Here are some photos of Pippa Middleton promoting her book, Celebrate, in London yesterday. Guess who designed this awful dress? You’ll NEVER guess. Yes, it’s Stella McCartney. Of course. Because it looks so damn cheap and like whoever designed it has no concept of what flatters a woman’s figure. It’s particularly awful on Pippa’s figure. Personally, I like Pippa’s figure so much more than her sister’s. I think Pippa looks more athletic and less like she’s in the midst of some kind of crash diet. But both Kate and Pippa have very “boyish” frames with extremely slender hips. This is exactly the wrong kind of dress when you don’t have hips – it emphasizes the wrong part of Pippa’s body, and it makes her look thick-waisted. Plus, it looks like she threw on a black dickey on top of a fug dress. Now, I do think her hair & makeup look good – from the neck up, this is the best she’s ever looked, quite honestly.
Anyway, we were sent a preview of this week’s Parade Mag, and it’s basically some selected excerpts from Pippa’s book. I’ll get to the text in a moment, but first you need to take a look at this photo:
OMG. WHY?! Why did you tie strings around donuts and hang them up in a tree?!? Did the donuts do something bad? Were they accused of a crime?
As it turns out, Pippa’s book is full of really dumb ideas. Well… not so much dumb as “obvious.” Parade’s excerpt features Pippa’s Halloween suggestions, which include making pumpkin soup and serving it in a “cauldron”. You could also “string cobwebs on tables; and haunt gardens, attics, and stairways with ghosts made from sheets.” Well, I would have never thought of that!!!! And don’t forget: “Just a simply carved pumpkin lit up among glimmering candles will go a long way to producing the right atmosphere.” OMG BEST ADVICE EVER!! Which is basically the point of the Daily Mail’s hilariously bitchy review of the book, which is brilliantly summed up like this: “Certainly, a few might think that some of what the ambitious younger sister of the Duchess of Cambridge actually writes here must be aimed at some sort of halfwit hostess who has never thrown a party before, can’t bake a potato without laddering her tights and has lost the recipe for making ice.” Poor Pippa. Such a disappointment.

I think she looks great. That skirt doesn’t need a frill, could have just been pencil. Her hair didn’t need to be quite so… high? But, wow, does she ever benefit from a little foundation, haha.
I agree, not a fan of the frill but everything else is good i suppose. I think the hair goes well with the outfit.
edit: I saw some footage of the launch on BBC news. Pippa was talking to this little girl and says something like ‘i bet you love princesses’. The girl replies with
“I hate princesses’.
Goooooo Little Girl!! I would have loved to see Pippa’s face after she heard that
Yes, she looks great. Playful, funny, stylish look. So much better than her normal style.
the dress is terrible. on the plus side, her hair and make-up look better than usual. i guess she’s trying to carve out a niche for herself? she should hang out with gooop.
I agree, the dress is horrible and her hair – oh my god, who chooses to put her hair like this!? And it’s her most important evening of the year!
I really like her shoes.
Oh, come on. Give the girl a break. At least she works for a living. Sort of. I think she looks adorable, by the way. Sure, this dress isn’t great. But it’s decent and occasion-appropriate and I like her hair and make-up.
+1

Ditto… she looks really well here. Not so tanned… which is good! Her skin in general looks great. Not digging the dress but she’s worn way worse. Stella is overrated…but P probably wants to promote British designers so there’s that.
Methinks the biggest “fox-paw” these sisters committ is being overly-tanned. It’s one thing to have a fresh-sunkissed “glow”. But after a day or so it begins to look grey and unhealthy. And the years of damage are not worth it. It makes them look “hard” and cheap. They may not have the “peaches + cream” complexion — but they don’t need to look like swarthy pirates either.
I know. At least she wrote the book herself.
This is the prettiest I’ve ever seen her, face wise, before
This is how make up should be done.
Wow! Her face looks so different! Might I say she looks really pretty?
She needs to give her makeup artist a huge raise because he makes her look amazing here. Her skin glows! We all know how she looks like in real life, so this is a huge improvement.
Her makeup and hair are really flattering. The dress not so much.
And I’ll say it – I like Pippa! I like her obvious ambition and that she is taking the opportunities that come her way. So what if she’s famous because her sister married someone? Good for her for working her new connections to make the best life possible for herself. Even if it does involve providing people with a recipe for ice.
Though true story, I have a friend who didn’t realize you needed to refridgerate hard boiled eggs. Just because its basic advice, doesn’t mean there are people who haven’t heard it yet.
I like her too. I think it was pretty gutsy of her to address the fact that she is mostly famous because of her sister and her butt. And of course it’s totally unfair that she gets paid more than I make in ten years to write a book that contains no new information whatsoever. But what was she to do, refuse? Why? Go for it, Pip.
In fact, yes, she could have refused. It’s called having integrity. I don’t see any of the other royal in-laws cashing in, do you?
Exactly. She could have refused, just like she could have refused those front-row tickets at Wimbledon, and assorted other perks she gets simply by being the sister of someone who’s married to someone whose parents are famous.
And yes, most of us would find it hard to turn down 400K for doing basically nothing (nobody seriously thinks Pippa actually wrote the book, do they?). But I hardly think she deserves praise for ‘having her own career’. What she is doing – and has basically admitted – is shamelessly cashing in on her sister’s fame. Tacky.
Oh, boo-hoo. So she’s hustling together some cash for herself over her sister’s royal back. Big deal. I, for one, do think she wrote this book herself. ‘Party planning’ (and attenting, presumably) is her job. Lots of people will buy this book out of curiosity, even though it obviously isn’t a masterpiece. I don’t think it’s all that terrible that she gets to cash in on that, too.
You seriously think her ‘job’ as a ‘party planner’ (whatever that is) involved her personally boiling up vats of pumpkin soup and playing Halloween games with kids?
The Tindalls and the Rhys-Jones are just some of the royal family’s in-laws who’d stand to gain a lot more from cashing in. They’re not that rich compared to the Middletons, yet they’ve always kept their heads low and never tried to attract media attention.
Let’s be honest here: Pippa’s not poor, she lives comfortably well, she doesn’t need the extra money. She didn’t need to cash in but it seems like taking advantage of royal connections is a favorite pastime of this family.
I do remember how she had to insist to let everybody know that she didn’t hire a ghost writer. It was like she was almost proud of writing such a basic book. She’s no Nigella Lawson, that’s for sure.
@GoodCapon: So is it more admirable for someone connected to the throne to just hang out? Does it show more integrity if she spends her life shopping and going on vacations?
Oh, right, there’s always volunteer work or some work out of the public eye. But what if that’s not where your interests lie? I’m not trying to say let’s all pity Pippa (certainly not, she has a huuuge advantage), but do the royal connections really need to be handled with such delicacy?
For me: yes. Pippa did have a ‘job’ before becoming famous, she could have gone on her merry way — shopping or going on vacations, like you said — after the wedding. That’s what all the other in-laws did, anyway. I think the problem is that all the media attention has gone to her head.
But IMO, the biggest problem here is that Kate is still very much attached to the Middleton name. Whatever the Middletons do — whether it’s good publicity or not — will reflect back on her. So IMO the wisest course of action would have been to say no to all the freebies, the offerings… they should have just ignored it all and kept their heads low as much as possible.
This reminds me of the early Downton Abbey episode when the Dowager Countess is appalled that Matthew has a job. LOL! I’m just hopelessly middle class because, to me, almost any kind of work is more admirable than a life of loafing.
I agree, her face and hair look as good as when Kate got married and she got all that praise. She must’ve used the same people. At least she listens.
Does anyone remember uproar when Delia Smith started her ‘How to Cook’ series with a recipe on boiling eggs? As basic as that is/was, still come across people who can’t do it and don’t know how.
@Goodcapon – don’t forget Autumn Philips family as well as the families of B&E’s boyfriends. The middletons started cashing in, albight more discreetly, the minute Kate was identified as the official GF.
Sadly, (and I’m glad for the anonymity of the internet, lol!) when I was in high school, I once tried to make mac-n-cheese. I added the noodles AND the cheese mix to the boiling water. When the noodles were cooked, I drained all the water out…
And I also learned you can’t make hot cocoa the same way you make coffee in the automatic coffee maker…
This is hilarious.
The Kardashians get vilified for being famous for no reason and for making a lot of money just for being famous. Paris Hilton still gets mocked for her stupidity and desperation to stay in the limelight. Other socialites and rockers’ daughters get called names for being in the media without doing anything ‘worthy’ to deserve such attention…
Yet here is Pippa on the same level as the Kardashians when it comes to milking her 15 minutes, but she is praised for making her connections work and grabbing the opportunities that come her way.
Funny, that. This royalty concept does blind some people into thinking that everything about royals, and by extension their families especially the in-laws, must be special and deserving of accolade.
If this were Kourtney Kardashian riding on Kim’s coattails, we’d never hear the endless rants of “Why don’t they just fall into a pit?” “Stupid whores” and other harsh criticisms.
But because Pippa is now connected to royalty, then suddenly she’s called positive things likes “gutsy”, “at least she has a job”, “she has hustle”, “she has ambition”. We can say the exact same things about the Kardashians!
If Kate didn’t marry into royalty, will we be praising Pippa at all? Or are we going to lump her together with the other celebrity fame whores? They’re all just doing the same thing, yet for some reason Pippa is praised while the the likes of the Kardashians get bloody murder thrown in their faces.
I’m not defending the Kardashians at all, but I find the hypocrisy funny. They’re all fame whores, but Pippa has a sister who is an HRH, therefore she’s welcome to be as attention-seeking as she can be. But the Kardashians are not, so while Kim works just as hard as Pippa does in hustling to get the gigs and thus the money, she’ll never be seen as hardworking and gutsy because she went the wrong way to do it through a sex tape. But on the whole, she and Pippa are the same. Both spoiled, trust fund babies who had a ‘small’ job before hitting it big. Kim is making big money for being who she is, and so is Pippa. But one is met with praise while the other inspires disgust.
One of them is a literal & figurative “whore”. The other’s just a famewhore whos sister married a title
Agree completely, Sachi.
This is famewh*ery, pure and simple. Just because her sister married a ‘royal’ doesn’t make it any less so.
And for those who praise her for not becoming a Paris Hilton, it’s worth saying that a) Paris Hilton ‘worked’ at making herself into a ‘brand’ and b) the Middletons, while wealthy by normal standards, are nowhere near as rich as the likes of the Hiltons. In other words, Pippa would not be able to live a life of jet-set luxury on their money alone. So she’s cashing in on her sister’s fame: whether that means front-row seats at Wimbledon or her own lucrative book deal. I see nothing remotely praiseworthy here.
I second your comment Carobell, although I like the dress. It is probably getting chilly in the UK and a tweedy fabric makes sense. I also can’t imagine anyone faulting her for accepting the offer to write a book on party planning especially since that is the family business. And she probably did write a lot of it. She doesn’t strike me as either lazy or stupid. Also, she has a great body because she’s athletic. Anyone remember that ski marathon? I am really tired of the Kardashian body that people think looks so great, where the waist ski slopes to a massive upper thigh.
I kind of feel sorry for her. The pressure to marry well must be enormous. That said, she gets an allowance from her folks/the family business for a bit of work , plenty of perqs and a lot of fun. I’d kill for that lifestyle (minus the marriage pressure part) LOL.
That dress is appalling. I’ve done the donut thing though, you have to eat them without licking your lips or touching them.
She looks better than usual, but nothing special. Like her sister, she has no fashion sense. Also, she looks really awkward. As if she secretly knows how ridiculous the whole thing is.
But maybe I’m attributing too much integrity to a Middleton.
Well, if I ever decide that I want to wear a dress that inexplicably makes heretofore perky breasts look a little long, low, and skin taggy, Stella’s my girl.
Also, can we have a moment is silence for the poor doughnuts? They know not what they’ve done.
That’s what they get for being so delicious, and yet so bad for me. No sympathy!
Yes – great hair and makeup. She looks as good as she did at the big old wedding, her other high point. And the dress isn’t so bad. It isn’t totally flattering but its not hideous, either. Not like some of Stella’s crazy costumes.
I have a soft spot for Pippa. At least she has some life and hustle to her. I think she’s probably more like her mother than she is like Kate.
Also, she does have a great figure. Kate used to look much like that, as I recall.
Seems like the British newspapers and tabloids had a LOT of fun mocking her book.
I think people are more forgiving towards nepotism if the person in question has a decent amount of talent. Judging by the reviews and excerpts, Pippa doesn’t seem to have it in abundance. Plus, she did cash in on her royal connections so she’s going to get plenty of snark than usual.
Here’s Pippa trying to eat her own creation:
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c186/Meaghanism/pip.gif
It’s getting almost universally … eh, I won’t say ‘negative’ but how about ‘patronising’ reviews.
I happened to flick through one of the display copies in Waterstones the other day – it’s so *bland*.
Props to her for not jetting around partying 24/7 a la Peaches/Paris/etc.
But it’s truly quite a crap book. Some basic tips in there which I suppose are quite useful, but … well, she’s no Martha Stewart.
I will say one thing about the doughnuts – we used to do that as kids at people’s birthday parties, and when you’re 6 years old and fairly tall for your age, it’s quite fun 🙂
I read some comments where the book was said to contain really lovely pictures (just paraphrasing here) but no original/creative ideas to show for it. High on style, low on substance in other words… a bit like her sister 😀
I do think there could be market for a very basic entertaining book. My MIL could use it, as her idea of having people come over to her house is to stand around nervously until one of two things happen. 1. Someone other than her starts cooking something, or 2. Take-out is ordered and paid for by someone else. Some people really don’t have a clue. Just found her x-mas present !
She’s really milking her 15 minutes. Why is she writing a “book” anyway? Seems pointless…
I think it’s quite telling that even the Daily Mail – notoriously obsequious to anything remotely ‘royal’ – has thoroughly panned this book. And if you look at readers’ comments, they’re all doing the same thing. If even the Daily Fail’s readers are mocking this attempt at a ‘book’, then I doubt that the publishers will recoup their 400K advance. I sincerely hope not, anyway.
Pippa does not look British at all. She looks like someone from L.A. She has that Marcia Brady thing going on.
Anyway, she looks better now, like she’s well rested. Why is ‘totally terrible’ an option?
Her makeup is amazing!!
She actually looks cute when she’s not channeling her inner Ompa Loompa…poor little rich girl!
Ugh I can’t sand Stella McCartney. I’ll never understand why women pay so much for such terrible designs.
I don’t know I kind of like the dress. Her make up is nice, but I don’t care for her hair.
I kind of like the dress, too….
Oh wait…I just saw the back of the dress. Yeah, it’s pretty awful.
Hair and makeup are v. flattering and the dress is the usual WTF-ery from Stella McCartney.
I don’t mind Pippa. Not so many decades ago, at 29, she’d be considered already ‘stale’ on the shelf and they’d be hurrying to sell her into wedlock to some boring aristocrat who would cheat on her with the poolboy. But not in 2012. Silly, nepotistic books and all.
+1 for that Downton Abbey reference upthread. I was watching that episode on Netflix last night and most of the things that people say about the Middletons do indeed remind me of that. The entire cast is appalled that Matthew is a lawyer, (horror), he plans to keep working instead of doing nothing, (more horror), and his late father was a doctor, (utterly disgusting). The great Maggie Smith, (who I was lucky enough to see onstage years ago), says it all with one slightly raised eyebrow.
“What is a weekend?”
😉
What you have to underestand about us Brits is that we hate a try hard. or rather someone who is obvious about their try hard. go be a success but don’t appear to try hard at it. That kind of where the self deprecating thing comes from. The Middletons are not just try hards, but they are visibly obvious try hards….
That is interesting Lak.
In the USA it is the opposite. We love it when someone comes from ‘nothing’ and through their own hardwork are a great success.
Hair and makeup better, dress bad.
Is it just my monitor, who did the lighting on the Parade cover make her hair look grayish purple?
The Stella dress is too dis-jointed for a two-tone. In my opinion, a two-tone should slide into the dress with style. This one looks like it was started at the top with one dress in mind and then they lost the lower part, so grabbed another unfinished dress and stitched the two together.
Her face looks amazing! Her hair is differentt, A for effort. The dress is meh. And as far as I’m concerned, ALL of those kinds of books are equally obvious. She just went on Pinterest and picked some ideas, and put them in a book. Don’t blame her; blame the publisher.
I’ve done the doughnut thing before. I put it in the same category as bobbing for apples, it’s a fun silly game at a children’s party.
The back of this stella dress is even worse. According to the daily mail, Pippa had 4 events yesterday and had 4 dresses. The purple one at the party in Fulham was stunning, and I really like color block one. The green illusion dress and the stella? Awful.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2223007/Pippa-Middleton-changes-FOUR-different-dresses-just-ONE-venue-promote-party-guide.html
Thanks for that link! I actually like the other dresses a lot better than the Stella one. You can really tell what an amazing figure she has in the other outfits, especially the plum dress.
You weren’t kidding– the back’s even worse!
If Stella McCartney was on Project Runway, the judges would send her home immediately, bring her back in an unexpected plot twist, then say, “No, she just keeps making those stupid-looking dresses that don’t fit,” and she’d be auf’ed for good.
Lol the back is even worse. Haha. I cannot believe that passes for fashion. The purple one is fab! That’s how she should dress all the time and her hair looks great in those pics too.
Something about her here screams Marsha Brady, Marsha Brady (without the blonde hair).. lol
I misread the title of the book she’s holding in the top photo; I read it as “Celibate”, whoops. That said, I really do NOT like the dress, it should be taken in at the waist, among other things. I do like her makeup, though.
I can’t even believe she passed up the opportunity to hock this on Anderson, Rachel Ray, Oprah…what a dumbass!
I think she looks really good
I can’t get over how well presented she looks compared to kate. Kudos for hiring a proper glam squad for hair and make up. And her hair is properly secured…she needs to tell Kate.
This is the worst of the 4 dresses she wore for the different launch events but I still think she looks as good as she did at the wedding.
Oh and the video….her voice is Ok, she’s at ease with kids, generally liked her presentation.
Donuts on a string was fun when I was a kid.
As much as I grumble about royal in laws cashing in, I have to say at least she isn’t selling tacky royal related stuff or giving interviews that mention kate etc she’s written (ghosted) a book on a subject that she is known for careeer wise and someone was dumb enough to offer her a huge advance for it.
Heaven help me…I love the dress. I think it’s adorable, and it would only work on someone long and lean. Yes, it would look better if there was a more defined waist but still…for Stella, this isn’t terrible.
I’m going to go hang out in the corner now.
I like the dress but not on her.
Sadly not on me either…
No lynching references in celebrity gossip. Ever. I’ve never been ashamed of Celebitchy until today. Abhorrent. You should apologize.
I don’t understand the dress. It’s terrible. Her hair is a little pagenty for my taste. Her make up looks the best it has since the wedding. She isn’t so orange and old looking. Who do they think is going to buy her book? I don’t know why she gets a pass, her sister marries a prince and she cashes in. How exactly is that doing her own thing? Whatever.
Pippa did her eyebrows and got some Botox! Thank god. The sun damage was getting out of control and aging her fast. And the hideous caterpillars above her eyes were so tragic.
As a born and raised New York girl, I have to say, I love seeing how Pippa and Kate dress themselves. They are stylish, upper-middle-class young women, but their aesthetic is so entirely different from what you see in the U.S. Partially, I think the London fashion is “edgier” thus the harsh eyeliner, and dedication to booties.
In my mind, I would’ve expected a much Preppier/Classic vibe, considering both girls went to boarding school and then posh colleges. However, I’m intrigued by their style choices and I appreciate the coverage.
This particular look would be hugely improved with sleeves.
Also – Pippa got Botoxed. I’m sorry to say it, but her forehead has never looked better.
Firstly, thank you for the fashion shout out. London is edgier fashionwise BUT that eyeliner and booties are not a London thing. They are a middleton thing. We are just as horrified/puzzled by it as everyone else.
2ndly, the way these girls dress is the way London wasps (we call them sloanes) dress. If you walked down the Kings road, you would hit many, many sloanes dressed like Kate/Pippa minus booties and sharpie eyeliner.
It’s a huge puzzle why people would call them, or at least Kate, style icons when every sloane in britain dresses the same. The fact that Kate now wears McQueen is the fashion equivalent of someone putting a nuclear bomb in sloane country. But of course she doesn’t really wear McQueen, she gets them to make up sloaney fashions and slaps their label on it which makes everyone who is into fashion weep.
I actually think Kate and Pippa have a similar style to girls I see who follow a similar path in New England. That sort of posh boarding school, preppy, polo style, but with no real imagination.
Their style is not preppy or posh. The ones that have this style are Lauren Santo Domingo, Jemina Khan, Amanda Hearst, Marie-Chantal Miller, Rosario Nadal, Lady Helen Windsor or Isabella Borromeo.
She is very 1990’s. And this Stella M designer sucks. Nothing good comes out of this woman.
She seems to have backed off on the lower eyeliner a little and it definitely is an improvement.
I like her dress but would have preferred it without the ruffle on the bottom. The back view is ghastly.
This young lady is very precious. Guys she is the one to marry. She does not deserve the criticisms that I have been hearing about.
From the thumbnail on the first page on the tiny screen of my phone I thought this was abotu Demi Lavato!
Dress is horrid. Her hair and makeup look good – looks like she has cut down on the orange tan.
Ugh! Why hasn’t anyone whispered into a Middleton ear that planting your legs stick straight and apart when standing in heels photographs horribly?
Kate is worse than Pips (it is often all I notice in her photos) but Pips definitely needs some help showcasing her beautiful, twiggy pins.
Kate’s posture and walk are pretty atrocious. She stands feet apart legs straight down, knees pushes back, stomach forward, hunched back and jutting out chin. i always want to reach into either photo or video and correct her posture because it is pretty bad.
She looks much better. I wish she would lessen the tan.
Kaiser – even before the book was officially launched, there had been some excerpts published in the Daily Mail and other rags. The ideas are really dumb and rubbish. Not worth buying the book at all.
I remember one part when she talks about a Christmas table setting and advises putting a centerpiece to the table to add more flair.
Really, Pippa, really? Any number of blogs can tell you that! But what kind of centerpiece? What colour? She never went into specifics.
I can find food and party blogs which are more informative about these types of things; and the photos, tips, and information about where you can buy the products featured on the website are basically free of charge.
The reviews are not being kind. She’s being mocked and patronised.
She may be getting the money from publishing a book, but it will not get her actual respect when her book is panned by critics and there are certainly better books out there whose authors have real experience in party-planning but don’t get the big paycheck because their sister didn’t marry into royalty.
Good for Pippa for cashing in on her 15 minutes, but IMO all her other efforts after this will just be viewed as a big joke and there’d always be the comments about her getting this job or another because of her sister, not her own efforts.
I just read this after I posted, and you’re not wrong.
But, last time I went to check out a blog or two for ideas (what to wear to a wedding I was going to) it was 5 hours later the next time I looked up! Time warp- and I had way to many ideas to choose from making me then frozen with indecision…
LOL I get what you mean.
Every time I look at a blog for party ideas (dessert tables, decorations, cutlery, etc.) I get so absorbed with looking at every post about what other people do for their parties. They’re so creative, especially the wedding ones where the bride and groom make almost everything by themselves and they incorporate every bit of their love/family/cultural history into the details and decor. It’s amazing to see their effort into making their celebrations really important and special.
And then I get confused on how to plan my own party.
I’m not as creative as others. 😀
But I do like that some websites like Style Me Pretty and Amy Atlas have the info about the wedding party’s dresses/outfits, and the food, decor, etc. vendors’ info are always given so the reader can have an idea where to get everything for inspiration. Or some websites have posts about DIY crafts using cheap materials for your next party and everything is laid out step-by-step.
Oh, seriously. There are some very creative and talented bloggers out there who crush Pippa in the decorating and entertaining department. A lot of them don’t make money off their ideas either, not even ads.
That dailymail review was probably the best thing I’ve ever read on that site, which isn’t saying much, but I had quite a few lol’s.
I laughed at the snarky review of the book.
BUT, will anonymously admit that it is something I would get for ideas if I had children.
I am brain dead after babysitting- I can’t even imagine being a full time mother: cooking, cleaning, homework, dressing them, shopping, sports, part-time taxi…
Yes, I would want someone to give me some friggin ideas when it comes to amusing and pleasing their friends. I probably wouldn’t even read the blurbs- just look at the pictures. Just like I do with magazines.
Two questions:
1. Is she wearing panty hose?
2. Did she, or did she NOT, wear one of those fake insert-a-bum panties at her sister’s wedding? Because to me, her butt always looks flat as a pancake except for on the wedding day!
1) Yes – unless her legs are naturally shiny.
2) I don’t think so. I think it just shows what expert tailoring can do to flatter what is in reality a very ordinary figure. Plus, because she was constantly filmed from behind, it naturally drew attention to that – utterly unremarkable – part of her anatomy.
Her hair and makeup look great. Def the best I’ve seen her. Dress not so much.
I’m of two minds about the book.
On the one hand yes she’s cashing on on her sister’s wedding ring. The book is stupid and simple. Blah blah blah…
One the other my friend got married and was trying to “cook for her husband” and could not make rice. She never cooked before, would eat out or go home to eat her mom’s cooking. Once she got married, every time she tried to make dinner she’d call me and/or her mom.
So there’s probably a section of the population would benefit from the simplicity of it.
Tell your friend to get a rice cooker!! easy perfect rice every time!!! oh now i sound like Pippa!!!
I don’t know, LAK.
I’m Asian and rice is a staple of my country’s diet. I’ve been cooking rice since I was in 3rd grade, but I still cook very dry rice in a rice cooker once in a while. 😀
Perhaps a Japanese rice cooker will turn out perfect rice every time!
@Sachi – i was introduced to a rice cooker by my chinese room mate at University in first year. That was decades ago and to my eternal shame, i’ve forgotten how to cook rice the conventional way.
Except for rice recipes that call for frying like egg fried frice, i find that my rice comes out perfectly in a rice cooker. And it has really spoilt me. Every time i try to cook rice the old fashioned way in a pan on a cooker…major disaster. And yet intellectally i know what i need for the rice. *hangs head in shame*
On the bright side, thank goodness for new technology, i have also now invested in a bread cooker.i can’t bake. it’s a blind spot. my lovely new bread cooker is turning out perfect loaves every time!!!
technology is wonderful. 🙂
Oh I did! Eventually her mom and I went out and bought her one. (her mom paid for it.) This was a while ago though. We all talk about it now and laugh at the many adventures in burned, under-cooked, over salted rice on the stove.
This is a woman with a PhD btw! 😀
What you have quoted from the books disappoints me as does hearing that the general consensus is not good. I feel like most of what there is to say about “everyday party planning” has been said but I still seek out any new ideas I can.
But heck – I am TOTALLY trying that pumpkin idea! Candles you say? Lighting them… WITH the pumpkin? Brilliant!
Diana’s sisters did not cash in on their association with her. VULGAR
She looks ridic.
Diana’s sisters are nobility in their own right. They have no need to be so vulgar.
Pippa is so over rated. She just needs to disappear and stop trying too hard to be relevant when she’s not.
I actually think the dress is really cute. I just find her inane.
She tries so hard, poor thing. Yes, of course it’s good that at least she’s trying to be productive. And yes, her face with professionally-applied makeup is quite comely and not so haggard.
But the sad thing is that everything about her screams mediocrity. From her clothing sense to her book, she seems to be proving every day that she is, indeed, not all that special. I mean, her sister, if not for her above average looks and the fact that the future King chose her to be his queen, is not all that spectacular on her own merits either. So what were we expecting from this other one?
Personally, I think Pippa should stop trying to get in on this wave of publicity and go the low profile route. Nothing good will come out of this kind of fame. With time, and consistency (and barring any more strange rumors), people will eventually look at her with kinder eyes, instead of seeing her as some kind of famewh*re riding the royal coattails.
I’ve always thought Pippa was beautiful…and she and Kate seem to get along unusually well. (Unless they hide it). It was totally mean what Karl Lagerfeld said about Pippa.
She looks like a brunette Maureen McCormick.
Pippa’s book is to promote the family business, party planning. I think it’s good for the family to stay active in its own successful business instead of expecting to live off of Kate’s marriage.
Pippa has had laser resurfacing on her face to get rid of the sun damage. I suspect it was Fraxel. Her skin looks the best it has ever looked since she came on the scene. However, I find her and all of the Middletons to be totally lacking in all areas. Pushy, self promoting and classless.
I wish we didn’t have to hear about any of them.
