Another day, more Charlie Sheen drama. The guy needs another high profile cheater to help take the media heat off of him. Tiger Woods served that purpose last year when we were too distracted by all the hookers coming out of the woodwork to gossip much about Charlie’s Christmas drug-fueled attack on his then-wife, Brooke Mueller. Well Charlie officially filed for divorce from Brooke on Monday, and she filed as well. A lot of people assumed they were already in the process of divorcing, but all that paperwork we heard about earlier this year involved their property settlement and prenup, which stipulates that Brooke gets $300,000 per year of their marriage. That would explain why Brooke is so damn upset that Charlie filed now in an apparent attempt at damage control over his meltdown. It costs her a lot of money. Her overpaid lawyer is outraged, telling TMZ that “Charlie humiliated Brooke” by filing without giving her a heads up and in violation of their agreement to hold off for another year. I would think that Brooke would be more humiliated by Charlie’s public romp.

We heard a similar story with a different twist earlier this week in Radar, which claimed that Charlie filed in response to Brooke telling him she would file. This is another version, which makes Brooke out to be the wronged party:

Brooke Mueller feels utterly betrayed by Charlie Sheen, according to her lawyer, Sorrell Trope.

Trope tells TMZ … when Brooke and Charlie signed a property settlement agreement back in May … they agreed to wait a full year before officially filing for divorce. Trope says Brooke made the agreement because “she didn’t want to make trouble for Charlie,” who was in the throes of a trial for allegedly assaulting Brooke in Aspen.

Trope says, “Charlie humiliated Brooke,” by blindsiding her yesterday — filing legal papers without giving her the heads up. And, Trope says, it’s especially hurtful because Brooke had been supportive of Charlie last week during his most recent trouble.

Trope notes that in Charlie’s divorce papers, he suggests the couple’s two kids have been living with him. Trope says it’s not true — the kids have been living with Brooke.

UPDATE: Charlie’s manager, Mark Burg, tells TMZ, “Charlie tried to reach out to Brooke and left her a message before filing for divorce. It’s a shame that this ambulance chaser is trying to drum up more business because this divorce was finalized and agreed upon 6 months ago.”

Burg added, “Shouldn’t everyone involved be more concerned about the two young children?”

So did Brooke tell Charlie she was going to file or did Charlie file, hurt Brooke’s feelings and cause her to file? Either way, the guy has screwed a lot of people, literally and figuratively. He does have a lot of money to throw around to those on the receiving end, though.
