You know how I spent my Thanksgiving? Slathered in ham and turkey and mashed potatoes, in between viewings of the last three episodes of Dexter (ZOMG Jonny Lee Miller!!!). So I kind of missed the big Macy’s parade. Thankfully, I was able to catch up on some highlights this morning. Like this appearance by Jessica Simpson, who seemed to be making pains to A) Not look pregnant and B) Not screw up. In earlier interviews, Jessica said something about lip-syncing, and I think that’s probably why her vocals weren’t screwed up. Granted, it was a short song.
See? It wasn’t bad at all. When I think of cheese fests like holiday parades, I think of people like Jessica, so all in all, it was a solid appearance for her. Well done, Jess!
But you’ve got to love that she was basically opening for the Pillsbury Doughboy. Excellent.
I am pretty sure all performers on the parade lip sync. With the crowds and TV there is not anyway that anyone would be able to hear them just sing. Not that she has a great voice or anything.
Those ear muffs are cute as is the matching coat. I don’t usually like her style but I’d buy both of those for sure.
I have to give credits to her: she’s talentless, but she works really hard to stay relevant.
Everyone did lip sync from what I saw. Not that I’m a huge Kanye fan here but he also ‘performed’ – nothing is more strange to me than a rapper who syncs. It looks SO strange.
Jessica really does look puffy and pregnant to me. Is she going to have a RHOA Phaedra style full term “premie” baby in 6 months?
Jessica has looked puffy for a couple years. Nothing new. I doubt she’s pregnant. Everyone on the floats lip syncs. They have to for the network and sound.
Jessica was a great singer when she was young, but then she started oversinging and making strained-type faces while oversinging. I’m glad to see her bringing it back down a notch.
That last picture is so Jess, she’s either thinking “Hope I did a good job” or “Wish there were some crescent rolls
on the dough boy!”.

I love Jessica’s coat and earmuffs. I probably wouldn’t have matched those boots with this particular outfit and occasion – it seems a bit too “hot” for a family cheesefest parade – but I like those, too.
And yes, Notsoanonymous and mln, everyone did lipsync, as do most performers at any parade, because of the tech issues like mln mentioned and because there’s no way to do a full run-through of the parade in rehearsal, so there’s no telling what wind/weather/crowd is going to do to the situation.
I had thought she was live bc she sounded way off key or whatever the technical term for sucking is. Also, I think she looked preggers. She could have give up a size on her coat, too. Outerwear shouldn’t fit that tight.
Agree with sasa, if she had gone up a size the coat would’ve looked so much better, she seems intent on stuffing herself into too small clothes though. The lipsynching was obvious a couple of times, and the song a total Mariah All I Want for Christmas rip off, oh well!
IDK. There’s normal JS bloat face and then there’s this. I still think she looks pregnant – or else she is taking steroids for something (which causes you to swell and bloat.)
Anyone else notice that every single time NBC mentioned Jessica, they said something like, “The beautiful Jessica Simpson”? Every. Time. It was like, Oooh, let’s talk about how pretty she is!

I know the feeling of not wanting to get rid of perfectly good coats when there is a weight gain. You try and make it work. She seems like a sweet girl.
Is that her standard now? Not to be good but just to not suck?
I don’t know who’s idea is was to have her in front of doughboy. Did they want to invite comparisons? Could go either way, like she either looks soft like him or next to him she looks positively svelte.
I have a soft spot for Jessica. She’s not the sharpest knife in the drawer at all but her parents really screwed her up. She needs someone to pull her aside and restyle her a bit. Side note – totally want her boots.
Her coat is ill fitting. Lately, she just misses the mark with her clothing choices. She has this beautiful body but chooses clothing for a completely different body type. She should hire me and I’ll make her the best dressed.
Her hair looks AMAZING.

The buttons on her coat are going “Please, please don’t let us burst until she’s off camera!” Yes, I like her coat; it would be even better if it was her size. Women seriously need to learn how to dress for their body types: wear the correct size and OWN that shit!!!
(I do love the boots – don’t wear brown with black, or grey, whatever! – and she does look happy, so I’ll give her that!)

As for Jessica, I hope that song wasn’t the lead single for her Christmas album. That was one of the most boring, generic holiday songs I’ve ever heard. Since I wasn’t paying attention to the actual lyrics, here’s what I heard:

It was something like that, right? Anyway, I like her outfit. She did a good job, even though the real song was a total snooze fest.
She didn’t suck but the parade did. The performances have been lip-synced for years. Only the bands are real sound. I kept channel hopping, it’s the only way I can watch it.

Her clothes are nice, but she could have dressed more festively for the parade. Something a little more colorful would have been nice. I do like the clothes, I just don’t think they were right for this event. I also agree that the coat fit her too tightly. Would have been funny in a tragic kind of way if one of the buttons had popped off and hit an innocent bystander.
