Here’s a photo of a heavily pregnant Peaches Geldof in late March in a London park with her dog, Parpy. This image appeals to me very much and almost endears one to Peaches herself. It’s probably just the effect of the dog though because I’m crazy about puppies. Anyway, it’s been about a month since Peaches gave birth to her son, Astala Dylan Willow Geldof-Cohen, and we’ve already discussed how Bob Geldof has hilariously declared that he hates his grandson’s name (because it’s not masculine enough) and has begged Peaches to change it. Now Bob is still yammering on about this perceived (LOL) injustice, and he’s taken to an ITV interview to declare that he can’t even bear to pronounce the name Astala. He even joked that naming the child “Leonard Cohen” would be preferable. Bob needs to STFU on that issue because he’ll never win.

Anyway, Peaches seems to be wisely ignoring her dad’s grumblings, and ever since she gave birth to Astala, she’s been virtually glowing through her Twitter page and has posted some amazingly adorable photos of Astala. This is one adorable little grin:

In addition to posting these really cute baby photos of Astala, Peaches has also given an exclusive interview to Hello! magazine. We don’t have access to the interior photos, but The Mail has one of them, and I’ve posted the cover shot below as well. Here are some excerpts from Peaches’ Hello! interview, in which she asserts that Bob adores his new grandson even though he still can’t stomach the poor kid’s name.

Peaches on Bob meeting his grandson: “He was incredibly gentle with Astala; he took him aside and was so quiet, which isn’t something my dad’s renowned for. He’s besotted with Astala because he’s his first grandchild but especially, I think, because he’s the first boy in the family.”

On Astala’s initial breathing difficulties: “It was the most terrifying experience, to have our tiny baby whisked away like that. I was yearning for that skin-to-skin contact I’d waited so long for and to not be able to hold him and nurse him and comfort him was so upsetting. He had a lack of something called surfactant, which made it a struggle for him to breathe. He was in intensive care for a few days. To be able to finally hold him and take in all his little features was wonderful.”

Maybe crotchety old Bob will eventually come to accept his grandson’s name and realize that it’s a whole heap better than anything he could’ve come up with himself. Or maybe he’ll just call the kid by one of his middle names — Dylan — which isn’t so bad of a name at all. Although I have to admit that Bob’s “Leonard Cohen” joke is rather amusing in its own way.
