Here is Michelle Williams at the Blue Valentine premiere at the London Film Festival today. I have to admit, even though the dress is totally old-lady-doily, I kind of like it. Is it very “1950s party dress”? Sure. Do I think it looks like something Peggy would have worn in Season 2 of Mad Men? Sure. But, I still like it. The color is great, the cut is decent, and she jazzed it up nicely (?) with the leopard print shoes. Unlike Hilary Swank, Michelle doesn’t do matchy-matchy, and yet… is the leopard print too out of place with this dress? Eh. Maybe. Wait… is one shoe leopard print and the other is striped?!? Is she wearing two different patterned shoes?
But really, who is paying attention to the outfit when there is this hair situation? This is… not good. She looks like a washed-out Hobbit. I think Michelle has gone this ultra-platinum color because she’s currently playing Marilyn Monroe. But I’m pretty sure they would just make her wear a wig – so why the platinum? She needs another color to mix it up in there, because this is not flattering at all. And I’m not crazy about the little flip either.
Anyway, Ryan Gosling wasn’t there. BOO. He’s still shooting Drive in LA. If he had come to London, I’m sure he would have said something about her hair. Since he didn’t go, I have to. Maybe we can call up Jennifer Aniston and get her to make a quip about Billy Idol.

Ewwwww…..
really really cute!!!and I like the shoes too!
What happened?… doesn’t even look like her anymore.
Michelle, I love you but you will drive Ryan Gosling away with this hideousness. Do you hear me, woman????
Hmmmm….drive him away and perhaps into my arms? On second thought-keep rocking the softserve ice cream haircut, Michelle!
hideous.
No, no, no! Unless she is going to be Marilyn Monroe, make-up and all, the platinum hair has to go!
Not flattering for her every day look. For a movie and proper make-up, yes,
She looks terrible in these pictures. Just awful, IMO.
Not good. Casper-like.
Kaiser: Her shoes are leopard print on the outside half and striped on the inside half. 🙂
And I hate the hair. And the dress. 🙁
LOL @softserve ice cream haircut!
She looks like a Foster’s Freeze.
she has such an adorable figure, so many great ways she can be dressed. needs new stylist
I think it works for her. It’s weird but it works.
She’s so cute. I love this girl, she can change the color, that’s fine! Her face looks so happy, I am happy for her.
She looks exactly like my Aunt Sally, who is quite glamorous. She’s also 72 years old.
This is a hideous look (hair style, hair color, outfit) for a young woman. But the shoes are okay for any age.
Did she have a nose job?
@dorothy That was Carey Mulligan, not Michelle Williams.
I thought she did this to her hair awhile ago. I seem to remember pictures of it over the summer at maybe Cannes? Anyways, I still dislike it. I don’t the color flatters her, as adorable as she is. I don’t like the dress, and I don’t like the shoes with the dress. And I don’t like the lack of Ryan.
I love it! it works for her – not everyone can pull this type of thing off but she does, I love the shoes w/the dress too –
Think if it was dark rather than peroxide it would look great – the blonde not so much ;o(
hideous. sorry, and i think she is adorable but this is no good.
Really? I think she looks great! Happy and colourful looks better on her than fragile and waif-y.
She looks like Britta from Community. Like they could be twins.
like it…very cute & quirky.
doesn’t work with me that hair colour…
oh, my goodness! everyone, clap! keep on clapping! we need to keep tinkerbell alive!
The hair color is hideous makes her look 10 years older than she is.
I don’t think it’s her best look but at the same time I find it oddly appealing…either way it’s always nice to see a woman step out of the cookie-cutter Hollywood look…long hair over processed hair, half-melon implants, and tight as hell dress.
HAHA, God. You are so dramatic sometimes, Kaiser. Yes, she went platinum for the movie, obviously, and the shoes are clearly half leopard and half zebra.
I think the problem is with hair that platinum, you have to glam it up, or it just looks bizarre. She tried with the leopard/zebra shoes & red dress combo but it’s the makeup that’s the real problem. She’s still trying to do her signature ‘neutral granola waif’ thing and it just makes her look odd and washed out with that hair. She needs to glam up the face, badly.
Also, they darkened her eyebrows like Marilyn’s but have made them some odd dark-auburn colour. It looks hideous!
I love her dress and her shoes.
Her makeup is subtle but looks chalky and weird.
Her hair is awful. I do not like the color nor do I like the cut.
I think the hair is just for the show, they probably want to use her own hair as fringe around the wig.
definitely hideous
i actually LOVE LOVE LOVE her hair. it works on her skin tone, and she is rocking it even without stand-out makeup.
this is literally the first time i have ever thought of her as “pretty”.
omigod that hair just aged her twenty years
The hair would work better with a different shade of lipstick.
Neither hideous nor cute. Just needed, I guess.
Also, love the dress with those shoes.
Duh – even if she’ll wear a wig for the movie, it’s platinum so the wisps around her face/neck won’t show.
i don’t think she makes a good marilyn. marilyn had these very sad eyes and ms. williams always has the most happy, open eyes and reeks of cuteness…versus sexiness.
plus, in the 2nd photo she has a tiny obama logo looking tattoo on her wrist…
I think she’s quite lovely, actually!
I think it’s so the wig won’t show. They did it to Kirstin Dunst for the first Spiderman, too. But yeah, fug.
She’d look a lot better if she didn’t have the Uncle Leo eyebrows.
The shoes are awesome!
She is more plain than my undressed cheeseburger….
No Daahlink, you never can be Marilyn, no matter how hard you try 😉
Eeeck! no no no no no. Make it colored again! That better be for Marilyn or something.
All of this = bad. She is gorgeous-the over-processed hair and doily dress plus animal shoes are all horrible.
Is she growing fur on her face? She’s been rumored to have an eating disorder exacerbated by her co-stars of Dawson’s Creek and Prozac Nation.
hideous color hair and dress
If it was styled differently it might work
I agree with Kelbear and la_chica. It’s sort of weird but I like it anyway. Maybe it is precisely because it looks like something you’d see Aunt Sally wearing when she was in her prime, and because it’s so refreshing to get away from the same old plastic boobs and fake extensions and stupid bandage dresses that we’ve been seeing too much of lately.
Cute. It gives her a bit of edge. She was very average before.
SHE LOOKS LIKE A GRANDMOTHER
No everyone can carry off Vintage attire. The hair… no. Don’t care if it’s for a movie.
i’ve always been into the pixie cut
Oh no!! Her hair is bad bad bad! Who did this to her??? I bet Aniston is behind this bad colour! And those yucky shoes!
it always happens with silver. it ends up (in the wrong light) joining up with your hitherto unnoticed facial hair, in a slightly fuzzy way. with a blue or pink tinge to it. she’s ok. let’s not make her a “widda” though. one jackie O is enough.
Hair: hideous
Dress: hideous
Shoes: hideous
Platinum hair is too much work, unless you come by it naturally, and is nearly always unflattering (again unless natural.)
She’d look great with a darker blonde shade.
Oh no.. this made her look like an old lady. Totally not hot.
I wish I had her skin colour so I could pull this amazing platinum hair off. For once she doesn’t look dull. Now all she has to do is put on some clothes that go with the hair. Please loose your nanas outfit, would ya?
Um, no.
I think she is trying out for Marilyn Monroe–with NO luck I might add.
love her hair and the dress….HATE those shoes with that outfit…she is gorgeous! She could have yellow hair and I would not care.
I agree with tiki, she looks like Tinkerbell.
OMG i don’t know what it is, but to me she looks fantastic!
I didn’t find her very attractive until now.
Its a nice look and it isn’t like its forever. I think she has seemed to do really well after everything she has been through.
She is a much better actress than most of her peers in Follywood.
The hair is fine but that dress is a mess. Didn’t I just say this two articles ago?
The platinum hair looks adorable on her. And Marilyn had a very fuzzy face, so it is in line with her playing Marilyn. I think she looks great.
I like it.
The style is cute. The color makes her look like a gorgeous granny.
Well, at least she knows she’ll look great when she’s 60. This style is WAY too old for her.
She looks washed out. Her nose job looks ridiculous. She was cute back in the day, but she’s starting to get that cookie cutter look that I don’t like.
I don’t like the hair-color on its own, but I think it looks good on her, if that makes sense. It really highlights her beautiful green eyes, which I have never noticed before. Perhaps a more natural shade of blonde would work better in the long run though. That peroxide hair color is really dependent on the light – in some lights it looks good, others, well, viper said it – it is going into grandmother territory. She is beautiful though.
She has never had a nose job. Her nose has been like that since she was very, very young. % she looks the damn same, but with lighter hair. What cookie cutter actress would wear half the stuff she does. Not seeing any logic here.
Angel you’re so right about the makeup being so wrong!!
And I used to think she looked like she’d had a nose job after her Dawson’s Creek days, and now her nose looks different to me again. Her cheeks look different and lumpy too. I love her and used to think she was naturally pretty, but the fact that it looks like she messed with her face bugs me more than the wash-out makeup and granny hair :-/
I think it’s cute for a temporary fling.
This look is so filled with fail.
She looks kinda old but Michelle Williams will always be cute in my opinion 🙂
She looks 65.
Meh, like the outfit on her but not the hair or makeup.
I saw Michelle Williams in real life more than a decade ago, shopping at Bloomies with what looked like her mom. She wasn’t at all heavy but still had a sort of matronly, dumpy look to her while being slim, if that makes sense. Mediocre posture, ill-fitting bra, saggy skirt… I was surprised when a few years later, she began getting touted as some style girl.
