Just when you thought Carrie Prejean had all but faded into obscurity following her drawn-out eventual de-throning as Miss California, she’s back with news of a new job and book deal. Prejean, 22, has signed a deal with a conservative publishing house to pen what sounds like more of the defensive “I can’t speak my mind” response she gave following the controversy. Carrie of course rose to fame following her muddled answer against same sex marriage during the Miss USA pageant. A whole media circus ensued, Carrie violated her pageant contract by refusing to show up for scheduled events and becoming a spokesperson for one of those “marriage protection” groups, owner Donald Trump initially defended her, but eventually realized that she was unwilling to work with pageant officials and delivered her marching papers. Carrie complained that she was set up, and that the firing was still about her opinion despite all the chances she was given to make nice. She’s not going away, though, as the title of her upcoming book, “Still Standing,” suggests. Wherever Carrie is standing, maybe at a Glamour Shots in a mall in some mid-sized city, people aren’t paying much attention at this point:
Ultraconservative publishing house Regnery Publishing announced yesterday that it has inked a deal with the dethroned Miss California for her first book, Still Standing.
So what will it be about? And will Prejean actually write it herself?
The 22-year-old former lingerie model will rehash the gay marriage controversy that eventually left her tiara-less but a superstar of the right wing.
“It’s not a book about gay marriage,” Regnery president and publisher Marji Ross told me earlier today. “It’s not a book about traditional marriage…She wanted to write a book about freedom of speech and the double standard that seems to exist when someone speaks their mind and doesn’t happen to be politically correct or consistent with what a crazy Hollywood celebrity thinks is the right answer.”
Ross insists Prejean will not have a ghostwriter. “It’s not one of these things where she’s only the face and it’s not her words,” she said. “She’s writing it.”
With an initial print run of about 100,000, Still Standing will be released in November.

There are plenty of people who buy into Carrie’s excuse that it was about her non-PC opinion, but if you read the obnoxious e-mails she sent pageant officials, andlisten to their statements about how they were repeatedly shut down while trying to work with her, you can tell that excuse is bogus. Carrie still continues to get jobs as a spokesperson despite all the evidence that she’s too full of herself to do a decent job. She was just hired by the Republican party in the state of Florida to recruit young members. Will Carrie’s role be similar to those women in the booths at the trade shows – get ’em in to hear the pitch?
As if Florida and the Republican party didn’t already have enough of a history (think back nine years), the queen of controversy Carrie Prejean is now in the mix.
The state’s GOP has tapped the former Miss California –who morphed from San Diego beauty queen to the unofficial spokesperson against same-sex marriage — to recruit young voters (18- to 35-year-olds) in the Sunshine State to get more involved politically active.
Prejean will speak about the future of the Republican Party at a gathering in Florida in August.
The move, considering Prejean’s polarizing views, had already raised eyebrows amongst state Republicans such as Broward committeewoman Sandy Steen.
“It doesn’t seem like the smart thing to do,” said Steen. “She’s in the right age bracket, certainly, but they’re going to turn off some of the young people who are moderates — that is not how you reach out to young people. She’s got every right to her opinions, but she can’t be the spokesperson for all the young people.”

Carrie will probably alienate even more Republicans in Florida and screw up this job somehow. She’s not able to work well with others and her self righteous attitude usually gets in the way. I was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt after the Miss USA scandal, and thought that she was definitely entitled to her opinion. She ended up shooting herself in the foot by refusing to work with the Miss California pageant, even after Trump gave her another chance. The girl lost her crown for a good reason, and the Republican party should definitely be wary of being associated with her.

I’d prefer to read a book by Miss Teen South Carolina- much more interesting.
I live in Florida, fortunately not the redneck-hicky part, but the southern beached part. It makes me sick to know that she is involved in my states GOP. Well hopefully she blows this like she did with the pageant.
This is a terrible person.
A vanity attempt from an inconsequential, non-intellectual.
For her, breast implants trump, human rights.
And such as, and such as, and such as.
She is 22 and already has ingrained wrinkles in her forehead. She’s not going to age well. She is attractive but in a hard, brittle way.
I don’t care about her political opinions, because shee’s a brain-dead clothes horse and she wasn’t picked for being nice or intelligent. However, is this pucker-faced tranny really the best that California has going for it? I’ve got a couple of friends from Cali who are cuter than her. Yeesh.
Yea. Miss South Carolina wants children in Asia to learn how to read. Can’t beat a book like that.
I’d rather read a book by a monkey. How interesting would that be? It talking about how it learned to write cohesively. Even chicken scratch would be far more interesting then this air head.
What can she possibly write in a book that she hasn’t already whored out to the media? Anyone who would buy a book from this woman is even dumber than she is.
Yeah, the republican party is soooo in touch with women’s opinions- so long as the woman looks good in a short skirt and she’s too dumb to form a cohesive thought.
For Republicans, she is the ideal woman. She’s young, blond, slim, pretty and a paid gun for whatever crap they want to spew out. I guess they think if the messenger is pretty, the message will sound better, too. Not.
(To the tune of “I’m Still Standing”)
She should know just what it’s like
Her heart like winter freezes just like ice
And there’s a whole d@mn country saying “we don’t care”
She’s another fake, just like her plastic bo0b!es there
And we told this fool she didn’t win
Well look at her, she’s coming back again
She’s got a thing for love but it can’t be g.ay
Let’s hope she talks a little while, and finally fades away
Don’t you know she’s still talking louder than she ever did
Looking like a hypocr!te, whining like a little kid
She’s still talking after all this time
Listening to right-w!ng Chr!st!ans makes me want to lose my mind
She’s still talking yeah yeah yeah
She’s still talking yeah yeah yeah
Once she thought that she would win
But intolerance is a mighty sin
The mean ol’ media cut her down
And if her life was just a circus she’d be a clown by now
Don’t you know she’s still talking louder than she ever did
Looking like a clueless ditz, whining like a little kid
She’s still talking after all this time
Listening to beauty pageant airheads makes me lose my mind
She’s still talking yeah yeah yeah
She’s still talking yeah yeah yeah
if she had any ground to stand on, she’d sue instead of looking immediately for the $$$ – bring it on, horse-face.
She looks like a 35 year old tranny. That is what ugly thoughts do to a person’s face.
So much hate for Carrie here, it seems pretty clear that a lot of people feel threatened by both her honesty and her looks!
