We have a cap of three Britney stories a week, and since it’s Friday and we just posted the first one, you’ll forgive me for adding another. Britney’s mom Lynne Spears is writing a tell-all book about her estranged daughter. Most reports have Britney scared of the revelations that could come out about her, and probably rightfully so. Britney has publicly snubbed her mother and doesn’t seem to be talking to her at this point, so Lynne has got to be fuming and might go for the jugular.
OK! Magazine says that the book isn’t going to be all that damaging to Britney and is going to be a stage mom’s account of raising her two daughters. They claim that a source states that “it is not a tell-all, and Britney has no problem with her doing it.” [From OK Magazine, print edition, November 12, 2007] It is titled Pop Culture Mom: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World. Lynne has written two other books, both of which credit Britney as a co-author, Heart to Heart in 2000 and A Mother’s Gift in 2003. This claim is made in one of those inset boxes in another article about Britney which is pretty boring. It’s an interview with her friend Sam Lufti, who basically says everything is fine, Britney’s a great mother who doesn’t do drugs, and that Britney is not worried about her mom’s book, because “it’s more on the religious and spiritual side of things. Britney has no problem with it.”
This week’s Star Magazine has quite a different story about that book, and they claim it is indeed a tell-all, and that Lynne is going to drag out all the skeletons from Britney’s messy closet. Among the supposed revelations is the claim that Britney’s relationship with Justin Timberlake was orchestrated at the end for maximum publicity, and that their breakup was carefully planned by their handlers:
One thing that Lynne could reveal is the shocking truth behind Britney’s three-year romance with Justin Timberlake, which ended in 2002, when she was 20.
“Toward the end, their relationship was used for show,” says a family insider. “They were together for the hype they caused in public, although Britney did have puppy love for Justin. Their breakup was scheduled and went down the way their agents and publicists wanted it to, without regard for Brit’s feelings. The whole thing brought in a lot of attention and money – just the way it was supposed to.”

Britney’s “extensive drug and alcohol abuse” is also said to be among the topics covered in Lynne’s upcoming book, along with their family’s hard knock life in Louisiana before they were able to pimp out their daughter. According to Star, Lynne needs the money because “Britney stopped giving her money this summer, because she felt Lynne was siding with Kevin.” That seems to be plenty of motivation to talk crap about her daughter, so maybe we’ll get some good dirt on Britney soon. Look for a lawsuit afterwards.
That’s sad for Britney if her first love relationship was manipulated like that, and may explain why she is so f’ed up at this point. While Britney is an adult now and is responsible for her own actions, you can’t help but wonder what kind of home life she had that may have contributed to her mental problems.
Reporting on Britney twice in a day kind of makes me feel like when you have one of those spectacular cheat days on a diet. You just kind of fall off the wagon and say “f*** it,” eating whatever you want and enjoying it, feeling sick and guilty afterwards. She’s a bad habit that we tried to break.
