Madonna’s increasingly frightening appearance has been commented upon for several years now, but the Material Girl seems to have chosen not to notice. Instead of saying, “Hey, I’m getting a lot of negative press for my protruding arm veins and visible tendons, maybe I should cut back,” the negative comments seem to spur her on. She’s so painfully thin I can actually see what blood type she is (O positive, if you were wondering).
Madge has got the experts worried, and not just for her, but for the general population. They say there’s no way she’s supposed to look like that or that her body is the result of healthy practices. And they’re worried others might feel pressured to look the same. Personally I’ve never watched one of those female body building competitions and thought, “Hey, I’d like some pancake boobs and orange skin too!” but apparently some people are easily influenced.
Under the assistance of her personal trainer Tracy Anderson, Madonna is balancing her workouts and strict diet hoping to find a fountain of youth. In May, Anderson told Us Weekly that “it’s perfectly healthy” to lose 3 and 5 pounds a week. Along with intense workouts 12 hours a week, Anderson advised Madonna to stick to a short-term, rapid weight loss diet that bans processed food, dairy and all spices, oil and sauces, alcohol and caffeine.
Shawn Eisenbach, a personal training manager at New York Health & Racquet Club believes Madonna’s leaner look is because of her dietary constraints. “I know she is into pilates, but I just think it is her diet. She is super lean [and], eating is sixty-percent of any look. She’s definitely on some very strict eating,” Eisenbach told PopEater. Eisenbach admits although the photos “might be distorted,” he would not let any of his clients walk out the door looking as lean as Madonna. “People can do cardio four days a week and do weight training two days a week, [but] this is definitely too much. It doesn’t look good,” he said.
Combined with her workouts, Madonna has been tackling the grueling schedule of her ‘Sticky & Sweet’ tour since last August, and her leaner look is becoming more defined. According to health sources, Madonna’s workouts and low caloric intake might lead to risky health problems in the future. Compulsive exercising can become a threatening disorder and signal potentially dangerous physical risks like dehydration or muscular and skeletal injuries (via Healthy Place).
Fitness trainer Kenville John of Hanson Fitness in Manhattan believes Madonna is getting her lean look outside the gym though. “This is not just a gym body. It is just unnatural. There is no way a person can get this body in a gym,” he told PopEater. Blaming the media spotlight, he assumes the pressure to look young has made Madonna go to this extreme. “Today people can look exactly how they want to look. It is mind boggling and very unhealthy,” he said.
“I just hope people don’t try to follow her and look like this. This is outrageous, crazy and unnatural,” he admits. “Plus, Madonna has a massive tour going on, so who knows what she might be taking to keep her going,” he added.

No spices? Seriously? Who ever got fat from a spice? Isn’t that something nutritionists tell you to learn more about when you start focusing on healthy eating? I can’t help but wonder if Madonna went from the way she used to look to the way she looks overnight, if she’d realize how horrible it is. Maybe it’s the gradual change that’s let her ignore how truly awful she appears. When it’s just a teeny bit here and there, just a little more vein and a little less food, it’s probably easier not to notice how manly (yet emaciated) she looks. It’s how a lot of us put on weight without realizing it – the tiny bit-by-bit process. If you went to bed thin and woke up fat, you’d notice and freak out.
I think Madonna not only has a fear of aging but some sort of body dysmorphic disorder. Quite likely encouraged by her shyster trainer Tracy Anderson. How ridiculous is it to have stick to a “short-term, rapid weight loss diet”? “Stick” means stick with, stay on. Yet it’s “short-term!” That means temporary! How long has Madonna been doing this? While I agree with the experts that Madge could be taking some other things, I think her eating and exercise is so rigid that it’s possible it could be the only thing contributing to her look. She’s been getting maybe 7% thinner, bonier, and veinier for the last five years. I’d like to say it’s time for her to step back and re-evaluate, but we all know Madonna doesn’t settle for anything less than what she considers perfection. Which will likely be when we can spot her pancreas through her sweater.

Celebs always have to look ‘unhealthy’ and ‘unnatural’ to even get far, because in Hollywood, it’s beauty. It’s unfortunate how the casting directors, and fashion heads don’t see it, but the stalkers do, and take the pics as proof with their cameras.
I’m usure if Madonna is ‘unhealthy’, because it might be at an odd angle, only to capture the moment, in order to public false rumors. And the trainer could be lying, to gain publicity.
If Madonna is unhealthy though, rather then telling the world, tell her alone, and leave us out of her personal life. She is human, along with celebrities, not a gossip zoo, not our tools (these notifications are rather annoying).
Am I concerned? Yes, but it’s obviously for health, for the people to accept her look, and the fear of aging. Nothing more, it’s a natural thing amongst everyone.

I think older women who work out in a way that would allow them to do a really active international concert tour, will just sort of naturally look this way. Is it gross? Hells yes. Is it unexpected? Not really. What makes it so shocking is that we just don’t normally see women who look like this, b/c most women over 50 either exercise in moderation or not at all… and for sure, most women over 50 or under 50 definitely would not stick to the regimen Madonna does, because they’re not twirling around in skimpy leotards on a bright stage night after night. That imagery just kind of made me shudder.
The alternative, of course is that she uses steroids or the old hollywood classic crack, and is just plain beat. 🙂
Tracy Anderson scares me. She is batshit crazy. You’re so right that a short term diet isn’t something anyone should be advised to “stick to”. And WHAT WEIGHT did she need to rapidly burn off? Madonna has been in amazing shape for something like 20 years! Really, I can understand how she might not see the weight loss and thinnification as it happens. Too bad BFF Goop is hooked on the same scam-artist, or maybe she could have staged an intervention.
Well duh! When Princess Diana was bulimic no one was afraid to point out how awful she looked and discuss that she might have an eating disorder or some other kind of disorder. This is the first time I have ever read anything about Madonna’s skeleton look that addresses the fact that she OBVIOUSLY is mentally disturbed in some way. She looks awful and what she sees in the mirror is not what the rest of us see.

as for the veins ,her hard exercise/strenght training routine increases blood flow , which makes the veins bigger !theres nohing ya can do about it really! it doesn´t mean she is unhealthy!

She looks harsher now, not healthier and certainly not prettier. Her face has changed into a Faye Dunaway kind of face. In additon to her arms that look like they are about to burst open, her legs look more and more like frog legs.
She needs to learn to grow old gracefully and in a healthful way.
That photo that ran most recently in the daily mail shows those awful arms, but it also showed (to me, anyway) that she is totally getting those “pancake boobs” that you see on female body builders. I’m convinced that she does steriods along with the ridiculous diet and exercise regimen. Let’s see if she starts to get female body builder leather-face as well….

I’m 53 and work out ( for fun- swimming and hiking) at least two hours a day but I DON”T LOOK LIKE ThAT! Yikes. Creepy.
There are some nutritional issues going on there.
you can absolutely get this look in the gym. Problem is all aspects of the look don’t add up as a well rounded gym workout. So, it’s not a look a quality trainer would turn out.
The problem is not her arm muscles. It’s A. the restrictive 6-800 kcal. she has been on for years. B. the fact that she is 50 and has little elastic left in her tricep skin. Making it a more skeletal look. C. the casper the ghost skin color she is sporting.
Here’s my issue. With the incredibly low body fat percentage that her arms suggest she would, typically, be much thinner through the collarbone, sternum, and face. Which she is not. The face you can contribute to fillers and work but the fact that she is not anorexic looking through her chest leaves me to believe that she is mainly or only doing arm training- weight wise in addition to yoga/Pilate’s.
The pic of her quads worry me more than the photos of her arms. That is extremely odd definition. Again tending more towards a highly restrictive caloric intake than to ‘pumping iron’.
Madge still has little pockets of fat in her hips, abductors and adductors. That uni-quad look is just weird. You should see at the very least double definition as thin as she is.

It is most certainly not “perfectly healthy” to lose 3 – 5 pounds/week, it’s also not natural unless you are morbidly obese. In general, people who are not significantly overweight but who do need to lose weight, lose an average of 2 pounds/wk. The first couple of weeks you may lose a little more (the first week, it’s usually more due to loss of water weight) but someone at Madonna’s weight shouldn’t be losing weight at all.

She must eat carbonates and meat to develop those muscles. she probably add some muscles builder nutriements in her diet.
There is no way that you deprive yourself while building muscles, au contraire. She eats a lot and exercise too much.
If she didn’t eat she could never develop muscles mass. Depriving frpm food makes your muscles melt because the body will try to look for the energy food located in the muscles. It eaten your muscles and you become muscleless and weak, anorexuic don’t have muscles elasticity or definition.
If you exercise, you need strenhgth and energy and therefore you need to develop the muscle to get full of energy in your muscle mass. The fuel to develop it is mainly into meat and pasta, hence muscle/body builders, women and men alike eat meat.
She should stop overexrecising in the fithness/body building type of exercise, even her thighs are scary. She should opt for a more soft development like in the ‘Pilate’ method or classical dance since she is a trained one. Swimming is also good
And she should take Scary Spice with her too because she is in the same route.

Those are NOT muscles. Those are tendons, the tendons that hold her underdeveloped muscles to her bone structure. In fact what we’re seeing in these pictures is the result of improper training and diet that has resulted in no muscle mass. Her body is literally eating away at itself. She clearly has body dysmorphic disorder
She’s always been delusional in regards to her appearance. She’s never believed herself to be beautiful (sorry to say I agree with her) so she tries a lot of different “looks” to achieve what she perceives to be beauty. I’ve always felt rather sorry for her. No matter how much surgery she has or how much money she spends on fashion and beauty products, she is who she is…plain and rather dull looking.

when you compare the pictures of her last tours she def lost weight. ballerinas are normaly very skinny and have a harsh training programm plus you dont eat that much. her body just reminds me of that ballerina type body. shes just very small so it looks odd on her. but from a medical point of view: shes getting a bit too old for that, she just should relax. otherwise its heartattack at 54.
To me she looks like she is very much lacking protein and sufficient amino acids that come from protein. She is probably on a very low intake anything diet, gets “regular” cleansing and tries to get her nourishment via overpriced supplements, but of course bodies need food in order to absorb these nutrients. Cutting out processed food is very healthy, yes. But this looks like so much more than that.

I think everyone is blaming Tracy Anderson when it isn’t her fault that Madonna is afraid of aging.
I have been following Tracy’s diet for the past two weeks and doing one of her exercise videos. I am losing weight because the 1) I have a lot to lose in the first place 2) Her workouts are hard and 3) because you have to weigh and measure everything on her diet.
The diet is only meant to be followed for 6 weeks, not a lifetime. I am learning what a real portion size looks like on her plan. It’s very low calorie and I have found that I have to add a 100 calorie snack in before I exercise or else I am too exhausted. But, as with anything, you get used to it if you stick with it.
I would bet my life that Madonna wouldn’t listen to Tracy or Gwyneth criticize her look since she is so wrapped up in it, it defines her.
Okay aging myself here but…

The Daily Mail had a followup story with a trainer analyzing Madonna’s look. He said she has the body of a muscle builder, and her problem is that she’s too lean.
She doesn’t have enough fat on her arms, her muscles are hanging off the tendons, and there’s no fat to smooth it out.
It is disturbing to look at!
By the way — the Mail’s expert also explains why Madonna (and Angelina Jolie) have bulging veins. It’s the lack of fat, they are so lean there is no fat to cover them up.

I absolutely believe she is on GHB/Human Growth Hormone. Just my opinion, but that’s what she looks like to me.
She looks like a female bodybuilder or figure competitor – you get that lean by eating clean and switching up your weight rep range at the gym…bodybuilders are not all orange with pancake boobs – they are people who diet their ass off for 15-20 weeks to get on stage – people in my orginization do it naturally and it takes a tremendous amount of dedication & willpower!

I will say one thing in Madonna’s defense: I saw her concert and the girl does not stop moving or singing for hours. I mean she puts those other much younger performers to shame, most of whom can barely walk and sing at the same time, let alone dance (let’s face it, Myley and her ilk don’t dance, they just walk with “emphasis”). So in a sense Madonna is like an athlete, a marathon runner. And marathon runners are all super skinny.
But she could at least eat, stop using testosterone and cover her arms. And I’m sure some of the photos we see of her are photoshopped to exaggerate the look. Still, send Madonna pignoli or some a nice sloppy eggplant t parmesan sandwich.
