This story is on People so we’ll repeat it, but it’s otherwise a kind of non-story. A People reporter asked Jennifer Aniston’s dad, Days of Our Lives actor John Aniston, if he would like her to end up with a nice Greek guy. (He was born in Greece and moved to the US when he was two. Plus he was at a Greek event so the question was timely.) Aniston’s dad said yes of course, but it would have to be a good guy and an honest one. You know that people are going to spin this into some condemnation against Aniston’s cheating ex, but I think it’s just a dad saying something nice about his hopes for his daughter. It’s not like he was like “yes, and where are my grandbabies already?”

Greek men are sexier and make better boyfriends, the elder Aniston, 77, who was born Yannis Anastassakis in Crete, joked to PEOPLE Saturday at the Hellenic Times Scholarship Fund’s 20th Anniversary Gala in New York.
Asked if he’d be happy if Jennifer, 42, ended up with a Greek man, he replied, “Yes, I would be glad about that.” But he’d have to be a “good Greek man,” Aniston added.
And what does that entail? “Honesty,” he replied.
Aniston, who has played Victor Kiriakis on NBC’s Days of Our Lives since 1985, was honored at Saturday’s gala along with Gilles Marini, star of the ABC drama Brothers & Sisters.

Ok I have a confession to make. (One I’ve made before, but hopefully most of you forgot.) I sometimes watch Days. I started a few months ago when I was flipping, saw a hot guy or two, and stuck around. Now I tape it and fast forward through most of it, but I like to keep up with what’s going on. I had no idea that guy was Aniston’s father! I remembered her dad was in soaps but didn’t realize that was him. His scenes are the ones I fast forward through. He’s got a really awesome deep voice though, I’ll say that for him. No comment about Aniston’s lovelife. I really don’t need to say much on threads like this.

I’ve watched Days on and off since the 6 th grade I love him as Victor his romance with Susan Rodgers is sooooo cute… but I am currently in an off phase. He’s right about the Greek thing I vote John Stamos.

I am liking that possible pairing with Stamos. On another note as much as and probably because I usually think she looks like a man and was almost convinced at one point that she was and just holding my breath for the news to break, I MUST say she looks absolutely GORGEOUS in that first pic and lovely in the second! Come to think of it I think she’s actually gotten more attractive to me with time/age.

I say she should go for that Stavros guy (the one who used to date Paris Hilton and one of the Olsen twins). He could be her boytoy and is much more her speed than John Stamos is.

Is it 1954? Is it wrong to be single? Are singletons the degenerates of society? Please. I’m no fan of her movies and I don’t always think she’s good at the whole PR game. But her being “unable to keep a man” is such a prejudiced statement. As if those same people who say this sort of thing about Aniston would say the same outdated stuff to their own sister or mother or friend who happens to be a single woman. Perhaps, just maybe, they want it that way? It’s their choice.

Whenever I see starlets wearing those really thin soled sandal things, I always think about how disgustingly dirty their feet must be at the end of the night. I mean, jeez, just look at the street where she’s standing. Yuck. yeah- nothing at all to say about her or a man.

Sure she does. When I first met her, we talked about being Greek (I’m Greek and Italian). And of course she claims to be either a Calif Girl or a New Yorker… she grew up in both those places. I’m proud to be Greek and Italian, but I’m more of a New York girl (even though I also lived in L.A. throughout my teens).
What is wrong with Jennifer Aniston?
Well, despite being a boring, shallow, party girl with the emotional maturity of a 16 year old, u can also also add in clingy and extremely insecure. At least that is what the media used to mention a lot, long before she dated Brad Pitt. Can u imagine what she is like now?
As for those who mention it isn’t a negative to be single, I would agree. However, Jennifer seems to have no idea how to function without jumping from guy to guy. Strong and single is admirable, but it is obviously not something Jennifer aspires to.
Have u ever heard her mention she wants to expand her interests, travel the world, read the classics, learn a new skill, take a class, focus on making the world a better place thru volunteer work? No, never, because all she talks about is partying in Mexico, her love of entertaining, working out, hanging out, and her dog. She was recently interviewed on Ellen and she mentioned she loves to watch Jersey Shore. I think that says everything.

@Isa. I LOVE conspiracy theories, and I find it strange that Aniston gets two stories from the same source, People magazine, on the SAME day. One about dating, and her rep releasing the news that her dog died–WEEKS–ago. Yet, today was perfect to release this information? Hmm . .
I think the PR people were probably acrambling–Brangelina is out, what do we have on Aniston? What? Her dog just died. Let’s go with that!– This stuff never seems to die. Last year, when Salt came out, Aniston had her perfume launch in London on the same week, and when The Tourist came out, Chelsea Handler called her a f’in c-word and said Brad should run back to Jen. And, Chelsea has the same rep as Aniston.
It’s strange. Are these PR agents really this devious? If so, they deserve their own reality show! I think the PR agents are more interesting than their clients. They basically create the drama. 😉

Zack Galifiniakis is way way way too effing smart for Aniston. And I’m sure she thinks he’s too fat and ugly for her anyway. The greek net must be cast much farther out. And Stamos? As a girl with a Greek daddy myself, trust me: this story is 100% true — all Greek dads want their daughters to marry a “nice Greek guy.” (Nice means honest, smart, educated & rich).

She said she DID NOT because she grew up with her mom (who is not Greek & who does not speak Greek) after the divorce. It is ok that you like her because she is Greek, but there is no need to pretend she speaks Greek — she doesn’t.

Say, that’s a novel idea. Find an European fella. Greek men are pretty good and while a bit old-fashioned in some areas can be fabulous husbands and fathers. Something about the culture and standards makes them better than “regular” fellas. I don’t know how to explain, but yeah, Jennifer should ring up someone like John Stamos. 😛
I think John A. was probably mostly joking about him being Greek, but some people really do prefer for their kids to stay in the same ethnic background. Which is really stupid – having a particular background doesn’t automatically mean someone will be a better match for a woman or man of the same background.
