Do you remember seeing Sarah Michelle Gellar at the Golden Globes? These are some photos of her solo red carpet appearance, in case you forgot. I didn’t care for her Monique Lhuillier dress, but Sarah Michelle told a cute story about how her daughter styled her for the evening, so you can’t hate on it too much. Anyway, I bring this up because A) SMG didn’t do the globes with her husband, Freddie Prinze Jr. and B) She actually said a few bitchy-funny things about Freddie while she was being interviewed on E!. “But, my husband has an opinion, that doesn’t mean I listen to it.” And the crack about Freddie being Mr. Golden Globe “back when it was still in black and white.” Was she just being droll and bitchy-funny, or was she signaling to the world that she and Freddie – who have been together for 12 YEARS – are having problems?
Could Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. be the next in a long line of celebrity couples heading for divorce?
Although their rep denies the story, the duo, who have managed to remain largely out of the spotlight throughout their relationship, raised eyebrows recently when Sarah, 34, walked the Golden Globes red carpet solo – and without her enormous diamond engagement ring.
When asked, SMG told reporters that 35-year-old husband of almost 10 years was “watching football.”

Considering I couldn’t find any other major tabloid or legit media outlet that was even speculating about this, and considering that Sarah Michelle’s rep seemed to shut it down before it ever went to print, it’s probably nothing. Maybe she didn’t feel like wearing her ring to the Globes. Maybe her sense of humor is just dry and sarcastic. Maybe she and Freddie are just fine. Or maybe there’s something there? More anecdotal evidence: Sarah Michelle and Freddie haven’t been photographed together – candidly or on a red carpet – in YEARS.

I like them together, so I definitely hope (and believe) this isn’t true. I know several couples (my husband and myself included) that make fun of each other as a way to show affection. I tell Mr. Baker alllllll the time how happy I am that he’s my first husband (you can imagine how much he loves that) and he responds in kind by telling me he only married me bc my parents have money, haha 🙂
I hope not. I think that is her sense of humor and they seem to like their privacy so I wouldn’t write them off yet.

And to be fair, most of the pictures of them together are walking around the mall and getting coffee. They don’t hang around red carpets often. And 12 years, that is a lifetime in Hollywood years, heck, even in our regular-folks-world years. So hope they make it longer. I just love her pictures with her daughter!

Actually, he’s producing for the WWE and his net worth is more than hers. I don’t think he has too much to be embarrassed about. Together they’re worth over 30 million.
Thanks for the info on Freddie. I always wish him well. I remember reading a biography about his deceased father that was so sad. Hope Freddie continues to enjoy a successful, drama-free life!

Everytime there’s several breakups or marriages at the same time the tabloids say everybody is breaking up or getting married just to see what sticks.

Freddie has a job as one of the lead writers for the WWE. I’m not sure if he’s a “home” writer (stays in Connecticut) or an “away” writer (goes on the road with them) but it’s not like he’s not doing anything. Good chance he was busy with his job.

They’ve always been VERY low key, I wouldn’t read too much into any of this.
I think the tabloids are saying any celebrities couple Is on the rocks in hope that one of the stories are true so they can be the first to report it. They mist some of the big it’s brack ups JLO and Mark,Heidi and Seal, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria shriver and the list goes on and on because they were to busy reporting the same made up stories.
SMG doesn’t strike me as the kind of woman who would nag her husband to go with her, if he’d rather watch football instead. She seems pretty secure to me.
She should teach a class to aspiring actresses on red carpet small talk. She’s too cute!

Dress is horrible. Almost she wanted to take a risk and then blame the failed experiment on her daughter. I wouldn’t take my toddler’s advice on how to dress for an awards show. That is liking taking a four year old’s advice on what to wear to work.
Football sounds like a reasonable excuse. Freddie has been an actor in Hollywood long enough to find football more interesting.
I loved her dress, it was one of my favorites of the night. Though, after considering it more, I have to agree with Kelly from Fashion Police and think it is better as an editorial dress. She would look awesome on the cover of some glossy. I am picturing her walking in a marsh or something else, but I love marshes so that is sticking in my mind. And I loved her simple slicked back ponytail.
In touch weekly reports she wasn’t wearing her engagement ring, and it is true, but doesn’t say she was wearing her wedding ring. I am a huge Sarah’s fan and I know she doesn’t always wear them both. That was not the first time she left the engagement ring at home wearing just the wedding ring.
So the ring story doesn’t make any sense. What it is weird it that they haven’t been doing a red carpet since July 2007 and that the paparazzi take pictures of them together just once or twice a year when we are lucky…

This isn’t real guys, don’t believe it. Plus, I’ve heard on one of her interviews on Radio that had been done the last week saying that Freddie stayed at home babysitting their daughter and watching football, so he couldn’t go with her because of their daughter. Plus, Sarah was at home with her daughter when Freddie was shooting 24. They are solid, and that is totally her sense of humor…smart, funny, dry, sarcastic (and I know because I’ve hung out with her) They absolutely adore each other, and are the most solid of the Hollywood couples out there. She’s a sound, stable woman and so is he, and they absolutely adore their little girl, and want another baby too.
She had a good upbringing with the right kind of support around her (her mom specifically) and although she started acting so young, she was never really into the Hollywood scene, even at her public high during Buffy. She’s a class act, and so is he.

I would guess that the reason they don’t get photographed around together is because they have a strong relationship and nothing to prove, so they don’t call the paps every time they go for coffee. I totally get her comment about “date night” and how this wouldn’t really be any fun. I’d save getting a babysitter for something enjoyable too!

I really wouldn’t read too much into this one. These two have always done there own thing, and not mingled with the social climbers in hollywood like the cuntdashians, or the Glee girl with the big nose who is f’ng guys left and right because she lost a few pounds and got her hair done.

I think they are the younger version of Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick. Sweet and loving and not in your face because they have nothing to prove. I kinda wish that he was doing talk shows and such because he seems like he would be such a natural on something like the “Today” show.

When I worked at the Barnes and Noble in Tribeca three years ago, they would come in together almost every Sunday. They sat in the cafe, drank coffee, and read magazines, like a totally normal couple, and everyone left them alone. I think they just don’t like parading their relationship around, which is fine with me.
I always found them cute. They met on one of my favorite movies (when I was a teen) and I couldn’t help but like them (although I always wanted to see her with RP).
That said isn’t Gellar known for being kind of a bitch? I recall that and it didn’t amaze me that there was a lull in her career for a while, espeically when she bit the hand that fed with Buffy (kinf of like Heigel and Grey’s and those high aspirations that don’t pan out). I don’t hate her or even dislike her but I always think of her as kind of bitchy so her saying something like that on tv doesn’t surprise me.
Plus I always got the impression she was pissed that Freddie didn’t “live up to his potential”. I mean it must piss her off that her husband went from teen hearthrob to writing for the WWE. Talk about a downgrade. And they went from being a B-list golden couple to just some tv/movie people from the late 90’s (though I know she still has the Buffy stans, is that really enough? obviously not).
Sarah Michelle was known for being a bit bitchy by some. But a lot of people forget that when she got Buffy, she was seventeen turning eighteen, had been coming off a great run on All My Children, and had been a pro since she was a kid. She was very mature for her age but she was still a kid and she was also pretty lonely. I think she found a great group of friends on Buffy because I know she dealt with a lot of hateration at her school and that made her less bitchy to some. There was also talk about her being “fat” in season 1. She had a lot going on.
But honestly, SMG had a right to complain about Buffy because after season 5, after the heart break of us having to see that freak show of Angel and Cordy on Angel, Riley, and Spuffy which we all secretly wanted but not with him raping/trying to rape Buffy, Joss totally f’ed that show up. I still try to block most of season six and seven(except for Once More With Feeling) out of my head.
Buffy did not deserve the ending it got and if that’s what made SMG even bitchier, I can’t even complain. I’d be the same way.
Katherine Heigl just wishes she was as talented as SMG.
I think they kinda admitted to having problems early on in their marriage and went to counseling. But then both their careers declined and you didn’t hear much about them, except for recently when she had a kid and her new show started. Who knows if they’ll last forever but I know at one point they (or least he was a Republican), and I think they both grew up with single parents and it was tough..so I think even if there are problems they’d want to stick it out for the kid.
I hope not, on they outside they seem to have a pretty solid marriage, I hope not for them. What ever happen to trying to work through things?
