2016 was a crappy year for everything celebrity-related. So many great entertainers passed away and so many celebrity couples broke up. Of course, we’re ending the year in a miasma of grief and depression because of Donald Trump, the worst celebrity story of all time. After Johnny Depp and Amber Heard and the Brangelina split, it would be easy to forget that some of us were rather devastated by Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger’s split over the summer. Diane and Joshua had been together a decade and they almost always seemed solid. I still think that Joshua seems like he doesn’t know what to do with himself now that he’s single.
So why did Diane and Joshua break up? Many of us believed it was because of her closeness and possible affair with Norman Reedus. Almost a year ago exactly, the New York papers ran a series of stories about Diane and Norman being seen out together, and looking very, very friendly. Sources said they were flat-out making out and she was, like, grinding on him in a bar or something. Diane and Joshua reunited and seemingly tried to work it out for another six months before eventually splitting. Meanwhile, Diane still seems to have a thing for Norman Reedus. They’ve been seen together in various cities, and an event last night might have been their official “coming out” as a couple.
Last night in Paris, Norman Reedus opened up his photo exhibition at Galerie Hors Champs. He’s also releasing a photography book called The Sun’s Coming Up… Like a Big Bald Head. Diane was there. Granted, she has an apartment in Paris and she’s always lived part of the year in France. But it feels… like they’re just a couple now, full-on. Like, she dumped Joshua FOR Norman after they had an affair. And that makes me think less of her. Why would ANYONE choose Norman over Joshua? I mean, really?

I’m being a touch flip, i figured it’s just general 10 year boredom. Maybe they didn’t quite click sexually, maybe he wanted kids. Maybe she wanted kids. There’s so many possible reasons. But mainly, I would imagine it’s hard to keep things fresh, and with hot new pieces running around all the time, the work to keep things good isn’t so palatable.

Well, I guess beauty’s always subjective… it’s hard to believe you’d really put Diane in the “not that good looking” category. She might not have a super unique look, but even if she were standing next to Angelina or Lupita, her classic/symmetrical beauty would still be obvious.

I never thought Kruger was attractive at all! I remember hearing about her for the first time when she was cast as Helen of Troy and laughing my ass off – that was supposed to be the most beautiful face on earth that made men go to war???
I was seriously disappointed. She was the least good looking actor in that film, and yes that includes all the men.

Yeah… that’s not really how it works. People change. With certain vices, they cahnge a lot… Edward Furlong was a model once and starred in CK ads alongside Kate Moss. No haircut would make a model out of him these days.

That’s probably it. Diane and Josh had a cozy, quiet life that seemed pretty clean and wholesome. It looks like she got restless after a decade of peace, and when she was working on that film with him, she fell for his reckless and fast lifestyle.
Of course, that’s all speculation (and a bit of projection). And I hope she and Joshua had something open and she didn’t shatter his trust completely. People grow apart, for better or worse, and hopefully he’ll find someone who wants the same things too.

I agree with all of you. I really hate when strangers to a situation pop in to claim cheating. Its different if Joshua or Diana said something but none of us know what was going on with them. Perhaps they were off at the time. Perhaps she met Norman informed Joshua she was falling for someone else and then had a fling with Norman. Its also long been suggested that they were friends with a bearding arrangement. The only thing we know is that she and Joshua have stayed friends which means theres no bad blood between them.
Ok if Josh was bearding for her maybe I could see it, but I went to school with him and well, it would really really really be a surprise that he was gay.
My take is they just grew out of love it happens. Long haul takes a lot of work and sometimes you just want a break…
10 years and both with a lifestyle that kept both people apart for long stretches of time. We paint people with the dreaded “cheater” brush so quickly and assume we know the ins and outs of a relationship from a few Instagram pictures.
I think she mentioned once (during the time they looked like a solid couple) that the’re having couple counseling. I found it strange at the time, but it may be the glue that held them together for so long.

to answer your question: thrill. The thrill of an assh*le. Not every woman strives for the (boring) good guy. Diane seems like that type and I can’t blame her: I’m the same.
I like Diane, but Diane doesn’t come across with much charm in some interviews. And the story she told on her first date/nondate with Josh came across so arrogant that the audience barely reacted in a positive way. Conan had to kind of soften her delivery. I realize it’s because she doesn’t have the charm or maybe humor to deliver the story, but the way she emphasized she never would have agreed to a date with him, as he says it was a date, and saying that the way he looked at her was so “eager,” that she just came across condescending to Josh I know she loves him, and it’s her strong personality that comes across. I think Josh was drawn to her for that reason. I think after ten years she’s drawn to a bad boy now and/or the relationship just lost its zest.
Although, Josh and Diane were apart a lot because of careers, and I don’t believe they had a totally monogamous relationship over that ten-year period. But I think Josh was crazy about her. I did like them together because they had been together so long.

Nope, that’s definitely not “a German” thing. I’m German and used to live there. Aside from that, those generalizations are rarely accurate.
From my experience, a lot of Germans are much warmer in a genuine way than most French or English people (where I live now), maybe except for the North. A lot of them are more blunt, yeah, but not very cold.
She’s also pretty unpopular in Germany because most people (well, the few who care about her and gossip in general) think she’s not very talented, super arrogant and stuck up. Especially at the start of her career, she would go on and on about how French and American she is, that she does not even dream in German anymore, how France is so much more exciting and how she prefers the American Way of Life. She wouldn’t even answer interview questions in German.
After a couple of years and when her career in the US didn’t work they way she thought it would, she became slightly more tolerable, but she still sounds like a twat.

I ended a 10-year marriage to a man who when I met didn’t drink but over the 12-years I was with him, started drinking to help with his social anxiety and it only got worse and worse.
10-years is a long time. Some people change a lot, some people change very little but some couples have to wake up and realize they are walking completely different paths in life and it’s just untenable to stay together.
Sometimes you just need a change. I have been with a clean cut, practical, handsome, nice guy for the last 12 years. Luckily we are in an open relationship, so we get to have some fun on the side. My lover is the complete opposite. Has the longish hair (good hygiene though!), is creative and sometimes a bit of a sarcastic asshole like me. Also, the sex is ridiculously amazing.
I like them all. But I loveeee Norman. I do wish they’d give him a haircut on TWD – you can’t see his beautiful face with his hair hanging down.
I thought JJ was sexy too. Hey, she has great taste in men (even if they’re only friends).
We like to think we know what’s going on, but we know nothing.

Watched him in Triple 9 the other night and thought it was quite good. Speaking of Triple 9, I was wondering why we don’t hear more aboout Anthony Mackie? He has a great screen presence.
My feeling is that a ten year relationship that ends with an affair probably was a sign that the relationship was stagnating and bound for a breakup, anyway. It’s kind of a drag to see such a cute couple end on such a sour note, but it happens.
Reedus, admittedly, kind of does it for me in a, “God, I want to do bad things to him inside a hot shower with lots of soap” kind of way. The haircut isn’t really flattering to his features, but when he’s cleaned up, he’s a more than decent looking dude.
I did not know he was a model! So I had to look it up, and I found the answer in this meme of Norman.

Yeah, so, why would anyone want Pacey when they could have Murphy MacManus or Daryl Dixon? Norman Reedus was a model for years, and he’s a restauranteur, artist, and all-around wonderful guy to his fans. Oh, and note: Helena Christensen had his baby. Norman is lovely.

And for those not understanding the hot and the charisma: Try and check out films like Dark Harbor, Boondock Saints or Gossip (all pre his accident, and incidentally the latter also stars a young Joshua Jackson). Or for something more recent the 2 minute ‘We Live Together New York’ short which is on youtube. So even if he’s not your type (fair), to claim he is ugly is ridiculous. Also anyone complaining about the hair: as someone mentioned above you have to point the finger at AMC for that (it’ll be interesting to see what will happen once TWD ends, because up until Daryl he never – at least to my knowledge of almost twenty years of keeping an eye on his career – had had his hair that long).

I date WAY below my looks level. Testosterone is a powerful chemical. Dating a 2 when you’re an 8 is the only way to get anywhere close to a level playing field. Had a guy friend tell me once that even if a guy’s a knuckle dragger, he sees a 10 when he looks in the mirror. Take my advice young girlies. There’s NOTHING better than a grateful guy.
