Yesterday, I wrote about the new photos of the Glee cast as they film in New York City. I asked the question: “It’s as if someone is trying to make Lea Michele look like hell, right?” So… these are newer photos from the Glee Manhattan-athon, and I still have to ask: what did Lea Michele do to piss off the wardrobe, hair and makeup departments? It must have been something really bad. Like this face:
In most the shots below, Lea is in the same hideous Rainbow Brite striped coat (and the unfortunate outfit underneath the coat. But in the other shots – where she’s with Cory Monteith, Lea is wearing what I’m assuming is some “romantic” dress. Except that it doesn’t look cool and vintagey, it looks dated and sad (to me). And Cory looks super-engaged with Lea’s drama machine, doesn’t he? He’s so over it. And I love how Lea is always so incredibly aware of the camera.
By the way, the Emmy nominations will be coming out soon (within a few weeks, I think), and Lea is considered a shoo-in for another nomination for Lead Actress in a Comedy. If she’s up against people like Mary-Louise Parker, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, what are Lea’s chances? Read more about it here at the Los Angeles Times.

I don’t know…it’s ugly but her character always dresses in that awkward school girl look that is almost borderline inappropriate for school.
I, personally, think she still looks cute. I love Celebitchy, but sometimes the overwhelming amount of hatred for certain stars boggles my mind. It can get a little disappointing sometimes.

I think she looks good for the most part too. Yeah, she has strong features – so what? Not everyone has to be cookie-cutter pretty.

I doubt if the make up/wardrobe people have it out for her; she could probably refuse to wear it if she hated it. I think she simply has hideous, ghastly taste and thinks she looks wonderful no matter what she wears. Seriously though- the bangs are tragic.
I figured out last night why I had such a strong dislike of that Pia girl that was on American Idol- she reminds me in spades of Lea Michele. Ugh!
I think the biggest reason there are so many haters of LM is because she is so full of herself. If she were a sweet down-to-earth girl, I’m sure she would be well-liked. Just my opinion.
I’m not sure what you’re talking about, Emmy nominations aren’t announced until the middle of July.

I hope Amy Poehler wins for Parks and Recreation. Its a great series, people just have to give it a chance.
She better not win an Emmy! Those outfits are painful. It’s like there is a magnet in her eyes and in the camera. sheesh!

Her wardrobe on that show has been wretched from day one. That’s part of her character.

@Jessipalooza, agreed. I’m not a Glee fan or Lea fan, but I’m always surprised by the amount of vitriol this site seems to have for her. It seems unwarranted and makes me for some weird reason feel the need to defend her (I have a severe case of defend-the-underdog syndrome). She might be snotty but good grief, so are 90% of other Hollywood starlets.
I’ve read here about all of her “transgressions” and they honestly just haven’t sounded all that bad. She’s certainly no Linnocent, out clipping babies after snorting coke cut with Red Bull and the ashes of her incinerated career. She’s not even a Kate Bosworth, having no career outside of getting papped every time she leaves the house. So she’s a snot and says snotty things, so what? Is that really worth all of this vitriol? Color me confused.
Naah…. dude, she’s just a theatre person. That’s how we act. If there’s a camera, she’s gonna get all up in… that’s just what we do! You should see some of my facebook albums. My friends and I are always posing and making silly faces and being melodramatic, but we don’t mean anything by it. We don’t think we’re super hot or the shit or whatever, we just think it’s funny. That second picture is hilarious and looks exactly like a picture of my best friend at our senior show last year. Lot’s of people misunderstand the theatre culture. She’s keyed up and in “performance mode” right now so she’s acting really silly and playing with the cameras. If you go backstage at any show from equity to community, you’re going to find people like her, acting exactly like her. She grew up in the theatre; she’s been acting since she was really young and this is the only thing she knows. Cut her some slack.

She has major bitch face, so that obviously means she’s a jerk. And countless people have said how difficult she was to be around and work with. I totally buy it.
@ Jessipalooza, I totally agree. Don’t mean to use this as a springboard to rant, but felt the same way about this site/Gwyneth. I’m not by any means a fan of hers, but it’s turned into real bullying, which is a shame for a website with the tagline ‘escapism can be smart.’ …reminds me of the 30 Rock episode where Liz talks about the web site ‘for women’ that tears other women down. (umm…perhaps I watch too much tv.)
Looking at her in that coat and beret, I kind of want 60s-era Barbra Streisand to leap out of the bushes and have a throwdown with Miss Michele.
@Jessipalooza: You’re totally right. The hatred for KStew bothers me, too. Kate Bosworth, however, deserves every unkind work aimed at her. At lease Lea is truly talented. If I could sing like that, I’d probably be a little snotty, too.

As MSat said, the get-ups are part of the character’s persona. It was even a thing in one episode where Rachel tries to get Brittany to dress identically to her so she could get a rep as a trend-setter.
But hers and Cory’s are the weakest characters in the show. I understand that she’s “theatre” which leads to the overarticulation of every, damned, word – but I can’t stomach her character.
Heather Morris and her character Brittany’s mad comments outshines them and she totally deserves any awards coming her way.
Now, if the shoes would have been the same shade of grey as the bow…
@ # 18, Emma: I grew upon stage too, although I was a ballet dancer. But everyone around me – singers, dancers, actors – was instructed to ignore cameras from an early age on, and I don’t know anyone on a professional level who reacts to a camera unless it’s for a photo shoot.

I don’t think Lea Michelle is ugly, but I have to admit I’m kind of on the fence about her as a celebrity / person. I still can’t accurately read the difference between assertive and aggressive behaviour in celebrities like her – and let’s face it, I’ll never know, because I’ll never meet her in real life. 🙂 Sometimes I think she’s just strong in her opinions and attitude; other times I think it’s her ambition and arrogance that makes her so unlikeable.

No, I don’t think that I will. Having been a theater kid from age 12 – 22, I don’t think it gives you any special treatment. Besides, from what I hear from some of my friends who have worked on Glee, she’s quite difficult.

She’s just one of those girls who gives off such a sense of their ‘superiority’ that it makes people immediately dislike them. I wouldn’t go so far as to say I ‘hate’ her (that would be ridiculous), but in this case, I find her totally unattractive on the basis of her attitude *alone*.
She just projects her own narcissism, to the point that people can’t even stand her in pictures. Much the same way Leann Rimes, Lindsay Lohan, Kanye, & Megan Fox do.

I can only base my judgment on all the stories people who *have* met her have told. A few that have worked with her on set… But like I said before, even not knowing that… She really does have ‘bitch-face’, all the time… I just can’t *stand* that “I’m so superior to you” expression (reminds me of Lohan smirking in court).
There’s always a chance we could be wrong, that those telling the stories were biased. But I personally don’t think so.

The fan accounts I have seen all say she has been very sweet.
Really going off on a costume is silly, Rachel has nice clothes just doesn’t know how to put them together that is part of the character.
I think she does great job as Rachel and is deserving of the accolades she has received.
Dude, have you ever watched Glee? Lea’s character is known for her hideous style. this is a non story.
