Did Britney Spears write out her own answers to Cosmo’s questionnaire?

britney

I put the link to the Cosmopolitan cover for August in yesterday’s link post, but it’s worth showing here – I mean, the Photoshop is ridiculous. What 3-year-old is in charge of cover images over there at Cosmo? They so obviously plastered a Britney head (circa 2004) onto a strange Britney body (circa 2002) and didn’t even give a sh-t enough about shadows and anything else that would make this cover look like anything else but a bobblehead. Ridiculous.

Anyway, ONTD had a great excerpt from Britney’s Cosmo interview – most of it is, like, a fill-in-the-blank questionnaire, and if you go to ONTD’s Cosmo scans, you can see that it looks like Britney actually wrote out the answers herself. Do you believe that? Wait until you actually read her answers. She comes across as… sane.

At 28, she has five number one albums and yet another sold-out tour under her belt, proving that this superstar is as awesome as ever. Now Britney is enjoying some strict downtime…but she made an exception for Cosmo.

You’ve got to hand it to Britney. She didn’t just bounce back last year—she commanded the spotlight and an album that produced back-to-back top-10 singles. When she took her show on the road, The Circus Starring Britney Spears ended up being the highest-grossing North American tour by a solo artist in 2009. After 97 performances around the world, Britney spent her final night under the big top in November and decided to take a well-deserved break from music. Since then, she’s turned her talents to fashion and created a flirty clothing line for Candie’s. “I had a lot of fun,” Britney tells us. “I’ve never designed clothing before, and I really loved the creative process.”

At the moment, she’s racking up as much family time as she can. “Things are pretty quiet right now,” she says. “I’ve been spending a lot of time at home with my boys. They just started karate class, which is supercute!” We were lucky enough to drag her away from 4-year-old Sean Preston and 3-year-old Jayden James just long enough for her to pose for a cover shoot and take one of our famous quizzes.

Multiple choice questions:

I’m dreading the moment when my sons ask me: how babies are made
If I had to wear one style of shoes for the rest of my life, I’d choose: flip-flops
Stage fright is something that: still bothers me
The one stage prop I wish I still had is: the flying pink SUV from my Do Somethin’ video
If a guy wants to make me laugh, all he has to do is: fall down
If my sons told me they wanted to be in the entertainment business, I’d: lock them in their rooms until they turned 30
The thought of turning 30 in a year and a half makes me: reflect on my life so far
I perform my best when: I’m amped
The TV show I’d most love to make a cameo on is: Gossip Girl.

Fill in the blanks:

Even though I’ve already accomplished so much, I’m driven to achieve more because: I genuinely love what I do and the company I keep is so much fun.
My preferred fashion style when I’m performing is: exciting, different and always stands out, but when I’m offstage, it’s: flattering yet comfortable
I feel most powerful when: I’m working out
I attribute my career’s longevity most to: hard work
Having people constantly taking my picture is: something I always knew would come with the job I chose
I’ve found that a great way to deal with nerves before a performance is to: move around
When I’m feeling down, I find that I’m always cheered up by: coffee & ice cream
The person whose opinion matters most to me is: my family
The song I sing to lull my boys to sleep is: always different
At this point in my life, what’s most important to me in a guy is: personality
The most difficult adjustment to motherhood I had to make was: teaching my boys potty training.
If an up-and-coming young performer asked me for advice, I’d tell her: life is short, have fun.
The most heroic (crossed out heroic and wrote horrific) thing I’ve ever done is: broken my knee.
The one thing about men and relationships I wish I’d known 10 years ago is: to say what you want. speak your mind!
I know it’s a little weird, but I think: it’s hard to cook
The best advice I ever got was: be yourself!

Okay, who buys that Britney actually answered these questions herself? That she sat down and carefully read through the questionnaire and thoughtfully put together answers like always singing something different to her sons, and the most difficult motherhood adjustment she made was potty training? Really, Brit? I mean, really?!?!? The only thing I buy is that Brit is cheered up by coffee and ice cream. That’s it. I believe everything else was thought up by Brit’s publicist.

I subscribe to Cosmo and just like everyone else, I am sure she really did write them out herself. Give her some credit for once.

  2. Ogechi says:

    LOL- Why this second pictures?

  3. Ophelia says:

That last picture at the bottom is so going to be my desktop background. A-ma-zing.

  4. Fluffy Kitten Tail says:

The questions and the answers are not that difficult, so why would someone have had to do them for her? She may be a bit off, but she is not like a mind of mashed taters. *eyeroll*

  5. gabs says:

The answers are so lame that i do believe she did it herself. I bet someone had to approve it as she wrote. So sad. I cant even make fun of her anymore. Its just sad

  6. marge says:

    of course she didn’t:
My preferred fashion style (…) but when I’m offstage, it’s: flattering yet comfortable

the last phrase says it all, right?

  7. ses says:

I doubt any star who “fills out” Cosmo’s questionnaire does so without any advance knowledge of the questions…really don’t think Brit sat there in front of a Cosmo staffer with a clipboard and a pen like it’s the effing SAT’s.

  8. guesty says:

sounds like she answered them all by herself! kind of endearing really. 🙂

    Sounds like Britney alright.

OK crucify me now but she is only 29, she sounds like a typical 29 year old that has everything done for her and doesn’t do a damn thing for herself. give the girl a break. at least she isn’t shaving her head and taliing in her accents

  11. No Sensei says:

Generally love cosmo’s cover stories “sex, sex, sex, sex with pizza, sex with your g-spot, sex on your period…”!

  12. Miss says:

You know what I actually took from this? That she’s the real deal. There is so much fake, staged, fashion- shashion ass kissing (read LL) in that industry that when someone is just a mom or a typical 29 year old it seems insane. How many of you rush out to grab coffee looking like hell? I do.

In one of the questions she answered something like “she knew that people would be taking her pic all the time when she enter in this business”.
If I had to guess I’d think that by now she probably doesn’t care. Like “whatever, I look like crap, I’m just going to coffee, most of the garbage they write is fictional anyway. whatever.”
Britney was one of the first stars to have to deal with the monster that is “Tabloid drama” so by now she has to be over it where as the LL’s thrive off it b/c they have nothing if not tabloid celebrity. Britney is an actual celebrity. She probably couldn’t care less.
    Just my take.

  13. Atticus says:

I’m with you, Miss. Britney is damned if she does, damned if she doesn’t. She’s being mocked for providing age appropriate, simple answers here. If she’d provided really polished answers, she’d surely be criticized for that. And really, I found myself laughing – WITH her – at her answers. I thought they were pretty endearing, too, Guesty.

I feel for Britney. I think she does have honest-to-God mental health issues and she’s dealing with it the best way she can. Hope she is feeling great about herself (though those last couple of pictures don’t look so hot…).

  14. Spike says:

    Agree with Marge.

Even though I’ve already accomplished so much, I’m driven to achieve more because: I genuinely love what I do and the company I keep is so much fun.

Geez — I’m 20 years older than her, and I don’t use that type of language. The comment flattering yet comfortable and this one sound like they were written by someone much older.

Reminds me of a scene in Harold & Maude when his mother is filling out a dating questionnaire.

  15. Karen says:

What kind of women actually reads Cosmo on a monthly basis? I will admit to picking it up when I am bored at the dentist or maybe on a long layover, but seriously, that magazine is such a joke and rather insulting to women. Everyone is photo-shopped to unrecognizability, the “sex advice” is ridiculous and the same in every issue, and from what I can tell the relationship advice doled out if actually taken would lead to some rather unhealthy relationships. It reminds me of this awful relationship self help book from the sixties called “Fascinating Womanhood”. Anyway sorry for the rant. I detest Cosmo.

  16. Jello says:

I agree. There’s no way she wrote this. The answers are predictable yet sane, mature and stable. A mix she would hardly get right. The mostly telling reply..”but when I’m offstage, it’s: flattering yet comfortable”. This doesn’t sound at all like her “voice,” and there’s no way Brit knows how to use a colon. This being said, I’m sure all celebrities go over their answers with a publicist. This time it’s just more obvious than usual.

  17. The_Porscha says:

I really do think she filled it out herself. I think we can all acknowledge that mentally she’s had some setbacks, but why do we have to paint her like someone who can’t walk upright without help? There are lots of people with mental illness – and I’m not definitively saying she has one – who are capable of taking care of themselves, or simply writing out uncomplicated answers to uncomplicated, throwaway questions. I’d like to think she can be afforded more credit than so many choose to give her. Yes, she might’ve had her struggles, but I think most of the things people pick on her for being “crazy” are actually just super duper “country.” And from what I can tell, she’s not ashamed about being country and, honestly, I don’t think she should be. I think this is probably the least superficially constructed thing about her these days, so I commend her for it and move on. Now, do I think that the language of her answers may have been cleared up (either by an editor or publicist)? Yes. But most celebrities go that route, too. Most of the interviews you read from Miley Cyrus don’t contain half as many “likes” and “you knows” as she actually uses. It’s standard editorial practice.

  18. Katija says:

I think a sane celeb (like a Kate Winslet or Reese Witherspoon) probably fills it out herself and the PR person just gives it a quick glance. In the case of someone like Britney or Miley, I’m sure they are coached.

  19. Katija says:

And I’m not going to joke about the cover, because I am 3487348673847897% sure someone lost their job over it. 😉

  20. kim says:

I love that she admits she knew photographers would follow her everywhere if she chose this career. All you whining celebs complaining about paparazzi take note!

  21. jc126 says:

She didn’t wrote those, I am sure.
Oh, and I still think she’s bipolar.

  22. Seth says:

I think you seem to have a thing against her, and begrudge her every little move forward, while delighting in every embarrassing moment-all the while paying a sentence’s worth of lip service to respecting her mental illness, which you immediately go back to calling crazy, insane, other insulting and derogatory adjectives. Mental illness is a real thing and it really does need to be given care. You wouldn’t call a cancer patient a sicko or a victim of cerebral palsey a cripple, nor should you. Have you seen interviews with her? For the Record? She wasn’t incoherent, she didn’t have trouble speaking. She didn’t stare in a mirror the whole time blowing spit bubbles. I do not doubt that she wrote this.
