There was a big screening of The Fighter over the weekend in NYC, and all of the leads came out to support the film. Mark Wahlberg (lead and producer) wore an extremely shiny suit, Christian Bale actually showed up (shocking) and everybody’s favorite princess Amy Adams worked this black batwing Roland Mouret dress. I find it particularly hideous, honestly, but it does crack me up a little how Amy is trying to be all “high fashion, street” with this look. It’s like she doesn’t even realize that to so many people, she’s just a redheaded Disney princessy sweetheart. People like my mother. Have I ever told you how much my mother LOVES Amy Adams? Like, my mother is loony for her, obsessed with her. I had to promise to take my mom to see The Fighter, and all she really knows about it is that Amy is in it. This is some sample dialogue from my mother: “She’s the prettiest princess, ever!” Me: “Mom, the film isn’t even about her – she’s playing second fiddle to Mark and Christian.” Mom: “I don’t care. She’s always going to be my pretty princess.” Hand to God.

Can I just say something? I’m really, really shocked at how “up for it” Christian Bale seems – like he’s making the effort to not be a surly, grumpy “artist” for the promotion of this film. Is it because of a potential Oscar campaign…? Well, The Fighter has a pretty good chance at some Oscars this year, and everyone involved is doing a pretty good job at selling this movie, I have to say. It helps that Mark Wahlberg is not only the lead, but a producer, and Hollywood movers and shakers seem to really like Mark – remember, he was the only actor in the cast of The Departed to get an Oscar nomination. And he’s a solid producer too – did you know that in addition to his success with Entourage, he’s also executive producing In Treatment and episodes of Boardwalk Empire, both highly acclaimed shows? So is Mark ordering Christian to just suck it up and campaign for an Oscar? I would love to know their dynamic, I really would.

Adams’dress isn’t my fav but she’s OK,Wahlberg’s suit is very…shiny(where is his wife?)and for Bale, i feel he’s not in Bateman/Wayne mood or has he only a suit(but his wife is pretty)
OT:did anyone know Bale’s stepmom was the feminist activist Gloria Steinem?
I love Amy’s dress Roland Moret is one of those male designers that really knows how to dress a womans figure. like Karl Laggerfeld and Tom Ford or in the old days there was Hurbert Givenchy and emilio pucci. granted Givenchy only had one of the most beautiful actresses ever as his muse correct for a long time his muse was Audrey Hepburn
It’s a strange dress but in a weird way Amy pulls it off (guess cause she’s a princess…lol). Bet you & your mom have some good discussions Kaiser.

The dress is okay, but she’s too petite to pull if off. It overpowers her. She needs something more fitted. She has an adorable(princessy) figure. She should show it off in better clothes a bit.
she’s really embracing the chunk, isn’t she? don’t like her. never have. her eyes kinda freak me out. and i don’t think she’s much of an actress. she nearly ruined “julie & julia” for me. thank god for meryl streep. i’d go lezzie for her in a heartbeat.
and what’s up with the men in these pictures? sure, i’d wear marky mark OUT, but that suit is HIDEOUS. it looks almost metallic…like something the hoff would wear.
and christian looks exactly like the little trailer urchin who delivers our pizzas to the house usually. long, greasy hair, mismatched clothes, baked look. he always smells like pot and rancid ass. disgusting. i’d imagine mr.bale doesn’t smell much better. and look at the trick on his arm! she actually wore something NICE…you jut know she’s pissed at him for that. no love muffin for him tonight!

Maybe she is still nursing her baby and she found this dress made it easier for her to do so? I don’t know but I don’t like the dress. It just looks ill-fitting.

Not digging Amy’s dress. Seems like one of those dresses that would be better suited for a tall, gangly woman.
IDK, if the dress had a grey/charcoal “skirt” component with the black top and bat wings, that to me would provide enough contrast to flatter her figure. She looks like Emperor Zod styled her.
Mark is a terrible actor and he was the only actor in the cast of The Departed to get an Oscar nomination because Dicaprio campaigned for his role in Blood Diamond.
Dicaprio didnt want to compete directly against Mark because they are good friends.
Carrie, I read that Gloria was at a dinner with Christian and she was talking about some cause and he said something sexist to her. Christian’s Dad and Gloria didn’t speak to him much after that.

I have never gotten the whole fascination with Marky Mark as an actor. As a producer he must do ok because he seems to pick winners but as an actor I don’t get it. I’ve seen movies with him in it and I liked the movies but I still didn’t like him in it.
Bale looks like a homeless bum who crashed the party. That hair needs to go.

I wonder if Mark Wahlberg told Bale that he would have to suck it up and act human during the promotion of this film from the beginning…because this is the most promotion/least surly Bale has been in years. I also wonder if maybe his career has finally taken a hit from all of the bad press, and so he’s cleaned up his act. The real test will be if he wins the Oscar: what his speech will be and whether he’ll go on the winner’s episode of Oprah.

That dress doesn’t do a thing for her. I think it would look great on someone else (Jessica Simpson? Can you imagine the boob spillage?), and she could find some much more flattering.

I like her, and I love that dress… but she lacks the “edge” to pull it off… it looks strange on her… this dress needs someone like Jennifer Connelly or Cate Blanchett to bring it to “AMAZING.”… Amy’s look is very wholesome, it looks like the dress is wearing her.

Amy Adams isn’t chunky. However, that dress makes her look top heavy and isn’t flattering. It could just be the camera angle, though.
leave her alone she just had a baby seven months ago maybe she still has some baby weight left to lose. she’s not short she’s actually average height for a woman 5’4″ or 5’5″ that dress would look great on somebody like Sophie Dahl who is 5’11” and was once a model granted both her parents are tall and her maternal grandparents were 6’6″ and 5’8″
Unflattering dress and ill fitting plus it is rather boring. She needed some bold chunky jewelry to jazz it up or something. Maybe if it had been above the knee with some accents it would have looked better. I don’t even understand some of the dresses stars wear when I’ve seen better stuff for 80 dollars online.
The dress is lovely, but it’s too tight below the waist. Half an inch wider would have worked perfectly.
I think you just need to be taller for that dress. I don’t hate it on her, it just seems a bit 75%. I agree that it’s a size too small too.

Ooops, Amy looks great, but I don’t like the dress. On anyone. Old lady style, imo. I’d like to see her styled a little differently. I think she’s look really great with a funky, updated new world rennaissance, or a mix of chic bohemian… LOVE the shoes though.

That dress is gorgeous. and that’s a kimono sleeve which is totally in right now.
I like Christian’s hair like this and the beard. He’s never been big on promotion so it’s nice to see him make an effort. Amy’s a great actress and a pretty woman but that dress does nothing for her. As for Mark Wahlberg – that suit – ugh!
I love this dress on her. It’s the bad eyeliner I have issues with.
