John Malkovich has still got it (“it” being my heart)

Part of my job here is to look at all of the new photos coming in at various agencies, and decide whether we should use some photos, whether we can build a story around them, whether the fashion is hideous or what have you. Lately, something weird has happened. There are lots and lots of new photos of John Malkovich. Now, this is both a good and bad thing. It’s bad because John has been taking every single gig that’s come to him ever since he basically lost all of his money in Bernie Madoff’s Ponzi scheme. It’s good because, hey, who will say no to Malkovich? He’s still my dream lover. I haven’t even included him on a Hot Guy Friday, that’s how personal this crush is to me – I don’t want to share him. I love him. He was maybe the first actor I truly had feelings for.

Anyway, Malkovich is going to be everywhere this fall and winter, and probably beyond that to. In addition to appearing in Jonah Hex earlier this year (for real), he’s got several more releases this fall, including his supporting part in Secretariat and Red, and he even took a part in next year’s Transformers 3. I hope Malkovich is getting paid big-time for this stuff – and considering most are big studio ventures, he probably is.

Anyway, I could only find this one minor little interview from My Malky – he’s talking about his parts in Red and Secretariat, and how he’s totally fine with guns: “I don’t particularly own guns and I don’t have any intention of buying one, at least in the foreseeable future. I treat them they way I treat a horse, kind of fun but also dangerous. With the emphasis on dangerous. I’m an American so I’m happy as anybody to squeeze off a few rounds!” Eh. Here’s the trailer for Secretariat… for those who never thought they’d see the day when Malky would make a Disney movie.

Saw the trailer for Red this weekend – it looks hilarious. I like to think that of all the roles he’s taking for the cash, he did that one because of the fun.

Also, I agree about the guns. Don’t own any and they are certainly dangerous but it is damn fun to shoot them. At a target, that is.

  2. Sophie says:

love him! I watched Burn After Reading last night, I forgot how hilarious he is in it. and RED looks awesome!

  3. Hautie says:

I really love Malkovich too. He has played alot of great characters.

Places in the Heart, was the first movie I saw him in… and I love that movie.

Making of Mr. Right was just a fun movie in all aspects.

But it was his turn as Valmont in Dangerous Liaisons, who was a really great rakish character, that makes you realize how good he can be…

Ohhhh and the evil guy in Con Air. Loved him in Con Air.

He really has done tons of great work.

But I had no idea he was caught in that Ponzi crap of Madoof’s.

  4. Leticia says:

Malkovich really comes off like an independent thinker in all of the interviews of his that I have read. He does not tow the politically correct Hollywood line like the others.

  5. SammyHammy says:

    Mmmm…Dangerous Liaisons…how I LOVE him in that!

  6. Audra says:

Love Malkovich and his brillant craziness till the day I die. Overlooked as an Academy Award winner time and time again. Sophie: I loved him too in Burn After Reading, “I’m back you *uckers” while working out to the stair stepping video makes me crack up every time.

  7. Jo says:

Here is sort of a Monday Vintage Scandel.. He was married to Glenn Headley(sp) (She was the actress in Dirty Rotton Scandals) when he did Dangerous Liaisons and had an affair with Michelle Pheifer and broke up his marriage. hmmmmmmm

  8. OtherChris says:

He looks like that foreign language professor who manages to sleep with his grad students and yet not seem like a sleaze. He’s very appealing.

  9. Anne says:

    John Malkovich is totally awesome.

Old school Malkovich was hot in a serious way (Dangerous Liasons whew!) I nominate him for Hot Guy Friday.
I am very sad for him that he lost his money but I am glad he is working more Red looks really good and I can’t say that I have ever been dissapointed in his performance in anything even movies that were mediocre.
@Audra I love Burn After Reading its so underated I love his scene w/Brad Pitt in the car

Loved him in Dangerous Liasons…love him in anything. Read some interview awhile back. He was talking about being dad to teenagers, and it was just funny.

Lucky me, I lived in Chicago when he was at Steppenwolf and I got to see him live a few times. I remember him in “Of Mice and Men” and there was a long scene where he, as Lenny, was laying face-down. When everyone jumped up for the scene change I noticed a little pool of spit where he had been drooling on the floor and I thought, wow! Talk about staying in character! When he was young he was lithe and sexy and sort of scary.

  13. Chris says:

I liked him in Rounders, Burn After Reading, In the Line of Fire, Disgrace, Being John Malkovich and Ripley’s Game. He’s pretty cool.

  14. Cel says:

Brilliant actor – it is a crime he hasn’t got an Oscar. I happily watch anything he cares to do.

  15. Malorie says:

I remember when one friend of mine went to see Dangerous Liasons, we were 13 or something like that, and one of the things she told me was: “There´s this guy who is SO ugly at the beginning of the movie, but at the end of it you are completely IN LOVE with him…”

I went to see it the next day, and when the movie started I thought: “No way I´m falling in love with this actor by the end of the movie”.

I did. And I still love him too.

I know this is weird, and I really do love JM immoderately, but when I look at him, I always think of a shaved lion. Or a were-lion. That’s not an indictment on John, in fact Im not really sure what it means, but I just thought Id put that out there.
