Jessica Alba in “the best editorial ever” in Elle Korea

alba1

Huffington Post and Fashion Foie Gras are calling Jessica Alba’s photo shoot for June’s Elle Korea her “best editorial ever”. Really? Sure, it beats many of her magazine appearances as of late, but Alba still looks bored and boring. She and Megan Fox are very similar that way, in my opinion. They are both horrible models, and are rarely interesting photographic subjects. Megan is dull because that’s her personality – she only has two modes, “sexy” or “corpsey”. Alba, on the other hand, usually looks like she’s about to cry or bitch someone out. Generally, she’s looks miserable, perhaps because of her “natural bitchface”.

I do like her in the McQueen (in the header photo). But I don’t want to buy anything she wears just because she always looks so sad and dejected in whatever she’s got on.

I do actually think that Jessica Alba is the most beautiful woman on the planet. And nobody knows this better than Jessica Alba.

  2. ogechi says:

Indeed Jessica Alba is very very and absolutely beautiful. Excellent curves that many white ladies lack and captivating aura that makes every progressing lady envious. She is Cute.

  3. tina says:

she looks amaaaaazing in these, wtf are you talking about?! i would trade looks with her in a heartbeat, as would most women on this planet.

  4. lucy2 says:

I think she’s very pretty, I don’t think she’s a bad model. I do think she’s a bad actress though, and most of the time seems grumpy.

  5. Fae says:

She looks alright. I’m never sure with Alba, she’s a woman from the neck down but has the face of a four year old, IMO. Suppose that’ll be a blessing when she’s 80, though.

  6. Majosha says:

Her skin is to die for.

  7. autotron says:

I hate how often celebrities from non-caucasian ethnicities are automatically creditied for having “curves” that “white women can never have” when they are obviously rail thin and/or have IMPLANTS (i.e.: Alba). How this translates to “natural, womanly, REAL curves” is beyond me. Bunch of blind racists.

  8. Trillion says:

Loving the clothes, the shoes. Alba’s OK. The styling outshines her by a mile. (except I disagree with long hair and overaccessorizing with the Alexander McQueen dress)

  9. Constance says:

airbrush pores much? I wonder if her body is closer to these final images. The last time she did a big shoot for that alcohol ad, she was grossly slimmed down by photoshop.

  10. Amy says:

shes looks uncomfortable in some of those pics so much i kinda feel for her.

  11. Berry says:

    @ogechi

Hahahah 😀 Are you trying to cause problems?

Alba hasn’t eaten since she had her baby. She looks so skinny now. Especially last night at the MTV Movie Awards

  12. california angel says:

That first snake-esque dress is so familiar, somebody rocked it on InStyle, the same one without the jacket, it’s a really intricate design.

  13. Deja says:

@Berry – agree. She looks like she doesn’t eat a thing!! She is RAIL thin!! She does have a nice butt though, i’ll admit…but that’s just b/c it’s toned and tight. She definitely does NOT have curves..

  14. canadianchick says:

She looks good. And I think in the first shot I can see clear up her nostrils to the bitchface synapses in her brain.

  15. LOVE ANGELINA says:

Everything Jessica is wearing here is fabulous. I love all the pieces. Not so sure about her facial expressions.

  16. lena says:

@ Ogechi…now that was not nice!

  17. original kate says:

pretty girl, average “model”, terrible actress.

  18. maria says:

Tyra would tell her that she has no neck in these photos.

  19. Stephy85 says:

Anybody see her on Flipper? (was on ytv [i’m pretty sure] circa mid-90’s)
    Cutie-pie!!

Although I agree with Fae–her features DO look decidedly child-like at times.
    Like a pouty 4 year old…
But she is styled somethin fierce in this shoot

And at least it isn’t Stumpthumb Fox….

  20. jc126 says:

@autotron – I so agree with the obnoxious anti-white comments.

  21. Obvious says:

@ Ogechi i strongly disagree, first off I bleieve Jessica Alba has some latino in her, she’s said it before (I apologize now if i’m incorrect about that, i don’t have time to look it up), and as a caucasian woman i am proud of my curves that are natural.

some white girls are rails, some have curves-JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER RACE/ETHNICITY so LAY OFF.

    ok .end rant.

  22. Obvious says:

kaiser, is there a reason i’m constantly on moderation? I don’t think i’ve ever wrote anything that had to be deleted even…

  23. Nilber says:

I didn’t think that Jessica Alba could act either until I heard her being interviewed on some channel or the other. She should contact Jessica Simpson same vapid personality. To come off as slightly intelligent in a movie she is a fantastic actress. I think she is a beautiful woman and she seems to be a decent Mom but I would not want to have a conversation with her.

  24. Maritza says:

She looks beautiful although the clothes are awful, except for that really nice skirt.

  25. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

If it helps, she will rip the throat out of anyone who suggests that she is, in fact, only 50% caucasian. What’s so terrible about embracing the wholeness of your ancestry, too good to be anything but Nordic? If you’re going to study delusion with Merle Oberon, try learning to act from her, too.

  26. Sumodo1 says:

    Fuck harem pants.

  27. KLaw says:

Wow. That is some amazing styling. I wonder where I can get me a copy of Elle Korea? Vogue USA hasn’t done anything remotely this fabulous in at least a year.

  28. Iris says:

I like how autotron is making up quotes. stellar journalism skills right there.

no one on this forum has ever said that white women can never have curves. @ogechi said most white women lack curves, which they do in comparison to most black and latina women. most asians lack curves to. how is generalizing body types offensive? I’m beginning to think that white people call out pseudo-“racism” against them to minimize their own history of racism against minorities.

  29. CB Rawks says:

    Alba’s nose is bloopy.

I’d rather trade looks with Charlize Theron. She’s perfection.

  30. Obvious says:

@Iris, i find that offensive. are whites racist? yes (this is in no way reflecting views about everyone) are blacks? yes. Latinos? yes, same for every race. you can’t just say one group is more than another. i am Caucasian but i am also Jewish. my people have been discriminated against a hell of a lot more then many others (again not ALL)

the way viewed that comment may not have been the way you viewed it, everyone looks at thigns dfferently, but that is no reason to say we’re calling ‘pseudo-”racism”’

  31. autotron says:

Clearly I was not taking all of my quotes from that one poster above, but was instead referring to an entire sect of racist thoughts and comments. I am surely disappointed though, I was so hoping to prove my journalism (!!) skills and break into the biz by way of commenting on an obscure internet page about Jessica Alba to a group of strangers with an anonymous name. Good to know there are so many hard-working English majors out there – remind me never to bother down that road.
And who says I am even white? Why does one need to be a particular race in order to identify a particular brand of racism? Identifying body types is one thing, using them to create even more racial barbed wire fences on this continent is quite another.

  32. Emily says:

@KLaw, ITA. I want Korean fashion mags NOW, dammit!

I don’t care what ethnicity Alba is, bitch doesn’t have curves. She’s skinny, and needs harem pants to give her hips.

  33. Paula says:

Jessica Alba is one of the most beautiful women on the planet, IMO, with large, doe-like eyes, a perfectly oval face, and sensuously full lips. Her face looks beautiful without a spot of makeup. She is slender but proportioned, not rail-thin. I don’t believe she’s had any plastic surgery. I’ve never seen any before/after photos. Her incredibly hot younger brother is the spitting image of her, so if she’s had surgery, her brother must have gone to the same doctor.

Jessica’s mom is white and her dad Hispanic, which is not a race. In an interview, Jessica recounted her experience of starting kindergarten in a bilingual class and not understanding the teacher speaking Spanish.

I don’t care for the photo shoot because I prefer to see clothes that I would actually want to wear.

“@ogechi said most white women lack curves, which they do in comparison to most black and latina women.”

Actually, most white women do have curves; few are slender like Jessica. Black women are indeed curvy with breasts and hips and bottoms, but the Latinas in my community are mostly Mexicans and Central Americans with thick waists, narrow hips, small bottoms, and short legs typical of women with mostly indigenous ancestry. The few Latinas whose figures look remotely like J.Lo’s are fair-skinned and look European.

  34. Gigohead says:

She is very beautiful, I can’t take that away from her. I do however, don’t care for her acting. The face pic is very captivating.

  35. JoGirl says:

What’s really getting me is the hair. Just awful!

  36. daisyfly says:

As they’d say in Korea, Aigoo! Ipodah! (pronounced ee-poh-dah)

She’s lovely. Can’t smile for beans, but lovely.

  37. n... says:

    beautiful!!!
    i love you and family
    (*_*)

  38. Aspen says:

I had an interesting discussion with a Japanese man last week while we were both waiting for our curry takeout (I live in Japan right now), and he was talking to me about how he can tell the difference between “different kinds” of white people and correctly identified me as being of German descent. We laughed and started trying to discern the ethnic heritage of every white or Asian American who entered the restaurant while we waited. I’m getting pretty good at understanding Korean features vs. Chinese features, etcetera, and the Japanese man pointed out things about Asian facial structures that I never noticed before. Ethnicity is fascinating and beautiful if you can yank your racial insecurities out of the discussion.

Caucasians are not any more homogeneous than any other “race.” Eastern bloc white people have a very different body shape and facial structure than Nordic white people or Western European white people.

A statement about white people not having curves or compensating for a history of racism is ridiculous…and racist.

Every ethnic or racial background has a history of slavery, racial injustice, political evil, and on and on.

Alba looks hot. She does not look curvy. That fact has everything to do with her diet and genes and nothing to do with her ethnicity or skin tone. Love some of the clothes.

  39. EB says:

Unfortunately, Jessica is getting praise for modelling, when she claims to be an actress. She certainly isn’t an actor at all. Honestly, the pictures are nice, but it’s editorial photography for a fashion magazine! What is there really to crow about?!?!

  40. g says:

nice figure esp beautiful in the elle photo with skirts all asway & flouncy[above]

  41. g says:

No great qualities as actress however.

  42. gossip_ho says:

    she is B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!

  43. KC says:

Jessica Alba is gorgeous and beautiful and this editorial serves that purpose. She might not be the best model or actress but I don’t think anyone can deny that she is beautiful here. What part of her isn’t? She is photo-shopped but at least not to the point where you’d call her out for it and she works those clothes.

  44. WTF?!? says:

Ugly clothes, boring model, uninspired art direction. Elle Korea has a long way to go if this is their best ever.

Alba is no great beauty, either. She’s certainly passably pretty, but if she’d walked into a casting call as an unknown, she’d just hear “Next!”
Oh, and she’s a dreadful actress and generally a Sulky Sue.

  45. ViktoryGin says:

    @ ogechi.

    Just….shut up.

Not all white women are rails and not all black women are voluptuous. Moreever, Alba is actually latina.

Anyway….they very much Koreanized Jessica for this spread – miny skirt, shoulder pads, hammer pants, etc. Anything to add texture and girth. That’s she’s rail thin really works for Korea, and really for much of East Asia, as Asian women (very generally speaking) tend to be of slighter build than Westerners. Size 2/4 is quite the norm here. (I live in Korea.)

    @ daisyfly
I agree. Alba is quite “yeppuda” (pretty). Sorry, I’m on my laptop and can’t type in Hangul.

    @ Aspen

What part of Japan are you currently living in?

  46. Aspen says:

Uruma City in Okinawa! We love it here and will be very sad to leave.

  47. Kelaa Khaa says:

Those harem pants should be left in the eighties.

  48. nurdburd13 says:

    She bores me.

  49. lena says:

I’m really suprised that Ogechi’s comment is still on here, when it’s obviously racist in tone. Saying one race is this or that is just wrong and offensive.

  50. filthycute says:

Obvious, I’m always on moderation, too, and don’t know why. I’ve never received an answer.

  51. Aspen says:

I’m always on moderation because months and months ago (maybe a year by now), I mocked a racist comment by posting another one–over the top in its ridiculous-ness and unmistakable as sarcasm. Because my politics disagree with the moderator staff on this site, they chose to believe that me and my post were both ACTUALLY racist while the poster I was mocking for being an ACTUAL bigot…was fine.

People are evil if they don’t vote like you, right? So…I’ve been on moderation ever since. /shrug Whatever makes ’em feel better. I still contend I was right to call that poster out on what they said, and I’ve noticed over time that there are a couple brands of bigotry that the moderator staff here doesn’t seem to mind at all.

I just let it go. This is the best celebrity gossip site I’ve found and I love it. If the people who run it think I’m horrible…meh. Worse things have happened to better people.

  52. WTF?!? says:

Add me to the PermaMod status without explanation.
Never had a comment removed, either.

I do know if you criticize certain bloggers your comments never get posted…

  53. zzz says:

Oh good grief. Racism = prejudice + power. It’s pretty prejudiced (and misinformed) to say that white women don’t have curves, that’s patently ridiculous. But please, white women are the greatest beneficiaries of affirmative action, and are hardly talked poorly about (unlike darker skinned women). So, whatever on the claim of racism.

  54. Aspen says:

Oh please. That is so tired.

Racism does NOT equal prejudice + power. That’s political psycho babble that activist groups have been spouting to stir up anger in voting pools and to keep dissenting opinions out of the national discussion since the 60’s. Let’s be real about it. That’s ridiculous and it’s a sad, tired crutch used by people who refuse to face their own biases or give up the scapegoats they have taken refuge in holding onto, whatever/whoever they may be depending on the argument. In fairness, a lot of people believe this drivel because they’ve been slammed with it over and over and over again in universities. It’s garbage is what it is, and any honest study of sociology and historical context proves me out.

Racism is a persistent belief that one race is superior to another and/or a hatred of persons of a particular race based on race alone.

Prejudice is not racism, and it is not the same emotion from which racism springs. Prejudice is a preconceived expectation, fear, or opinion. Sometimes, prejudice is based on experience. Other times, a person might have no evidence at all for a prejudice and be totally unable to explain why s(he) holds it. Prejudice is an emotionally-driven condition, and it can apply to any area of life…certainly not just race or even people in general. Most prejudices can be changed or worked totally away through experiences or demonstrated evidence which offer an alternative to the prejudicial concept. Most people make these adjustments on a daily basis without even thinking about it.

Prejudice is something that every human being on earth has in some form or other. It is not evil. It is not hateful. It is normal and natural and unavoidable. Anyone who honestly believes they have no prejudice is seriously good at deluding himself.

Hatred and prejudice are not the same thing, and hatred of a race of people, with or without the power to oppress that race, is still hatred…and it’s still racism.

There is no neat absolution of those groups who don’t have or believe they don’t have power for indulging in racism. I don’t care which philosophy or poli sci teacher told you there was. Hatred is ugly no matter who the poor bastard on the business end of it is, and powerlessness is no excuse for perpetuating the ugliest side of humanity.

Ogechi’s comment was racist because the tenor of it suggests that Ogechi doesn’t only believe that white women don’t have curves, but this lack of curves makes white women inferior in beauty to women of other races.

That’s why it’s a racist rather than a prejudiced comment…and it’s racist whether white girls have great salaries and a full complement of civil rights or not.

  55. M says:

Everyone looks good when air brushed to perfection.
Alba looks like any other woman normally, she even has stretch marks, you can see them on some of her paparazzi pics.

  56. ogechi says:

No one is born hating another person because of the colour of skin, or background or Religion. People must learn to hate and if they can learn to hate, They can be taught to love, for love comes naturally to the human heart that is the opposite.

  57. ViktoryGin says:

    @ Aspen

This exact issue came up on an episode of the View when, predictably, Hasslebeck and Behar were at each other’s throats trying to define what truly constites “racism’: Joy said that racism could only be perpetuated by a group that wielded political hegemony. Hasslebeck defined it as prejudice exercised on the basis of ethnicity. They consulted a dictionary (don’t recall which) and guess who was right: both.

I’ve only been to Kyushu. Hoping to hit up Tokyo in late summer.

  58. Isa says:

You know what’s funny is I get mistaken for being Asian all the time. When I went to SK everyone over there knew I was Mexican.
SK was fun! Lotteworld and Everland! I have never been in so many big cities!

  59. bry says:

We can’t please people.. It’s their opinion. Sometimes people who are being judgmental is a moron.
