Ali Larter has given birth to a bouncing baby boy! Both Ali and Christina Applegate announced their pregnancies on the same day over the summer, and my guess for both of them was that they were due in January – but Ali was further along than I thought! Us Weekly confirms that Ali and her husband Hayes MacArthur welcomed baby Theodore Hayes MacArthur on Monday:

Christmas arrived a bit early for Ali Larter! The Heroes actress and actor Hayes MacArthur welcomed a healthy boy early Monday morning in Los Angeles, her rep tells UsMagazine.com exclusively. Mom and child are now resting comfortably.

First-time parents Larter, 34, and Perfect Couples actor MacArthur, 33, have named their son Theodore Hayes MacArthur.

“He’s our perfect Christmas present,” the new mom and dad gush to Us.

After seven years of dating, Larter and MacArthur wed in Kennebunkport, Maine in August 2009. She was eager to start a family way back in 2007, telling Cosmopolitan: “I told my boyfriend after three weeks that I wanted to marry him and that we could do it tomorrow…I look forward to that time when I’m home with babies.”

Larter accidentally revealed her child’s gender in September while promoting Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D — referring to her baby-to-be as a “he” during a Fox News interview.

She added at the time: “I’m just super pregnant…Each moment I want to take off another piece of clothing.”

Christmas babies, yay! Actually, I always feel sorry for Christmas babies. Their birthdays get folded into the Christmas holiday, and I often feel like their birthday celebrations aren’t as singularly-focused as birthdays should be. In my extended family, there are many Christmas babies and it’s always a thing of “Should we send a separate birthday card and gift, or should we just package it in with the Christmas stuff?” It sucks. But there’s bad stuff with every birthday time – inevitably, my birthday was the start of the school year, so people didn’t remember it either.

Anyway, congratulations to the happy family! What do you think of the name? I think it reeks of old money and history, which is A-OK in my book. I wonder if Ali’s husband is some distant relation of President Hayes and/or General MacArthur?

Congrats to Ali, her husband and the new little “Hero”. I like the name, it sounds very “old world money”.

  3. Rita says:

Yeah, Christmas babies. It’s like getting an engagement ring on Christmas or for your birthday. They look like a happy couple and she looks exactly like an expectant mother should. Wonderful.

  4. guesty says:

congrats to them…seems like she was preggers forever!

  5. Johnny Depp's Girl says:

    Congratulations!!

My Nephews Birthday’s on the 20th- It doesn’t bother him but, my Sister get’s really annoyed at people complaining about shelling out on 2 set’s of presents for one child at Christmas time……..
It does get expensive though 🙁

Re: the name, yeah, my first thought was, “What a stately, presidential name.” If he ever goes to boarding school or the Ivy Leagues, he’ll fit right in.

  8. mslewis says:

Ali was a very pretty pregnant lady!! I loved seeing what she was wearing.

Congrats to her and Hayes and Baby Teddy!!!

  9. Courtney says:

congrats to them I’ve always loved the name Theodore and the nicknames that go with it Teddy and Theo. granted Theo is also a stand alone name as in the Case of Theo Dahl. of course Ali is never going to be as revered an actress as that particular Theo’s mother Patricia Neal was/is. mind you when she won the Oscar for Best Actress April 14th 1964 The Beatles held the top 5 spots of the Billboard hot 100 singles chart a feat that has never been duplicated since

  10. Devon says:

My cousin was born on Christmas day and we had this problem when he was younger – do we get 2 presents or 1 big one. Doesn’t really matter anymore since we didn’t keep in touch with that side of the family.

  11. Grace says:

Congrats to the happy couple! New babies are always such a blessing.

I was born on Dec. 23 and when I was little I HATED getting one big present that was for Christmas and my birthday. A kid doesn’t care how much it costs, only that there are 2 separate presents. At least I didn’t care. I always felt ripped off if I only got one thing for both while my siblings got presents on their birthdays and another one at Christmas. My parents never wrapped my birthday presents in Christmas paper, and always made sure to celebrate my birthday without acknowledging Christmas during the party. They were, and still are, really great about it. It can be done!

  12. Mollyb says:

Weren’t we just talking on CB about how it was weird that Vince Vaughn’s daughter had her mother’s first name as her middle name and some suggested that no one would notice if a father gave his son his name as his middle name. Well–I noticed and I still think it is strange.

  13. Steph says:

I’m a Christmas baby, well a December 20 baby, and there are pros and cons. My parents ALWAYS made sure my birthday was celebrated on it’s own and I got the same amount of gifts from family members that I would get had my birthday been June 20. It did stink though because I always wanted a pool party which could never happen and a lot of times we had to really plan ahead for parties because my birthday usually fell during Winter Break and many of my friends were out of town.

  14. Jeri says:

    Congratulations to them!

Our family has June. July, Aug & Sept birthdays which has worked out pretty well. Three in Aug are 9th, 20th and 30th. When we were younger those sometimes got bundled but we didn’t mind. Little kids, PRESENTS, cake, who cares!

  15. Anon says:

You are so right about there being a problem with any birthday.

Mine is in the summer, which would seem great right?
Not when considering the fact that a lot of people are on vacation or at camp through the summer (like I was) and therefore it can make it difficult to celebrate with all of your friends and family.

I love the baby name though. It suits the middle and last name perfectly. Plus, Theo is such an adorable nickname! Congratulations to Ali and her husband.

  16. December says:

What’s wrong with having your parent’s first name as your middle name? I have my mother’s name as my middle name.

Yay for Ali. I’ve always loved her, mainly because she’s in the horror movies I rent, and because she has a real figure, unlike most of the females in Hollywood.

  17. buckley says:

    Great classic name. Love it.

  18. The Bobster says:

No baby pictures, only a pokie picture? Damn.

  19. Courtney says:

I’ll always remember little Theodores birthday because It’s My Younger Brothers. and a parent giving their first born their name or a grandparents or any of their children for that matter isn’t a new trend think about it Nancy Sinatra is named for her mother Nancy Barbato and her younger brother is particial named for their dad Frank though Frank sr was named Francis and Jr is Named Franklin and his first middle name is honoring family friend John Wayne. or for example Lucy Dahl’s middle name is Neal her mother Patricia’s surname but it’s different when it’s a last child as opposed to a first

  20. Brianna says:

I’m a Christmas baby (December 20th) and it SUCKS! I always get ‘combination’ gifts which are really just one gift, or people forget my birthday, or they want to do my birthday and Christmas together. As a kid, your parents have to work hard to separate the birthday and Christmas, and as an adult, you have to do it.

  21. Obvious says:

I’m the 18th. my immediate family, my boyfriend and my 2 best friends are the only ones who make a distinction….and by immediate i mean mom and dad-my siblings can’t even be bothered…i no longer believe they have birthdays either as a result. =)

my mom however used to let me have a huge party at the beginning of summer since i never really got birthday parties. =)

  22. theoriginalsisterkitty says:

My husband and his older brother were both born on Dec. 26th. I am never prepared for his b-day. His mom always has us and his brothers family over for dinner and we do cake and presents. I never know what to get for birthday gifts and I am usually tired. I think its kind of a bummer. Also, my son was born on our anniversary. Our first anniversary too. LOL….

  23. Emily says:

@Courtney, what does any of that have to do with Ali’s son?

My birthday’s in the middle of summer which sucks. I’ve had about 3 birthdays at home-most of the time, I was on holiday with my family somewhere, which meant I never got calls or cards from friends and family until I got home, and I usually had to wait weeks until my party.

  24. LittleDeadGirl says:

I can’t bitch about my birthday. March 7 so it often falls close enough to spring break that I can relax for the day or close around the day. Birthdays to me lose appeal after 16 anyway so I haven’t made a fuss in years. I doubt I’d have cared if I’d been born close to Xmas or another Holiday.

  25. CB Rawks says:

Now that’s a stately name! That kid sounds right in the highest jobs in the land. President Theodore Hayes MacArthur. Brigadier General Theodore Hayes MacArthur.
Although personally I’m looking forward to the eventual President Cody Ashleagh Grubbs-Sidebottom-Jones.

heheh I just noticed a lot of other people said the same thing. 😀 I should read more before I spout.

  26. mln76 says:

I am a Christmas baby born on the 26th I have just learned to covet lots of non-Christian friends. (I was born in a non religious Christian family)

  27. ur mama says:

    she is so pretty

  28. Whitey Fisk says:

    I love the name.

My sister’s daughter (who was the first grandchild) was born on December 25th. We shifted our Christmas celebration so we now get together to celebrate Christmas and open gifts on Christmas Eve. On Christmas Day, we meet for a birthday party after our own families are finished with Christmas morning stuff. There is absolutely no Christmas wrapping paper allowed. She usually has a “friends” party in January.

She is a teenager now, and it’s always worked out perfectly. She loves her bday.

Back to the name – it’s beautiful. And like Courtney, I love both Teddy and Theo.

  29. LT says:

She was such a super cute pregger woman. Congrats & love the name!

also, my bday is Dec. 20 & I’ve always HATED it. Not only do I despise winter, but I always only got 1 present and when I got old enough to have adult parties most people were out of town for the damn holidays! I tried to switch it to Nov. 20th but it didn’t fly…

  30. F*ckin? remarkable things here. I am very glad to peer your post. Thank you a lot and i’m taking a look forward to touch you. Will you kindly drop me a e-mail?
