As many of you know, I adore Liza Minnelli. I think she’s a survivor, and she’s fun and funny and talented and cool. She’s 64 years old and she’s still out there working and killing it and giving it her all, even when her all might fall short. Even then, you still have to admire her. So when I saw that my girl joined forces with my favorite tabloid feature, Us Weekly’s “25 Things You Don’t Know About…”, I was beyond thrilled. Liza is hawking her new CD, Confessions, but she still loves to name-drop the high and low-culture. She loves the Olive Garden (hurray!), and she adores Lady Gaga’s music (aw). Here’s the list:
1. My favorite TV show is Nurse Jackie.
2. I do not use the internet.
3. As I write this, I am listening to music from my new CD.
4. I always have apple juice and yogurt in my fridge.
5. I’m a really good poker player.
6. My favorite ice cream flavor is dulce de leche.
7. New York is my favorite place to live.
8. I love to swim.
9. I speak fluent French.
10. I drink two cups of coffee a day.
11. I am allergic to scallops.
12. I make a killer pot roast.
13. I love the Olive Garden!
14. I have three dogs.
15. I walk my dogs through Central Park every day.
16. My favorite color is red!
17. I’ve traveled to France more than anywhere else in the world.
18. I have a crush on countless talented people.
19. The first thing I do in the morning is thank God for another glorious day.
20. I think dancing is one of the most romantic things to do.
21. My favorite perfume is Obsession.
22. I have been to the White House four times.
23. My first pet was a poodle named John Cook, whom I named myself.
24. I have more shoes than I know what to do with!
25. I love Lady Gaga’s music.

Aw… I missed Liza on Oprah last week – did she do well? I hope so. Oooh… I just found it:
Um, okay, she didn’t sound great. But she gave it her all. What else is there to say about my girl?
She’s just Fabulous. that is all.
Who doesn’t love The Olive Garden?
Love you Liza!
Of course! Dulce de Leche, YUMMY.
I still love her Single Ladies cover!
Fabulous, agreed.
She is amazing. Glad to see she’s doing well. Any of you youngsters out there that don’t know much about her, should watch Caberet on Netflix.
Great list – I’m no gaga fan but who am I to disagree with Liza. Btw, today’s cookie cutter pseudo celebs should take some pointers from this great lady, not their lame hollywood pr teams and handlers.
She’s great. She’s also a very funny, natural actress, that many seem to forget. She was priceless in “Arthur.” And “The Sterlie Cuckoo” from 1969, she was wonderful.
she’s cute!
I saw her in concert a year or two ago and she was freaking amazing. She sounded fabulous and her dancing was spectacular. Whatever the ticket price, if you get the chance…GO! She’s worth it.
She’s one of the few EGOT people who got all four major awards – Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony – so she can do no wrong.
I’m not sure I can forgive her David Gest though.
That last photo has me thinking about Karen in her suit and Jack has her pose just like that and say ‘Liza with a Z?’ in the stairwell. Man, Will and Grace was such a long time ago.
I was watching this program about her parents relationship and before Liza got surgery it was freaky how much she looked like her mother as she got older while looking like her father as a baby. Judy Garland and Vincente Minnelli are her parents for folks that don’t know.
Thanks for this, I will not abide people talking shit about Liza, she is awesomes.
Liza’s also the only Oscar winner to have two Oscar winning parents.
I adore Liza, but come on……Olive Garden, GaGa? I knew she had damaged a few brain cells however, this clearly states more than a few!
A survivor indeed, and she still has great legs! I saw “Cabaret” for the first time recently-THE performance of that oft-staged play. And Liza is still going. Good for her, and double good for her for dumping that leech David Gest.
If we love her and support her as fans as much as she deserves to be loved and supported (and she DOES), she’ll be okay. Judy didn’t make it, but we’ll make sure Liza does. We love you!
Saw her just a few weeks ago at Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco. She was fantastic!
