Erin Andrews on Elisabeth Hasselbeck: ‘a slap in the face to victims’

I tape The View every day, but only watch it occasionally when there’s a guest I want to see because Elisabeth Hasselbeck just bugs the sh*t out of me. It’s not her views, which I don’t agree with, it’s the way she expresses just about every opinion, even the rare ones I do agree with, in this rapid fire vehement way that leaves no room for discussion. She’s rude and interrupts and just won’t shut up. She also gets mad at the slightest perceived slight. Like when Senator Evan Bayh was on after his resignation she jumped down his throat for making a harmless reference to Sarah Palin writing on her hand, something that Palin herself later made fun of. Hasselbeck is just over the top and she’s always rallying against something.

That’s why I find it kind of inevitable that ESPN anchorwoman Erin Andrews is calling her out for a really obnoxious comment about one of Erin’s outfits on Dancing with The Stars. Erin was the victim of a stalker who followed her around the country, taped her nude without her consent and posted the video online. She’s been outspoken about how violated that made her feel, and how devastated she is that the tape still exists for anyone to see. Hasselbeck thinks that’s funny somehow, and made the snide comment that Andrews’ outfit was so small that her stalker must have thought “Man! I just could’ve waited 12 weeks and seen this – a little bit less – without the prison time!” Andrews’ stalker received two and a half years in prison after his sentencing in March. It came out that he’d victimized at least 16 other women. Andrews called Hasselbeck’s remarks “a slap in the face to victims of stalking and sexual predators.” If you watch the video of Hasselbeck saying this, (it’s above and on YouTube) it’s all the more offensive as she’s so self righteous about it.

Erin Andrews‘s waltz on Monday with her Dancing with the Stars partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy was her “best dance yet,” according to judge Bruno Tonioli. But when the ESPN sportscaster found herself the topic of discussion on The View Tuesday morning, she was none too pleased.

Host Elisabeth Hasselbeck criticized Andrews — who has faced two separate stalking incidents in the past year — for dressing inappropriately on Dancing.

“In light of what happened and as a legal [matter] — and as inexcusable as it was for that horrific guy to go in and try to peep on her in her hotel room,” Hasselbeck said. “I mean, in some way if I’m him, I’m like, ‘Man! I just could’ve waited 12 weeks and seen this — a little bit less — without the prison time!’”

In March, a man was sentenced to federal prison for filming Andrews through a hotel peephole and posting nude video of her on the Internet. In April, after beginning her stint on Dancing, Andrews received emailed death threats.

Following the DWTS results show Tuesday night, Andrews told PEOPLE Hasselbeck’s remarks were “a slap in the face to victims of stalking and sexual predators.”

Andrews, who was “very shocked” about the comments, continued: “The thing that I was most upset about is I felt she was mocking a situation,” she said. “As a mother and a woman, I’m disappointed she went there.”

[From People]

There was absolutely no reason for Hasselbeck to bring up what happened to Andrews while complaining that her dresses were too skimpy. Those things are completely unrelated. What if Andrews were a rape victim, would Hasselbeck realize then how inappropriate it was to connect those two events? She’s no mental giant that’s for sure. Plus it’s not like Andrews dresses any differently, or in less clothing, than Pamela Anderson, Nicole Scherzinger, or any of the other female competitors or dancers on the show.

The View was just on in my area and I doubt that there was enough time prior to this report being published for Hasselbeck to eat crow and apologize. I’m not going to sit through the whole thing to find out, either. As much as I love Whoopi she just can’t compensate for Hasselbeck and they need to get that foolish harpie off the panel. They need a smart conservative like Meghan McCain to balance out the panel. (I realize that she’s not as conservative, but she’s the first name I could come up with.)

I can picture Barbara looking at Hasselbeck with her pinched little face and spitting that she needs to apologize. That’s the only reason Hasselbeck is still on that show – she kisses Babwa’s ass regularly.

Update: Of course Elisabeth tearfully apologized, dame Barbara looking down on her the entire time. People has the video. That’s what I get for being lazy and not bothering to watch. Unlike Elisabeth, I’m not too sorry for that. There’s only so much of that woman I can take.

She was just on the View, fake crying an apology. Yuck. (No tears, BTW)

  2. Celebitchy says:

Melanie could you send me a link to that? I should have watched it.

  3. Melanie says:

Sorry, CB. I Just watched it on TV. It is about 20 minutes into todays show.

  4. NayNay says:

I think that Hasselbeck should be fired from the View. She is constantly making snide comments, and I think she is just an obnoxious person. I will not be watching the View any longer because of her.

  5. Celebitchy says:

That’s ok Melanie, I see it on People! That’s what I get for not bothering to watch. I will update, thank you!

  6. Bella says:

By Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s idiotic logic, it’s like saying that if someone got raped then they must have deserved it because they might have worn provocative clothes. How on earth did this woman got a job on The View is beyond me.

  7. Missmilly says:

HAHAHAHA….so the rest of those wenches are calm, cool, collect, respectful, NOT BIG MOUTHED AND LOUD, fair and not one-sided!! HAHAHAHA, To heck with them all! Stupid women! (Im a woman too, and I think most people are stupid in general..except for those who contribute to this site 🙂

  8. bellaluna says:

She sure lives up to the “Hassel” part of her name, but it should be spelled H-a-s-s-l-e instead. She’s obnoxious and wraps it up in this pious, concerned mother-and-wife package, which makes her even more grating. I don’t know how her family stands her.

  9. oh hey says:

    “I tape The View every day…” is a scary phrase. J/K. 🙂

All jokes aside, I thought Bitzy was mostly there to represent the young woman’s point of view as opposed to the right wing point of view. If that’s the case, there’s many women who would make better reps than Bitzy, such as you mentioned Megan McCain, I think she’s conservative as mommy and daddy’s money dictates her to be, but she seems like someone you can actually debate the issues with.

  10. Morning Glory says:

Yeah, because the rest of them are such reasonable, informed, classy people. This whole show is stupid, and makes women commentators look really bad. There women out there capable of intelligent conversation and discussion, and none of them are on this show. Its just plain embarrassing all the way around.

  11. Whatever says:

Obnoxious is the perfect word to describe her and I also hate the way she loudly spews her every opinion and then acts fake outraged at any dissenting opinion, which she counts as a slight. If they fired her, I might actually watch it more often. I watch it infrequently because she annoys me with her idiotic opinions on every subject. This last one is just offensive.

  12. gen says:

New low. I love Erin, how dare she say something so frikin disgusting. Get rid of the harpie!!!

  13. LDB says:

I haven’t watched a full episode of the view since shortly after she was hired. I really wish she wasn’t on the show because I used to love it. I didn’t always agree with the opinions but the conversation was intelligent and funny. She is neither.

  14. oh hey says:

Yes, the other women aren’t that much better, but Hasselbeck made the statements, not them. Throwing dirt on her co-hosts doesn’t take away from what Hasselbeck said, which is disturbing because 1) Erin could have assaulted or even murdered and b) she’s also the mother of a daughter, and I’m sure she wouldn’t be saying that if any of her family had a stalker.

Pointing out the other women aren’t any better when Bitzy is at fault only makes you stupid.

  15. Relli says:

I don’t know about Megan McCain. I saw her on an episode of Real Time and she was pulling this “Valley girl, i don’t know history because i was not even alive yet routine” and she got SCHOOLED. Bill was being incredibly nice to her and when she got all defensive and whiny he used his kinder gloves and told her to calm down and answer the questions like she was a 4 year old contestant on Toddlers and Tiaras. I was not impressed and realized she is just like the Bush girls, she got her media job because of her Daddy.

  16. lucy2 says:

I rarely see any of the show, but when I do, Elizabeth does bug me. And I agree, it’s not her views, it’s how she presents them in that self righteous way.
I’m glad she apologized, but it was a really stupid thing to say to begin with.
Actually, all the women on the View bug me – they all seem like ill informed loud mouths anymore.

  17. Lady Nightshade says:

I kinda get the feeling that Hasslebeck is actually a little jealous of Erin — she wants to be obsessed over too and it must be only because Erin is a slut

  18. freckles says:

WOW… Hasselbeck (shockingly) overstepped her boundaries on this one… How can someone even think something like that, let alone say it OUT LOUD on NATIONAL TELEVISION? How stupid can you be? Even if she’s enough of a bitch to actually think this and believe it, surely she’s not stupid enough to think there’s not going to be any repercussions? Seriously wtf.

EDIT: Just watched the “apology”, wow. So insincere it makes me sick. Not only is she faking the “tears”, but now she emphasizes who “detestable” and awful the guy is and acts shocked that her bitchy comments hurt Erin? Give me a break! Now I know why so many people hate this bitch.

  19. Sudini says:

What bothered me about her apology is that, while she kindly acknowledges regret for hurting Erin’s feelings, she NEVER acknowledges how damaging and misogynistic her statement was to ALL women, her daugher included.

She needs to really understand and then express her understanding of how wrong it is to essentially say that a woman is “asking for it” if she looks “too appealing” or is baring too much skin.

And then she needs to get to work on re-thinking just about everything else she’s ever said on that show. Ugh.

  20. Pont Neuf says:

Don’t be mean to poor Elisabeth (by the way, why the French spelling?)! Being a scandalously ignorant, bigoted, foolish, neurotic cow with severe Histrionic Personality Disorder must be hard… Or else, we could just call her a Conservative fame whore with a brain the size of a pea, and be done with it.

Elisabeth is an idiot, but she represents many small-minded people who think that shouting and “being passionate” or “feeling strongly” about the imposition of their own prejudices on others, excuses whatever harm they can cause to third parties.

‘The View’ is a rather annoying show, anyway. Whoopi isn’t much less ignorant than Elisabitch, Barbara is sycophantic and makes the most irrelevant questions imaginable in order to avoid ruffling any feathers, Sherri is beyond stupid and Joy Behar is just a supposedly liberal version of that Hasselbeck fool.

Besides La Walters, the only intelligent person to ever set foot on that TV studio was Rosie O’Donnell. Why she was replaced is beyond my understanding. She actually gave a little substance to the utterly inconsequential yak in which those women engage every day.

  21. Sudini says:

@Morning Glory – I agree completely. I’ve always thought this show perpetuates the idea of “hen party” and it needs to be put DOWN.

I would LOVE to see the standards raised by having a show with truly insightful, wise and inspirational women. Where are all the Julia Sugarbaker’s of the world?

..in the meantime, I’d settle for a Hasselbeck-free show.

  22. Marjalane says:

Meh. It’s a wash on this one. Hate Elizabeth, hate the ESPN chick.

  23. UGH says:

can’t stand Erin, she is just annoying
but not as annoying as EH, she needs to be fired….sh’es just an idiot

  24. L says:

So, this woman should behave differently coming away from what happened to her, being vulnerable, than she should act if it never happened to her? As a victim of having her privacy stolen and her personal space violated she should have behave differently now and have less confidence in who she is and present herself in a guarded way? She she behave differently than she would if she had not been victimized? Hassleback ashould have kept her self-righteous mouth shut. Maybe instead of throwing stones at her for making strong choices based on who she is and not based on how she was victimized, maybe Hassleback should be supportive of her.

  25. simplicity says:

Points well taken on the View being a rather annoying show. The first turnoff were a group of women who continually talk over one another. Whoopi who referred to Roman Polanski’s behavior as not rape, but, “rape-rape,” and Sherry’s dogged determination to promote the Jehovah’s Witnesses were other signs of low value programming.

Elizabeth appeared contrite because of her religious views, not from any sense of caring for another human being and her circumstances.

The View is not worth viewing.

  26. Skipper says:

Hasselbitch is a moronic harpy and should be fired from the show. I stopped watching it long ago when it became too painful to witness her non-stop stupidity and obnoxious behaviour. I still don’t understand how she got on the show in the first place – she has nothing to contribute and hasn’t done anything to deserve it. Yet another reality TV alum who gets a show – when will it end??

  27. Juice in LA says:

Of all the mentally deficient blowhard dim bulb morons on television, (or, for that matter, on earth) Elizabeth Hasselbeck is their Sovereign Queen- hell she’s the damn Budda of Idiocy.

I despise this pug faced tard more than that bigotted Miss California chicka from last year. Want to know why the View can’t nab the demographics it wants? because 30-something single educated professional females with great gobs of disposable income don’t want to hear anything that troll has to say.

I am not prone to wanting to see a cat fight, but I would pay big money to watch Erin Andrews kick the living shixxa out of this brain dead yappy tart. I practically LIVE for the day when one of her secret scandals finally comes to light and she has to go the way of the dodo- oh wait. She is the way of the DODO.

    STFU hasselbeck. that is all.

  28. Lala11_7 says:

Baba Wawa WILL NEVA fire Lizzy…because Lizzy is a LIGHTING ROD!!!

  29. nanster says:

There is nothing I hate more than a bunch of women who all talk at the same time trying to “make their points”. Hen party, indeed. I loathe “The View” and would rather have a root canal with no anethesia than watch that show. Elisabeth is nothing more than a reality show reject – she needs to learn to shut her yap. I don’t know how her husband stands her. She’s probably just jealous that DWTS hasn’t asked her to join their cast.

  30. Sumodo1 says:

Elizabitch is so jealous of Erin–don’t you think she WISHES she’d been asked to be on DWTS? And, how DARE THEY choose a lowly ESPN floor commentator over a star of The View!

    Poor, poor Elizabitch. Envy much?

  31. Sumodo1 says:

@juice in LA — Love your comment!

  32. A comment on Meg McCain – She is awesome and while her views might be influenced by her parents she is NO where near the right winged extremest that HassHo is. She would be AWESOME on the veiw!

  33. L says:

Also, regarding the apology, did Hasselback leave work feeling bad because she did some self reflecting and realized her comments were ignorant and insensitive, or did she feel bad because of a backlash by the public due to her comments? If the general consensus has been to support Hassleback’s comments, would she still have made that apology??

  34. EMV says:

I have to say that as a woman who considers herself an anarcho- capitalist, I cannot stand everyone on the show, but Whoopi. Whoopi is the only one who can actually see both sides of most stories. Not all,but most. The rest of the gang, Joy, Sherri,Barbara, and Elisabeth are all annoying, factless, clueless, and not to mention completely out of touch with moderate America. There needs to be a view on the View that has not been brainwashed by their “side”. As for the Meghan McCain…she needs to stop whining and thinking that she is so important. I agree with a lot of what she says, not everything, but some… the way she states her opinions sound uneducated and pompous. As for Erin Andrews, no one really knew who she was until her stalker scandal…i think that what happend to her is awful and traumatic, but just as Paris Hilton and Kim Kartrashian, no one knew or cared who they were before there was a sex tape out or some sort of scandal.

  35. Anastasia says:

I don’t watch the View for two reasons:

    1. They talk alllll over each other, so what’s the point? I can’t understand what people are saying, it’s like a bunch of noise.

    2. That Hasslebeck woman. Enough said.

She’s gross for making fun of Erin’s stalker and sexual harrassment.

  36. LolaBella says:

The View needs to be canceled; it’s such an embarrassing spectacle.

I’m all for a forum where women can come together and respectfully discuss issues that impact us, share their experiences and opinions; but The View is definitely NOT that place.

The initial idea that Barbara had for the show was good and optimistic, but egos got in the way and that show went to shit after a few years.

  37. MSat says:

Love that you wrote about this. It’s pretty clear that the rest of the panel was basically horrified by Elisabeth’s comments here and if that didn’t give her a litmus test for how the rest of the public might interpret it, well then, she is a lost cause. I mean, when Sherry sounds more intelligent than you, you should probably STFU forever.

  38. Juice in LA says:

@Sumodo- Grassy!!!! I always love your comments!!!!

  39. d says:

Elizabeth strikes me as one of those women who’ve never really had to work hard or suffered because she’s had a priviledged upbringing of the type where issues are set in stone, and the answers are black and white and it’s usually someone else’s fault if something bad happens to them. It’s pretty clear she doesn’t get it. Too bad, because sometimes, there’s grain of something useful in what she’s saying, but because she really doesn’t fully comprehend the issue, it comes out as garbage. A lot of people like this, they think they know what they’re talking about because they have a strong opinion and can talk over other people, but if you break down their arguments/views bit by bit, it all falls apart. They they get mad. It’s kind of funny.

  40. julie says:

I loved the view when Lisa Ling was on. She was so intelligent and a good young woman role model. I cannot stand to watch since Hasselback has been on. She is like a younger version of Sarah Palin (IM sure she thinks this is a compliment):ignorant, stupid, uneducated, and someone who people in other countries probably put on a loop to represent ignorant americans. She isnt even supportive of other women, and I have lost all respect for barbara walters for hiring her and keeping her on this show.

  41. ering says:

I’m with Pont Neuf. In college, I used to watch the View with Rosie when I got a chance because she at least made it interesting. Whoopi was the most boring person on the face of the earth as far as I was concerned. Then my roommates and I started a full-on Whoopi boycott (that continues to this day) after some incredibly insensitive and damaging comments she made about the Chris Brown-Rhianna incident. And conservative women should be up in arms over who is currently representing them in mainstream media! Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Carrie Prejean, and Sarah Palin?? What a slap in the face to intelligent and thoughtful conservative women everywhere.

  42. original kate says:

hasselbeck needs to drink a big, steaming mug of STFU. seriously – what is this bitch’s problem? i love that she really doesn’t say she was wrong, only that her daughter made her feel bad, or the bible made her feel guilty, or whatever. she needs to apologize to every woman who has been raped/harassed/molested for insinuating that they somehow deserved it, and then she needs to be fired.

  43. jhs03 says:

Nobody could possibly be more crass, rude, annoying than ROSIE O’DONNELL. Thank goodness she is off the show. Whoopi is close behind.

  44. Eileen Yover says:

Hasselbeck has always reminded me of one of those small yappy, snappy dogs. She drives me nuts and I’m glad she’s getting her ass handed to her about this. It was an unacceptable comment.

  45. zippy says:

    @L
She only made the apology b/c of the backlash. Even the designer/stylist for Erin let her know he is the one who designs her outfits. I doubt she thought twice about saying what she did.
Her apology is phony as shit, not buying it. That comment was an insult to any females going thru something like that. I feel Erin’s pain on that one and I hope she gets fired. That was so out of line and inexcusable, even more so b/c it came from a female.

  46. Taya says:

Elisabeth Hasselbeck should be fired for this and all of the other nasty things she says about people that are extremely inappropriate. Just like the crap about the war. If she is so pro-war, then why don’t her egotistical, lazy, fat husband join the military and go fight over in Iraq. You know why? Because Elisabitch is only pro-war if it does not involve her family.

Hasselbeck is such a hypocrite. A skank when she was young, now all of a sudden she is this righteous martyr. Typical hypocritical wannabe Christian. Once a whore, now a saint.

  47. canadianchick says:

I like the hot topic segment of the View though hate it when they talk over each other. I loaaaaaathe Hasselcrack and wish Baba would fire her orange a$$.

  48. Beth says:

Anytime you make Sherri Sheperd look smart you know you made a stupid statement. I don’t know why Elisabeth expects Erin to wear a burka from now on because of the peeping crime.

  49. a says:

there are lots of folks who don’t watch the view because of hasselbeck (including me). i guess they get press when she puts her foot in her mouth… but is it worth it?

what she said was very wrong and ignorant.

  50. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

    ‘The -alighty -ollar’.

Which is to say, E.B’s frequent shit fits keeps the water cooler companies in business. Were it not for her *ahem*, peppery personality, there would be nothing to focus on but for Barbara’s weapons grade cheek implants, or watching Sherri’s bosom collapse in on itself like a supernova in a girdle.

Given that Bill Geddes is a Republican, I would find it very difficult to square his politics with his business concerns–were it not for the Sweet Lady Coin. If this were a new show, I would think to myself, ‘How could I ever build credibility and sustainability with an audience when I throw five rhesus monkeys into a sack and hit some power lever?’

Doesn’t matter now, he’s got his and that’s fine. This dog and… worse dog show is powered on sensation and hyperbole- an effective way of injecting life into a premise that has been past its sell by date since the Latin-pop craze. Let the babies have their bottles, they’re not the ones suspending the strings. It’s pretty savvy in a ‘leave no marks on the body’ sense. Hasselbeck knows how to get heard, so it makes good business sense to keep her around. Throw of a disclaimer to disavow yourself of culpability and eat some Luxury Pie at the Fox News caf.

  51. Shannon says:

Elisabeth is engaging in a classic case of victim blaming, and that is really, really low of her. Erin Andrews has every right to wear whatever the hell she wants to, thank you very much. Elisabeth seems to be implying that victims of sexual predators should be ashamed and cover themselves up in hijabs, and that women who dress in skin-bearing outfits are somehow inviting rape. Neither of these makes any sense at all, but both opinions are damaging and are meant to shun victims. Shame on you, Elisabeth.

It’s not funny to joke about a crime like this, and spread such poisonous views for the world to soak in.

  52. luna says:

@EMV – I get what you’re saying about Andrews, but I think the situations are different. Kardashian and Hilton knew they were being filmed and even made negotiations for themselves once they found out their tapes were being released. Andrews had no idea she was being filmed and I don’t know about her, but personally, I would rather be an unknown newscaster than have naked pics / videos of me floating around the internet. Not everybody cares about the extra recognition…

  53. koko269 says:

I used to watch the View, but i’ve stopped wathing for a while now because of Hasslehack.

  54. GatsbyGal says:

If a man on a morning talk show made that exact comment, he would’ve been fired that afternoon.

This bitch just proves over and over again how thoughtlessly cruel she is…when will she get the can?

  55. Lanette says:

I can’t believe that Elizabeth said that! mY goodness.
My retired mother is now taking piano lessons cause when she was a child she stopped taking lessons cause her teacher wouldn’t keep his hands off of her!
gee maybe as a child she didn’t dress as she should have-right Elizabeth?

  56. ERM says:

The most surprising fact is how many people actually watch The View. That show is horrid and has been from the moment EH landed on the show. She is incredibly malicious (like Palin) and prefer not to validate that type of behavior by watching the show.

As to her comments, they are in line with her entire malicious, mean-spirited and petty life.

  57. Missfit says:

Elizabeth is it? Hmm, I lost interest when her and Rosie duked it out, I was like…who does this bitch think she is? It’s obvious she always thinks she is right, she wants the LAST WORD, she thinks she’s better than everyone else and she may think her shit don’t stink. Another COCKY celeb. I feel sorry for how smart she thinks she is, but she’s NOT. NO woman deserves to gets stalked or raped or murdered by some psycho path, no matter what. Neither do men like John Lennon getting murdered by his stalker and who knows how many other people have been victims. R.I.P to all who have lost their lives that way. If Ellen Degeneres didn’t have her own show, she would be awesome here. They need some REAL people on this show. I’m glad I don’t have cable on my telly, I stopped watching shows like this and reality shit a long time ago. It’s usually cartoon network all day.

  58. original kate says:

@ EMV – are you seriously comparing someone who knowingly made a sex tape to someone who was stalked and taped without her knowledge? there is the little issue of consent you seem to be forgetting about. it’s that kind of reasoning that makes women ashamed to come forward, afraid they will be judged and found to be sluts.

  59. me says:

yup the other four are so much better. i dont watch this crap but its funny to me that left wingers cant stomach teh other side getting a hearing when its 3 on 1

  60. Barbara says:

When I heard Elizabeth saya what she said about Erin, my jaw dropped. I was absolutely stunned. How dare she say something like that. It’s like saying the girl wearing skimpy clothes deserved to be raped. She needs to be fired. She needs to keep her self righteous mouth shut. Her apology was too little, too late. The only thing she was sorry for was the fall out about her remarks. She needs to be held accountable for remarks such as this. She needs to go!!!

  61. Sunnyjyl says:

I stopped watching soon after Elisabeth joined the show. Tried again when Whoopi joined, but just couldn’t take it. I’m definitely NOT regretting that decision. It’s sad to think that there are probably a lot of people who do agree with her comments on this topic.

  62. Dhavy says:

This is a perfect example of what happens when they decide to hire a person from a reality show (I hate them all!) I swear she’s coming very close to being the female version Glen Beck but Ann Coulter still holds that title.

And how stupid can someone be to think that a 5 year old came up with the idea of calling Erin! Do not insult my intelligence by telling me your kid is so smart she suggested you give someone a call for insulting them! GMAFB

  63. Karen says:

Totally agree with Morning Glory, Pont Neuf, and Sudini; I am as liberal as they come but I cannot stand a single woman on this show! I am sort of neutral about Barbara but Joy and Whoopi make liberals and women look bad! Not to mention Elisabeth…This piece of crap really needs to be cancelled.

  64. bellaluna says:

Anyone who has ever been stalked, peeped upon, or harassed should be offended at Elisabeth’s callous, wildly inappropriate remarks. We should also make ABC and The View aware of OUR VIEWS. Maybe they’ll finally get rid of her.

There are no words for the terror you feel when a current love, or an ex, follow you around; photograph you; call & harass you; and sometimes worse. Anyone who has never been through that should only have words of sympathy for those who have. PERIOD.

  65. p3rp3tu4 says:

I saw the snippet on E! & odd that she herself was wearing skimpy attire to call out a dancer. So her talk show attire is appropriate? lol

  66. mm hm says:

i seem to remember Elizabeth being more than happy to prance around on ‘Survivor’ wearing a bandana as a tube-top (referred to as a ‘buff’ on the show). i suspect she’s really just jealous cuz she wants to appear on DWTS !!! am i right? well? am i ??

  67. Joe says:

I’m digging Elisabeth’s slutty strapless outfit…..just like a pot calling the kettle black.

  68. kathy says:

Elizabeth should be fired off the view. Her apology was bs. Telling everyone her daughter got her to apologize thats appalling considering she couldnt come to that conclusion on her own. They should get a petition going stating she should get fired. I watch the view everyday and now im not unless she gets fired. She been rude more than once and as a victim myself I canot believe they would accept an appology for us when she should be fired. Please fire her and show her how it feels to be embarrased on tv. She thinks she so great fire her and nobody buy her books or her clothing line and let her come back to reality.

I’ve stopped watching The View because of Hasselbeck, and that was a year ago. What qualifications does she have to make an evaluation on stalking behaviour? And to treat it lightly, but it’s the network’s fault. Somehow, being a reality show contestant makes everyone an authority these days.

    @ d:

I’m in complete accordance with your comment. I said something similar around the time that it hit the media that she was being sued for plagiarism. Her views are so reductive and short-sided. They are completely predicated on a white, bourgeois, Judeo-Christian upbringing. There is nothing inherently wrong with that until you start pontificating, particularly off of limited experience. I seriously doubt that she has ever attmepted to experience the world through the eyes of others what with Jesus (forever the protector of middle class morality) breathing down her back.

I really tried with this woman in the beginning, not wanting to hate her because she’s the obvious conservative punching bag. But as she continues unabashedly in her unregenerate daftness, I say, throw me a pair of gloves.

Women are women’s worst enemy. Happens anytime, anywhere.

I think she should be made an example of what we will not tolerate. Unfortunately, I know far too many women (my own estranged mother for instance) who applauded her for saying what they wished they had the guts to say.

I’ve only ever watched snippets of the show (don’t own a tv) but a bunch of women all yelling over each other is a disgrace and fodder to those who think women are just a bunch of harpies who can’t have an intelligent discussion amongst themselves.

you guys crack me up! i thought i was the only one with an incredible dislike for EH. i agree and Barbara should find a replacement for EH as soon as her contract is up…..sick of her mouth and i’m so perfect attitude…….

I think we should all realize we do make mistakes, with that being said Elisabeth has way too many rude snobby comments and is constantly interupting others opinions on the show its called the view, which is an opinion BUT NOT A SHOW TO PUT DOWN AND HURT A SMART BEAUTIFUL WOMAN WHO’S RIGHT TO PRIVACY WAS TAKEN AWAY AND POSTED FOR EVERYONE TO VIEW! Elisabeth why dont you practice listening to others VIEW points and becoming a better more respectful person!do unto others!!!

  75. Nic says:

surprisingly – I was thinking what E.H. was saying over the weeks – watching what she was wearing – very little – I thought it was odd, considering, her past situation – for the first time – I agree with E.H. – I don’t think she needed to apologize, it’s her “view”/”opinion” – whether Erin is paid or not paid, I have to wonder wtf she was doing in such revealing clothing if she’s that traumatized??

  76. MSat says:

    Three things:
First, Elisabeth became famous initially, long before marrying a pro football player and joining The View, for wearing little more than a strategically-placed bandana on “Survivor.” (http://images.askmen.com/imagesvote/2001_may/survivor_chicks/elisabeth_filarski.jpg)

Second, anyone who has watched professional ballroom dancing knows that the womens’ costumes are skimpy. Take a look at this web site: http://www.dancesportballgowns.com/sale.html

And third: Erin is certainly not the only woman who wears revealing costumes on that show. Do I need to remind people about S1 winner Kelly Monaco (http://images.buddytv.com/articles/dancing-with-the-stars/images/kelly-monaco.jpg) who nearly fell out of her costumes on several occasions?

Elisabeth is one of those meddling, judgmental hags who sits around tearing down other women when she has done NOTHING of substance on her own.

  77. Mistral says:

That is such a stupid comment!! What an asshole. I think stalking laws and privacy laws (especially regarding the internet) need to be way stricter and more punishing.

  78. Belle Epoch says:

A lot of wonderful comments here – I love CELEBITCHY readers!

To me it sounds like a “joke” she picked up from her husband – doesn’t it sound like something a moronic ex-football player would say? Ha ha, the perv could have just waited for his peep show?

She’s happy to throw another woman under the bus without a glimmer of understanding or empathy. Imagine the hysteria and waterworks if this bitch had a stalker? We’d never hear the end of how violated she felt.

People who have no empathy are called sociopaths.

  79. Anne says:

Elisabeth Hasselbeck epitomizes ignorance…I think the louder she talks the more sense she thinks she makes. She’s an idiot and an embarrassment. Get her off tv already thus ending her too long 15 minutes of fame! Who is with me on this??

  80. ViktoryGin says:

    @ Nic….

Whoa….a person’s decision to wear scanty costumes (and that’s what they were…costumes…) has NO bearing what so whatever on another person’s decision to violate them. Erin Andrews’ costumes are being worn completely in the context of a show in which most of the women are dressed considerably skimmpier. She’s not trolling some seedy part of town flashing her bits for cash (in which case it still wouldn’t be right), and moreover, she has complete control over the situation and has obviously given her own consent. She did not give that man permission to film her naked in the privacy of her own home. I hate this mentality that cavalierly links clothing choice with implicit permission to violate someone’s sphere. Not cool.

all woman are dumb but their men wouldnt dare tell them that .and eriN andrews is just a dumb college football reporter she should be thankful to that guy he launched her career .she really isnt that good looking so get over your self .
