All year, it’s felt like Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan were doomed. They got together so quickly this time last year, and they’ve been “inseparable” for most of 2024. Inseparable except for when it seemed like they broke up in August, only to immediately get back together. Reportedly, Barry ghosted his baby-mama and his son for months before finally reconnecting with them in, like, August or September. Anyway, now it looks like Sabrina and Barry are officially over. People Magazine has the exclusive:
Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan have gone their separate ways. A source confirms to PEOPLE that the pair have ended their romantic relationship for now, about a year after they began dating.
“They are both young and career-focused, so they’ve decided to take a break,” says the insider of Keoghan, 32, and Carpenter, 25.
Reps for both stars did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s requests for comment on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
Keoghan and Carpenter first sparked romance rumors as they were spotted grabbing dinner together in Los Angeles in early December 2023. The Oscar-nominated actor and the “Espresso” hitmaker first crossed paths during Paris Fashion Week when they both attended a Givenchy show the previous September. They have since been spotted supporting one another in various pursuits and on social media, with Keoghan regularly leaving sweet comments on Carpenter’s Instagram posts. The Saltburn star was also in the crowd during his then-girlfriend’s Coachella appearance this past April, and even starred in her “Please Please Please” music video in June.
They just burned out. I even believe it was mostly about their careers. Sabrina really broke through this year, and Barry has been breaking through in a huge way in the past three years or so. Plus, the other stuff hasn’t helped – Barry’s situation with his baby’s mother and his now two-year-old son. Sabrina’s hot-girl shtick must be grating too.
This is going viral – a completely unconfirmed report that Barry was canoodling and more with a “blonde, semi-famous, LA-based influencer” at the San Vicente Bungalows. I believe this too, although I also believe that Barry and Sabrina have been falling apart for months already.

Seemed like a PR setup to me. They had zero chemistry in any pic or video I saw of them together.
Disagree. Sabrina only became A-list this year. When they got together she added nothing to his profile as a very serious mega talented actor. He also allowed himself to be in her video which showcased their physical chemistry a lot.
To me too. I think Sabrina is really talented and deserved more attention before but the sad fact is that most newish artists need to have something to feed the papers and public to get the attention. The way Olivia basically launched her career off of relationship drama with Sabrina and the other guy was probably an easy roadmap. There were a few papwalks with Shawn Mendez and a supposed relationship that could be a triangle with Camila on the side as well and then this. Both got attention out of it but idk if he wanted out early.
There’s good trouble then there is talented trouble. I think he may be the latter.

I agree. The default excuse for any and everything these days is PR. Publicists issue statements and provide spin when needed but they’re not orchestrating every aspect of a client’s personal life. More often than not it’s the public who create entire scenarios based on a picture or a ‘sighting’ and not PR.

I was a complete skeptic at first, but I downloaded her album, and was surprised how much I like pretty much every song. I think she has a funny sense of humor, and I think her lyrics are really witty and surprisingly insightful at times.

She’s young still. He’s not old, but I think of him as crossing over into official maturity now that he’s 32 haha. My comment t is meaningless, but I always do a double take when couples who are not both 21 are called young. I think of Millie Bobby Brown and her husband as a young couple.

I obviously don’t know either of them and don’t have the first clue about their relationship, but I’ve worked in the entertainment industry for a long time, and being poly really does seem to increasingly be the norm, especially amongst younger artists. Obviously even poly relationships have rules, but it’s weird to me how much society presumes monogamy as standard, because it’s very much not standard in the entertainment industry. Every case that I’ve personally had a connection to where the media have blown something into a cheating scandal, it’s been a poly situation (including two situations where the young woman papped ‘canoodling’ with the married man in question was actually dating both the husband and the wife).

I’ve been following Sabrina even before she became well known in the mainstream this year. My gen z niece and I loved her album last year- which not too many people knew about(but I thought that album is better than this years-although Short and Sweet is good too). I first saw their photos when she attended one of his film screenings last year – they both got together even before they got bigger(and they’ve kept it low key). I don’t think their relationship was PR. But yeah once they got bigger, seems things changed. She’s also pretty young and he’s a dad, I didn’t think it was going to be long term. But in one of the photos a week or so ago in LA, she looked sad and upset, so that was a bit telling(I had a feeling then they prob already broke up). I was actually rooting for them esp in the earlier years before they both got bigger, they looked like a great couple and she seemed happy.
