Two weeks ago, Al and Tipper Gore announced their split, after forty years of marriage. Almost immediately, people began speculating that one or both of them had cheated. Last week, the Enquirer even ran a story speculating about Al’s women throughout the years. Something about a cheerleader, maybe a massage therapist gave him a hand job, etc. Anyway, Star Magazine has a new story about Al and someone new… Laurie David. Laurie is the 52-year-old ex-wife of Larry David (Curb Your Enthusiasm), and they were married for 14 years before splitting in 2007. Laurie is also big into the environmental causes, and she’s a power-player in her own right – she produced An Inconvenient Truth. Here’s more:
Al Gore’s split from wife Tipper after 40 years of marriage was a shock to everyone who thought theirs was the ideal marriage. Now Star can exclusively reveal that the former Vice President was having an affair with Larry David’s ex-wife — for the past two years!
In the June 28 issue of Star, on sale Wednesday, we report that Al and Tipper’s breakup didn’t come as much of a surprise to one Hollywood player — Laurie David. Star has learned that Al has been having an affair with Laurie, who divorced Seinfeld creator and Curb Your Enthusiasm star Larry David in 2007 amidst reports she was cheating with the caretaker of their Martha’s Vineyard summer home.
“Al and Laurie went from friends to lovers,” an insider tells Star. “It couldn’t be avoided.”

I hate to say it, but I think this is totally possible, and I’m kind of impressed that Al chose a mistress who A) is age appropriate B) has very similar interests and C) has her own power, her own life, her friendships and business relationships. Sure, I’m disappointed in Al for cheating (if that’s what happened), but I’m also happy this wasn’t a gross Tiger Woods situation, where some hooker is going to run to Gloria Allred. “AL IS MY BABY-DADDY!” So, thanks for that, Al. Now zip it.
UPDATE: So Laurie David and her rep are running around denying this sh-t to every media outlet. The rep tells Us Weekly, “This is completely and totally untrue.” And Laurie told HuffPo: “It’s a total fabrication. I adore both Al and Tipper. I look at them both as family. And I have happily been in a serious relationship since my divorce.” Eh. Eco-homewrecker.

Only time will tell. I was hoping that the ink would be dry on the Gore’s divorce papers before any reasonable candidates for alleged mistresses would surface.

Not knowing Laurie David or what she looked like 20 years ago, that woman looks fantastic – AND NATURAL. You’re supposed to have wrinkles btwn your brows when you’re 53.
I totally buy it. After a 40 year marriage, the only reason to split is that one of them found someone else they wanted to be with seriously, and not sneak around. Otherwise I would expect the Gores to do what most politicians do and stay married for the appearances but live separate lives (clitonscoughcoughclintons).
If this is the case, and he cheated on his wife with her…yeah. Just because he wasn’t banging tiger style mistresses doesn’t make it any less disgusting. To throw away 40 years? I don’t care who the woman is, she is still a home wrecking whore and he is still a disgusting pig.
That coupling actually does make sense. I almost feel a little sorry for Tipper, almost. If she hadn’t been such a PIA back in the day about the whole “parental advisory” thing on records and CDs, I’d feel a little more sorry for her. As it stands, I’ll just be happy for Al and Laurie. I love Larry David, but I bet Al is nicer as a BF. Interesting.
When it comes to his love life, I do not believe that Gore would lead a double life. However, when it comes to his energy consumption, Gore definitely leads a double life. It is confusing that he says that the planet is on the brink, but that he personally consumes so much fuel and energy for his huge homes, private jets, etc. It makes me wonder if he really believes what he preaches.
are we now believing Star Magazine? I am not jumping to believe this story at all. It seems that it very hard for some people to understand that a marriage of 40 years can be over. Maybe they just get tired of each other. Why does it always have to be about cheating?

I’m sorry, I don’t buy it. I have problems with these supposed “sources”. I really don’t think either of them cheated, but I’d change that view with some actual evidence or a real live source. I think these tabs make up any BS and quote a “source” who is actually the writer (and I use that term loosely). Despite recent events, it IS possible to get a divorce without infidelity.
What is the problem with the parental advisory? It is not censorship, but gives good information to parents to help them make informed decisions about what their kids listen to. I’ll never understand the people who trash Tipper for this issue.

Leticia – I’ve noticed lots of people, politicians and otherwise, who say one thing and do another. Maybe Gore just thinks the little people should be good to the environment, but some people are too important for that. I hope not – because I admire Gore’s work, but it’s possible.
