Sandra Bullock has spent much of the year being a hot mess on various red carpets. No, actually, she was just a wreck on one red carpet, but once was bad enough. So it’s nice to see Sandra pull it together for the premiere of The Blind Side, which comes out this Friday. Look at her, she got it right! Good dress, good hair, maybe the earrings are a little too big, but I’ll accept them. Great shoes, and most importantly, Sandra’s not standing like a truck driver! Hurray!
The Blind Side is getting solid reviews, with many critics singling out Sandra’s portrayal of the very real Leigh Anne Tuohy, who adopted a homeless kid, who later became a star football player. Here’s Us Weekly’s review of the film:
Sandra Bullock shows a new sense of maturity and confidence in this uplifting heart-tugger that’s based on real events. She plays Leigh Anne Tuohy, a wealthy Memphis, Tennessee, interior decorator and mother of two who adopts a homeless high-schooler, Michael Oher (Quinton Aaron), when he enrolls at her kids’ parochial school.
Along with her supportive husband, Sean (a lovely — and unrecognizable! — Tim McGraw), she nurtures the gentle giant from the wrong side of town all the way to an Ole Miss football scholarship and the NFL.
Bullock’s churchloving, hardworking, cashmere-wearing heroine exemplifies the idea that charity begins at home — and the actress comes across as a real, passionate, take-noprisoners woman.
While the drama’s script is a little formulaic (yes, Oher helps his team win the big game and, yes, joining the Tuohy family helps him get his life together), its message still inspires.

Sandra has been out promoting the film for several weeks – many noted her funny interview in Parade, where Sandy noted that “I’m aware I can be annoying.” Sandra also sat down with Matt Lauer on The Today Show yesterday, and discussed football, mother/son stories, and how wig looks just like Kathie Lee Gifford’s “real” hair. Kathie actually made a great joke about that, when Sandra said “but that’s her real hair” Kathie quipped, “not really”. Here’s the interview:

Am I the only one who has a tremendous Girl-Crush on Sandra Bullock? I can’t be!
Love Sandy, she’s great.
lovely.
You are not alone!
there are “whispers” about how she could be nominated for an oscar. If so, I’m so glad for her! She’s a total comedian, but I hope that through this, she can show everybody that she’s got great acting chops too. Didn’t she get some kind of recognition for “crash” a few years back?
i LOVE LOVE LOVE Sandra… always have… always will. She’s such a wonderful, warm person.
Matt Lauer & Kathie Lee are so annoying though! The part where Matt was spewing adjectives at Sandra, just shut up and let the lady speak Matthew!! Kathie Lee, well I’m pretty sure she was drunk.
i’m glad she kept it simple… i hate that so-called “high fashion”
I adore her. I think she’s absolutely beautiful and I fell in love with her comedic acting in Miss Congeniality.
I won’t be seeing this one though. Inspirational though it may be, the “white person saves the poor black person/people” story is wearing thin.
Love, love, love Sandra!
I would so love to have Sandra as a neighbour – she’d be a riot yap over the fence with. Shes fabulous!
Can’t wait to see this movie – saw the previews and cried!
Ha ha ha!! That was a hilarious interview!
I’m usually not excited about the “Feel Good Movie of the Year” types, but I really want to see this one!
I don’t have a big crush on her, but I love all the actresses that come in act, promote, then take off back to thier lives. I think she’s a fantastic actress, always chooses parts that are perfect for her.
LOVE Sandra Bullock!!!!
i agree!
saw a commercial for the kid, her kid in the movie, he lost 100 lbs. in 12 weeks before shooting.
I hope he gets some attention. That is a huge commitment!! I hope he keeps working at it and I hope he gets some praise for it. Good luck kid!
She’s always been kind of hit or miss for me, but I really like her lately. She seems to have good values and stayed grounded, and doesn’t seem to take herself or what she does too seriously.
The film looks good, based on a true story and very uplifting. I hope it does well.
Who doesn’t like Sandra! She’s been through the ringer a few times like everyone else and she chooses not to belly ache about it. She appears to keep things in perspective, not allow for a whole lot of wiggle room or jump to justification like so many, many others do.
I have a relative in Austin and would love it if I happened to drop into her sisters cafe(?), on Sweetwater I think, and see Sandra there as well. It’s a fantasy of mine.
Girl next store. She always seems true to herself and genuine. I like that she waited so long to get married until she knew who she really was.
I love her. She’s as smart as she is beautiful.
You really make it appear so easy with your presentation but I find this matter to be really something that I believe I might by no means understand. It seems too complicated and extremely extensive for me. I’m having a look forward in your next put up, I will attempt to get the grasp of it!
