  1. Firestarter says:

    Eva!? And not Angelina?

    *checks if sky is falling*

  2. Anna says:

Why? I get that they probably didn’t want to go for obvious people like Angelina, but off the top of my head, I cannot name a single charity or even charitable act I know that Eva Longoria was involved in. So weird.

  3. Munkey says:

Oh, man. The loonies are gonna be pissed! Eva better sleep with one eye open until this blows over.

  4. Delilah says:

I think it is more charitable to actually do something without alerting the presses. Seems less self-serving. Although I am sure those in need don’t care where the help comes from, and are grateful for the press seeking pimps too.

  5. Firestarter says:

@Anna- Thats because some people do not want or need to have their charitable acts to be shouted from the roof tops. Some people do it quietly and without the recognition that others so often get.

  6. WTF?!? says:

Most people aren’t whoring out charities for their own PR, Anna. EL has done good privately, not traveling the world on taxpayers’ dollars wearing designer versions of local garb and posing for the press.
There are many, many, MANY people you’ve never heard of who do great works, they just don’t squeeze out alligator tears when the camera lens clicks to get maximum exposure, further exploiting the people they claim to want to “help”.
    Congrats to Eva.

  7. alex says:

Is this thread about Angelina or Eva? For people who hate AJ some of you people are really obsess with her lol. Methink she owns you all butts lol

  8. Tess says:

If Longoria was truly trying to do good works quietly and privately, without publicity, why accept the award?

    Doesn’t quite add up.

  9. Vermithrax says:

    GO EVA!

  10. badrockandroll says:

Part of philanthropy, in addition to good works, is raising dollars. Dollars can also be raised through PR. I am as interested in knowing in which causes Ms. Longoria Parker is involved, as I am in knowing who travels the world on taxpayers’ dollars (besides Carter, both Bushes, both Clintons and Obama). I am always surprised when Gates isn’t named on these things too.

  11. anonymei says:

Crayzdaysandnights.net had a blind about her that was revealed a few years ago. (FYI- he blogger who runs it hates Eva but thought the story was worth sharing) Every week possible, she donates her time to charity. I believe it was a school for underprivileged or disabled children. She has a sister with Downs or something similarly devastating. She does not court any publicity for her charitable work. It is truly from the heart. I tried to find it and can not. Sorry.

  12. Ursula says:

Eva does a lot of charity especially for the Latinos but people have come to expect celebrities to hold press conferences even when they are donating 500 dollars. I don’t believe this is charity, that is PR. Moreover, Eva gets money from her own pockets and not from selling pictures of innocent children, I guess that resonated with the people who gave this award.

  13. Charity is Chic says:

    Congrats Eva.

Alex honey, just accept the fact that your Queen is not all that special. People who can’t do a nice thing EVER without issuing a press release, giving a press conference, staging a photo-op or doing an hour long sit down with CNN to let EVERYONE know they just did something nice for someone are not all that special.

The fact that you and the Brangeloonies are still blindly defending your Queen says to me she owns YOUR butts….not ours.

  14. Mimi says:

Funny is how in this post the anti-JP comments is the ones that are bring her up.

Congrats to Eva ANYONE that is trying to help donating TIME or MONEY are good people in my book.

And about press conference to bring attention to a awful situation that children’s and adult’s are going in their DAILY LIFE’S IS NOT A BAD THING again in my own personal view.

Stop this hate just make u people look stupid and shrews.

Why can we agree that everyone that try make good things to people in need are indeed good people. Why can we all stop criticizing the method that anyone choose to do their charity. If they want to do it quietly is nice of them despite that quietly to ones is if u never now that they did but if was this way nobody would say that he/she donate so burn if do and if u don’t do it.

In what world we are turning the planet that we live. Is OK to criticize people that donate their time and money to others but is also OK glorify useless celebrity’s that just have a pretty face and empty head, or beat it woman, or are able to get people felling sorry for them for being a addict that treats people badly.

ALL OF U NEED JUST STOP AND LIVE UR LIFE THEY ARE NOT HURTING U OR BAD MOUTHING UR IDOL THEY ARE JUST LIVING THEIR LIFE

  15. Anna says:

@ Firestarter and WTF – I completely understand that, there was no need to get upset. But I can think of a number of celebrities who quietly do charity work (Christina Aguilera instance) and who are known for doing it, yet without turning it into the me!me!me! show. Natalie Portman is another good example, or Alicia Silverstone. I was merely expressing bafflement because I don’t know of anything charitable Eva is involved in. And she is, from what other stuff we hear about her, quite the high-maintenance diva (not that other celebs aren’t).

  16. lucy2 says:

I admittedly can’t stand Eva, however, I am very impressed that she has done enough to warrant this award yet does it fairly privately. I never would have guessed it.
Any charity is good, no question about it. Even if it also benefits the celeb in terms of good PR, at least the charities are helped in the process. But I have to agree that I admire someone doing things quietly and because they simply want to do it, rather than someone who has to let everyone know how generous they are.

  17. Mimi says:

i forgot to mention that by ALL u here that CONDONES people that do it charity and bring the attention of the press to know the situation in those countries OBVIOUSLY HATE ALL CELEBRITY’S THAT WORK TO UNO or any other organization that accept CELEBRITY’S well now in diverse countries to bring ATTENTION TO THEIR CAUSES.

  18. WTF?!? says:

“Bringing attention to” a cause and actually doing something to help a cause aren’t the same thing, Mimi. How much money have YOU donated to African causes b/c BP/AJ went there? Have you volunteered to help that cause? I thought not.
I don’t think FS or I are upset, Anna, we simply answered your question. Just because you haven’t heard what Longoria’s done doesn’t mean she hasn’t done good work. Google “Eva Longoria” and “charity” and enlighten yourself. Kaiser worships the Brange, so every time they fart in the direction of a charity, we hear about it.
