Everybody will probably end up seeing the Coen Brothers’ remake of True Grit because, well, it stars Jeff Bridges and Josh Brolin and Matt Damon, and for goodness sake, it’s a Coen Brothers’ western! Why not? But that doesn’t mean True Grit is a big awards contender – they got shut out of the Globes, but they’ll probably end up with some critics awards and bigger nominations for the guild awards and maybe even some Oscars. We’ll see. Anyway, last night was the big NYC premiere for the film, and the only star missing was Josh Brolin (boo). These are some photos of Matt Damon and his wife Luciana (Lucy), who just gave birth, like, six weeks ago. So cut her a break, you know? She’s over this junk, and Matt clearly adores her, so let’s tone down the “she hasn’t lost the baby weight!” stuff. Personally, I think they look really sweet together.

Jena Malone walked the red carpet too – she’s not in the movie, so I’m not sure why, other than she just wanted to see the film. Anyway, I just wanted to ask – what’s going on with her? Why is she so drastically thin?

I don’t particularly like Damon or his wife, but I love that they went to this together. Six weeks after a baby has arrived you want desperately to get out of the house, put on a pretty dress and have a few glasses of wine. Good for them!
I’m glad she hasn’t lost the baby weight yet; at 6 weeks, that’s healthy and normal! Besides, I think she’s homely even when she’s slim, so what does it matter?

Jena Malone – I don’t even know who this actress is, but she’s so thin it is frightening. At first glance, I thought the shadows from her purse were track marks on her arm.

Cannot wait to see True Grit. Bit mystified as to why the GGs have ignored it but then they’re the least important of the awards. A 100% Oscar contender imo, most particuarly for Jeff Bridges who from the early screening reviews is just spectacular.
I think she looks great. She looks like a tired mom who just had a baby six weeks ago but dressed up nicely. In other words NORMAL.
I always hate it when women lose their weight like 3 weeks after they give birth. As if birthing a child isn’t stressful enough to your body, why work out like crazy to lose weight? Luciana looks healthy and lovely, and Matt is obviously proud of her. I think they are a beautiful couple 🙂

They look so REAL! I love how they don’t bother with the fake (we’re so-o-o in love) poses that other Hollywood couples do on the red carpet. They just look natural, like a couple that’s comfortable together and has nothing to prove.
They might actually be the most normal couple in Hollywood.
At 6 weeks post-partum I was dressing like one of the “Golden Girls.” Elastic waisted pants! Muumuus! Depends undergarments!

I think she looks great. I think the color looks gorgeous on her, but the cut of the dress is just not flattering. It has nothing to do with weight, it just doesn’t work for her body type.

Jesus Christ! I said “poor wife” because she’s always pregnant or lactating. I just feel for her. My sympathy has been completely misconstrued into something nasty. What is with everybody the past few days?
If her boobs are still that size, she’s breastfeeding. Not so recommended to go on a diet and exercise binge when you’re doing that, plus she’s probably not getting more than 4 or 5 hours of sleep at a time. Who wants to get on a treadmill when you’re already exhausted?

She looks good! She just had a baby and she still seems to have that radiance pregnancy gives some people.
As for Jena Malone, she is one of those actresses that strikes me as something being off with. Maybe it is because her rape scene (filmed when she was like 13) in Bastard out of Carolina (what parent in their right mind would hve green-lit that?!) I kind of feel bad for her and drug use was the first thing that popped into my mind as a possiblility as for why she looks like that in the above pic.

I love her dress. I hate when women who could lose a few pounds wear form-fitting clothes. The dress Lucy wore is lovely, tasteful, and suits her figure.
She does look great. And no slobber or breast milk. My first six months with my first son was a blur, and everything I wore had slobber, breast milk, or later, baby food on it. Okay, I admit it, I had post partum depression. Luciana looks weary but otherwise okay, so good for her!

My annoying mother-in-law who stayed with us for 1 1/2 weeks soon after birth kept hovering over me with a camera to capture the moments. After a while I was like ‘step the F*ck down b*tch with the camera!!’.
Unless SHE wanted to go, he should have just let her stay home. But, I will say YEA to him for being loving and proud of his wife (from what it seems).
Six weeks after giving birth I was CLAWING my way out of the house. I didn’t care if anyone thought my ass looked fat or not. It’s different in the South. If you see a woman who is too thin right after having a baby everyone just pities her and worries that she has an awful case of PPD. lol The world would be a better place if everyone in Hollywood just ate a fucking cookie every now and then. That’s my Genteel Southern Blue Blooded Julia Sugarbaker commentary on the matter. 🙂

I was chomping at the bit to get out of the house for some adult time when my son was 6 weeks…but I wasn’t getting photographed and scrutinized during the outing! I’m pretty sure my boobs were leaking through my shirt, and then I had to milk myself in the bathroom. Memmmoriessss….

Dont hate me but after I gave birth I weighed twenty pounds less than when I first got pregnant. I know. I dont fucking get it. I mean I ate well and I exercised religously but that can only get you so far. And I mean right after birth, as in the first time I stepped on the scale. I almost died of shock. BUT I did have that big flappy belly for like 3 months afterward and that dark line down the belly for over a year after. Anyways, I think she looks hot! And I agree I was CLAWING to get out of the house after six weeks as well!
Hey I just met Matt Damon two weeks ago – he filmed part of a movie at my son’s elementary school. He met with some of the kids, made the rounds of the teachers to meet and say thanks, and came across as a really good guy. He just laughed when my son & some others heckled him for being a Red Sox fan. And I actually liked the fact that he looked like a new dad. . . i.e., very tired.
I was never any superfan but now I am!

I cry every time I see Matt Damon… Not really but it makes me sooo sad. What happened? During the last two years Matt aged for like 15 years. Just recently he was 30-something celebrity who won Sexiest Man Alive award… And now he looks like some of your 50-years old co-workers. He aged sooooo much.
And then you look at Ben Affleck who is ONLY 2 years younger. And Ben looks so fantastic and sexy lately. He never looked so good in years. And there is only 2 years difference between those two.

Baby weight? I think most women would be happy to look that good any time. BTy, I live in South Florida and she is really respected as being down to earth. She’s (or Matt)really seen to it that her family is taken care of. Remember she was a single mom working as a bartender when he met her.
And in order to be really close to her family in Argentina ( and so his chuldren can be bilingual) Matt learned Spanish and is very good.
