Carrie Underwood bugs me a lot. She seems sweet on the surface and all, but there’s something super competitive about her, like she’ll cut you if you look at her wrong. Anyway Carrie recently got married, to Canadian hockey player Mike Fisher. I saw her wedding photos in People and it looked so beautiful, like a fairytale. Carrie bragged afterwards about how perfect and complete her life was, writing on her blog “I know how special these things are. There is nothing in the world that I could possibly ask for because you can’t add to perfection!” Maybe she’s just truly, genuinely happy and I should stop being such a cynic.
It looks like Carrie and Mike’s life is falling a little short of the perfection that they were hoping for. According to the National Enquirer, they can’t agree on where to live. Carrie has allegedly reneged on a promise to Mike that she would relocate to Ottawa, Canada where he’s from and works. She’s set on staying in Nashville to be closer to her work, and Mike isn’t having it.
“Reality is starting to set in, and it isn’t pretty. Mike is demanding that Carrie make good on her promise to move to Ottawa, Canada, where he’s based with his hockey team. But now Carrie is backtracking and refusing to leave her adopted hometown of Nashville.
After a lavish $1 million wedding in Georgia, the newlyweds honeymooned in Tahiti for eight days, and then spent another three days in California’s Napa Valley wine country, where their problems erupted in an explosive confrontation.
“Mike was going over renovation details for the 5,000-square foot house he’s building in West Carleton, Ottawa,” the insider divulged.
“He was talking about building a nursery when Carrie flew off the handle. She told Mike it was pointless to build space for a baby because she has no intention of living there.
“Carrie claimed she hadn’t thought the living plan through when she committed earlier. She told Mike that she’s most comfortable recording and writing in Nashville, and that her touring commitments make Nashville a more logical home base.
“Mike feels duped and raged that Carrie misled him. When Carrie said her mind was made up, Mike fired back ‘I’ll be living in Canada, whether you’re there or not!'”
“The conversation turned into a screaming match, and ended with Carrie in tears after locking herself in the bathroom.”

The article goes on to say that Carrie just made some empty promises to Mike before the wedding. The couple is also allegedly trying for a baby and the Enquirer quotes a source as saying “Carrie is hoping that once she conceives, Mike will soften and relocate to Nashville, where she works and records.” Maybe that will work, or maybe Mike will resent the fact that Carrie is trying to have their family so far away from his job and where all his family lives. It sounds like she did promise him they could live there, only to change her mind once they made it legal.

If this is all true then she is way to manipulative to be worth it.

I can’t see a Canadian wording it like that. Canada is a huge country, saying, “I’ll be living in Canada,” is just weird sounding.

How is he supposed to relocate to Nashville? He has to work in whatever city he is in or traded to and is not a free agent until 2013. And even then, it would be a nightmare to arrange a trade to Nashville just for the sake of moving there.
So if she always intended on living in Nashville, that means she never intended on living together. Which is…cold.

To me, Carrie always seems a bit aluf (spell) which gives her something of a “hidden bitch” fascade. However, I’ve concluded her public persona is her defense against being overwhelmed. Until she shows herself to be other than what we observe in her behavior, I’ll accept her as a really good and nice person with tons of talent. America loves her, so let’s not start tearing things down before there’s an actual reason to do so.

Mike Fisher can’t just relocate to Nashville. He has a contract with the Ottawa Senators…he has to show up to practices practically every day there. It’s also not like he can just call up the Predators and ask to come to their team. It doesn’t work like that. Does she want him to retire? I don’t like her either but this is so ridiculous that I’m calling bs on it. She dated him long enough to know enough about his profession to not expect him to be able to up and move anywhere she wants during hockey season.

You can write songs anywhere then go to Nashville for collaboration, rehearsals, recording… though even then it may not be necessary several top recording artists who’ve done duets together weren’t actually ever in studio at the same time. If she committed to Ottawa and then pulls this it’s putting a strain on the marriage.
He simply can’t live in Nashville and play hockey in Ottawa. Her job’s portable, his isn’t. The answer’s obvious.
They’ll split within a year or two citing too much time spent apart to make it work. Carrie’s just put the chisel in their perfect rock-solid life.
If you guys actually believe this National Enquirer story, I feel sorry for you. All you have to do is read the interviews they have both given over the last few months before and after marriage to get the truth. He will be in Ottawa when working and she will be in Nashville when working. They will keep both places and go back and forth. Also, Mike said they weren’t having kids right now due to their busy schedules. This has got to be the biggest load of crap of a story that I have ever read. Check the facts before you believe everything you read!

LOL @ this story. It’s complete nonsense because both of them have been VERY consistent saying they’ll be nomads for the 1st few years. Mike Fisher even commented (as a joke) that their primary residence will be the airport because it’ll be a lot of traveling between Nashville and Ottawa. He said it didn’t make a big difference where either was based because they’re so busy, one or both of them will have to travel either way.
Also they’ve both stated that “now is not the time” for them to have kids because they’re so busy. They’re planning on waiting a few years. So all the tabloids that are on baby bump watch 2010 are wasting their time.

Mike Fisher wants to live in Nashville, but not until after his hockey career is over. Fisher, who wed country singing superstar Carrie Underwood on July 10, says he has no plans to ask for a trade so he can live in the capital city of Tennessee with his new bride. “I want to obviously play a few years, a bunch of years here yet,” Fisher said after returning to Ottawa from his honeymoon. “She likes it here. I’ve been here for so long. She would never want her to be the reason I leave here, because I like it so much. Obviously, family is going to be important decision. But it’s not like I can’t wait to go there. I really want to stay here and finish my career. That’s what she really wants, too.”

As for the future, Fisher says he plans to stay in Ottawa for as long as the team will have him. He says he likes Ottawa, and Underwood does too.
“I love it here in Ottawa. She likes it, she knows how much I like it and I want to stay here my whole career if possible. And it won’t be just up to me, it will be up to the team too after my contract is up,” said Fisher.
“We’re both comfortable here. Home is where we are, so let’s make this home.”
Although the couple likes Ottawa, their careers won’t give them too much time in the same city, making it difficult to have a home base, Fisher said.
“Probably the airport will be the main residence,” he joked. “There will be lots of travelling. We’ll be all over, so it’s all good.”

I should think it’s a nice thing that she’s so excited that she wants to show off her ring. Perhaps she should be more jaded about being married and in love, but apparently she’s not. Good for her. And seriously, when a celebrity gets engaged/married, then every show she appears on wants to see the ring. If she didn’t cooperate, you’d be calling her a bitch for that.
They have enough money to go back and forth between Ottowa and Nashville, so honestly, what’s the problem? Just agree to get on a jet plane frequently. I wish I had enough money to have 2 homes and have one be principally mine and the other be his.
But my inside dirt: my brother drives her around and says he’s the worst celebrity he has EVER worked with (much worse than Miley, for example). She treats her staff and my brother like garbage, and doesn’t tip, then when the gig’s over, she patronizingly comes up to him to ask if he wants her to give him ONE autograph. He declines every single time, and yet it’s like she forgets and asks the next time he drives her.
Well while I think Mike would have a better end to his career if He’d join the very talented and up and coming Nashville Predators,
I know this is not gonna happen- he’s played his entire career as a Senator, and his contract is the third largest on the team, and not up until 2012, and the Senators are a mess, not likely to give up their third biggest star.

If your brother consistantly drove for Carrie, then he’s part of the team and a member of the team is not tipped. I think you are a LeAnn Rimes fan who can’t stand Carrie’s success. Stick with LeAnn’s Corndog and Cotton Candy crowd at the County Fairs and stop bashing Carrie. She’s bigger on her worst day than Rimes was on her best day.

Do famous people not talk to each other before getting married or something? You’d think they’re all like “hey, I like you, the sex is good right now and I want a wedding. Let’s get married!” And having a kid to “soften” a guy up…yeah, that won’t totally backfire.

I believe Carrie is a bitch partly because of reported demands she made in the past but mostly because of Jessica Simpson. Carrie publically bragged that the football quarterback, forgot his name, was constantly calling her eventhough he was dating Jessica at the time. There was no need for that. I doubt this story is true. It seems too farfetched and juvenile. Also I doubt Carrie is trying to get pregnant considering she’s on tour for the rest of the year. Pregnant woman do tour but it seems like something most would do afterwards.
@Rita, actually, most of the stars my brothers drive around DO give him a tip personally, whether or not it’s over and above what handlers give out. Carrie doesn’t, and she doesn’t instruct her people to tip, either. How did she miss the memo? Yes, in theory, someone *THAT* important as Carrie wouldn’t have to even speak to someone in a position like my brother’s, but in practice, stars and the people who render them _personal services_ DO have personal interactions, especially when they interact with each other for anywhere from eight hours to a whole week. It’s just what happens when you take people to wherever they want to go at the moment, whether it’s a venue, public event, friend’s house, hotel, or restaurant/bar/convenience store. (And, *gasp* sometimes people as important as Carrie go into gas stations themselves.)
Regardless of what her handlers do or what my brother’s company does, I’m making a comparison between what other stars normally do and what she does. Besides, that was only one part of my comment, not the whole shebang.

I don’t believe this story and I don’t believe Shawna. I know people that have worked with Carrie for years and no one has said anything bad about her. She takes care of her band, her tour people, bodyguards and friends. If what you said was true, people wouldn’t have stayed with her for the last five years.
So she thinks she can be a jerk to people who aren’t around her constantly, people who aren’t her friends or bodyguards. My brother drives her around once a year when she tours his area of Tennessee (which is quite far from Nashville).

Really…Everyone needs to take a chill pill and relax. It’s their cross to bear and figure out and probably one of many problems for THEM to solve together. Also, all the digs and insults are so tragic, meaninglesss and redundant. Perhaps it is a reflection of our innerselves and demons.
How can any of you possibly know what is going on in their lives when you don’t know them or what their managers, producers and family’s are pushing them to do. It sounds like you are basing your opinions on what you have heard from paparatzi’s, magazine tabloid’s, internet gossip, etc.
Sure, you enjoy being involved with this stuff since no one’s lives these days have enough drama and we’re all too self-centered to focus on bettering ourselves and not criticizing others.

I met her at the mall today. I went up and asked her, “Are you Carrie Underwood.” She said, “Yes, I am.” I asks her for a hug and she says, “No, you don’t want a hug from me. I’m sick.” I told her, “It doesn’t matter to me.” but she didn’t give me one because she backed up like a mile from me and looked at me like I had a disease :'( my friend has met her before at a concert and raved about how nice she is, but after today I hardly see the niceness. First of all, I am an American who relocated to Canada (Michigan to Vancouver) due to my husband being Canadian and that is a HUGE commitment, however I doubt that anyone (and the source was the National Enquirer so come on, don’t believe everything you read as A.Canadian stated earlier) heard a conversation they were having about the topic, especially in that detail. They both seem pretty into their faith, heavily actually (read Mike’s website, he has his own devotional) so I don’t think either would marry unless fully committed to each other not the idea of marriage, just think about it, either of them could get anyone! They also read the book a Purpose Driven Life together before marriage, which is where the lyrics for the song “Temporary Home” came from. Besides that normal people fight (to some degree) in a marriage and I’m sure their issues are far bigger than ours with all eyes always on them (their choices for sure though to be in the spotlight). My husband actually met her backstage at the concert she just performed here and he said she is just a “normal” person, a bit shy at first and very down to earth, but her manager on the other hand… I feel like the people who don’t like her are just jealous of her in every aspect of her life that we know! I think us “normal” people are way to critical of celebrities and we need to look in the mirror at our own imperfections before we harshly critize others! She has a lot going for her and I’m sure she deserves it – rock on Carrie (& Mike)!!!
By the way, she was NOT sick she had a concert the next night!!
