Kim Kardashian dressed up North in ‘baby’s first fur’: excessive & ridiculous?

FFN_Kardashian_Kim_KET_021115_51651304

Here are some photos of Kim Kardashian and North West in NYC last night. They were coming back from Kanye’s Adidas show. It seems like poor North was out late, which never fails to piss me off. I’m also bothered by the fact that North is wearing a toddler’s fur coat. Is this MINK? CB and I think it’s possibly mink, although I guess it’s also possible that this is just a really high-quality faux fur. I don’t really see why Kim would put North in faux fur considering the Kardashian-West clan is all about REAL fur. How excessive to get North a baby’s fur coat, something she’ll grow out of in a year. I mean, it’s bad enough to wear fur, but at least when you get a fur coat as an adult, you can wear it forever. This is a coat North will likely not even fit into next winter. As you can imagine, there’s already a backlash about the fur.

What else is going on with Kardashian Klan? Let’s see… you know that Kardashian Beauty event that Kim and Khloe attended two nights ago? Well, as it turns out, they only stayed there for five minutes. Seriously.

Kim and Khloé Kardashian mingled at a party for their hair care line, Kardashian Beauty, Monday for “five minutes of the two-hour-long event,” spies said. But before their brief encounter with guests at Academy Mansion on the Upper East Side, they posed for photos for a half hour.

“It was a human wall of people taking their picture,” said a spy. “They came out, someone asked for a selfie and it just turned into an iPhone shoot.”

Then they headed to a VIP area to hide before their next appearance.

[From Page Six]

Well, that’s not SO bad if they posed for fan photos for 30 minutes before spending all of five minutes at the actual event. Still, it’s pretty bad.

ah, nothing like draping yourself in dead animal skins to show how wealthy you are.

    • heebeegeebee says:

She’s made it official. That baby is nothing more than an accessory.

    • Miffy says:

It’s shedding all over her black coat, it’s fake or made of roadkill. Calm your mammary glands, sudden animal rights enthusiasts.

Quick question, why does everyone get up in arms about the cruelty of fur when Yeezy and co frequently adorn themselves in leather? In fact, GASP! Even St. Angelina is passionate about leather pants/dresses/shoes. Why does everyone lose their shit over fur but leather (which is basically a bald version of the same thing) is just fine?

      • Kathryn says:

I don’t agree with this, but many people justify leather because it’s a by-product of the meat industry. Fur is just a luxury and serves absolutely no purpose, animals are farmed just so they can be skinned alive for their fur. I think both are vile, and why this is even an argument or “justifiable” in 2015 is beyond me.

      • littlestar says:

Fur upsets people because more often than not, animals that are farmed for fur are kept in deplorable conditions and often abused. Why should an animal suffer just because we want its fur?

      • Melly M says:

Fur is absolutely unnecessary, but it can be hard to find non-leather shoes that don’t make your feet sweat.
If fur were a taboo again, it would help at least some animals. It wouldn’t be perfect, it wouldn’t be enough, but it would be something.

      • Ginger says:

I agree that fur is much more deplorable than leather. I won’t eat beef, pork, lamb or veal because I love the animals. But I still eat turkey, chicken and fish. I still drink milk and eat eggs too. I try to find sources of my meat, etc where the animals have lived a good life and died humanely. But am I still a walking contradiction? Sure. I’ll admit to it. At this point in my life I choose my battles. I do have leather handbags and shoes too. I agree with hunters who hunt mainly for food, etc and treat the animals with respect but I’m against those who hunt only for sport or a trophy. We humans are all pretty contradictory at times. I really hope the coat is just a high quality fake.

      • Miffy says:

Melly, it’s 2015, all meat nd meat by products are unnecessary. There is absolutely no need to consume or wear anything from an animal in this day and age beyond personal preference.

And are you joking about the deplorable conditions fur farmed animals are kept in? As if that’s exclusive to them. A quick google search will show you the disgraceful conditions mass farmed chickens and pigs live on their whole lives. And don’t even get me started on dairy farming, look up bovine mastitis, an incredibly painful condition that can lead to chronic infection if not treated. Cows are farmed in such huge numbers that it does lead to infection because their caretakers won’t/can’t notice. And cows spend their whole lives in and out of excruciating pain, why? Because we don’t really like soya milk

But yeah, fur. that’s the real problem.

      • CH2 says:

Leather is a by-product of cows… which we eat. If not worn, it would end up just being throw away anyway. that’s even worse. However, most animals harvested for fur are not eaten… It’s quite simple really and I hope you’re not too dense to understand it… though your post would suggest otherwise.

    • Duchess of Corolla says:

      +1,000,000

  2. mkyarwood says:

    Gross.

    • alice says:

Disgusting. Maybe they can show North a video of how the animals are executed so that she and her brain dead parents can wear their skins. Anal electrocution, anyone?

      • lirko says:

Wow. I had no idea. That is especially disturbing.

      • piinksock says:

awesome idea. lets traumatise North even more because of her parents idiocy. that’ll definitley somehow give her control over what they chose to dress her in.

  3. bettyrose says:

Wait..These soulless self-involved uneducated vapid morons don’t care about animal suffering?

  4. kri says:

This is sickening. That baby deserves better parenting. I know that North will never lack for money, but I’m afraid she will miss out on other things being raised by that pack of plastic cretins.

    • swack says:

As the saying goes, money doesn’t buy happiness. They think to put her in a fur coat (to help against the cold – not that I approve of a fur coat) but don’t think to put her in a hat to help keep her warm. First thing I learned when I started backpacking in the late fall and early spring was that the first thing you covered to get/stay warm was your head. The brain is the most important organ and the body will send the heat to the brain first.

      • Loopy says:

This poor baby always looks so disconnecting around her parents, her eyes really show some type of sadness. Even in Kanye’s video it seemed like she doesn’t really know who this man is, looking around for her nanny.

    • word says:

I don’t know. The way Kim and Kanye go through money, who knows what will be left by the time Nori is grown. There is no way in ten years time Kanye and Kim will be making the same amount of money they are now. HIghly unlikely. But then again, will Kim and Kanye still be together ten years from now. Kim may have found herself a richer husband by then.

  5. LadyMTL says:

This reminds me of the time my former hairdresser was telling me about the ridiculous gift his mother in law got for her first granddaughter (his child). He said she bought a Dior winter coat, and he flipped out. He asked her to return it and just get the girl a savings bond or open a college fund for her…he couldn’t believe that she bought a coat the kid would grow out of in months. More money than sense, I think is how he put it.

So yeah, this ridiculous coat on a young child is just silly. And horrible too, if it is real fur.

  6. platypus says:

Nice to see she’s being raised learning the great values we all knew she would.

  7. Gisele says:

Are North’s shoes on the wrong feet?

    • swack says:

Are you looking at the zippers that are on the inside of the boots? My granddaughter has a pair of boots (not doc martens) that have the zipper on the inside of the boot. Not sure why the manufacturer puts it there. So the boots are probably on correctly.

    • Lou says:

Every pair of boots I own have the zippers on the inner side, it’s the normal place to put zippers. All the kids’ boots at the store where I work are like that too.

      • Josephine says:

It’s not the normal place to put zippers. The outside is more usual because it is much easier to zip up if on the outside.

  8. BW says:

Definitely NOT mink. Looks like red fox. I know because I have a faux red fox throw and it looks similar, except in Nori’s fur, I can see the skin at the shoulder. With my faux throw, there is fabric at the base of the “hairs.”

  9. Dani says:

I feel awful for that little girl. It’s AN ICE BOX in NYC. Where is her hat?? Her gloves?? Warm boots?? THICKER PANTS? My daughter is North’s age and I could never imagine letting her – or her wanting to – stay up later than 830. This kid is going to be so traumatized. What a shame.

    • Miran says:

I can’t either, but it’s because Kim isn’t the one who puts her to bed or gets up with her in the morning so why should she are how late she’s up :/ my son is 3 and he goes to sleep around 9:30, max, but he also sleeps an average of 11-12 hours at night and is up around 9am.

    • Wren33 says:

I’m not going to nominate them for parents of the year, but if they are just walking from the car to the door, she doesn’t need a hat a mittens. I live in VT, and I am not going to go through 20 minutes of cajoling my daughter into a snowsuit, hat and mittens (which she will take off after 5 minutes riding in the car) if we are just walking one block. If we are going sledding or something, sure.

      • PinaColada says:

        +1

      • Dani says:

I don’t know…I live in NYC and today its like in the low 20’s and getting from my house to my car, maybe 30 feet away, I still bundled my daughter. I rather be inconvenienced than potentially have a sick child to care for.

    • michelleb says:

I can give them a little (very little) pass on the time as Nori is likely used to Pacific time (maybe), though the 3 hour difference is still pushing it. I don’t let my little one stay up past 8:30 either, and I don’t typically take him anywhere in the late afternoon evening if I can help it. I like him to wind down before bedtime instead of the excitment of going anywhere.

Totally agree about the clothing though.

Edited because I can’t spell today.

  10. GingerCrunch says:

Hope they just braided her hair to get the crimped look on top. Poor, sweet, little angel.

  11. scout says:

Real fur? She is a nasty human being and nasty mother. I feel so sad for that baby girl.

  12. Loopy says:

But i heard that faux fur is equally as bad and is made in China using cats and dogs.

    • mimif says:

Yeah, faux fur is no bueno.

    • Kitten says:

No. Faux fur is made of synthetic materials. I have plenty of clothes made with fake fur accents and a simple check of the label will confirm that it’s acrylic, etc.

I think what you’re talking about is the recent controversy where stores like Neiman’s were intentionally mislabeling products made from dog hair as “faux fur”.

But honestly, it’s REALLY easy to tell if something is real fur or not, maybe not by simply looking at it, but definitely by feeling it.

      • mimif says:

In my opinion, the only way to know for sure it’s real or not is to light a few hairs on fire and smell the difference. My friend is an Alaska Native trapper from a small village in Norton Sound, and she showed me some side by sides of real, high quality faux and what she was assumed was dog. I thought the faux was dog and vice versa, and naturally it totally grossed me out.

      • Kitten says:

        Ugh really? That’s awful.

Maybe I’m just a cheap bastard who buys crappy fake fur, because I’ve never had any question about whether it’s real or not.

      • Valois says:

Actually it’s the cheapest fauc fur that is often mixed with real fur, because fur from cats and dogs is cheaper than faux fur.

  13. Lama Bean says:

Why is Kim wearing sunglasses at night??
Why does she look like she is squeezing poor Nori to pieces?
Why do I keep asking stupid questions?

  14. Miran says:

If it’s faux its a very convincing faux. I’m pretty sure it’s real. Real fur is tacky as an adult, even more so to put a toddler in fur.

    • Kitten says:

      I think it’s real.

    • FingerBinger says:

It’s real. Kanye would never have his daughter wearing faux fur.

      • Loopy says:

@ Finger Binger Isn’t it funny how feisty, independent and down right domineering she was with Kris Humpries and now Kanye runs her life. And i know it was his crazy idea to name their daughter North.

      • FingerBinger says:

The name North was totally his idea. The way I see it ,Kim went from a domineering mother to a domineering husband. I really believe she wants someone to tell her what to do,what to wear, and what to think.

      • word says:

        @ Loopy

Yeah, she was the total opposite with Humphries and Reggie. With Kanye she is a door mat. Or maybe that’s just what she wants us to believe ?

      • @FingerBinger, Loopy, word
Some women are just like that. My aunt is like that. She has a boyfriend now, who she COMPLETELY runs over. They have one kid together and she has three other kids. They don’t live together, and are basically just together–no plans, whatsoever, for the future. Yet she expects him to pay all of her bills, and pay for extras (like last Christmas, we all went to a waterpark + a hotel). He paid for her portion of the hotel stay, tickets to get in the water park, AND for her portion of the food…….but he was also expected to get all of her kids presents–and he had to buy exactly what she told him. And it was the same with her previous boyfriend–who treated her like a Queen.

But before that–OMFG. Her other boyfriends treated her like shit, and she had to wait on them hand and foot. It seems like, for her, if they aren’t beating her up, she treats them like crap.

  15. Jonesy says:

Actually, I’d be surprised if North *wasn’t* wearing a real fur coat. This is par-for-the-course for these morons.

  16. sam says:

As someone who sometimes runs events, it is not that unusual for the key guest to only make a 5 minute scheduled appearance. If they choose to stay longer or do any other work its a bonus. It all depends on what terms they agreed to. For example my last event involved a guest speaking for 5 minutes, answering up to 5 questions and then spend 10 minutes having photos.

  17. Paloma says:

I wonder what type education this little girl will receive? Tsk.

  18. lukie says:

I am sure they love their daughter, but all i see is them handling that kid like she is an well accessorized toy friggin’ poodle.

I hope North grows up to be a tatted up doctor, with wild curly hair that prefers to do work in third world and developing countries, hates fur, makeup and is a hardcore vegan.

    • Jag says:

That would be epic! I just want her to be happy – truly happy. Not the “money is everything and you must be plastic to be pretty” type.

    • Josephine says:

My first thought was, “at least they brought her this time.” But then I realized that Kayne was shilling some crap and realized that they probably brought her for the photo-op and attention given that she’s been left behind lately. And I’m not sure either of these damaged people are capable of loving anyone. I truly think there is something missing in these people.

  19. Mary Jane says:

Those tiny Doc’s are amazing, though, n’est-ce-pas?

    • AG-UK says:

They are but she has been wearing them since she was just starting to walk and children that age are so clumsy you would think they would want more sensible shoes that aren’t so bulky oh wait no no they don’t. I forgot nothing they do is sensible.

  20. Dawn says:

Yes it is ridiculous the way this woman treats that kid. She has her out late at night with a heavy coat on and heavy boots and sort of drags her alone. Kim Kardashian is one sick mama and I now see why Kris Humphries response to her “I still love you” at their divorce hearing was nothing more than “Man, I feel sorry for you”. This woman just thinks she is way more important than she is and when the public is finally done with her god only knows what she will do. Poor little direction needs a strong nanny to make sure she loves something other than herself and money.

  21. Susan says:

Ridiculous – Yes! Finally dressing her in a color – Yes! I hope North doesn’t relate her coat to her stuffed animals (or does she even have any?).

  22. boredblond says:

The kid is like an accessory..wasn’t one if them (I think khloe) all anti fur? Wonder if anyone ever dares to question her choices.

  23. shixappeal says:

Don’t worry. I’m sure that when North outgrows the jacket they’ll auction it off and send 10% of the proceeds to charity :).

  24. lucy2 says:

I’m grossed out by fur coats to begin with, but especially one for a child, with a limited window of wearing it? And for that particular child, who will probably be put in it once and then it’ll be tossed in a pile with everything else?

  25. Eazypeazy says:

It’s not that late on the West coast. I basically just defended her :/

  26. maeliz says:

Kim looks like she’s carrying a little furry animal. That doesn’t look fake. North doesn’t look comfortable, and would probably cry if she knew how the animal was killed.
Where are her gloves or mittens? Her fingers must be frozen. Put a hat on the child.
Kim goes out in icy cold NYC almost naked, so maybe she doesn’t think about dressing her daughter warmer

    • Jag says:

It’s hard to remember that accessories have feelings, too.

    • michelleb says:

I know right? Besides the horror of the fur, these people do not seem to have an ounce of sense in dressing their child.

    • Neonscream says:

Most kids cry when they realise the bacon they eat comes from pigs just like Babe, not sure if anyone is judgey about parents who aren’t vegan though. Personally I’m not a fan of fur but to be honest it’s more an aesthetic and financial choice than a moral one (also I live in Australia, it never gets cold enough to even consider it). If you live in the western world and eat meat and dairy then you are contributing to agribusiness practices that are every bit as cruel to animals. In short, hate fur AND everything the K family is and represents but sometimes I do think there’s not a single thing she could do that *wouldnt* attract criticism. Except going away but as long as every post about them on gossip sites gets hundreds of comments that isn’t going to happen, so on that one too we’re all part of the problem.

  27. Katie says:

Let’s just assume that everything she does is ridiculous and over the top.

  28. word says:

Well why would they spend more than 5 minutes at that event? The people who actually did all the work for their hair care line were there to answer all the questions. The Kardashians just sign their name to everything…they aren’t really involved.

Also, why is Kourtney so MIA? After giving birth the last two times she never took this much time away from the cameras. What’s going on?

Also, just a few weeks ago Kim spoke about how much her daughter adores animals and loves going to the zoo. That kid would be mortified knowing her coat is made from a a DEAD animal.

  29. Mzizkrizten says:

I hope North poos on it. Maybe a little mashed pea vomit, too.

  30. Twinkle says:

Ridiculous. EVERYTHING about this woman is ridiculous! She’s one giant, blowup doll with tragic taste.

  31. Judyk says:

This “excess” almost makes it look like Kim is trying to make North an “accessory” too.

  32. McMe says:

That poor baby looks so disconnected from her mother. Kim is holding her so tightly, but Nori seems to be pulling away from her.
When I picked up my children at that age they would always instinctively wrap their arms and legs around me. Nori’s legs are just hanging there.

    • Alarmjaguar says:

This was exactly my thought looking at these pics

      • Josephine says:

Me, too. She looks like she is being squeezed and is not attaching herself to Kim at all. I think this is Kim’s attempt to pretend to be caring and maternal but the kid is obviously not used to it. The kids who hang like a sack don’t want to be picked up.

  33. MamaLin says:

The NY Daily News has published a story about this–the coat costs an estimated $3,500 and is likely crystal fox fur.
    http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/gossip/north-west-rocks-estimated-3-500-fur-coat-new-york-city-article-1.2112747

  34. Greek Chic says:

I think Kim tries to copy the style of Alexander Wang’s niece with the fur and all the black http://www.theluxuryspot.com/alia-wang-is-the-new-black/.

    • word says:

Wow that little 3 year old is so stylish ! You can tell she’s not being forced to wear those clothes…she really likes them. Yes, it’s obvious Kim is copying that same exact style for North. Then again, what did you expect from Kim? She doesn’t have an original bone in her body.

  35. Nicolette says:

Everything this vapid woman does is excessive and ridiculous. When she accomplishes something that is neither, then we’ll be shocked.

  36. Sass back says:

I love fur. Yes, it’s totally cruel and terrible, but it’s warm. My grandfather saved for years to buy my grandmother’s mink. It was the only luxurious thing she owned for a very very long time. It’s so beautiful. My cousin broke her heart when she criticized it. I hope I inherit it but it’s much too small for me. I don’t know why I can’t connect the cruelties of how they make the fur with my love of fur coats but I’ve always wanted one. I think her coat is great and definitely the least of Kim’s potential problems.

    • moomoo says:

I wonder if you might better connect with their suffering if you saw video footage of the conditions in which the animals live and the inhumane ways in which they’re killed.

      • Sass back says:

I have seen them and I still don’t care. It’s awful, yes. I love animals, yes. But goddamn, do I want a fur coat. My old roommate has a chinchilla that I found disgusting to live with and all I used to think was, that thing would make 1/4th of wonderful muff. Is that horrible to think? Yes. But I really thought it and I still want a mink.

      • Neonscream says:

Most people dont become vegans if the cruelty inherent in factory farming is demonstrated to them. Most people don’t think much about the excruciating death by haemorrhage a rodent goes through when they put ratsak out. Most people can ignore cruelty to animals (not to mention people) if it suits them. I’m one of them, I am almost certain you are too.

    • Melly M says:

Why? I find fur coats so ugly. They make everyone look heavy and squarish.

      • Sass back says:

Depends on the coat. They generally have three lengths and all kinds of thicknesses and fits. I’m not surprised North isn’t wearing a hat or gloves, fur can make you sweat, even as cold as it is here in the city. It’s the warmest thing to wear.

    • S says:

I have my grandmother’s also. Same story. I absolutely adore it and wouldn’t part with it. I do wear it on special occasions. I also own a rabbit fur stole. I would happily support a fur industry that was more humane and wish there was more transparency (like an humanely-raised label for meat), but I don’t think fur in and of itself is any more evil than meat.

  37. pinksock says:

I’m not that bothered by the jacket (it looks pretty fame to me) but more so why is she out that late? Why is she wearing thin leggings? Where’s her hat? She’s not an adult who can brave the cold for fashion. She’s a baby.

  38. moomoo says:

She and Kanye are disgusting inside and out. And now they are going to raise a little Mini-Me. Ugh, just ugh.

  39. ek says:

    Yes (excessive) and Yes (ridiculous).

  40. Michelle says:

Kim and Kanye are getting right up there with Liberace and Elvis before he died in terms of tragically tacky. In 10 years, we’re all going to look back on photos of them and either laugh or cringe. Or both.

  41. helzbelz says:

At the end of the day, I just pray that they really love this little girl and care for her well behind closed doors. By appearances, they certainly are using her as an accessory. I saw a pap video of them and it was so shocking what they are subjecting her to – all the lights, pushing, and crowding! I’m sure Kim was and is loved by her family, but her situation has been different to North’s who she must remember was thrown into this before she was even born! I hope that at home she is growing up with love, attention, boundaries, love and care.

  42. glitzz says:

actually real fur matters if you live for example in Syberia! no faux or whatever wont be warm enough as real fur! but in case of LA or even NY its ridiculous!

  43. LAK says:

    Ridiculous.
