Back in 2010-11, Katie Holmes signed on to play Jackie Kennedy in The Kennedys, an eight-part cable miniseries. The miniseries was well-liked and award-winning, although Katie was not singled out for any awards or nominations for her Jackie portrayal. But someone thought it would be a good idea to get the gang back together for a sequel miniseries, The Kennedys: After Camelot. These are photos of Katie-as-Jackie filming in Toronto over the past few days.
What do you think of her Jackie look? They got the hair right. I don’t know if this is a wig or if Katie’s hair can really do that, but the hair is very authentic-looking. The clothes sort of make me sad though. Post-JFK, Jackie’s style was simplified for the most part, but she always looked pulled together. I don’t think Katie is even wearing a bra in these photos. Hm.
So, I looked up this new series, and there’s some other notable casting choices: Matthew Perry is playing Ted Kennedy, probably Ted circa Chappaquiddick. Alexander Siddig is playing Aristotle Onassis!! So now I’m jealous because Katie Holmes gets to have love scenes with Alexander Siddig. And let’s face it, Aristotle Onassis was not that attractive.

I absolutely agree. I’ve seen some other pictures from the set and think she looks even more on point.

Straight to video. She doesn’t have the depth to portray an icon like Jackie Kennedy. And she looks ridiculous.
Natalie’s too elfin. Katie’s still a bit too fine featured, but Natalie is really stretching the limits of imagination. Ginnifer Goodwin is probably the closest, but still, they’re all too fine featured.
Jackie had a very unusual face…all the older Bouvier’s and Kennedy’s actually had features you don’t tend to see so strongly in people these days. Finding a young-ish doppelganger wasn’t going to happen.

I liked The Kennedys miniseries. She was OK, but Kinnear (JFK), Pepper (RFK), and Wilkinson (their father) were great. Unfortunately, they probably won’t be in the sequel since it appears to be set after their deaths.
I agree. The three guys were all quite good, especially Barry Pepper as RFK. It felt like she was playing Jackie-O dress up. I also thought the idea that she was so doe-eyed and unaware that JFK was cheating on her was a bit silly. Jackie knew what she was getting herself into. And for some reason she (or the director/producers) had her doing a New England accent? The Kennedys were from there, she was from Virginia.
Nope. She doesn’t evoke Jackie at all. And do we really need another Jackie O movie?
Well there is on with Natalie Portman coming out next year as well so apparently Hollywood is convinced we do.
Ugh!!! Nothing like Jackie! Everything about JKO in public was quietly classy. Nothing about these photos looks remotely authentic. Do we have to keep recycling bad actresses?
No. She not giving me Jackie vibes at all. She’s not delicate and fine boned enough. She doesn’t have that old money air that can make a t-shirt and khakis look like a million bucks. Nope. No. She looks sloppy. Jackie O never looked sloppy.
I think she’s the best Jacqueline Kennedy I’ve seen – look wise. I didn’t think Katie was all the great in the Kennedy series, but maybe she’ll be better in the post Camelot series.
BTW – she makes me want to sleep with my bra on to make sure that gravity won’t abscond with my ‘girls’.
I’ve slept with my bra on almost every night since I popped DD’s overnight at age 12.
If it actually helped, I don’t even wanna *know* what they would look like otherwise. Mass x gravity = acceleration, and my boobs have some serious mass… so they were already sagging when they arrived.
The ‘no bra’ look is perplexing, and Katie looks frumpy.

The problem is that Katie is still Joey. She is not an elegant lady. The look is on, but she lacks the grace of Jackie.
I enjoyed the first series and am looking forward to the new one. I’ve never been a big fan of Katie Holmes but I thought she played the part of Jackie very well.

These photos aren’t the greatest, but I’ve seen other photos of her filming where she really seemed to pull it off. The resemblance eerie.
Also when people point out that she doesn’t look graceful enough-you gotta remember that a lot the photos are just paparazzi shots taken while lounging in between takes and all. It’s not quite the same as seeing an actual photo still, while she’s in character.
I think she’s great . Her last few movies have been critically very well received and she’s always great in a dominant role. In the last mini series she played Jacki but it wasn’t a strong role, this time it is.

I love history so i am going to support her in this she was fine in the first series but just saw batman b she can’t act her way out a plastic bag . i think she should take acting class(she can afford them) and stick to Tv only. But i am so happy for suri she finally matches( winter coats) ,best education, sport actives ,friends also kinda sad if it weren’t CO$ tom wouldn’t be half bad . I will give credit when it’s due Katie saved her child just look at the smith kids “CO$ education” how they turned out as women of color plus the oldest one is the same age as me the way they speak about education makes my blood boil.
