I already knew that Angelina Jolie was going to do a Vanity Fair cover to promote Salt, which comes out mid to late July, but I honestly expected her to be on the July cover. But she made the August one instead. We don’t have any of the images yet except what I was able to pull from screen caps of this Entertainment Tonight clip:
People are already criticizing this Patrick Demarchelier photo shoot, especially the very blue cover. Demarchelier did her cover shoot the last time she did VF, back in the summer of 2008, when she was pregnant with the twins. If I remember correctly, the 2008 shoot was in Malibu, where I think Demarchelier did this one while she filming The Tourist in Venice. The cover shot – I don’t know, I think she looks good. I like her in blue, and I wish she would wear jewel tones more, as I have often said. I also like the bangs – I think she looks softer with them, and I hope she keeps them for a little while.
There are some black and white (bang-less) shots that look nice, but like a dozen other Angelina photo shoots. I hope Demarchelier shot her out and about in Venice for part of the shoot, at least.
Also – It seems like the VF piece is called “Farewell Angelina”. I don’t know what that’s about. Maybe she’s threatening to quit Hollywood again, like she has before. I wouldn’t worry, haters and lovers – Angelina has about six or seven films in various stages of preproduction, so it’s not like she’s bidding adieu anytime soon.

The cover, especially the hairstyle is what is the LEAST beautiful bare her eyes that are one of her best featuresto the shape, to the stare intensity.
I really love the captions inside and the last picture though. That one should have made the cover.

“Farewell Angelina” is a classic Bob Dylan song… the article probably references something small that allows them to make use of that title.
I think the bangs thins out her face too much but when she’s got her whole face showing she is stunning.

She is gorgeous I know everyone is saying she had a nose job but I don’t think she is using filler which is why she looks gaunt in the face and her age but still such a stunning face. I bought VF last month for the Elizabeth Taylor story and I am thinking I will end up buying this one too.

I think she is looking especially beautiful in the last few months- I don’t know if she’s gained a little weight or just filled out in the face, but the past few photos (from The Tourist up to now) have just been breathtaking.
I’ll probably buy it, she’s usually a good interview.
Jolie never threaten to leave HW. She has said that she wants as the years go by to be doing less and less movies and eventually one day stop.
A movie a year, a movie in 2 years etc. That is what Jolie has been doing. She did Changeling in 2007, Salt in 2009 and Tourist in 2010.
Jolie doesn’t have 6 or 7 movies in pre-production. Most of those are rumours that haven’t been confirmed and are years away of even being made.
There’s just no way around it, she’s pretty.
How much photoshop did they need to make her look human and not like a skelette?

I really love her cover. I will so buy it. Hard to believe she has not done an interview in 2 years. She looks amazing in those damn shorts. Legs for miles; working it. And shock she is not naked. LOL.. I know she is not that tall..maybe 5’7 or 5’7 in half..but those legs. I love the black and white pics. That last pic is my favorite. The cover reminds of her look in The Tourist. And yes I like the bangs. As far as her face. She does not have that fuller face as she gets older. She has always been thin. I don’t get why people think every woman in the world that is thin is anoresic. or that any woman that is fuller is fat. Women have differnt body types Some women are just natuarlly thin. thus is life. We don’t fit one mold. and why in the world should we.
I want to see what that tat is on the inside of her thigh..
I will say I am a fan and she always has interesting interviews. Honest. Can’t wait for the ET teaser on Monday. I will so watch.
They photoshopped her jaw line and cheek badly in the first pic, it’s uneven.
I don’t like her eye make up in the cover shot. Too heavy and too dark and doesn’t do her good really. She looked so much better in her kandid pics in Venice that in her full make up set pics.
I think the cover shot is gorgeous. Very old fashioned but very interesting to look at.
“Six or seven movies in various stages of production”, where in the world did you get that from? “The Tourist” is in post-production, “Kung Fu Panda 2” is filming next year (she’s doing the voice for Tigress again), and anything else is tabloid rumor that isn’t even off the drawing boards yet. She already said she isn’t doing “Atlas Shrugged”. I think she and Brad are going to do considerably fewer films in the coming years in order to spend more time with their family. Brad already said he wants to get more into the production end of movies and less into acting.
That said, she looks drop-dead gorgeous in those photos as per usual, and as lisa observed, she always gives interesting interviews.
The only movie Angelina has in pre-production is the Scarpetti one. Otherwise, there is nothing except rumors by people who want to use her name to get publicity for a movie they are hoping a studio pays attention to.
Also, the August issue of VF comes out in mid-July and so does “Salt” so that’s probably why Angelina is on the August cover and not July. Makes more sense to get all of the PR from the interview right as the movie comes out rather than weeks before.
I love the cover so I think I’ll be buying this issue. I don’t really like VF but I’ll pay the money just because Angelina is on the cover.
I think she looks great in every shot, except the cover. Her cheek bones stick out so far, she almost looks like an alien. But, to be fair, I think she might also look odd to me because the screen grab is obviously taken from an angle intead of a straight on shot.
That said, I know how passionate Angie fans can be. So, before anyone accuses me of being a hater, I want to point out the obvious and say that she is a beautiful woman. Criticizing her in pictures is sort of like criticizing a Picasso painting. Even if you don’t like the final image, you know it came from good source material.

“People” are not criticizing this photoshoot, or Angelina. Everywhere I went, including here, they love her as usually.
It’s difficult to say anything bad about her looks, or about her, except for a bunch of freaks that are fed their poison by trashy lying tabs, Aniston & her S. Huvane.
“Ally”, I feel for you. You can actually see this young lady as a uniquely beautiful human being, inside and out, being a doted mom that her kiddies always reach for, being always loyal to her men – from JLM to BBT to BP and no others so far -except in the tabs (enough said).
She’s been helping and giving up to $ 10 million at A time to those most in need for almost a decade (and NOT since that has become a fantastic PR-move)! Those are the FACTS. I won’t even go there and mention a truckload of her important awards, maybe just one Oscar, 3 Golden Globes, 2 SAG Awards and 3 Critics Choice Awards. Now you go ahead and say “she can’t act”!

But faces don’t naturally fill out as you age. It’s the direct opposite. You lose fat in your face as you get older. It’s called injectable filler.

Reminds my a lot of her last vanity fair cover when she had the “big hair”. Her face is very photo shopped on the cover. What is with the breasts has she had implants or just been pushed up to make her look bigger? But overall still a very nice looking woman.
AS for the bad ass stuff – it is getting a little old. I am finding her photo shots kind of the same old thing. i personally think that the shorts are more for a woman of 20-25 not a 35-40 year old woman.
Oh and Truth you left out a couple of movies. During the years you mentioned she did more films: Be wolf, Wanted and Kung Fu Panda.

I don’t get why people keep twisting her words into something she never said. Although she looks pretty, I don’t like the cover. The other photos are much better and could have been a better cover especially the third photo.

Usually, they photoshop actresses & models to make them look thinner, I’m betting Vanity Fair had to photoshop Angelina to make her look bigger. 🙂 I’m JUST kidding. I like the pics.

Much better than her last VF cover, I always thought that one looked really weird.
This cover is better, but I like the inside photos more, she looks like she did 8 or 9 years ago. Either she’s put on a few much needed lbs., or she needs to thank the photographer and/or photoshopper, as that’s the best she’s looked in a long time. She looks gorgeous in the still shot from the beginning of the video.

Photoshop or not, this woman still looks beautiful in the pap pics with no makeup or when she’s visiting other countries and she doesn’t have mounts of colors on her face. There is no gimics there, what then? Just as I thought. Since she was a kid and a teen, she always had that unique beauty on her face, end of story. But there will always be two sides to a celebrity, the haters and the fans.
