Happy T-day everyone! Re: the Buzzfeed article. This American doesn’t understand the point, either. Yeah, yeah, know the history, but how it’s evolved to what it is today? Don’t get it. Not participating this year. Walking down to the beach to watch the waves & the people.

I’ve started just wishing people a restful holiday weekend. It’s super low key in my family. But I don’t want to lose a four day weekend with zero expectations of checking in on work. Can we just rebrand it as a mental health holiday? (I know, it’s really not of you’re battling holiday travel insanity to be with nutcase family. Hugs to you warriors!)

I personally hate the way it is, I hate all the weird crowds and traffic (where do all the people come from?? Do that many people NOT leave the house on every other day???), and I wish it had been established as a summer holiday. I have fantasies of alternate thanksgivings that are more like July 4th or Memorial Day BBQs and seems like that would have been so much nicer

Happy Thanksgiving to Kaiser, CB, Kismet, Rosie — and to everyone here.

I read a somewhat different definition of Thanksgiving somewhere, that it was to celebrate the fact that illegal immigrants had safely made it to the shores of a previously unknown place, bring death and destruction with them, forcing everyone to do things their way now…

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. People are asking what it’s about? For us, it’s about family and food, the recipes passed down, the dishes people choose to make, and the favorite and not-so-favorite things to eat! Let’s have one day of peace and love. We can fight again tomorrow.
