The latest pregnancy rumors about Mariah Carey, 40, were sparked from an appearance she made in Brazil over the weekend looking bigger than usual. Not only had Mariah gained weight, but she was also wearing looser clothes, which made it seem like she might have something to hide. Mariah likes to dress like she’s 20 years younger and favors outfits that are much too tight and short. If she’s wearing clothes that are more modest it definitely seems like a sign.
Mariah’s husband Nick Cannon was asked on his radio show whether she was pregnant. He skirted around the issue but seemed to suggest that she was but that he couldn’t say anything about it yet:
Photos of Mariah Carey in Brazil have generated another round of pregnancy speculation – and another noncommittal response from husband Nick Cannon.
“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it time and time again – when my wife feels like talking about whatever she wants to talk about, you will hear it directly from her,” Cannon, 29, said on his radio show Monday on New York’s 92.3 FM.
Elaborating on a Twitter message he posted in June, Cannon stresses that the issue is delicate. “We all know it’s extremely personal, and it is for a woman to deal with things with her body, and especially when dealing with the idea of childbirth and all that stuff,” he says.
But he explains that if there ever is news to announce, the couple want to “strategically plan it out properly” to avoid “media hoopla.”
“That’s something you want to keep near and dear and as close to you as you possibly can, until you’re 100% sure, in any situation,” he says. “There’s a certain time limit you’re supposed to wait before you can actually officially say that you are and all that stuff. You don’t want to mislead anybody.”

The thing I take away from Nick’s statement more than anything is that he’s really devoted to Mariah and is there for her no matter what. I’ve seen this guy gush over Mariah in interviews and you can tell that he adores her and puts her on a pedestal. It sounds like he’s half-confirming that she’s pregnant but that it’s early days and he can’t say anything at this point. These two have surprised me with how long they’ve lasted after a very hasty wedding over two years ago. They’ve said many times that they want to start a family and that it’s a priority for them. If they’re pregnant, then congratulations! Mariah has been rumored to be undergoing IVF and it must have been a rough road to get to this point. You can understand why they wouldn’t say anything about it if she is pregnant. We’ll see though. Nick also recently said that Mariah would be interested in being a judge on American Idol “if she has enough time” and “if they could work with her schedule.”

I like Mariah (even if she is kind of a nutball) and speaking from personal experience, I can understand why they would want to wait until a certain point to confirm when/if they are definitely pregnant-especially w/fertility treatments. My 1st pregnancy was a traumatic loss, followed by several year of fertility treatments. Our 1st IVF resulted in my daughter, but my mother told people I was pregnant before I wanted people to know & I was VERY upset b/c I wanted to know everything was OK before telling everyone outside our “inner circle.” Our 2nd IVF resulted in an early miscarriage. If pregnant, I’m sure Mariah just wants to get to a certain point-perhaps to the 2nd trimester, where she’d likely be able to stop progesterone supplementation.
Wicked SteppMom I’m so sorry to hear how hard things were for you. How awful to have to endure that. At least you have a wonderful daughter to prove how worth it it all was.
I myself have had similar experiences, having miscarried, but the worst part was that I had told people early on and then had to explain why there was no baby, and had some awkward moments. I went on to have two amazing daughters myself, so you just never know what’s in store.
If Mariah is pregnant ( and I hope she is) she should keep it to herself as long as possible, not only in case the worst happens, but it’s a wonderful time for an expectant couple, and they should enjoy the time when it’s just them and their hopes before they have to share it with the world.

Yeah , hes basically saying she is pregnant but because of her age, its risky to announce it too soon. completely understandable. Nick seems like a sweet husband to her. so glad they proved everyone wrong
She is certainly “with child”. There are photos from this concert with guys holding her from behind while singing onstage, lending an arm helping her up and down one step and into a car, etc.
Definitely pregnant.

I’ll be the first to say I gave them maybe a year. But you’re right, that guy is totally devoted to her and doesn’t mind at all that she takes center stage most of the time. It takes a real man to be ok with that!
@whitedaisy, unfortunately that means nothing. that happens all the time with her-awards show season she had people carry her on and ff stage because she couldn’t walk in her heels. I can’t take those things as a sign of her being preggers. but if she is-congrats-i wanna see this diva in the making.
All I can say is I wish I had a man who doted on me like that. It must be so nice to have someone who thinks you’re the greatest!
In the second-to-last photo, the way that T shirt drapes her stomach? Oh yeah. She is. I have to say Nick has really grown on me since he started hosting AGT.
If she is really at risk for losing the baby, I don’t think she’d be performing at a concert, I think she’d be at home resting. I think she’s had a couple of miscarriages, perhaps one recently – recall she bailed on a movie – and then goes out when she loses the baby to get her mind off her loss.
But I hope I’m wrong and that she is pregnant.
She can afford a stylist. Girl has bad, bad taste.
Pregnancy clothes have come a long way, plus there are lots of flowy styles she could wear that would not have people talking about the size of her stomach.
She already had two guys to lower her down onto couches. Can’t tell anything from all the assistance.
