Brad and Angelina to adopt Vietnamese boy

Finally, some non-ANS death/Britney’s crazy news: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are said to have started legal proceedings to adopt a Vietnamese boy.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have filed paperwork to adopt a boy from Vietnam, according to press reports.

The pair have three children — Maddox, 5, Zahara, 2, and Shiloh, 9 months.

A source in Vietnam tells US Weekly the couple have filed papers with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration services to adopt a boy from the Tam Binh orphanage in Ho Chi Minh City, which they visited in November.

The pair have long been vocal about their desire to raise more international children.

Their son Maddox was born in Cambodia, while daughter Zahara was born in Ethiopia.

Jolie said recently, “If we’re going to have 10 kids, we’d like to raise them while we’re young.”

Good for them. They have been quite clear that they want a “soccer team,” and they seem to have the resources, commitment and dedication needed to raise a large family. You always see them out with their children, and although they probably have help they’re not passing their kids off onto nannies like some other people having public breakdowns.

This news just started to break and it could be possible that a Vietnamese official wanted some extra cash, so I wouldn’t count it as true just yet. There was another story recently covered in OK! magazine that they were about to adopt a Namibian boy.

There’s a story this week that Brad and Angelina are seeking couples’ counseling, but the source is the notoriously bad Grazia magazine from Britain, which has been repeatedly sued and caught making up stories and fake quotes from celebrities. I doubt it’s more than fabrication.

Let’s wait and see if this latest adoption news is true, and if it is, congratulations! (If not, thanks to whomever gave me something to report about other than Britney and Anna.)

“…they probably have help they’re not passing their kids off onto nannies like some other people having public breakdowns.”

    nice blind item, C|B. 😉

  2. Marry says:

IS this truth? Cause i haven*t seen this information anywhere else. I Think that this is lye.

  3. mandi says:

if it’s true, then good for them. it’s nice to see *good* parents for a change.

  4. kikistar says:

Oooh!Good news!A new child will be saved and loved!I couldn’t be happier for this new baby!!It’s obvious they are good parents. Can’t wait to see the new little baby!

  5. Mr. T says:

Eh, give it a rest. These globe trotting “do-gooder’s” need a reality check. Adopt an older unwanted American child without a parent. Do something really good instead of getting media hype. Brad and AJ do not impress me one little bit. Puke and move along.

  6. countrybabe says:

Weren’t they in Vietnam in November?
I think they are a public breakdown getting so many kids so fast.
I’m with Mt. T adopt an American child. They probably couldn’t get one so quick though. I guess Angelina has brainwashed Brad into one biological child. I hate it for him. He’ll have ten to support when he moves on the the next actress.
They just don’t know. I’m a teacher and they haven’t even gotten to the hard part yet.

  7. Breederina says:

I’m a mother of many, teenagers to toddler, and there is no easy part, just alot of good parts. . .

  8. DogRunner says:

I agree as well with Mr. T. There are so many kids in this country who will never have a chance to have parents.

Why doesn’t good intentions include home as well? Or is she anti-American like the rest of the celebrities who made their millions here?

  9. Iva says:

It’s too bad Angelina isn’t interested in American children, she could “save” Britney’s children from the horrible crap they have been subjected to.

  10. Kolby says:

If not an American child, how about a South American child? Add some Latin flavor to their rainbow family.

  11. gumboyaya says:

So, those of you complaining about them not adopting American children, how many have you adopted? Its easy to get self righteous and judgemental about something like this. But how about looking at your own actions before condemning someone else’s

  12. Mr. T says:

Hey Gumboyaya, Jesus loves you too!

  13. Iva says:

Hey Gumboyaya – the average cost of adoption will run from $20K-35K – the average cost – most much higher.

Sorry I have a hard enough time eeking out a living and trying to save for my kids college funds – I don’t have the disposable income of Angelina and Brad…just a hard working middle class person trying to make ends meet.

  14. declanium says:

does anyone remember Shiloh? the poor kid seems to be inferior in that family because she is NOT adopted. Angelina has a cute nickname for Maddox and Zahara (Maddy and Zee)……yet Shiloh is just referred to as a “blob.” I’m all for adoption, but not to the detriment of your birth kids.

  15. kikistar says:

Why don’t they adopt an American kid? Blah blah… In America poor kids can at least eat, orphanages are not half collapsing because of roaches and mouldy walls… You don’t have war zones in the US and no famine. Even kids in orphan institutions have healthcare, not in the third world. The US is not the center of the world…Educate yourself. There are lots of grave issues, much more than in the US, in the REST of the world.

  16. kikistar says:

To declanium : Shiloh has a cute nickname too, it’s Shi.

  17. denial says:

Is it wise considering she seems so depressed and emaciated? A new baby face in the fold wont take grief away Angie.
About the ‘blob’ comments I wish pple wld read context it was said in. Babies’ personalities assert at different times every mother knows that. When they’re just born they ARE like little blobs of pure cute! And awe! And fatigue! And poop! And sick!

  18. Mr. T says:

    Kikistar, Jesus loves you!

    PS, we don’t!

  19. i heart lasagne says:

I realize I am probably in the minority, but I don’t care – I have a right to an opinion too! I totally agree with kikistar. Who really cares where they come from, anyway?

  20. Anonymous says:

Man that Zahara sure is an UGLY child. Poor thing!!!!!

  21. Whateva says:

People are so ridiculous. Just because you don’t see the baby splashed all over the news yet, doesn’t mean you won’t when she is older. When it is easier to swing her into your arms and go, she’ll be seen, too. And just because the woman jokingly refers to the kid as a little blob that doesn’t have much personality yet–that is true. It takes a few months for them to start getting individual and doing really cute things.

  22. Anonymous says:

Hey Iva, if you cannot afford to adopt any children, then don’t complain about what they do. That’s their money and they don’t have to adopt American children. and I totally agree to what kikistar says.

  23. pansy says:

how do you know they dont have nannies taking care of the kids???? im sure they do. the actress Mia Farrow did what they are doing now….
Zahara never smiles. I hope that angelina doesnt withhold food from her kids to “keep them sexy” like ANS. she is extrememly anorexic.
how come people look down on people who have a big family, but when those two do it, its cool. face it, they are buying children from desperate women in third world countries.

  24. no says:

oh right, and about public breakdowns….angelina is not stable. remember her antics with billybob??? right, a little time passes and now people want to make her good housekeeping mother of the year. they arent so young, either, she is in her mid 30s and he is in his mid to late 40s.

  25. Fabiola Thing says:

    Mr. T needs some lovin’…poor guy 🙁

  26. Iva says:

Hey Anonymous – where did I complain about them adopting??? Get your head out of your a$$ and read.

I mentioned the cost of adoption in a response to another poster who made a statement about anyone complaining should go out and adopt themselves. The point of the response is most people cannot afford the adoption process.

I could care less where Angelina goes to buy another child…

  27. Ceenitall says:

Maybe they should addopt Britney Spears and give the girl some stability in her life.

  28. Other Karen says:

A lot of the healthier couples in Hollywood get couple’s counseling as a preventative measure, so it wouldn’t be a big deal if they were. Angelina, from her public persona, seems reluctant to accept help of that sort though.

  29. Ginny says:

I know American children need good homes too, but the system in the US is notoriously ridiculous to work with and very restrictive. Also, even if they are living in orphanages, the American orphans already have atleast somewhat of a better life than the foreign children. American orphanages are better run, and the kids have the opportunities of the United States, whereas kids like Zahara would have little to look forward to but poverty, starvation, and probably an early marriage just to foist her off on someone else.

  30. Anastasia says:

A child is a child is a child. What is this, like the old car wars in the 70s, when we were all supposed to “buy American!!!” Please. Children in need of a home are children in need of a home, whether they are American, Venezuelan, Brazilian, Vietnamese, Nambian, what have you.

IF this is true, I’ll be glad another child will have a loving home to grow up in, a home in which they’ll never have to grow hungry, in which they’ll get an education and health care.

  31. j says:

do we care? nice to hear another innocent child will be raised by a crazy woman.

  32. kailie2 says:

“So, those of you complaining about them not adopting American children, how many have you adopted?”–I couldn’t agree more. I’d love to see those who dump on Brangelina for not adopting in the US spend some of their cash on a US adoption or ANY adoption. If someone gifted you with $30,000, would you adopt a child? I doubt it–a new SUV or a cruise is far more likely. I didn’t adopt either and I would NEVER criticize someone for being unselfish and adopting just because it’s from a “wrong” country… They already have an American child and will probably have more, good on them for adopting from places where orphanage often means disease and death.

  33. xiaoecho says:

Fabiola Thing…we ALL need some lovin’

  34. countrybabe says:

Kikistar, sounds like you don’t think the US is so great with your”it’s not the center of the world.” I don’t see you moving anywhere else just now and they aren’t either.
I’m sorry Zahara never smiles, money doesn’t buy everything-I hope one of their nannies is black so she has somebody to identify with.

  35. Kelly says:

Why adopt so many so fast? Seems like an addicton to me. Or a way of distracting attention from your other problems..

  36. Randi says:

Windfall for the orphan. But there is something very weird about seeking out children from a variety of countries to adopt. I remember Angelina’s comment on wanting the right ‘mix’. The references to a ‘collection’ rather than a family are spot on.

  37. julie says:

I went to University with a woman who’s parents adopted 8 children all from different countries. They were committed to diversity and creating a home where cultural differences were embraced and rejoiced. Adopting internationally is a way to show that you believe in peace and equality.

You cannot convince me that what they’re doing is a bad thing, you bunch of haters.

  38. anonymous says:

i hope brad is using rubbers.
some other blog had a crazy rumour that brad pitt was the sperm donor for melissa etheridge’s children.

there is no way that that couple of self indulgent freaks is raising that bunch without a big staff of people. i just am not impressed with these people. in a few years if not sooner, brand and angelina will split and those kids will be raised in some kind of hollywierd orphanage by hired help.they can call the orphanage pier 1 imports. they cant even commit to marriage between the two.

  39. anonymous says:

what do you think it is that makes america great? that we are the only country in the world that celebrates and embraces diversity and cultural differences. that is an american value.
why all the huffiness when a person suggests that they adopt american children. there is a lot of poverty and need here at home… and also, save your lecture asking about how many children a person may have…that is irrelevant. people seem to be so blindsided by what may appear to be glamorous that none of the rules that apply to other folks dont apply to them somehow.
    people are kinda dumb.

  40. a Canadian says:

“what do you think it is that makes america great? that we are the only country in the world that celebrates and embraces diversity and cultural differences. that is an american value.”

You’re joking right? There’s a whole lot of countries that you missed. When you say “people are kinda dumb” you may want to seriously take a look at your own uneducated perspective.

  41. rich says:

I don’t blame them for not adopting from this country. They are probably scared the birth mother would sell her story and be crying to the media if she does not get to see the child. I would prefer not to have to worry about that either.

  42. julie says:

    good point, rich!

  43. HappyGoLucky says:

“Adopt an older unwanted American child without a parent”. Mr. T., Have you ever been to a third world county or countries that have people living in such poverty? Even though a child in America may not have a parent, they have a far better life than a child in Vietnam. My family is from Vietnam and can definitely say that a child without parents have far worse living conditions than one in America. So wake up and travel around before you make ignorant comments like that.
