Elisabeth Hasselbeck gives birth to third child, son Isaiah Timothy

Elisabeth Hasselbeck took a break from The View to give birth to a bouncing baby boy yesterday. Elisabeth welcomed Isaiah Timothy Sunday afternoon, and mother and son are doing well. Isaiah joins Elisabeth and Tim Hasselbeck’s two older children, Grace Elisabeth (4 years old) and Taylor Thomas (21 months old). Hasselbeck’s due date was August 11, so the baby was all of two days premature, which doesn’t count, right? I kind of like the name Isaiah Timothy, but what is the abbreviation/nickname for an “Isaiah”? “Is”? “Isa”? Isa’s not bad, actually. That’s kind of cute:

It’s another boy for Elisabeth Hasselbeck and her husband of seven years, former NFL quarterback Tim Hasselbeck.

The 32-year-old View co-host welcomed son Isaiah Timothy at 2:49 p.m. Sunday in New York City, according to a blog entry posted to the ABC talk show’s official site.

“Elisabeth and Isaiah are doing great and we’re excited about the addition of another baby boy into our family,” Tim Hasselbeck said in a phone interview posted on the site.

Weighing in at 7 lbs., 7 oz., Isaiah joins siblings Grace Elisabeth, 4, and Taylor Thomas, 21 months, at home.

Elisabeth announced the pregnancy on-air in January. Her due date was Aug. 11.

Since I don’t follow The View with any regularity, I have no idea how long Elisabeth will take for her maternity leave. Maybe she won’t even come back. There are constant rumors swirling around The View that Barbara Walters would love to get rid of Elisabeth, and that Babs is always telling Elisabeth to tone it down. But Elisabeth probably brings in more ratings than anyone else (except maybe Rosie O’Donnell), so I doubt Barbara will get rid of her any time soon.

Good gravy – She’s only 32 – why does she look like she’s in her 70s? Girlfriend needs a rest.

  2. anonymous says:

I like Elisabeth. She’s cute. Is she completely stupid or just Republican? I’d say the media dislikes her BECAUSE she isn’t a liberal. Admittedly she says some stupid things, but don’t we all? Brad Pitt anyone? Rosie O’Donnell? Whoppi Goldberg who, what, didn’t believe we landed on the moon? Come on.

  3. j. ferber says:

She does look 70. Maybe she’s still employed because she makes Barbara Walters look good.

    Ike?

    Sissies.

  6. Bittercup says:

Beautiful, fecund and Republican- all things the bitter, dried-up hags on the left hate.

  7. danielle says:

Lol-we watched the original broadcast of the moon landing not long ago – they had this simulated drawing of the ship that looked like it was done by a talented 8 year old – but they only wrote simulated by it part of the time! I mentioned it to my dad and he said because of that many people thought the moon landing was faked.

And is Hasselbeck using Botox? Cause she looks rough.

  8. Tia says:

Bittercup? Jealous much.. your name says it all… lol… bitter people spew hate behind a computr.. wow you are very cool. AHHAAA

Poor poor child. He doesn’t stand a chance..

It’s been so nice lately on The View. I can actually watch it again as the intelligence level of the show has soared with this ridiculous and irrelevant motor mouth being on maternity leave. Unfortunately she’ll be back on in no time and I’ll be flipping the channel to something else.

  10. Jo says:

I love Elisabeth and know that she is the only well educated person on the View. Thank goodness she is there to bring at least some intelligence to ignorant liberals Shari, Joy, and Barbara. As for Whoopi she is really a consevative and getting smarter every day!

  11. Praise St. Angie! says:

well, I wouldn’t say that she looks 70, but she does look older than 32.

here’s my issue with her views…not that she’s a republican, but that she’s not very informed and doesn’t articulate the republican side well. when she’s challenged, she cries and complains that people are ganging up on her.

there are plenty of intelligent republican women out there who could give the other hags on that show a run for their money…it makes me think they keep her on as the token republican so that the GOP comes off as stupid, weak and uninformed.

st. angie – you perfectly summed up not only elizabeth but also her idol, alaskan quitter sarah palin.

and yeah, hasselbeck is using botox – her forehead looks like a grape.

  18. TaylorB says:

    Congrats to the Hasselbecks!

  19. Taya says:

Dam, is that her husband or her grandfather?

Hey, why did you delete my post? It is true.

  20. mE says:

Congrats on the new baby. Nope, I am pretty sure that 2 days before due date is not considered premature (I think preterm is usually before 37 weeks). Due dates are estimates after all.

I completely agree with Praise by the way. It is pretty narrowminded to say that only people who agree with your world view are capable of being intelligent and well spoken. I know plenty of people who have completely opposing views to my own who are extremely well educated and bright. They are called “other human beings”, if I recall correctly. That is what makes life interesting. If we all completely agreed, life would be pretty boring.

  21. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

She had a baby, whoop. I’m about to have my period. Nah, I’m being crass because hayfever isn’t a reason to shirk responsibility. Congratulations, and such.

    But…

I think that we might be over-inflating the amount of power Barbara wields. True, I’m not fan of her head cheerleader mentality and fawning sycophantic celebrity interviews, but she’s hardly unique in that regard. The thing to remember is that Bill Gedde is a Republican, and likes to have an opposing voice within the very left-centric entertainment industry.

If everything lived and died on Barbara’s word, then I would agree that she’s keeping Hasselbeck on for the purposes of A) ratings B) a ‘proof’ of the flawed Republican psychology. As she is a ratings hit, I think that the reason they have her around is because people only ever talk about that show when someone says/does something dumb/offensive.

As far as ‘young, beautiful and fecund’ goes, I don’t think they’re threatened by it. Since the show’s premiere a dozen(?) years, the panel has always had one younger member present. The intent is to widen their viewing demographic and find out what all of those durrned kids are thinking. She was even younger and less, um, drawn when she began, right?

I think the attacks result from an incurious and combative nature on her end. If you present an argument for the purpose of debate, you can’t play ‘poor, put-upon kitten’ when you are challenged. It makes you look like a hysterical little girl and does a great job of negating your points. Valid or not, if you can’t/won’t expand on your points with some degree of composure or objectivity, it makes it really difficult for people to take you seriously.

If she would look for more scholarly sources than ‘the internet’, it would at least suggest an ability or desire to reason through her stance on grounds that are more stable than ‘gut feelings’, or what-have-you. She’s ostensibly an advertisement for her party, so if I were an American, her pitch wouldn’t win me over to her side.

Yeah, yeah, she’s not a politician, and she doesn’t speak for all Republicans, obviously. I just don’t think she’s a very good ambassador. If someone disagrees with you, it’s not because that person hates you–presumably.

  22. Anastasia says:

I love that she’s on the View, because she destroys her own points by acting like a crybaby anytime anyone challenges her on ANYthing.

    So rock on!

Although…don’t Republican women believe in being full-time stay at home moms? Maybe she could do that.

  23. tasteT says:

What a witch, her voice makes my butt hurt..

  24. Mace says:

I don’t watch The View, but Hasselback is really looking old. She looks to be at least 45. She needs to lay off whatever it is she’s doing. Her hubby looks like he’s mid-40s, too. Maybe it’s the stress. Or maybe it’s the RNC. Hard to say.

Btw, “fecund” isn’t usually used when describing people — it’s usually related to ideas.

  25. Magsy says:

She’s only 32 years old, not with that neck.
