Holy crap! It looks like Mel Gibson and Oksana really did split!!! The Enquirer got it right! Both Us Weekly and People Magazine are reporting it now. Us Weekly’s sources claim that Oksana and Mel broke up “months ago” and that “it’s all very friendly”. Meanwhile, People’s sources claim that “they just drifted apart.” They were last photographed together on March 4, at an event for the Hollywood Reporter.

Mel Gibson and Oksana Grigorieva, his Russian musician-singer girlfriend and mother of their 5-month-old daughter, have split after over a year of dating, a source tells PEOPLE.
“They just drifted apart,” says a close friend of the couple of the amicable split. “They’re both working hard on their careers and trying to raise a sweet baby together. They’re still friends and they’ll both raise Lucia together.”
Gibson is in Mexico filming How I Spent My Summer Vacation, and Grigorieva is working on her music. Next week, she has plans to perform a charity concert in Russia to benefit “Grant Life,” a foundation to help children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.
In addition to Lucia, who was born on October 30, 2009, Gibson, 54, has seven children (six sons and a daughter) with his estranged wife Robyn, while Grigorieva has a son, Alexander, with her former boyfriend, actor Timothy Dalton.
In April of last year, the actor’s wife of 30 years filed for divorce. Later that month, he and Grigorieva made their first public appearance together as a couple.
Gibson’s rep had no comment.

“No one dumped anyone,” the source says. “It’s all very friendly.”
Gibson and Grigorieva, a Russian musician, are parents to a 5-month-old daughter, Lucia. The source does not believe there will be a custody battle. Last August, Grigorieva said she didn’t know if she’d wed Gibson.
“We haven’t really talked about it,” she told CNN.
Gibson filed for divorce from his wife of 28 years, Robyn, last April. They are parents to seven children. The couple were worth $900 million and it was believed to be the most expensive divorce settlement in Hollywood history.

This breakup doesn’t surprise me at all. Oksana was the rebound relationship for Mel after his wife “dumped” him. After Oksana “accidentally” became pregnant and triggered the divorce, Mel must have felt obligated to stay with her until the birth for the sake of their child. But it was never going to work out long term. He must have gotten a lot of grief from his family about Oksana. There are probably several reasons for the breakup, but I think a major reason for the split is that Mel wants to regularize his standing as a Catholic. He cannot do that if he is openly committing adultery.
The NE had a genuine lead on this breakup, but that doesn’t exonerate the rest of their shoddy reporting about Mel and Oksana. And if it’s true that they broke up MONTHS ago as US Weekly reports, then the NE isn’t working with a very close source.
To recap:
*The NE reported in fall 2008 that Robyn decided not to divorce Mel but only to kick him out of the bedroom. But according to divorce papers they separated 2 years earlier.
*When the NE reporter first wrote that Mel’s gf was named Oksana, they reported that she was 28 years old. She was actually 38 or 39 at the time.
*The NE reported that Mel’s father Hutton annulled Mel’s marriage and that a wedding to Oksana was planned for Christmas. There was no wedding and Hutton has denied the annulment story, quote:

If this is true, it’s not surprising. Oksana was doomed from the very beginning. Her calculated, unplanned pregnancy caused Mel and his family a great deal of pain and embarrassment. More than likely, she got tired of “the cold shoulder” that everyone was giving her and decided to throw in the towel. It wouldn’t surprise me if Mel had her on a very short leash cash wise and she decided that she was much better off receiving child support payments, instead. Essentially, all she wanted was a long-term “meal ticket” and realized that she could not manipulate Mel into marrying her under any circumstances. She probably settled for far less than she hoped for in the beginning.
Typically those relationships (one that a spouse cheated on the other with) don’t last.

Regarding the NE, how interesting that once they broke the breakup news every other media outlet jumped on board. I have to laugh at “People,” because a couple of weeks ago they ran an article, obviously generated by Mel’s publicist, about how wonderful his “new life” was. The official breakup announcement printed above is typical PR spin…if they split “several months ago,” why were they photographed together March 4th? And we all know they didn’t date for a year, nor did they “grow apart,” as they weren’t ever a “real couple” anyway. I can’t wait to read next week’s NE to see if they uncover more dirt!
I have to say I think they were planning a life together, even marriage but things went south maybe for reasons cited in NE and reasons that we’ll never exactly know.
Since his church is not regulated at all, Gibson might have wangled an annulment somehow and justified it in his mind. But Gibson has seemed unstable lately and the clashes that might have been expected to emerge a year down the road emerged sooner. Not the least of which is he’s a known womanizer. A potentially humiliating situation.

I cannot agree with that susieqinBA. Mel seems to love his baby a great deal. That’s the key to understanding why Mel went public with Oksana after Robyn filed. If Oksana wasn’t pregnant, I think Mel would have dumped her quietly after his wife threatened divorce.

I agree with Cathy T to some extent. I don’t believe that Mel Gibson harbors any indifference or “ill will” towards Lucia. It was “her mother” that he had problems with.
I don’t believe that he had any intentions of leaving his wife for Oksana in the first place. If Oksana would have kept her pregnancy quiet then he could have dealt with this matter privately; however, she wanted Robyn to know because she knew the woman was fed up and hoped she would “kick Mel to the curb”. Oksana got her wish and Mel Gibson had no other choice except “to play the hand he was dealt”. In the course of doing so, he discovered things about Oksana that simply didn’t set well with him nor was she “a bankable performer”. When your head is in “the lion’s mouth, you have to ease it out slowly — not yank it out because you just may lose it”. Oksana was “a lemon he was trying to turn into lemonade” but no amount of money could supply the talent this woman lacked. The man simply had “to cut his losses and move on”!

Yeah, I was shocked when I heard that the National Enquirer was in the running for a Pulitzer.
However, I’m not shocked over the break-up; it was probably planned from the beginning. This way she doesn’t have to put up with Mel, but still gets a good chunk of his money. And when she found out that she wasn’t going to get a huge payout like Robyn (because he wouldn’t marry her or had an iron-clad prenup or something,) it didn’t give her much incentive to stay.

He certainly did have a choice and he chose to be with his girlfriend. He’s long suspected of having at least one other oow child, which he refuses to verify. @Blitz…Clearly Mel was unhappy in his marriage, but I don’t think he wanted the divorce or the breakup of his family. He was photographed looking pretty miserable after Robyn filed. He looked unhappy since his DUI, but he really looked troubled after the divorce. I think that his relationship with Oksana was a crutch for serious depression in 2008/9 and that Mel never had any long term intentions. The pregnancy threw him for a loop and necessitated introducing Oksana to the world and keeping her happy until the baby was safely delivered. But even with the baby, they never lived together and Mel always downplayed the marriage question. Those music videos? Foolishly keeping the mistress happy.

The public is not entitled to know everything about anyone’s life. We all have a right to maintain our privacy regardless of how “public” our lives may become. If there are others, why should they subject themselves or their children to the overwhelming public negativity and scrutiny that Oksana was willing to endure. When children are involved, you have to think about what’s best for them. If others do exist, these women were a hell of a lot more smarter. Regardless of how much I may dislike a person, I would never abuse their children. They had no control over how they got here.

@Cathy T. I won’t argue MG isn’t a happy man. He looked especially unhappy after his DUI. But it’s hard to say if he was unhappy because the papers were filed or because of the rush of publicity that followed. Personally I think he forced his wife’s hand to file but it doesn’t sound like it was much of a marriage anyway.
My other point was that the pregnancy didn’t force him to be as public as he was with his relationship. In fact if he really wanted out, it would have been better if kept quiet about it and let it dies down. He also didn’t have to keep his mistress happy with fancy vacations, a lot of time and money on mega-produced videos, traveling together, then walking arm and arm on the red carpet for the cameras. That’s not a mistress, that’s a girlfriend. I’m also in the camp who thinks the “other house” was mostly to avert bad press. To make them seem more distant than they were. To me they were obviously a couple.
@Sincerity: I wasn’t saying that people owe it to the public to discuss their parentage, not at all. But there’s at least one possible offspring that wants to be tested and has said so publicly. My point was that the baby wasn’t a factor in MG’s interest in this particular woman. But for all I know it may have been a factor in leaving. I’ve known cases where husbands left their wives of over a decade for relationships with no children. Though they visited the kids.

I do agree with your point. The baby was not his only interest in this woman. Mel Gibson seemed to be interested in expanding into the music business. Oksana seem to be more of a “business venture with benefits”. Before the pregnancy, he already tied up money in her music career. Oksana’s pregnancy and his divorce weren’t planned and forced him to delay the release of his latest movie. He prematurely launched her career because of these complications and wanted her to understand that it’s not easy to make it in the entertainment business when you’re engulfed in a scandal. This woman unnecessarily complicated his life and he wanted her “to feel the burn” so to say.
Regarding an outsider’s paternity claims, sometimes it’s best just to let things be. Under the circumstances, I can understand Mel Gibson’s hesitancy not to deal with this issue because it opens up another very nasty can of worms. Historically, African Americans are no strangers to such issues especially when prominent, high profile White men are involved. Several of our presidents owned slaves and fathered children with Black women; however, their White descendants have gone out of their way to deny their Black relatives even when DNA testing would prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt. If people want to claim you, they will and if not, you have to let it go for the sake of your own sanity. If you ever get a chance, read “Cane River” by Lalita Tademy and you’ll get the picture.
Well It was a matter of time, Go back to the Jay Leno show when Jay pushed about the Baby, Body language and his response gave it away. He was not happy about the situation.
Also he was never there for the Birth of the baby, How long was she in labor for.

My be there marriage was not perfect, no marriage is there is hard work on both sides to do BUT they did have feelings for each other, just go back and see some of the pics of them together. I have read several story’s on this and the source is a close person to Mel, A article from one of the reports stated She wanted marriage, and was angry and bitter at the close relationship between Mel And Robyn, even now they are on good terms and are there for the children. They are getting on better now.

I was struck with the speediness in which the breakup story was confirmed. The NE posted it on its web site Wednesday morning and within hours a carefully crafted announcement full of PR spin cliches was released. Contrast this with last year. Reports of Oksana’s pregnancy surfaced almost immediately in the NE and on line media outlets, yet Mel waited several weeks to confirm it, via “The Tonight Show.”
Also, comments concerning this latest development have been almost entirely focused on “Oksana the gold digger,” but I think the fame whore aspect of her character is equally important. I don’t think it’s just a coincidence that both her baby daddies are movie stars. Oksana clearly loves the celebrity lifstyle. Over the past year we’ve seen how she relishes riding Mel’s coat tail, sharing the spotlight, posing for red carpet photos and giving interviews about her make believe music career. As much as I’d like her to fade away and enjoy the millions Mel’s giving her, I don’think this will happen. Over the past few months Team Mel has been setting Oksana up as the next Heather Mills, a devoted charity worker. My guess is that’s part of whatever legal/financial agreement she and Mel have worked out.
@Tommy…I don’t know how you came up with your information. Yes, Robyn was pregnant when she and Mel married, but through thick and thin there has always been a deep bond between them. Their union would not have lasted 30 years and produced seven children if he didn’t love her and she him. Robyn is definitely not “cold and counting the money.” It’s her money too, as she and Mel started with nothing and as partners built a life together. Robyn has never been impressed with his fame and fortune, and I’m sure she’d trade all her, and her children’s, pain and suffering for all the millions she’s getting in the settlement.

You sound like Oksana or a very close friend of hers. At this point, Oksana should be “counting her blessings” that Mel Gibson did not ignore her claims or force her into a protracted legal battle to acknowledge Lucia. It takes a lot more than “sex” to keep a relationship alive. Intense passion is interesting but fleeting once the reality of day-to-day living sets in.
I have always observed that “understanding along with deep felt camaraderie” is what actually keeps a man and a woman together for the long haul. Mel and Robyn would not have been married for almost 30 years without it. If a man does not really love a woman, having a child certainly won’t keep him in a relationship. No marriage is perfect and they all don’t last but when a couple have been together a very long time, there are ties they can’t or don’t want to sever because of their shared history and children.
Oksana placed Mel Gibson “between a rock and a hard place” based upon a relationship without a sound foundation and it backfired. It may be difficult for her to accept but it’s “a blessing in disguise” because she no longer has “to pretend to be something she’s not in order to fit into his world”. Now she has the resources and freedom to build a persona that is more truly aligned with who she actually is rather than trying to become someone else’s illusion. We don’t really know much about Robyn but I think it’s safe to say it wasn’t a very happy marriage. I think this was a bit more than “every marriage has it’s problems”. She didn’t seem to be a shopaholic type to me but for all I know she has a large stash of vintage Harleys in some 1000 sq. ft. warehouse somewhere.
Did she stay because of the loot? Maybe. Who knows. If she stayed for love, I think it was misguided. The man’s an alcoholic and serial adulterer with a quick temper. I’ve yet to meet a woman who felt loved under these circumstances. Sounds like she was an enabler. A very unhealthy dynamic. At the very least the situation set a poor example for the children. It’s never good for kids to be around a hot head and a mother who just “takes it” and turns a blind eye for as long as she can. These characteristics didn’t emerge overnight. Obviously a lot stayed out of the press. But it usually does.
Since most “good friends” of celebs don’t spill about their close friends, the “soul-mates” business sounds like wishful thinking.
Given the loaded situation any number of things could of caused the recent split. I’ve said I think he meant to go the distance. But Mel doesn’t have a long attention span or stability.
I think the intended annulment is very plausible. Usually I ignore on line “insider info” (see above) but one disgusted person seemed to know not only about that but something else going on in the church that wasn’t reported anywhere. A parishioner/lurker at the chapel jumped in to defend it vigorously and knew about it in detail, which confirmed the posters allegations.
Mel and Robyn were married in a RC church, although the tribunal in Mel’s church might be tricky, Ted Kennedy was granted an annulment from Rome after a 24 year marriage with 80 kids. He claimed he’d lied when he said he’d be faithful. Rich people seem to know their way around the system.
Even if that’s true, Mel is erratic and it’s possible he changed his mind. I’m sure there was outside pressure not to marry given his fortune and her background. Nothing can be gleaned from their restraint in talking about marriage plans publicly, since even THEY had to know it would be grossly insensitive given that he’s still technically married to the mother of his 7 children, even as we speak.
It’s also possible that he’s every bit the “dog” he claims all men are and started womanizing again. Maybe he even met someone. Leopards don’t change their spots. Girlfriend also might have become alarmed by her temperamental man sleeping with firearms in the house. Who wouldn’t be? That combined with his mishandling of the press during interviews where he went batsh-t painted a different portrait then the one she thought she bought. On top of that, instead of making her more esteemed, the hook-up only marginalized her more, given his shaky reputation. But maybe I’m given her too much credit.
There are so many possible reasons it’s impossible to expect to nail it down to one.
I feel sorry for the child. I hope Mel has some sober relatives that might step up, because neither of them seem stable enough to nurture her properly. Robyn was presumably a decent woman in a bad marriage so those kids might have at least gotten some emotional stability. And girlfriend’s son appears to have a very engaged father who’s with him a lot. Let’s hope there’s a good solution for this little girl.

Charity work is one of the best ways to rehabilitate a “sordid” reputation which can also be used as a self promotional tool for more commercial endeavors. Celebrities and politicians do it all the time. It’s also a convenient way to meet other high profile people who would not ordinarily socialize in your circle of acquaintances. Hint! Hint! If I’m not mistaken, Sir Paul McCartney met Heather Mills through her charitable endeavors. Perhaps, Oksana is utilizing a tactic from Heather’s playbook? Who knows? Actively participating in charitable endeavors never hurt any one who sincerely wants to help others. Perhaps due to these unusual set of circumstances, she’s found her calling? If so, I wish her well!!! She has a daughter to raise and the more she can do to mitigate her somewhat negative public image the better.
@Blitz…I think you are indeed giving Oksana too much credit. From the little bit I’ve read about her relationship history she seems to have ADD when it comes to her romantic involvements. One ex called her “an opportunist,” as she hooks up with men who can do something for her. She gets what she wants then moves on to the next guy, who also has something to offer. In Mel’s case, she met a wealthy, unhappily married man in the midst of a midlife crisis who was also (conveniently) a mentally unstable alcoholic and therefore easy to manipulate. She turned on the charm, flattered his ego, gave him “love” and he was bamboozled. Once she got him to bankroll her music career and turn her into a D-list celebrity she popped out her meal ticket baby to ensure her financial future and was done with him. She certainly wasn’t going to babysit Mel like Robyn did! And thankfully Mel finally came to his senses and decided to cut his loses and move on.

@Uzi I understand what you’re saying and I certainly agree his amore isn’t the most appealing person on the planet. I guess where we differ is where you see the problem mainly as a greedy conniver, manipulating poor hapless Mel, I see Mel and his own lack of ethics and sense of entitlement equally to blame.
Basically she’s deluded 40 year old who covers her a$$ just in case it doesn’t work out and so far it doesn’t appear to have. He’s Mr. “I’ll do whatever I want, when I want until I don’t want it anymore.”

I just read the link you provided, an have to say it’s a little strange. Robyn handled all the family finances and has a first rate legal team in her corner, so I don’t think she can be duped into taking Mel back so he can keep her from getting such a large settlement. She’s a smart woman, and I think Oksana’s pregnancy was the straw that broke the camel’s back in terms of what she was willing to put up with. I also doubt that Mel and Oksana could secretly be togther without some media outlet like the NE finding out. I don’t think this relationship was ever supposed to be longterm. If Mel truly loved Oksana she wouldn’t have had to get pregnant to hold on to him and break up his marriage. And as I said before, her definition of “love” is very different from that of people like us.
@Uzi..the report is that Robyn and Hannah didn’t want Mel’s money to go to Oksana. I don’t really buy it.
I can see Hannah being protective of her father and not liking how Oksana was using him. And Robyn, even though she is committed to the divorce, wouldn’t want the father of her children tied to a woman she hates. But I don’t think Mel is so naive as to need Robyn and Hannah to enlighten him that Oksana is after his money and fame. As you say, their relationship wasn’t meant to be longterm, and the quick confirmation of their split confirms this.
@Uzi I too get the impression that Robyn is bright but sometimes women have lingering fantasies about men no matter how badly they hurt them or destructive the relationship. However I think the divorce is a done deal at this point and Robyn’s lawyers would certainly fend off any second thoughts. And yeah she seems financially savvy and she’d smell a rat if he pulled a move like that. I wouldn’t rule out him going back to his girlfriend. On/off agains are pretty common in my experience. But who knows what went down. They both had plenty of reasons to back out. I’m sure you noticed that, with notable exception, there was a scarcity of Hollywood comrades at his LA premier. I wondered if that didn’t weigh heavily on both of them albeit for different reasons.
@Blitz…Mel’s always been protective of his image, so maybe that is weighing heavy on his mind, especially with the cold shoulder he’s gotten over the past few years. After Mel and Oksana “came out” as a couple at the “Wolverine” premier last year there was an item by an entertainment columnist from a Chicago paper (don’t remember which one) which was picked up on a web site (don’t remember which one either). It said that many of the people there, including some of the film’s stars, treated them as if they had the swine flu. Like much of the public, they were shocked by the appearance so soon after Robyn’s divorce filing. And out of respect for Robyn they either ignored or spent as little time as possible with the couple. I don’t know if things have changed. Of course there will always be industry people who despise Mel because of the anti-semetic rant. He has never been a big Hollywood schmoozer even before that all went down.
@Cathy T…I don’t buy that explanation either. Mel’s already spent money on Oksana and will continue to do so regardless of the state of their relationship because of the baby. Obviously the Russian media will have a Team Oksana bias; she’ll probably be a role model for women there and a major celebrity.
OH please…isn’t it obvious? Oksana has a son to Timothy Dalton (please note – he was a celebrity at the time) and now Mel Gibson. Mel is just a drunk who cannot keep his D*** in his pants. She is a manipulating lady that uses celebrity D***s for a better life. Basically a celebrity prostitute with a brain, after all she only has to sleep with them a couple of times, gets pregnant and them bleeds them for what she can get. well it’s been a long time coming…uzi…we have seen this thing from the beginning…first off being so disappointed in being duped by his image of a god fearing family man to this…..i think if she hadn’t gotten pregnant, who knows…robyn wouldn’t have been forced to a divorce and his life would have continued as it had…mistresses here and there and the fortune intact……he always has to have woman, so who knows, she probably will be an easy mark for a while, but dangerous……now he can see who he wants after this initial shocker…he really showed his hand and the charade of a marriage….
Well, she picked the right guy to get pregnant. This is so typical a set-up and a Mel mid-life crisis. I truly hope he woke up and won’t come running back. I hope he and his wife get back together. Or, that he just “singles it up and stays clean”. He can do it.
Someone called oksana a “celebrity prostitute”. That is really true when you think about it. With her oh so soft and gentle comments, she is scary. So many men in this country fall for foreign women as they can feel protective and in charge. I see these men every day in counseling. They all seem to fall for the “soft spoken voices and broken english” of these women. They seem to feel more empowered with needy womemn. Still, a mid-life crisis for Mel and a future paved with comfort for one of the shortest relationships and baby in the press in a long time. Pathetic.
With all the prayers going up to Heaven for Mel, this is good news. Hopefully, he’ll make his amends to his true wife, Robyn, and he’ll have grown up. Marriage is very important. Mel has to take care of his soul, then he can move on with his life. It goes hand in hand.
