I’m in a difficult place – we have all of these new photos of Katie Holmes on the set of Jack & Jill, that film where Adam Sandler plays both Jack AND his sister Jill, and there really isn’t any good Katie Holmes story to put with these photos. Shall I make something up? Here: is that a baby bump I spy? Or is that just her normal stomach? Honestly, Katie looks like she’s lost some weight, and this is the best she’s looked in months. No zombie eyes or crap-tastic fashion. Whoever decided to put Katie in this dress did good. It’s slimming, and it doesn’t look like a really expensive couture turd.
Should we talk about where Katie is in her career? She’s playing second (third) fiddle to Adam Sandler and Adam Sandler’s hot mess. Honestly, though, this is the kind of career I expected from her back on Dawson’s Creek. The girl wasn’t some shining gift to the profession of acting, although she’s given up the chance at having a really solid career when she married Tom, and when she walked away from The Dark Knight. It seems like she’s trying to get on some kind of better career track though, after years of wandering through such flops as Mad Money. She’s got a handful of solid-looking projects already in the can – that horror film Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, and the Kennedy miniseries (where she plays Jackie) for the History Channel. So is Katie taking some tips from Nicole Kidman’s new career plan? Rule 1: Make an Adam Sandler film. Rule 2: Stop looking and acting like a zombie. Wow… those rules really do apply to both of them!

I’m pretty sure she was FIRED (excuse me…”not asked back”) from The Dark Knight, because she stunk up the first one so much.

Praise – I believe the details of her leaving the franchise are still being gossiped about. My take was that Nolan didn’t want her enough to fight for her, and that Tom was telling her to quit the franchise anyway. It was close to being mutual.
That dress looks fab on her….then she killed it with the fur monsters eating her feet. I know i know when she’s filming she’s prolly got better shoes, but woulda pair of black flats kill her? I know she owns them-and they go with almost everything.
That is a FAB dress. I <3 the raspberry color. It does look like she has a slight bump, but for all we know, that is for the character she is playing. But yes, she looks great here!
That dress does look fantastic on her. She needs to stop letting Suri dress her although I suppose Xenu would be displeased.
She looks non-depressed which allows her beauty to shine through. Nice to see and hope it continues.

Listen, I have those same slippers and if I could I’d wear them everyday. As for Katie, she had a great small, albeit topless scene, role in a Cate Blanchett movie, The Gift, and she held her own with the rest of the cast, Greg Kinnear, Keanu Reeves, Hilary Swank and Giovanni Ribisi. It was only after she sold her soul to the minions of Xenu that she lost what spark she had.
Sorry if it’s lame to point this out, but Xenu is like the Secret-Satan figure in Scientology (& no, I just enjoy amassing details re big creepy cults).
So perhaps Katie’s saying, “Why, LRH? Why???”
Everyone seems to give all the creds to Xenu. But the Big Guy is L Ron Hubbard, tho he “left behind his earthly form to pursue his research on a Higher Plane” many years ago. Alas, only advanced Operating Thetans like Mr Cruise can resist the delicious inanity of Xenu 😉

The color of the dress is lovely on her, but the length does nothing for those tree truck legs. I’m all about comfy slippers, but flats would look awful with that dress. I hope she is styled in heels for scenes in that dress.
Edit: I am actually shocked that she has had any career at ALL. I think she is a truly awful actress
I’ve always thought she isn’t a great actress; after she’s married Tom Cruise her career sort of bumped; I’m not sure if she can have a great comeback.
Yeah she really is looking good. A little make up is women’s best friend (Katie’s in primis).
But the shoes are a big no-no.
Pretty color on her, no doubt . I can’t tell if that’s her belly button or the seam of her stockings poking out. Hmmm. Anyway, those slippers look like Wicked Good slippers and let me tell you that if you don’t have any you should treat yourself this winter. You won’t regret it. Like a hot bath for just your feet. I give them as gifts regularly and the recipient is always thrilled.

There isn’t a damn thing you can do about them. I’d have to be about 2 stone underweight for them to look like a normal persons – it’s impossible.

Okay, moment of insanity over. Katie’s had a baby, your body doesn’t exactly snap back to pre-baby form. Sure, some women’s bodies do but most do not,… well, not without a little tuck here or there.
That said, she rocks that red dress.

I totally get the slippers. A day on the set, even in flats, can be grueling on the feet and legs – especially if most of your scenes involve standing. Getting out of the shoes into something comfy is pretty much a must. There are days when I am beyond glad I can wear sneakers (and sometimes flip flops or crocs) to work on a set.
Can’t help but notice she looks so much happier without Tom around. Hmmm…
