I really do not like shades of yellow on the red carpet. There are few women who can really pull off yellow, and even then… why would they want to? Take Jennifer Lopez… with her coloring and her body, she can wear so many wonderful colors. So why did she go with this mustard Giambattista Valli gown at the Golden Globes? I’m really not feeling it. But once I look past the color, I do see a lot that I do like. The actual structure of the gown is great, and I like that she’s not showing a lot of skin. I like the little mini-cape and the diamonds are fantastic. Still… that color. No bueno. Also, her date was Casper Smart. This photo happened!

America Ferrera wore a similar mustard-y shade, only this one was just flat-out bad. It sucks, because I really love America and I always hope that she’ll knock it out of the park style-wise. Not so much here, in this Jenny Packham. This looks so cheap to me, and it’s not the right color for her at all. The high neck is very Grey Gardens to me as well – this would have been at home on a much older woman.

He’s okay, fits the bill perfectly. He provides arm candy and companionship, seems to be behaving himself now from that one indiscretion and she’s obviously forgiven him. Since she doesn’t want marriage, Casper is fine. He is obviously good in the sack or she wouldn’t keep him around. It’s a win-win for both.

While I agree that it was awesome to see JLo in a different type of dress, I think the color was horrendous on her. It totally made her look sickly, especially on TV. That shade of chartreuse is so hard to pull off, I think the only person who ever really looked good in it was Nicole Kidman way back at the 97 Oscars.
The style and cut were great, I just wish it had been in a different color.
Michelle Williams OWNED this color at the 2006 Oscars with that yellow Vera Wang number. She’s proof that this color can look fantastic with the right cut of dress and proper styling.
That dress is the color of bile. I’m always so shocked that people think jlo looks good, I mean her face. Her body is crazy but her make up is always harsh and aggressive and for the love of everything holy… I wish she would close her mouth. I have no words for the Casper appearance.

I agree, except for the fact that the color really is baaaaaad. But when I clicked a JLo post I was ready to see her wearing nothing but a glittery rope that covered her nipples and her lower body, so this is amazingly refreshing.

My thoughts exactly. Her look was one of the few from last night that I didn’t completely hate. The yellow on Fierra wasn’t a good choice, but JLo hit a home run with that dress. For once, she left something to the imagination, which really is something of a feat for her.

Agreed. The color works on her and it really pops. Her hair and makeup is perfect. I just wish she’d stop that silly “smoldering” face she makes for photos. It’s ridiculous.
I like how she gets all her accessories on show in the header picture. Shoes? Check. Ankle bracelet? Check. Purse? Check. Ring? Check. Bracelet? Check. Necklace? Check. If she would have worn something on the back of her head, I am sure she would have gotten that in the picture as well.

Thanks for saying this because I know she was getting a lot of accolades and really I don’t like it. The gown seems to be confused, I mean is it structured? Is it flowy? The overall shape of the gown dose nothing for her figure and the cape seems like an after thought. I love the diamonds and as always her makeup is perfection.
Like I said last night, there is too much going on – a cape and a train and a swath of ruched fabric around her bum, two necklaces,, bracelet and the rings – each piece is beautiful but too much looks gaudy. hated the colour too, but at least she stopped with the nude sparkly pantyhose body suit so kudos for that. She could easily kill it in a simpler dress, but for some reason she always chooses something over done.

Too much and she would look better if she took off the necklaces (with the neckline of the dress she doesn’t need them) and lost the caplet, as it does nothing for the dress other than make it look confused.
I absolutely love this chick. Man she has earnt every penny the oldfashioned way and even though she may have had a leeeeeetle bit of Botox, she mostly looks so killer thanks to nothing but discipline, good diet and hella workouts.

I’d rather save my admiration for the countless women out there working their asses off in godawful war-torn countries in medical, military and humanitarian roles that don’t pay well, don’t get media coverage and you could lose a limb or your life.

she’s had way more than a little botox. She’s had a face lift. Her face is pulled so tight, I’m surprised she can blink. She’s also had her breasts enhanced recently – again. I don’t get the love for her. She’s a great dancer and that is all. She is a horrible actress. She can’t sing. Her being a coach for a singing competition is a joke. She was just an average-looking woman who has had a ton of plastic surgery and now she gets most beautiful woman accolades from magazines? She is not and never will be a triple threat. She’s a good dancer and a great choreographer. Those are her talents. That is all.

Came here to comment on JLo but was pleasantly surprised by how great America looked color and all.
I liked America’s dress as well. But JLO does not look good in that yellow. I loved the dress and even the color but it was not a right fit for JLO.
The fit of the dress is not great, but I do like Jennifer so much more when she wears something elegant and doesn’t show too much skin. Her face is so beautiful, she really doesn’t need a plunging décolleté or see-through materials.
Finally a different look!
She looked beautiful. Like I said last week she has the Benjamin Button thing going on, keeps getting prettier as she ages. All that beauty and talent and she gets the weirdest men. Maybe she knows with him, she will never have to worry about cheating, look at the guy, Jennifer really? Maybe he has hidden talents, like Marc Anthony.
With that particular piece of accessory on her arm, the answer will always be ‘tragic’.
Dress looks fine. What I really want to know is who her award season agent is. That girl has not met an award show that she will not attend or present at. Most celebs steer away when they arent nominated or at least are selective on which ones they attend. But not our girl, there she is, every-single-time, posing hard on the red carpet and blandly reading out cue cards on stage. Anway, one awards gala down, 99 more to go for our girl.

America was stunning, loved the dress and styling. She is so pretty and I like that she dresses for the event but remembers she isn’t 45 and has fun without looking foolish. She just always does these things right.
I however, love yellow and am envious of anyone who can pull it of as I can’t and both these women nailed it…perfectly.

I loved Ferrara’s dress. Not so sure about JLo’s. But you could put her in a gunny sack and she’d still be drop-dead gorgeous.

I didn’t watch because I’m not into watching the entitled of Hollywood pat themselves on the back with their endless awards shows, but I did check out the red carpet pics. Mmm… Don’t love the dress. The style, fit, cut is lovely but that mustard color is just jarring… and her makeup here ages her and makes her look hard. She tried to go with a classic glamour look but she’s really so much more beautiful when she’s done up all dewy and glowing. And don’t even get me started about that thing on her arm.

Jennifer Lopez looked stunning in that dress! More conservative but still sexy. Shades of Blue is really good – very additctive. I think it may be a hit for her production company, Nuyorican Production. Ryan Seacrest is co-executive producer along with her, Benny Medina (of course) and the legendary Barry Levinson. Ray Liotta takes it to a higher level. I wish they camera guy flashed to Jennifer after the Affleck joke but I guess that’s a good thing. It’s in the past and it just doesn’t matter anymore.
Seriously, has anyone else thought of the movie The Village when they looked at JLo’s gown?? ok…in the movie they had to wear these yellow/mustardy colored capes in order to be safe from “those that we don’t speak of”. As soon as I saw her gown that’s what came to me. I’m sorry I love JLo and normally she can do no wrong (aside from that boyfriend, I agree with you all he needs to go…what happened to him being bi?) but my point is that this color made her look washed out and for the first time….dare I say it…..old?
