some lame rags-to-riches story, then no, no they shouldn’t.

  32. Rachael says:

    uh.

  33. e.non says:

hahaha… ya gotta love. from trademarking their friggin names; to a 20yo (allegedly) writing her memoir.

might have to move that bitch ahead of her grizzly mama; she certainly learned her mother’s grifter ways

  34. JustBe says:

The Original Bellaluna: it’s time you got to writing. Your memoir would be aimed at the portion of the book buying audience who can: a) read, b) be employed and can afford to buy books, and c) actually prefer books with legitimate content.

I know that this is a reflection of our famewhore/anger-filled culture gone wild, but I really hate the fact that Bristol (and Bieber) are exploiting their fans by adding to the ridiculous nonsense available for purchase today. The worst notion about this exploitive culture is the thought that there is no amount of money that will be enough. As fame dwindles and memoirs don’t sell, insipid scandals will be blasted in the press, then the inevitable sex tape/alcohol/drug drama comes, all to continue to rake in the money. Without any thought to how young people are sponging it all in.

  35. CIdee says:

So I guess she hasn’t had sex since lil’ Tripp was birthed? Ya’ know, since she’s an “Abstinence Advocate” and all…..

  36. Rio says:

Honestly, were it not just REEKING of “pay attention to MEEEEE!!!”, a memoir from someone who’s lived her life (nobody, suddenly somebody with “dirty laundry” aired in public at such a young age) would be a damn interesting read. The two big books that came out about the 2009 elections (“The Candidate” by Andrew Young and- brain fart, I cannot recall the name or authors but it detailed the behind-the-scenes from every angle) were fascinating.
The problem is just how damn VAPID Bristol Palin appears. Girl is as deep as a petri dish. I have no problem seeing things from the “right” (saying this as a dyed-in-the-wool Southern Democrat…yes, we exist!) but there’s a world of difference between, say, Meghan McCain (whom I read often) and Bristol Palin.

  37. Jared says:

Will these parasites just go away. I wish it was 2007 before we even knew they existed.

  38. heatheradair says:

uh – i may be the lone non-hater here, but a memoir isn’t expected to span an entire life or be some huge opus – a memoir can focus on “an event” or a “period of time” or “an experience.”

So, sure, she can be 20 and write one – she’s had enough exposure and lame baby-daddy/family drama and high-profile stuff to fill up a few pages, definitely. Come on – if Tori Spelling and Paris Hilton and a HUGE list of other unimportant people can write one, so can she – think of it as INVESTMENT IN HER KID’S COLLEGE FUND. Better she write books than sit on welfare…

Am I gonna read it? NO.

    But doesn’t mean it’s not a story worth telling…….

  39. Stephanie says:

    ridonkulous

  40. Susan Cole Highland Texas says:

Who would want to read El Fatso’s biography?

  41. e.non says:

#37.jared: you gotta believe the repig honchos wanna kick st johnnie for even giving her a platform in the first place. if not for him, she’d still be in alaska — and governor. she(and crazy-assed glenn beck) are giving them heartburn. lol.

  42. colt13 says:

I kind of like Bristol, she is an opportunist just like her mom. With that said, the title of her book should be “I Got Lucky.”

The real odd thing about this is she really doesn’t have a target audience. The type of girl who would benefit from finding out how hard it is to be a teen mom probably wouldn’t read this book.

  43. MorticiansDoItDeader says:

Going to school to be a broadcast journalist tells me she has every intention of staying in the public eye.

  44. journey says:

only way this book would be readable is if it were a mommy dearest memoir, telling cold hard truths about her family!

  45. spotchecker says:

    @#19 Tazina

“How can someone write a book when they’ve actually never read one? ”

the same way one talks about abstinence when one has actually never practiced it.

  46. DSMR says:

Is her memoir going to come with a box of Crayolas? If so I call dibs on the color black so I can connect the numbered dots.

  47. OriginalGracie says:

This has nothing to do with the merits of this story, pro or con.

From watching their show (out of curiosity) I have come to the conclusion that all of the Palin children are very attractive. They really did get the very best mix of Mom and Dad.

  48. CeeCee says:

give me a f*cking break. But I guess if Snooki can put a book out and people respond to it anyone can.

  49. Ran across while searching another article. Useful info. Thanks .
