We’ve said it before – Adrien Brody is no longer cool, if he ever was. Between his leather lounge suits and his sketchy facial hair and his general douchey demeanor, Adrien became a joke. His career is kind of in the toilet too. Evidence: he’s part of the ensemble of some terrible-looking sci-fi/horror movie called Splice, that looks like a budget version of Species/The Relic/The X-Files/some other movies. Last night was the premiere in LA. And Adrien’s doucheface was in full effect. Seriously, the cheesy, “I’m so cool” expressions were flowing like wine. The motherf-cker was even wearing a limp little cravat!
For some reason, two Hollywood power players also attended the Splice premiere. One was producer Joel Silver, who probably produced Splice, and I’m just too lazy to look it up. But he’s a good person to have in your corner. Also there? Robert Downey Jr.! When did RDJ and Adrien become friends? Why is RDJ looking out for Adrien?
They look thick as thieves. What do you think RDJ is saying to him? “This too shall pass, brother. Get yourself some supporting actor work on good films, then work your way up to leading man status. I call it the ten-year plan. Oh, and lose the f-cking cravat.”
Here’s the trailer for Splice, if you care. This sh-t looks horrible.

I am not a fan of his – I don’t get the apeal.
My god. RDJ is so fucking hot.
RDJ and Brody look like a couple. Wasn’t it years ago (before his drug addled downfall and recovery), that there was speculation about RDJ’s sexuality? That he was bisexual?
These images look really chummy!
Brody should consider facial hair that doesn’t emphasize his narrow face.
I don’t care what the consensus is here, Brody is hot, and Splice looks like a good movie to me….
Confession: I find him ridiculously attractive, even with the douche-face. I can acknowledge it’s douchy, but I just…Yum. Granted, I also love Vincent D’Onofrio and Jeremy Piven, so I have an affection for quirky/douchy characters.
**sigh*
RDJ is there for Joel Silver, not for Adrien Brody. Susan Downey works as a producer for Joel Silver and Silver produced Splice.
sara polley is in splice with brody – that is a pretty good reason to see it. i have been reading positive reviews for it. maybe this just isn’t your genre?
step away from the hotness that is RDJ, doucheface brody.
Why all the Brody-hate? 😮
Btw., he and RDJ both appeared in The Singing Detective. (He as “First Hood”, RDJ as the singing detective/the author Dan Dark.)
@ ifk
Exactly! You beat me to it.
I mean…he’s not married and f*cking around on wife with bottom-feeding sluts. He seems to be sober. He doesn’t have any illegimates running around…yet. And he’s not much of a fame whore. And he is actually a good actor. Now, if we could just hire him a stylist….Nevermind, I like my men borderline-ugly, I’ve been told.
Jen, Weeble, and PrettyTarhee know what I’m talking about. Team Adrien, all the way!
The facial hair on Brody doesn’t look that bad, it’s his nose that needs some work. RDJ is definitely hot!
i’ve never seen him in anything or heard really any stories about him so i’m also wondering why he’s getting so much hate here? did i miss some huge douchey story?
@Vi
Well, there were some photos of him partying with Paris Hilton at the Cannes Film Festival, which gossip blogs/mags tried to spin into the two of them dating. But remember when her Sidekick got hacked 7 years ago? His phonenumber was among all the celebrity numbers there – so that must mean they’ve known each other for a long time. Then he wore a baggy leather suit (also at Cannes). Well, rather that than cheating on your wife, Tiger Woods-style, IMO!
It seems it all boils down to people not liking his style, looks and choice of movies…
I think that AB has done a few things that are watchable (I regrettably admit that I loved the Peter Jackson-version of King Kong, cheesy as it was, and The Pianist was wonderful). The soul-patch-line thing is skeezy and needs to be gone; it’s icky. And the craveat-like necktie seems like it was intended to go outside of the shirt, under the collar. RDJ is so effervescently yummy that he could actually pull that off and do it well, and I wouldn’t be surprised if AB was trying to take fashion tips from his lead. I just don’t think he really knows what to do with his status of having done a couple of movies but not really able to carry anything by himself yet. He’s full of himself with new fame on a D-list kind of level. Not like RDJ, who’s been through so much that now he’s just sublimely cool. That recent article of his was awesome.
The trailer reminds me of the It Lives movies from the seventies, mixed with the Species stuff from the 90s. Hopefully it’s not horrible but I won’t be seeing it in the theater.
Splice was very well received at Sundance this year and has been getting pretty good reviews. I would hardly call it “shit” – maybe sci fi/horror just isn’t your genre, as someone mentioned above.
Also, Sarah Polley is fabulous, both as an actress and a screenwriter. I read somewhere that she is working on writing a new movie.
Well I love me some Adrien. I love him in the Zegna ads
I don’t know…saw in people magazine that they gave the movie a really good review…
To me AB looks like Adnan Ghalib.
I adore RDJ. That is all.
Love him!!
I love the cravat. It’s different. Why hate things that are different?
I might be the odd one out here considering I’m on a celebrity gossip site, but I usually pick my favorite actors based on how skilled they are at acting–you know, since that’s their job. So bad fashion and questionable taste in women aside, AB is a skilled actor. And since this movie’s been getting good reviews, I might go see it, and that’s saying a lot because I usually can’t stand sci fi.
I don’t think Splice looks bad at all! And I think AB is really a talented actor. I just caught the Brothers Bloom the other week…loved it.
And yeah Sarah Polley rarely makes a miss, I think by her name alone it’s an indication Splice will be a pretty good watch!
Adrian Brody is rapidly approaching Nicolas Cage-land. (shiver/ick)
Splice looks okay, but I still think it looks like an X-Files episode with a blonder, less booby Scully and an uglier Mulder.
ering, WTF are you talking about? No one here said they hated AB’s movies based on his looks, it seems like the comments are about his looks or his talent or a combo of both, unrelated. They aren’t being linked to each other as in, I can’t stand his movies because he’s so ugly, his face overwhelms his acting ability. :/
I will see Splice to see Sarah Polley. Worship.
The movie looks awful and I love sci-fi movies. I don’t care how great the reviews are-apparently the people who put together the trailer suck at making movies look good.
Anyway, that douche beard is awful. it looks like he dripped a bit of chocolate out of his mouth and it ran down his chin and pooled at the bottom.
Men, some advice: If you have to delicately shave your beard into an unnatural shape, it looks douchey. Like, really really bad.
ya, maybe he should get a nose job so he can look like everyone else!!!! Give me a break, AB is different and has a certain charm and I like him as an actor!!
I’ve never found him attractive, but I think AB is a good actor. I have liked his work in movies like “Summer of Sam” and “The Darjeeling Limited.” Those films would not be the same without him. However, it does seem that of late his career has taken a nosedive, and I TOTALLY agree with you Kaiser that this movie looks absolutely HORRIBLE. Stupid Lisa Schwarzbaum on EW gave it an A- review!! But she always likes movies I hate and vice versa, so there you go.
@Kelaa Khaa……NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! It’s just the douche beard. I swear. Please make it just the douche beard. Otherwise, that comparison might make me hurl….
I love him so much – SAY WHAT YOU WANT – brody forever!!!!
And, by the way, the film “Splice” is actually get pretty good reviews and is said to be an exceptionally good sci-fi film.
Fuckthatshit.
Adrien Brody is fucking adorable, how could anyone hate on that.
OH god..RDJ…*jizzes*
“Splice” was really good. I got to see an advance of it. I don’t really like sci-fi terror kind of films, but this one was actually quite good. And I do like Adrien Brody. He has horrible taste in women and clothes, but he’s such a good actor.
Ugh. His face in that second picture.
Just instantly irritating and I want to slap it.
@PrettyTarheel. I can’t get behind ya on the Adrien love but D’Onofrio hell yeah! I also have a small soft spot for Piven. *shame-face*
Tell me whatever you want, but I love this man, and I love him even more now that I’m seeing him with RDJ in these pictures… they’re are exchanging hotness to one another, so bad I’m not between them…
It’s his nose that makes him HOT, people! You want a man with a Rob Lowe nose? He is STUNNING…and NICE. Seen him and person and I melted. So, he takes chances on style. I would if I was a guy, too.
Saw “Splice” last night and was blown away. Sarah Polley (whom I love) and Brody were perfect in roles that could’ve been easily blown by less talented actors. This movie will be haunting my thoughts for a long time. It’s a bit Cronenberg-esque if that’s your style. There were MANY producers, including Guillermo del Toro so don’t let the Joel Silver name throw you off.
Sarah Polley rocks!!!
you should do more stories on her, and it’s not just cause she’s a hoser.
is doucheface code for something? i don’t get it at all… what exactly qualifies him for that epithet? it’s so off base it’s like a language i don’t understad. he’s gorgeous and an amzing actor. too good for hollywood. can act circles around any actor working there today, including RDJ.
I think he’s looking a little full of himself… and the fact that he thinks he can get away with the neck band and the facial hair… come on.
