I have a hard time with fashion lately. It seems like so many of the really trendy young styles are insanely ugly, and only really beautiful women can pull them off. It’s like some extreme contrast: “look at how mortifying my faded gray skinny jeans and grandma cardigan are! Doesn’t my face look nicer in comparison?” Everyone who’s not insanely gorgeous just looks like they’ll follow the herd. Very little of it is figure flattering on most women. But I realize I sound like a grumpy old grandma, so I’m having a hard time figuring out how to address the bright orange mumu that Jessica Simpson wore to dinner with her family and Tony Romo.
Make no mistake about it, Tony Romo is still an all-star in Jessica Simpson’s world.
Despite spending a lot of time apart recently, the couple reunited Saturday night in Hollywood and it was a family affair. Tony and Jess had dinner at hotspot Beso, along with sis Ashlee and husband Pete Wentz, plus mom and dad, Tina and Joe Simpson.
Trouble in paradise with Jess & Tony? Ashlee & Pete? Sure didn’t look that way. Big smiles all around and a good time was had by all!

The mumu looks like it was ripped off the couch of “The Golden Girls” set. It’s very “circa Southern California, 1988.” I’m waiting for Estelle Getty to come out wearing the exact same thing in magenta.
Jess also looks like she’s working a bit of her infamous trout pout in some of these pictures. Years ago she admitted to getting Restalyn injections, but claimed she regretted it. She does often make this unnatural quasi-mallard expression (does she actually look in the mirror and say “Hey this makes me look hot, I’m going to do this for the ‘Out & About’ section of Us Weekly?”) which is probably what’s going on here. Why are there all these rumors of trouble between Jess and Tony? What man wouldn’t be attracted to all this?

Why is Jessica Simpson still insisting on getting lip injections when it always turns out looking like duck lips. I wish people would stop imitating Angelina Jolie’s trout pout. When it barely looks good on Angelina J (when hers are meant to be natural), you know it’s not going to look good on you when you fake it out. It is not cute and totally obvious.
The dress isn’t so bad, but the horrendous shoes and lipstick are! Jess, you are such a pretty girl…get a stylist!

I think JS looks pretty in these pictures. She looks healthy and happy. The pictures aren’t the most flattering, sure… but these are paparazzi shots, not some fancy photo shoot.

Poor girl can’t catch a break. I can’t even imagine how it would feel to be criticized for my lips (LOL). I do like the dress, though. Bold colors are so much fun. She is a cute girl, but so hapless.
I totally love this dress, She should have gone with nude lipstick though. She does look a little wasted and her hair looks greasy enough to fry some Mcdonald’s french fries in. Girlfriend, buy some shampoo!

I love this dress, she looks good in it. And it’s not a muumuu – muumuus are loose and long and flowing, this is fitted and short.
Why do all the celebrities carry these oversized handbags? Are they stashing all of their prized possessions in case they need to flee the country? The proportions of the handbag to the wearer are totally skewed.
The dress is awful but somehow she picked the perfect lip color.
I don’t like the outfit but its not that bad..BUT those damn tricky shoes and polish are horrible..

It’s not…okay, it is hideous, but nowadays almost everything in fashion is. The photos aren’t flattering, but I think Jessica is actually a very pretty girl in the right light…and when not wearing orange.

I was thinkin this is actually the first time she’s looked really nice. This is why women and gays shouldn’t be fashion designers. They have no idea what men like.
Uh, that’s not a muu-muu. A muu-muu is like a freaking TENT. It’s ginormous. It billows, even. There’s absolutely no shape to it at all. I should know, I own several, LOL! I started wearing them when I was hugely pregnant because it was almost the only thing I could find that was comfortable in triple digit temps at 7-9 months pregnant. Now I only might wear one at night, but they are tres comfy.
Anyway, that’s not a muu-muu.
Ok after looking at the pics a bit more closely:
1. Lose the hooker shoes. A cute spring slide, open toed and open heeled, would have been awesome.
2. Blue toenails? Girl no.
3. I agree about these hugely oversized purses. They look SILLY. This outfit would have been much cuter with a smaller bag.
4. She needs to wash her hair.
5. Nude lips with this.
6. I thought the dress was cute at first but in the full-length shots, I see it looks more like a long shirt. I hate that “I forgot my pants” look.
I will give her props for not wearing something skin tight and cleavage bearing for once. The colors in that dress look good on her. But oh those orange lips. Gad.

It could be a mini muu-muu. More likely, she figured she could double her chances of getting her picture in the tabloids if she clung to Romo while wearing a Hawaiian shirt without any pants.
