Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley have a sort of famously dysfunctional marriage. Katherine told Oprah as much when she admitted that though she and Josh had been together for several years, they didn’t really know each other, and would likely break up if they had to spend two weeks together without interruption. This was really nothing new – in interviews, Katherine has no qualms about telling all how she wears the pants in the relationship, she controls where they’re going, what they do and how they do it. In my mind, the only thing worse than being married to Josh Kelley is being married to Katherine Heigl. Actually, when put in that kind of side-by-side comparison, Josh Kelley seems like a pretty decent guy who just had the misfortune of being systematically emasculated by Heigl. In this episode of Katherine Heigl is Queen of All, Heigl explains how difficult it is for Josh to see her kissing other men on screen. But instead of being understanding about it, Heigl threatens poor little Josh by saying, “’It’s my job, and if I feel uncomfortable doing my job, and it suffers because of it, I’ll kill you.” She truly is America’s Sweetheart.
Katherine Heigl’s husband gets jealous when she kisses her co-stars. The 30-year-old actress has revealed musician Josh Kelley hated watching her sexy scenes with Gerard Butler in upcoming film The Ugly Truth.
When asked if Josh was comfortable with her getting intimate with the Scottish actor, Katherine said: “No, not really. It’s not his favourite part of the profession but I told him, ‘It’s my job, and if I feel uncomfortable doing my job, and it suffers because of it, I’ll kill you.”
This is not the first time Katherine and Josh have had disagreements.
When they first moved in together, the couple argued constantly.
Katherine explained to Britain’s Marie Claire magazine: “Josh and I didn’t live together before we were married because I wanted to hang on to those last days of my single-girl pad as long as I could.
“I’m not going to lie – it was rough when we finally moved in together. It’s the simple stuff everyone talks about. I like things neat, he leaves things everywhere.”
But no matter how angry Josh gets, Katherine says she is “not ready” to stop doing romantic comedies.
She explained: “I know I’m catching some crap for only doing romcoms, but I really like doing them. People keep asking me if I want to do anything more serious, or Oscar-worthy, and I do, but I’m not quite there yet.
“I did a lot of heavy stuff in Grey’s Anatomy. My mother went through breast cancer 12 years ago and it brought a lot of that back. I don’t want to do that 24/7”.
[From News 24]
Sure, she could do Oscar-bait, but she doesn’t feel like it, okay? Because she’s Dame Heigl, and her only interest at the moment is to do romantic comedies. I wonder if Josh was really jealous of Heigl’s The Ugly Truth co-star Gerard Butler. Or did Josh send Katherine to work every day with a note attached to her blouse that read, “Have fun with her, Gerard. She’s your problem now.”
So she gives Grey’s writer/producer grief when she’s not given “Emmy worthy” material, but the Oscars stuff will have to wait?
The note should read –
Good luck shutting her up. I know I can’t…
Wow, she is a ball buster. That didn’t work well for Kate Gosselin. I don’t think this strategy will work out for Katherine and Josh in the long run.
I don’t trust her. She strikes me as one that would cheat if the opportunity presented itself. What decent wife belittles her spouse like that for everyone to see.
Did she marry for the publicity, or what.
The Ugly Truth is that she’s Katherine Heigl.
Sounds like every Irish marriage I’ve come accross 😆
I don’t believe that she doesn’t want to do Oscar-worthy stuff for a second though
I know people really really hate katherine heigl but come on, she only said “I’m not quite there yet”, which most likely means that she doesn’t think she’s ready for oscar worthy performances…
I know she is annoying, but trying to find every little thing that’s wrong with her is just as annoying.
Meh I guess I’m the only one but I don’t mind Katherine.
Whoops double comment sorry.
Oh boy…. BUT at least she’s not one of those actresses who thinks they’re too good for romantic comedies when really that’s ALL they’re good at….
Mairead, be careful saying the word “Irish” because some folk here get pissed off if you mention Irish stereotypes … (eye roll)
Isn’t Mairead Irish herself? She can get away with it 😛 Plus it’s kind of true…*cough cough*
gg, because you might as well said “shanty” when you mentioned a celeb’s drug problem. You used it poorly as if someone with a drinking problem needs to get their Irish under control. Being part Irish yourself doesn’t excuse it. Just saying.
Eh, she doesn’t bother me at all. Most of her quotes that are presented as being “awful” I find honest and self-deprecating. Like the kissing thing…I read that as her being insecure in her acting (as was the Romcom genre comment). Whatever. She will always get under people’s skin because she looks like an angel and she’s in control of herself. Hateful combo. 😉
She seems borderline verbally abusive to me. If we heard about her husband controlling everything, telling her what to do, and making “idle” threats, people would be talking about how wrong it is. I have a feeling she thinks it’s funny and harmless, but it just shows how awful and insecure she is.
I’ll continue my trend of never watching anything that has her name associated with it.
BlueSky….. where on earth did you get the reference to “Shanty” in what I said. Or alcoholism for that matter. I meant that in Irish households the women are quite often the boss. (notwithstanding that domestic abuse happens etc etc).
The fact that you immediately jumped to the drinking conclusion says a hell of a lot more about your prejudices than it does about my sense of humour.
@Because.. ordinarily I’d agree with you, but in this case she’s obviously kidding. Not hilarious, granted, but she’s not being serious.
She doesn’t want to do dramas.
She knows her turf and good for her, because she is doing a good job.
She is still 200% better than the trashy, self-centered, foul-mouthed, the epitome of vulgar that is Julia Roberts.
I liked KH in the first and second season of “Grey’s Anatomy” and also in “27 Dresses.” And… I still kind of have a soft spot for her.
*looks around, and ducks*
wow! It’s crazy how things you say can be taken out of context and misinterpreted! she has a dry sense of humour that some people don’t seem to get. I’ve watched the 3mn interview with Oprah and she never said she would break up with her husband if they spent more than two weeks together. The person who wrote that blog obviously doesn’t perceive sarcarsm!!
@ Mairead: I think that Blueskies comment was directed at ‘gg’ for a comment they had made previously…So I don’t think they were jumping to conclusions about what you were trying to say.
She seems like a total diva and seriously high-maintenance for her hubby, but i do give her credit for saying it like it is. She’s not fully of typical Hollywood BS. And that’s refreshing.
And you have to admit, they do look really in love & darling together.
I’m just glad I don’t work with her.
as long as she is a good actress who cares who she is in personal life plus she is just being honest about it. as long as her movies and her acting is good who cares who she really is.
