You’ve probably already heard the super-nasty voice message Alec Baldwin left his 11 year-old daughter with ex wife Kim Basinger, Ireland. He called the pre-teen a “rude, thoughtless little pig” and went off on her for missing his scheduled phone call. The message sounded like some kind of threat from an organized crime figure, with Baldwin telling the girl “you have insulted me for the last time” and vowing to “straighten [her] out on this issue”:

I’m leaving this message with you to tell you that you have insulted me for the last time. You have insulted me.

You have insulted me for the last time. You don’t have the brains or the decency as a human being. I don’t give a d-mn that your 12 years old or 11 years old or that you’re a child, or that your mother is a thoughtless pain in the a-s….

And when I come out there next week, I’m going to fly out there for the day just to straighten you out on this issue….

Of course if this message were left for his wife it would be one thing, but this is an 11 year-old girl that he’s talking to as if she’s his ex wife. It’s not her fault if she seems to be manipulative with her scheduled visits with her father.

Baldwin has issued a statement about the issue, saying the tape was leaked by Basinger and was sealed under court order. He has accepted a temporary court order suspending his visits with his daughter.

In his statement, Baldwin said he wasn’t going to say anything about it, but he still managed a few nicely placed digs at his ex and daughter:

Baldwin’s spokesperson says, “In the best interest of the child, Alec will do what the mother is pathologically incapable of doing…keeping his mouth shut and obeying the court order. The mother and her lawyer leaked this sealed material in violation of a court order. Although Alec acknowledges that he should have used different language in parenting his child, everyone who knows him privately knows what he has been put through for the past six years.”

So the 11 year-old was asking for it? Is that what his spokesperson is saying? There’s no apology there, all they say is he knows he “should have used different language.” They practically blame Ireland and Basinger for Baldwin’s anger in that shitty statement. He should have kept his mouth shut to start with, and even in his statement he can’t manage to do it properly. What a rage-a-holic.

I wonder what came first, Alec’s abusive behavior toward his ex wife and child or their cold refusal to have much to do with him? My money is on the former.
