If you haven’t secured your ticket yet for Katy Perry’s Lifetimes tour, good news! There are still plenty available! Like, a lot available. As in, stadiums are only a third or half full. The tour kicked off in Mexico last week, and will be in the US by May 7. Those (however few) who caught the first shows helpfully took video to post online, which has resulted in Katy’s choreography being resoundingly mocked. I don’t think that’s gonna help the ticket sales. (FWIW, Katy has since claimed to have a “flu-cold thing.”) Gosh, I know her latest album, 143, was poorly received on the merits of the music, but you don’t think a lot of the backlash in ticket sales has anything to do with Katy associating with a credibly accused abuser/rapist and a dictator kiss-ass, do you?
When perusing Ticketmaster seat maps for Perry’s “Lifetimes” tour, which kicked off this week in Mexico City and will come to the US in just a few weeks, it’s clear that folks are not vibing with the “I Kissed A Girl” songstress and her recent space shenanigans on Jeff Bezos’ New Shepard rocket.
In Houston, the first American stop of the artist’s North America-spanning tour that will meander through these United States starting May 7, more than half of the city’s Toyota Center amphitheater is still lit up blue on the scammy website’s seating map — a sign that many of those spots have not been bought. With the cheapest tickets going for $97, it’s not hard to see why.
In Minneapolis, it’s even worse: only one third of the 20,000 seats at the Twin Cities’ Target Center have been filled — and those are even cheaper at $75 a pop with fees included.
To be fair, Perry was already struggling to sell tickets for the tour supporting her seventh studio album “143,” before rocketing off with Bezos’ paramour Lauren Sánchez, CBS host Gayle King, and three other accomplished women on the world’s first all-girl private spaceflight earlier this month.
…In an interview with the Daily Mail, an unnamed insider claimed that things are as tumultuous behind the scenes of the “Lifetimes” tour as they appear in public.
“There were already concerns about poor ticket sales even before Blue Origin,” the source told the tabloid, referencing Perry’s spaceflight. “They were pretty dismal. Katy truly believed her tour would take off like Taylor [Swift’s ‘Eras’ tour].”
According to that same insider, “higher-ups” at Live Nation, which is owned by Ticketmaster in an alleged monopoly, were always skeptical that Perry could sell out stadiums — and there are now “talks about what to do if the venues don’t fill up further.”
“Katy truly believed her tour would take off like Taylor [Swift’s ‘Eras’ tour].” Why, because “eras” and “lifetimes” are synonyms? And LOL to Futurism for saying, “To be fair, Perry was already struggling to sell tickets” before the space flight. Excellent shade. But to be fair (once again) to Katy, people not buying tix out of political/cultural protest doesn’t necessarily mean the show itself is bad. I mean, it is bad, at least according to the dozens who’ve attended the first shows in Mexico who report it’s no bueno. Vulture has a review that sets the stage well, and I have to excerpt their coverage of a dance moment that’s gone viral:
Toward the end of the show, during a dance break in “Part of Me” set to Tommie Sunshine’s “The Power,” Perry dances a jerky cheerleader routine that involves her violently rocking a baby, shaking her butt, and being lifted about a foot off the ground by two dancers. Then, she falls in a death drop and stays on the ground with one leg in the sky for 15 seconds, before finally getting up and continuing to sing “Part of Me.” The section was trounced online, with one person scoring over 1,000 likes on X for simply saying, “Somebody please explain what’s going on.” What’s going on is the Lifetimes Tour.
You know what? I take back every negative thing I’ve said about Katy recently, because this dance interlude is giving me LIFE and everything I didn’t know I needed right now! The one element Vulture doesn’t capture is Katy’s eyes throughout this one minute of absolutely bonkers yet surprisingly low-energy choreography. Her eyes are insane! It’s like they’re being held wide open by invisible hands! And this clip on TikTok has a particularly well-situated angle to capture Katy’s crotch during the 15 seconds she’s in death drop with her leg in the air. My favorite comments to the video so far are: “She gave us something worse than nothing… She took.” and “maybe she should’ve gone to rehearsals instead of space 🤷♀️.” Katy Perry, bringing the world together.
katy really needs to fire whoever’s her choreographer omg… 😭😭😭 props and all were cute but the dancing… 💔💔💔💔💔

Perry never had the ride or die fans like the Swifties so I don’t understand why they thought her tour would be on par to Eras.
As a singer, she’s ok with some catchy hits. As a human being, she’s a narcissist to the max after her space tourist shenanigans. She should really stick to singing because she tends to fail outside her strength.
Can she sing though? Every clip I’ve seen of her in concert suggests otherwise. She sounds a lot different live than on her tracks…
Heh. She and Lopez have the same problem—being so obsessed with image-management, they let that swamp their talent.
Except jlo always puts in the work. This kp tour looks like she just found out about it and showed up.
KP looked really tired. Really, really tired. Maybe she’s still got space-lag.
I enjoyed the show Katy put on for Invictus Games 2025 Opening Ceremony in Canada that I saw on ESPN. It was nice to see her using 80 dancers hired locally from BC area – enjoyed the goofy costumes.
Have tried to watch Taylor’s Eras tour movie on Disney+ multiple times, but it’s just too easy to get up and walk away. I like some of her songs. Maybe I’ll finish watching it someday.
Omg, who did her so dirty approving that choreography?! Looooool!
She’s a pro, surely it can’t be THAT bad I thought to myself.
Oh yes it can!
Good grief who signed that off??
The clip I watched wouldn’t have won a middle school talent show. She’s just lazy. She couldn’t be bothered to get in shape and practice dance routines so the choreography reflects what she we was willing/able to do. Taylor wasn’t much of a dancer but she improved a lot, had great choreography with talented dancers and put on an unforgettable show. I wouldn’t be surprised if they start cancelling shows on her tour.
The visual side of her music took an over the top turn at one point, and she’s like a character now, with weird costumes etc. Im sure the show choreographies are unserious and funny, but out of context it looks pretty amateur lol for sure Katy Perry doesnt have the shine she used to have with all that happened and the recent space ride probably didnt do any good either.
I doubt politics or the flight has anything to do with ticket sales. Katy hasn’t been a factor in music for years. Her last 2 or 3 albums haven’t done anything so I’m baffled why she and her team thought she could do stadiums and large arenas.
Yeah that’s really the issue here. I don’t think any of her albums have sold well since Prism. I think that they have actually performed commercially worse with each significant album since then. A few songs here and there that breaks through but nothing like 2008 to 2014.
I don’t know if it’s ego or if it’s poor planning by her management team but she just needs to downgrade the type of tour she’s doing. She won’t be the first pop star to do that and definitely won’t be the last. Instead of trying to sell out these arenas she needs to just focus on the smaller venues that have a max of maybe 8 to 10K. She may not sell them out either but she’d sell enough that it wouldn’t be so obvious.
She should just retire to a Vegas residency. Less humiliating.
People are also still upset with her working with dr. Luke. Her last album sales weren’t great
The space ride was supposed to kick things up, but it did the opposite. Public opinion is so negative about it It’s gonna kill her tour.
This exactly. She hasn’t had a hit in ages, her schtick is tired, she’s not an incredibly talented performer worth paying to see live, and she’s not the most likable person either. Whoever thought a stadium tour was a good idea was very, very wrong. Arenas and theaters, maybe, stadiums, no.
I predict some excuse that will give her a reason to cancel, like JLo did when she didn’t sell enough tickets.
And the post is underselling just how much she’s struggling. The two venues listed in the blurb are sub 20k-seat basketball arenas, not football stadia like where Taylor Swift and Beyonce have been staging their tours.
Just my personal opinion, but I think she and her people were counting on the “edge of space” stunt to rake in more accolades than it did. They we’re probably counting on the renewed interest (that didn’t happen) in KP to push ticket sales.
J Wms—yep. They thought going fascist-adjacent would kick her celebrity back up. Nope.
She’s the female version of Justin Timberlake – over and out!
Yup, agreed. The failure of Katy Perry’s Witness album in 2017 was a huge point of discussion in the pop world, as well as her mental health issues and her inability to properly clap back at Taylor Swift (her diss track in response to Bad Blood was pretty weak). Then her Smile album from 2020 came and went without anyone blinking.
However, with her gigs in Vegas and on American Idol, as well as several songs from the Teenage Dream album trending again on TikTok last year, I think her management team thought people would start to get nostalgic for her again. But if there was any possibility of that happening, it was killed when she worked with Dr. Luke and dropped that horrid Woman’s World song. And now with how this tour is getting mocked and her participation on the Blue Origin flight being seen as tone deaf, she is in the position JLo was in last year where she’s the favorite famous woman/pop star to dunk on all over social media. I don’t there is any salvaging this moment and she may have to go away from awhile and consider a comeback in a few years when people are nostalgic for the late 00s/early 10s. Even then, it feels like it has been harder than ever for female popstars not named Beyonce, Gaga, or Taylor Swift to be 35+ and be part of the zeitgeist, so even then, I am not sure she there is a lane left for her anymore.
I don’t like those weird ear bangs on the sides of her forehead bangs. It’s a look.
I would almost feel bad for her but she does these things to herself
@manda, after the terrible choreography, that was my next question – does her hairstylist hate her? Because those bangs/layers are not doing her any favours.
😂😂😂😂😂 low energy is one way to describe it phoning it in is another. People paid to see this. They deserved their money back. Of course she could complain that her body was different after going to space. Astronauts who go up for months come back and their bodies have changed but she can’t really use that excuse because she was there for 10 minutes lol.
In her case it’s less the space, and more the Ozempic.
I don’t know who’s more deluded Katy Perry or JLo.
Also maybe bc Katy Perry no longer looks like Katy Perry?
The choreography almost it so bad it seems done on purpose for humor…..yet I know it was n t…..
@Barrett, it’s “satire”…didn’t you know…lol
when an artist makes a big deal of coming to Mexico/starting their tour in Mexico/does promotion in Mexico…that stardom and relevance ship has sailed for them(because when they’re hot, Mexican promotors practically have to beg them to come to our country)
I do think Taylor has set the bar for extremely prepared artist + perfectly produced concert. Also Lady Gaga. It would be hard to touch that and I’m sure that is hard.
I don’t really like Katy Perry or her music though; but these videos are unfortunate. She does not look engaged or prepared and the choreography is weird.
I will say she did look like she was under the weather. Even still she did not look as prepared with the choreography, even looking confused. The timing was off at parts which made it look like kids playing Marvel wars. We are used to Taylor Swift that is so well rehearsed that we hardly notice that she is emotionally distraught or tired or otherwise compromised. She made a 3 hour concert over 2 years look effortless. A high bar for anyone putting on concerts but Katy seems to think she can just show up and not put in all that work, which tracks with what appears to be her personality flaws.
I watched Gaga’s Coachella performance right after watching the Katy clips and told my partner that if I were Katy, I’d take those Coachella performances as a personal attack. Gaga is everything KP isn’t at this point.
Seeing Gaga do such an amazing job so recently definitely makes Katy look worse here. The differences in the amount of investment in their craft is so obvious.
Gaga is genuinely a hard worker, she’s a fan of music, she really cares about putting on a good show. Katy likes being a celebrity. You know she’s not working on her singing or breath in the weeks leading up touring, unlike Gaga or Taylor or Beyoncé.
That’s the kind of choreography that choreographers give to people who can’t and won’t ever be able to dance.
I must disagree only because i’ve seen Mariah Carey “dance” better than that, and Mariah Carey does not dance, at all. She just stands and moves her arms as the dancers dance around her.
I think she borrowed those moves from the Australian Olympic break dancer. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
And the eyes – those are the eyes of a person who has no idea what she’s doing. Like an understudy shoved on stage the last minute with no rehearsal – “Don’t worry about it, just wave your arms and shake your ass, it’ll be fine. Now go!!”
I was on Wednesday, her opening night…and tbh is not a bad show, granted the “theme” of the futuristic video game to save “butterflies” was cringey also she trying to make “Lifetimes” work when we had over 2 years of hearing “eras”. I feel like if you separate Katy Perry “the artist” from Katy Perry “human choices” the show was pretty good, I don’t understand why people keep critiquing her dancing skills when she’s never been known to have — dancing skills lol. Overall I appreciated Katy’s engagement with her audience all the way in the show, addressing the audience in Spanish in several bits and even stopped singing to be able to hear what the audience was chanting to get her attention. I hate when people are quick to hate just to hate, specially because people enjoy hating women so easily. I don’t approve Katy’s support to Kesha’s perpetrator and that’s reflected in the fact that I didn’t know one song from her new album lol but I’m not going to hate all her body of work just because of that specially since I don’t know nor understand why she made that choice.
Good morning, Katie!
LOL at the blatant PR rep post! 🤣
It’s definitely her pr agent
Lots of women entertainers can’t really dance. Madonna was not a great dancer. Most pop stars aren’t necessarily great dancers, but they are great performers. Katie looked like the kid at the middle school recital who never practiced at home, got on stage, forgot the choreography, and was trying to improvise on the spot while getting more and more embarrassed because she can see her crush cringing in the front row of the auditorium. Frankly, it was amateurish and listless–she wasn’t even phoning it in. People paid money to see something that either looked like a Saturday Night Live parody, or like Ms Lesley’s choreography at the Dolly Dinkle Dance Studio for her nine year old class’s recital.
Madonna started as a dancer. She could dance. She wasn’t much of a singer when she started recording although she did improve
Yeah, Madonna was a dancer! She went to university for dance! She was astonishing! (Note the use of past tense.)
I’m getting the same vibe as that Australian break dancer.
She’s not even on the beat. This is dance music and she doesn’t even seem to be aware that there is a beat. All I can see are the future drag parodies.
And she started in Christian music. She actually can sing. If she were at all smart, she’d be doing smaller venues and leaning into that.
Not within a second of a beat. What was happening?
Beat and rhythm are clearly foreign concepts to her. Like astrophysics.
I think she is getting the same reality check as Jennifer Lopez and Justin Timberlake. You spend 10 years or so outside of your music career. Chasing other ventures.
Your fans move on and spend their money on other artists. Especially now with the economy teetering on a recession. The last thing I am going to do is waste my money on a Katy Perry concert. who hasn’t been musically relevant since at least 2013.
Or maybe she needs to bring Left Shark back…
But instead of scaling down to smaller theaters. That would be bad optics. So they keep going to 1/2 empty stadiums. Which to me is worse, but don’t tell them that.
Katy is worth about 400 million. She should sell the convent if she needs some cash. And just live her life. Maybe her ego needs the validation again. But her bank accounts are just fine.
before social media, Katy would have been praised for her first two albums and then quietly faded into the distance like so many other mediocre pop stars.
hilarious that she thought it would be like the Eras tour when her last few albums have flopped, while Taylor’s have done the opposite. I don’t know a single person that is interested in seeing her on tour.
Had to shut my office door since I started screaming with laughter. WTF girl! Anyway.
I mean the cringe factor started just with the name of the tour alone. Lifetimes sounds like a ripoff of Eras. Whether it is or isn’t, that’s what it sounds like. And a copy of what TS did is a really, really bad choice considering the record-breaking success of the Eras tour. How did no one see that the comparison was gonna happen and it was always going to be brutal? Or maybe someone did say something and KP was like, nah, we’re going with it.
“She gave us something worse than nothing…she took” 💀💀💀💀
That dance clip is SO bad.
If someone told me this was Kristen Wiig or Rachel Dratch doing a parody of a performance, I would have totally believed them.
The choreography is lame and her performance is so clunky, like she’s just executing one move, then stopping and rushing to position and trying to do the next one. No energy, artistry or flow, and her upper both is incredibly stiff throughout. However much rehearsal time she put in, she needed a LOT more.
She looks high to me. Not that I know so very much, or anything, really, about altered states, but she looks especially vacant.
Yep, came here to say the same. She looks high. Years and years of gossip about her drug use.
Yea, I remember Zoey Deschanel complaining about it when people said they used to look alike, that it could stop her from getting jobs because people thought they had seen her out and about doing drugs when it was Katy Perry
…I do know about altered states, and yeah, she looks high
It wouldn’t surprise me. One of the big reasons her marriage to Russell Brand failed was that she was partying pretty hard while he was trying to maintain his sobriety. She’s lost a lot of weight lately, supposedly taking Ozempic (which she denies…hmmmm). Wonder if she’s throwing in some amphetamines too?
I just can’t figure out what any of that is supposed to be.
Never really understood why she was a “thing”. I’ve always found everything about her underwhelming at best.
She can´t claim ‘taylor’s success without putting in the effort and hustle, Taylor has been releasing critically and audience acclaimed albums for the past ten years nonstop ,and showing her evolution as a musician and a person, yet maintaining her unique brand sense. Eras was just the triumph summary of certified bangers that ppl were still listening to. Both JLo and Kathy made the mistake of thinking being in tabloids or having a following on SM bought audiences for their music. Reactions don´t equal tickets expenditure.
Losing sight of your talent doesn’t help, either.
With all of the economic uncertainty and tickets prices going through the roof people are being very choosy about who they see live these days. They are always going to choose to see someone better.
The costumes in these photos are cringe.
My toddler’s really into Danny Go, which is a preschool workout channel with silly dance moves. His choreography for 3 year olds is more advanced than this. I don’t think a human choreographed this. I think it’s first generation Chatgpt.
It starts with : a couple of 8 counts of Jane Fonda’s workout circa 1983, then moves to the Reebok, circa 1986, then Baby Shark (Daddy Shark), then Miley 2013-era attempted twerking, and then ending with drunk girl who’s been on the dance floor for too long, is worn out, yet her head is spinning too much for her to contemplate sitting down. Then Drunk Girl gets the idea to try a Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders jump split, but goes splat on the floor instead with her legs askew in the air. The designated driver is embarrassed for her, and contemplates whether or not to drag her off the dance floor, or leave her messy ass where she is. Drunk girl is likely to puke, and designated driver doesn’t want to have to clean out her car. Again.
Okay, I’m laughing bc my nieces and nephews have been very into Danny Go. It’s wild how into it they are whereas I’m like okaaaay? But they Love. And I’ve come to appreciate the fact that dannygo tapped into something kids like. Electro music, repetition, stuffed bear people and lava? As for Katy, I don’t wish her ill will but its hard when she went back to that Luke guy. That was a v bad choice.
Bear head for the win! Apparently they are a group of friends who created the idea. I’ll bet they never got around to coming up with a name for the guy wearing the bear head and just said, eh, Bearhead works! I love how hard Danny Go commits to his shtick without the creepy ick factor of Blippi. He seems like he’s having a good time. I hate Blippi.
Maybe she should have leaned into some of the criticism instead of whining. Do the moonwalk during her concerts and sing “I kissed the ground.”
Come on, you guys! She’s still recovering from the effects of space travel! 😂
She’s shuttle- lagged, poor thing.
People have really went all out to bash that all-female flight. When William shattner did it I didn’t see this much hate. I believe all the nasa space stuff is a waste and a money laundering scam. However, why not an all female space crew.
I wanted to see a Katie Perry concert for years. Back when she first started the stunts. If nothing else comes up I will use the low ticket sales as a way to go see the spectacle from a comfy seat. I hate my cities stadium so I may travel and make a vacation out of it. I know the time to do that was during the cupcake pastry era but …. I missed it.
That wasn’t NASA, that was Jeff Bezos’ company. The difference is crucial. The current regime is trying to gut ALL federal agencies, NASA included, and privatize them. NASA does good work that will benefit us all, Bezos benefits Bezos.
I agree. It looked weird to me also how this one flight got so much hate, but the one Bezos himself did with a bunch of men didn’t. It might also be, that was when Bezos didn’t put his full support behind Trump, so people didn’t have a need to show their annoyance too much.
They weren’t a “crew”, they were tourists on a very expensive ride. Bezos is selling commercial space travel.
The video with lightsaber gives me new respect for Pink’s choreography. I mean, I knew it was great, but now that I see how bad it can get I am even more blown away. Sadly I totally missed her tour and hope I get to see her play someday.
Lol that dance clip was going viral on Threads over the weekend! People were theorizing that that song/dance number probably had more of a space theme and when the Blue Origin flight was derided, she dialed it back last minute and came up with whatever those dance moves were supposed to be. I think they might be on to something because that whole act is very futuristic/space looking. Also calling the whole tour “Lifetimes” after Taylor’s wildly successful Eras tour is just so cringe?
It really gives new context to the whole silly Katy/Taylor feud from years ago.
Death drop? More like a heavy nap/light coma drop.
Looks like Raygun is major influence choreographer
Not only does she need to fire her choreographer…she needs to fire herself!
Girl sit down!! Cringefest.
If you have to compete with the recent success of Taylor’s blockbuster Eras Tour PLUS Beyonce and Gaga going out on tour again this year, you gotta do better than this!
I think KP has done a Vegas residency that was pretty well – received, didn’t she? She’s never been my thing, but I thought her Superbowl performance with all of the elaborate costumes and props was fun. However, it may be that the kinds of venues where you can do that kind of dramatic show are not going to be profitable unless they sell out.
What in the double-light saber, fighting beetle-man is going on? And why is it in slow motion?
The music icon Prince disliked her music. That’s quite a burn coming from rock royalty.
Maybe Prince knew a gimmick when he saw one. The space flight only confirmed her love of a gimmick!
A real shit show
I just realized I haven’t liked Katy Perry from the get-go when she queer-baited with her first single.
same same same
Saw one of her last shows in Vegas for something to do…. My husband fell asleep it was so boring…. She was lazy and hardly sang.. mostly yapped but she definitely did now want to be performing
the only way to save face now is to have her PR team say it was meant to be bad, it just went over everyone’s heads.
Her hits aren’t anything I’d want to pay to hear live, because they lack depth and she doesn’t do anything edgy or unusual with them. Taylor has changed routines and themes routinely, often a hallmark of long-term success in that industry.
That said, I think many of the superficial artists and entrepreneurs are having a reckoning – with low disposable income and high stress worldwide, they can’t compel their typical consumers to shell out and there is zero patience for their missteps. Do I think she thought the space flight would promote her tour? Yes. Do I think she read the room enough to understand buddying up to Lauren Sanchez wouldn’t drive people to buy tickets? No. I think it would have been a flop either way, but now you’re losing the last-minute “why not it’s fairly cheap” crowd, too.
People are feeling helpless and scared. If I were an entertainer, I would reflect on my role in the broader context and either use my platform for good or step aside for those who are.
On a bright note, this is proof positive that I DO have a shot at my dream career – backup dancer to A- list singers on tour – before my 59th birthday next year. Who says miracles don’t happen?
Eat. The. Rich.
Politically, Katy Perry supported Hillary Cinton, Biden and Kamal Harris. The issue she’s running into is that the Dr Luke and Bezos collabs are not in line with how she votes; her lips and actions aren’t in sync…
And neither are her dance moves! Omg, this is probably painful for her, but it’s so funny to watch–it looks like a parody.
