I get it, I really do. She’s Rihanna. Much like Gaga, Rihanna has added to her fame, appeal and press by wearing strange and hideous things. Maybe it’s a message about finding beauty everywhere, in anything. Or maybe Rihanna shouldn’t try so hard. Because this dress could have been adorable paired with a pair of simple heels and an elegant bun. It’s not even that Rihanna’s hair or jewelry offends me. The jewelry looks like a 4-year-old picked it out, of course, and the hair is ridiculous, but all of that is fine. It’s the socks and heels that really, really bother me:
Ugh. Little old lady.
But anyway, these photos are of Rihanna and her boyfriend Matt Kemp attending the Miu Miu show in Paris yesterday. This is one of the first times, in my memory, that RiRi and Matt have gotten all dressed up and gone to a public function together. Can I say something? Matt Kemp is cute as hell. He really is adorable, with a great smile. I like the way he’s looking at Rihanna too – like he “gets” her. It’s very sweet. So I’ll overlook the socks. Matt Kemp for HGF!

my sole objection to the hair is that its connection to her head is becoming increasingly tenuous. but she is SO pretty, it hardly matters what else is going on. which is, y’know, just as well.

I know I’m gonna regret this, but I have to admit that even Gaga has more sense of fashion than her. The Alexander McQueen dress she wore was nothing less than faboulus, and sometimes she wears ridiculous clothes, but she knows it; Rihanna thinks she’s extreme and cool, and not ordinary.

Strange and hideous pretty much sums it up, Kaiser. The dress wouldn’t be so bad without the hair, make-up, jewelry, shoes and socks. Rihanna wastes her gorgeous looks with fugly ensembles like this. She’s also diminishing my chick-crush the longer she wears that horror-show red hair.
I hope she’s not threatened by Willow Pinkett-Smith.

Everything I’ve ever seen on that poor child has been tacky. This? The dress is not too bad, but she should have left the socks home. Overall? Apparently, she’s off to see the Wizard – for some acid.

I love all of it!!! And I am crazy about the socks and heels. Look, she is mixing it up, having fun even with the red hair and she can pull it off because she is super young. Fashion is suppose to fun. She and her new boyfriend (Matt Kemp) look adorable together.
I will say this, it is the look in her eyes that bothers me. She has had that look ever since the night CB beat her up. I wonder if that haunted/dead gaze in her eyes will ever go away?

And just when you think it can’t get worse while scrolling down, it does. Blue trouser socks with red satin pumps? Why? I get the socks and heels thing. I’m a winter person, I’m so happy it’s tights season. I love chunky tights with the right kind of textured shoe. She made the cardinal sin of thinking that just because socks with heels are trendy, that any sock with any shoe is thereby trendy. No.
At least I can’t see her classy gun tattoo on her thigh.

She’s a beautiful girl. But she ruins it with the following things:
1) the ridiculous red hair. Let it die already! It’s not doing you any favors!
2) the tacky, tacky jewelry. You’re not in jr. high anymore! Leave the bangles in your 7th grade locker!
3) the fur. Someplace, somewhere, a polar bear is missing it’s toupee.
4) her fugly tattoos. While the one on her hand may look lovely up close, it looks like an extreme case of leprosy from a distance. Or possibly a misguided, half finished attempt to become posion ivy from batman.

I generally like the fun things she wears – they’re different. But yeah, I think the socks and heels pushed that outfit over the edge.
