This is Blake Lively at a screening of The Lives of Pippa Lee last night in New York. That’s right – New York! Not Los Angeles, where this outfit might be slightly weather-appropriate. Blake wore what boiled down to a pair of hotpants and a fitted, barely-there blazer… and nothing else. Now, I love me some Blake (I think she’s gorgeous), but her fashion sense sometimes falls on the wrong side of “oh my God put on some clothes and stop showing everyone your ladies”. This is one of those times. I would maybe (maybe) accept this blazer/jacket thing with nothing underneath, if Blake had paired it with a nice skirt (that didn’t show her cooch) or a pair of actual pants (which I don’t think Blake owns). This girl and her short shorts. In late fall/early winter! It’s crazy.
In other Blake/fashion news, the rumor going around is that Victoria Beckham has selected Blake Lively to be the face of her Spring 2010 collection. It’s just a rumor at this stage, but I could see it happening. Blake wore Beckham to an event a few weeks ago, and she looked really cute.
Not happy with being her own living embodiment of her brand, Victoria Beckham has reportedly enlisted the help of Gossip Girl star Blake Lively to model her Spring 2010 collection of dresses. The blonde actress who is known for playing Serena van der Woodesen on the hit television series met Beckham in New York during fashion week this September and “got along famously” the Daily Mail reports.
The new found friendship has reportedly also ready resulted in a guest appearance by Beckham on Gossip Girl so only time will tell if Lively will return the love by modeling for her.
Lively has been seen on red carpets wearing Beckham’s Spring 2010 designs, but it was Gossip Girl’s Blair Waldorf (played by Leighton Meester) that has worn her designs on the show.
Meanwhile, earlier this month Beckham told Britiah Harpers Bazaar about how she would like to dress Burberry model and Harry Potter actress Emma Watson, calling her “so sweet, so true to herself”. So perhaps she’s just putting a few iron’s in the fire to see who says yes first?

Meh. It may be a smart collaboration – God knows, I doubt Posh could get anyone more famous or fashionable. Emma Watson is a pipe dream at this point – Emma’s the face of Burberry, for the love of God. Like Emma would deign to wear Posh’s clothes. As for the business side of the alleged venture – well, the kids like Blake, and Blake likes wearing tight clothes. Makes sense to me. Let’s hope Posh’s Spring line isn’t dominated by booty shorts!

well i live in nyc , and it was about 60 degrees … now that i think abput it she is a slave for fashion . but it wasn’t frigid or anything .
Booty shorts are nearly always inappropriate. Which is probably why we saw them on Chloe Sevigny before any of the rest of these starlets. Heh.
Oh Blake, even a little peon like me knows that you display the ladies OR the gams, not both at the same time. She is a major contender for over-exposure, in more ways that one. The flip side is that if I had her body, I may also have a hard time keeping it under wraps….
What does inappropriate mean to you? She’s a young adult woman with a great pair of legs, on a red carpet no less, not exactly grocery shopping. It’s a nice outfit, in keeping with the boyish prep-school look that is on-trend this season.
What does “weather appropriate” mean to celebrities? You cannot convince me that everyone in LA needs to wear furry boots all summer.

yah, the more she shows off all of her boobs, the more apparent it is that they are fake-they have no natural sag, ride too high on her chest, are too symmetrical, and have too much volume on the top. the surgeon’s work was good, but in a top like that, it really highlights the falseness of her boobs. I wish she would wear stuff that didnt betray her surgical enhancements quite so much-from afar they look like a better version of posh spice’s the way they are bolted on.
I’d wear that too, if i looked like that. However, having said that, I get the impression of Barbie boobs in my head with that jacket.
It’s just a weird outfit in general. The blazer looks like something my mother would wear on christmas (albeit with a blouse underneath) which is why its so poorly matched with booty shorts… Matron on top/Ben Affleck’s mistress on bottom. Blake has a nice figure, but I don’t think her legs are SO great she needs to show them all the freaking time. Invest in some pants Blake.
And I agree with everyone, this top pretty much ends the debate about the realness of her boobs. Fakes!
She’s in her twenties, right? This is not an inappropriate outfit at all IMO, in fact I think it is downright adorable.

as for blake being being the new campaign girl for the Victoria Beckham line, well, it’s just funny cause Posh just said in an Allure interview “don’t have all your legs out and all your boobs out. Cover something up” – that is definitely not the Blake Lively method of dressing.

As far as weather appropriate – that never seems to matter to stars, but I’m with y’all that say show off the legs OR the ta tas, not both at the same time. IMHO the shorts look stupid with that fancy jacket. The jacket’s ok, I guess. I probably would have worn something underneath, but if you have enough double-stick tape and perky twenty-something (or plastic, whichever the case may be) boobies, go for it. I kinda think that jacket is more “grown up” and she’s sluttin it up by not wearing something underneath. But, what do I know? Maybe we should see what fashion icon Lindsay thinks. She probably would have suggested some leggings….

I think the shorts are fine. She’s got the body to show off her legs so might as well do it while she can. It’s the blazer with nothing underneath that looks odd.
Also it hasn’t been that cold in the northeast, it’s been a fairly mild fall. If you were from NY though, you’d know that.
