I honestly forgot that Emily Blunt was pregnant. That’s the thing about some of these celebrities – they really can go undercover for months at a time when they want to. Emily has been out and about and photographed by paparazzi occasionally, but usually she was coming out of or going into a gym. Which might also explain why she was so small throughout her pregnancy. That girl kept it really fit. Anyway, I wasn’t expecting a birth announcement so soon (because I forgot), so this was a pleasant surprise. Emily and John Krasinski have welcomed their first child, a little girl they’ve named Hazel.
Emily Blunt and John Krasinski are parents! The spouses of three years welcomed their first child together on Feb. 16.
“Wanted to let the news out directly,” Krasinksi tweeted. “Emily and I are so incredibly happy to welcome our daughter Hazel into the world today! Happy bday!”
British star Blunt, 30, and Office alum Krasinski, 34, began dating back in 2008 and became engaged in August 2009. They married on July 10, 2010 in Como, Italy.
The Devil Wears Prada actress was quite the picture-perfect mom-to-be throughout her pregnancy, frequently wearing very little makeup and showing off her natural glow. After exclusively revealing she was pregnant to Us Weekly back in September, Blunt continued filming the upcoming big-screen musical Into the Woods in the U.K. “Emily’s so ready to have the baby!” a source told Us in December. “It’s been difficult, with her traveling and them having to be apart.”
An insider also told Us at the time that the spouses were finishing up the nursery and babyproofing. “John’s trying to make the pregnancy as easy as possible for Emily,” the source said of the Something Borrowed star. “He’s going to make a great father.”
I suspect John will be a great father. I also suspect that it might be one-and-done for Emily and John, but maybe they’ll have another, you never know. As for the name… Hazel Krasinski. It sounds rather old-fashioned, doesn’t it? Like, I imagine there was a Hazel Krasinski working at a steel mill during World War II. Then she quit mill work with her man came home after being wounded in Ardennes. Also: Julia Roberts has a daughter named Hazel too. “Hazel” is one of those old-fashioned names coming back into vogue in celebrity circles, I think. I expect we’ll be seeing more Millies, Violets and Dorothys too. Anyway, congrats to John and Emily!

Congrats! I love John Krasinski so much, and even though I get a bitchy vibe from Emily he seems to love her a lot- so I sort of like her because of that.
This exactly. She seems like she could be really mean. I just can’t warm up to her. But I will say, she seems nicer and happier when she’s around John.
I see where you are coming from. In pictures – unless she’s posing at an event or acting – she’s always sporting a “sourpuss” expression, as if she’s been sucking on lemons.
Seriously? I think she seems super nice. And I really love her day-to-day style! She looked great being pregnant.
I love them, and she doesn’t seem at all bitchy to me. Such a cute couple.
I also love those sandals.
i feel the bitchy vibe is solely down to her character in tdwp though haha.
Hahaha same! She was fantastic in it, though, so I can understand why some people perceive her that way.
Congratulations to the new family, but when you start naming babies Hazel—-Mabel & Gertrude cannot be far behind.
My oldest almost was a Hazel and her middle name IS Gertrude, lol! And my other two are Henry and Violet – I definitely subscribe to this naming trend 😉
I looove Henry and Violet. Hazel is something I could warm up to if I heard it on a child, rather than just the old ladies around here. I’m all for the William, Charlotte, Victoria, etc older naming scheme.
Bruce Willis and Hilary Swank’s ex both had a Mabel.
It’s not terrible though, and everything cycles in and out of fashion. When I was born I was named after my (foreign) grandma and my name was pointed out as being deeply uncool by the local kids – Oh, the trauma! – whenever I went on holiday; now it’s top 10 in that country!
Julia Roberts has a Hazel – it’s been making its way upward in popularity for a while. Granny names are making a comeback.
Back when I was young, Sophie was considered a name solely for the geriatric set and now look at it.
Hazel is such a sweet name 🙂 I had a mouse called Hazel when I was a little girl.
Congratulations to them both!
I don’t particularly love the name Hazel, but I am glad that traditional names are on the upswing, you know, instead of say, Apple…Congrats to John and Emily…they seem like a nice couple!
I didn’t think she was due until at least March since she was so tiny! Hazel is a cute name and congratulations!
+1
My first reaction to Hazel was hmmm, but it’s growing on me.
Good name and congratulations to the little family! I was/am amazed at the sheer volume of work Emily undertook throughout her pregnancy – she didn’t slow down at all. I don’t know how she’ll cope with the forthcoming press junket/red carpet obligations.
I like classic names but I’m not a fan of the Hazel, Agnes, or Edith trend. These sound like names for grandmas.
Eventually Hazel will grow up and maybe be a grandma 🙂
Congrats, I like the name and bet they’ll be great parents.
Love the name, love them as a couple. Congrats to the cute little family!
Omg! My baby is one month old and her name is Hazel Elizabeth!
And my name is Dorothy, which I hate so I hope it doesn’t make a come back 🙂
Oh no, Dorothy, please don’t hate your name 🙂
I live in Australia and grew up with a cute little movie called “Dot and the Kangaroo”.
I’ve always loved the name. No kids yet, but…who knows.
I loved Dot & the kangaroo, completely forgot about it until now!
Ah! I was just thinking about Dot and the Kangaroo a few days ago. I watched that movie incessantly (and always cried at the end). 😉
I have always loved your name, Dorothy. It is charming and pretty!
Thanks Ladies! I gues it’s all the Wizard of Oz jokes and the bad nicknames. 🙂 my family calls me Dort even though I’ve asked millions of times for them not to. lol
Aw, Dorothy, I have loved Oz for forever, and have been unendingly teased because of it–I can imagine the ribbing you get, but maybe everyone is just secretly jealous that you are named after the main character of one of AFI’s best films of all time. 😉
Hazel is an awful name. It was awful when Julia Roberts used it, it was awful when my friend used it about 5 years ago, and it’s awful now. Makes me think of witch hazel, and of that 50s or 60s comedy about a maid named Hazel. Full disclosure: I named my children modern newer names (but nothing like Apple!)
Some people will dislike the modern, newer names, though.
I tend to go with the classics myself, Catherine, Christine, Michael and David. But many, many people find them deadly boring.
Different courses for different horses.
“Modern names” have their problems too. I have met too many little Jadens, Aidens, Jaylas, Kaitlyns, Madisons, McKenzies, etc, and all the stupid spelling variations that go along with them.
I think Hazel is cute, but it *is* kinda old-fashioned with the last name. My son is named Arleigh, which is really pretty old-fashioned, too, but people seem to think is a new “kreative” name.
I love John and Emily and I wish them all the best with their little lady. I am big fan of traditional names, so I do love the name Hazel. It is very possible she could be named after someone special in the family.
Congrats to them! I like them both, and Hazel is a pretty name.
Love this couple! Congratulations to them both.
Hazel is a cute name but what would you end up calling her, Haze? haha.
Aw, I love the name. Maybe it’s because I love The Fault in Our Stars so much, so I don’t associate it with being old-fashioned.
Emily is totally my girl crush.
Congrats to Emily and John on their little bundle of joy. They make a cute couple btw.
Oh and thank goodness they gave their daughter a relatively normal or decent name as compared to many silly celebs who give their poor kids stupid names like; Rainbow, Apple and North, just to name a few.
